This is the second of a series of two papers dealing with local limit theorems in relatively hyperbolic groups. In this second paper, we restrict our attention to non-spectrally degenerate random walks and we prove precise asymptotics of the probability $p_n(e, e)$ of going back to the origin at time $n$. We combine techniques adapted from thermodynamic formalism with the rough estimates of the Green function given by the first paper to show that $p_n(e, e) \sim CR^{-n} n^{-3/2}$ , where $R$ is the spectral radius of the random walk. This generalizes results of W. Woess for free products and results of Gou{ë}zel for hyperbolic groups.
This is the first of a series of two papers dealing with local limit theorems in relatively hyperbolic groups. In this first paper, we prove rough estimates for the Green function. Along the way, we introduce the notion of relative automaticity which will be useful in both papers and we show that relatively hyperbolic groups are relatively automatic. We also define the notion of spectral positive-recurrence for random walks on relatively hy-perbolic groups. We then use our estimates for the Green function to prove that $p_n \asymp R^n n^{-3/2}$ for spectrally positive-recurrent random walks, w…
We give examples of quasi-hyperbolic dynamical systems with the following properties : polynomial decay of correlations, convergence in law toward a non gaussian law of the ergodic sums (divided by $n^{3/4}$) associated to non degenerated regular functions.
In this paper, we prove that for every index perfect non-degenerate compact star-shaped hypersurface $Σ\subset{\bf R}^{2n}$, there exist at least $n$ non-hyperbolic closed characteristics with even Maslov-type indices on $Σ$ when $n$ is even. When $n$ is odd, there exist at least $n$ closed characteristics with odd Maslov-type indices on $Σ$ and at least $(n-1)$ of them are non-hyperbolic. Here we call a compact star-shaped hypersurface $Σ\subset {\bf R}^{2n}$ {\rm index perfect} if it carries only finitely many geometrically distinct prime closed characteristics, and every prime closed charac…
We study random walks on relatively hyperbolic groups whose law is convergent, in the sense that the derivative of its Green function is finite at the spectral radius. When parabolic subgroups are virtually abelian, we prove that for such a random walk satisfies a local limit theorem of the form $p_n(e, e)\sim CR^{-n}n^{-d/2}$, where $p_n(e, e)$ is the probability of returning to the origin at time $n$, $R$ is the inverse of the spectral radius of the random walk and $d$ is the minimal rank of a parabolic subgroup along which the random walk is spectrally degenerate. This concludes the classific…
We consider semigroup actions on the unit interval generated by strictly increasing $C^r$-maps. We assume that one of the generators has a pair of fixed points, one attracting and one repelling, and a heteroclinic orbit that connects the repeller and attractor, and the other generators form a robust blender, which can bring the points from a small neighborhood of the attractor to an arbitrarily small neighborhood of the repeller. This is a model setting for partially hyperbolic systems with one central direction. We show that, under additional conditions on the non-linearity and the Schwarzian…
Let $(M,Ω)$ be a connected symplectic 4-manifold and let $F=(J,H) : M \to \mathbb{R}^2$ be a completely integrable system on $M$ with only non-degenerate singularities and for which $J : M \to \mathbb{R}$ is a proper map. Assume that $F$ does not have singularities with hyperbolic blocks and that $p_1,...,p_n$ are the focus-focus singularities of $F$. For each subset $S=\{i_1,...,i_j\}$ we will show how to modify $F$ locally around any $p_i, i \in S$, in order to create a new integrable system $\tilde{F}=(J, \tilde{H}) : M \to \mathbb{R}^2$ such that its classical spectrum $\tilde{F}(M)$ conta…
We associate to each non-degenerate smooth interval map a number measuring its global asymptotic expansion. We show that this number can be calculated in various different ways. A consequence is that several natural notions of nonuniform hyperbolicity coincide. In this way we obtain an extension to interval maps with an arbitrary number of critical points of the remarkable result of Nowicki and Sands characterizing the Collet-Eckmann condition for unicritical maps. This also solves a conjecture of Luzzatto in dimension 1. Combined with a result of Nowicki and Przytycki, these considerations im…
Using techniques from ergodic theory and symbolic dynamics, we derive statistical limit laws for real valued functions on hyperbolic groups. In particular, our results apply to convex cocompact group actions on $\text{CAT}(-1)$ spaces, and provide a precise statistical comparison between word length and displacement. After generalising our methods to the multidimensional setting, we prove that the abelianisation map satisfies a non-degenerate multidimensional central limit theorem. We also obtain local limit theorems for group homomorphisms and for the displacement function associated to certa…
This paper is the first in a series of two articles whose aim is to extend a recent result of Guillarmou-Lefeuvre on the local rigidity of the marked length spectrum from the case of compact negatively-curved Riemannian manifolds to the case of manifolds with hyperbolic cusps. In this first paper, we deal with the linear (or infinitesimal) version of the problem and prove that such manifolds are spectrally rigid for compactly supported deformations. More precisely, we prove that the X-ray transform on symmetric solenoidal 2-tensors is injective. In order to do so, we expand the microlocal calc…
We study topological properties of automorphisms of a 6-dimensional torus generated by integer matrices symplectic with respect to either the standard symplectic structure in six-dimensional linear space or a nonstandard symplectic structure given by an integer skew-symmetric non-degenerate matrix. Such a symplectic matrix generates a partially hyperbolic automorphism of the torus, if it has eigenvalues both outside and on the unit circle. We study the case (2,2,2), numbers are dimensions of stable, center and unstable subspaces of the matrix. We study transitive and decomposable cases possibl…
Quasi-periodic motions on invariant tori of an integrable system of dimension smaller than half the phase space dimension may continue to exists after small perturbations. The parametric equations of the invariant tori can often be computed as formal power series in the perturbation parameter and can be given a meaning via resummations. Here we prove that, for a class of elliptic tori, a resummation algorithm can be devised and proved to be convergent, thus extending to such lower-dimensional invariant tori the methods employed to prove convergence of the Lindstedt series either for the maxima…
