Instead of the often used Foldy-Wouthuysen-Tani (FWT) transformation in non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD), we take a more general relation between the relativistic and non-relativistic on-shell spinors to recalculate the quark-quark-gluon vertex for heavy quarks. In comparison with the previous result using FWT, the recalculated coefficients in the NRQCD Lagrangian are different at order $1/m^3$ and new at order $1/m^4$ and $1/m^5$, where $m$ is the heavy quark mass.
The Schwinger-Dyson quark equation (SDE) combined with results from lattice simulation for the propagators are used to obtain information on the quark-gluon vertex, taking into account the recent full QCD lattice results for the soft-gluon limit. Its inclusion leads to a clear enhancement of the infrared quark-gluon vertex. We also find that the relative contribution of the quark-ghost kernel to the quark-gluon vertex in the infrared region does not follow the rules from the perturbative analysis of the ultraviolet region. This shows that for QCD the intuition based on perturbation theory does…
We discuss unquenching of the three-gluon vertex via its Dyson-Schwinger equation. We review the role of Furry's theorem and present first results for the quark triangle diagrams using non-perturbatively calculated dressing functions for the quark propagator and the quark-gluon vertex.
The quark loop contribution to the reggeon-reggeon-gluon vertex is calculated in QCD, where the reggeon is the reggeized gluon. Compared with the vertex in the Born approximation, this contribution exhibits a new spin structure as well as the gluon loop one. A remarkable but not complete cancellation between gluon and quark contributions to this new spin structure takes place for the case of three massless quark flavours.
The quark-gluon vertex in Landau gauge QCD is investigated in the Dyson-Schwinger approach. The aim is to obtain a fully self-consistent solution of the quark propagator and the quark-gluon vertex Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) in the vacuum using the gluon propagator as input from other calculations. The truncation scheme used in an earlier study is systematically improved and the first decisive step towards a full solution is presented. First results for the quark propagator with a fully dressed quark-gluon vertex in a truncation that incorporates all twelve vertex tensor-structures are show…
The two-loop three-gluon vertex is calculated in an arbitrary covariant gauge, in the limit when one of the external momenta vanishes. The differential Ward-Slavnov-Taylor (WST) identity related to this limit is discussed, and the relevant results for the ghost-gluon vertex and two-point functions are obtained. Together with the differential WST identity, they provide another independent way for calculating the three-gluon vertex. The renormalization of the results obtained is also presented.
The coupled system of the quark-gluon vertex and quark propagator Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSEs) is investigated within Landau gauge QCD. The aim is to get a deeper insight into the mechanisms of quark confinement and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and into a possible relation between these two phenomena. To this end an earlier study is extended by improving systematically on the truncations imposed on the quark-gluon vertex DSE. A clear infrared enhancement for all tensor structures of the quark-gluon vertex is obtained.
We review the status of calculations of Yang-Mills Green functions from Dyson-Schwinger equations. The role of truncations is discussed and results for the four-gluon vertex are presented.
We calculate the HQET quark-gluon vertex at one loop, for arbitrary external momenta, in an arbitrary covariant gauge and space-time dimension. Relevant results and algorithms for the three-point HQET integrals are presented. We also show how one can obtain the HQET limit directly from QCD results for the quark-gluon vertex.
We determine both real and virtual next-to-leading order corrections to the gluon induced forward jet vertex, from the high energy effective action proposed by Lipatov. For these calculations we employ the same regularization and subtraction formalism developed in our previous work on the quark-initiated vertex. We find agreement with previous results in the literature.
The unitarity corrections to the propagator of reggeized gluons calculated in the framework of QCD RFT require a knowledge of the expressions for Reggeon propagator and vertices of interaction of three reggeized gluons (Reggeons) to one QCD loop precision, see \cite{Our6}. In this paper we calculate the vertex of interactions of $A_+ A_+ A_-$ Reggeon fields, i.e. vertex of transition of $A_-$ Reggeon field to $A_+ A_+$ fields, to this precision. We demonstrate, that all loop leading logarithmic order contributions to the vertex can be summed through the integro-differential equation similarly …
The canonical recursive Dyson--Schwinger equations for the three-gluon and ghost-gluon vertices are solved numerically. The employed truncation includes several previously neglected diagrams and includes back-coupling effects. We find an infrared finite ghost-gluon vertex and an infrared diverging three-gluon vertex. We also compare our results with those obtained in previous calculations, where bare vertices were used in the loop diagrams.
We construct a general Ansatz for the three-particle vertex describing the interaction of one background and two quantum gluons, by simultaneously solving the Ward and Slavnov-Taylor identities it satisfies. This vertex is known to be essential for the gauge-invariant truncation of the Schwinger-Dyson equations of QCD, based on the pinch technique and the background field method. A key step in this construction is the formal derivation of a set of crucial constraints (shown to be valid to all orders), relating the various form factors of the ghost Green's functions appearing in the aforementio…
The three-gluon vertex is a basic object of interest in nonabelian gauge theory. It contains important structural information, in particular on infrared divergences, and also figures prominently in the Schwinger-Dyson equations. At the one-loop level, it has been calculated and analyzed by a number of authors. Here we use the worldline formalism to unify the calculations of the scalar, spinor and gluon loop contributions to the one-loop vertex, leading to an extremely compact representation. The SUSY - related sum rule found by Binger and Brodsky follows from an off-shell extension of the Bern…
We study the genuine non-perturbative corrections to the Landau gauge ghost-gluon vertex in terms of the non-vanishing dimension-two gluon condensate, and prove these corrections to give account of current SU(2) lattice data for the vertex with different kinematical configurations in the domain of intermediate momenta, roughly above 2-3 GeV. Based on this OPE analysis, we also present a simple model for the vertex, in acceptable agreement with the lattice data also in the IR domain. The necessity of a non-vanishing dimension-two gluon condensate will be also investigated through the analysis o…
Recently the quark-gluon vertex has been investigated in Landau gauge using a combined Dyson-Schwinger and nPI effective action approach. We present here a numerical analysis of a simpler system where the quarks have been replaced by charged scalar fields. We solve the coupled system of Dyson-Schwinger equations for the scalar propagator, the scalar-gluon vertex and the Yang-Mills propagators in a truncation related to earlier studies. The calculations have been performed for scalars both in the fundamental and the adjoint representation. A clear suppression of the Abelian diagram is found in …
We present an explicit construction of the special part of the three gluon vertex, which incorporates the Schwinger mechanism into the Schwinger-Dyson equation of the gluon propagator, enabling the generation of a dynamical gluon mass. This vertex contains massless, longitudinally coupled poles, acting effectively as composite Nambu-Goldstone bosons, generated by the strong QCD dynamics. The basic ingredients required for this construction are the longitudinal nature of this vertex and the Slavnov-Taylor identities that it must satisfy, in order for gauge-invariance and BRST symmetry to remain…
We derive the full analytic expression for the QCD eikonal coupling of a quark-antiquark state to the exchanged gluon-gluon state in the BFKL formalism. The formula is valid for all conformal spin configurations of the quark-antiquark and gluon-gluon states. In particular, a new selection rule on conformal spins characterizes the non-dominant BFKL components with intercept below the Pomeron in the conformal-invariant framework.
We present a detailed analysis of the kinetic and mass terms associated with the Landau gauge gluon propagator in the presence of dynamical quarks, and a comprehensive dynamical study of certain special kinematic limits of the three-gluon vertex. Our approach capitalizes on results from recent lattice simulations with (2+1) domain wall fermions, a novel nonlinear treatment of the gluon mass equation, and the nonperturbative reconstruction of the longitudinal three-gluon vertex from its fundamental Slavnov-Taylor identities. Particular emphasis is placed on the persistence of the suppression di…
In this article we study the unquenched three-gluon and ghost-gluon vertex in all momentum range going from the ultraviolet to the infrared regime using the Curci-Ferrari model at one-loop in Landau gauge as an extension of the results presented in \cite{Pelaez:2013cpa}. Results are compared with recent lattice data for $SU(3)$ in the unquenched case. This calculation is a pure prediction of the model because it does not require fixing any parameter once two-point functions are fitted. An analysis of the influence of dynamical quarks in the position of the zero crossing of the three-gluon vert…
The two-loop three-gluon vertex is calculated in an arbitrary covariant gauge, in the limit when two of the gluons are on the mass shell. The corresponding two-loop results for the ghost-gluon vertex are also obtained. It is shown that the results are consistent with the Ward-Slavnov-Taylor identities.
We present the first Dyson-Schwinger calculation of the three-gluon vertex in Landau-gauge QCD in which its full covariant structure is back-coupled self-consistently. We truncate a Bose-symmetrized version of the DSE at the level of one-loop diagrams, model the four-gluon vertex, and neglect terms that contain non-primitively divergent n-point functions; the ghost-gluon vertex is taken bare to good approximation. Fit functions for the ghost and gluon propagators that interpolate between scaling and decoupling are presented. In all aspects of our study Bose symmetry is manifest, from the trunc…
A new representation for the two-to-four gluon vertex arising in the context of unitarity corrections is derived which involves only BFKL kernels. We discuss possible implications of this representation, including the possibility of finding the NLO corrections to the vertex.
We show that the transition vertex: two reggeized gluons $\to$ four reggeized gluons is invariant under Möbius transformations. This provides an important step in defining a conformally invariant effective field theory for QCD in the Regge limit.
The Curci-Ferrari model has been shown to provide a good grasp on pure Yang-Mills correlation functions in the Landau gauge, already at one-loop order. In a recent work, the robustness of these results has been tested by evaluating the two-loop corrections to the gluon and ghost propagators. We pursue this systematic investigation by computing the ghost-antighost-gluon vertex to the same accuracy in a particular kinematic configuration that makes the calculations simpler. Because both the parameters of the model and the normalizations of the fields have already been fixed in a previous work, t…
The Dyson-Schwinger quark equation is solved for the quark-gluon vertex using the most recent lattice data available in the Landau gauge for the quark, gluon and ghost propagators, the full set of longitudinal tensor structures in the Ball-Chiu vertex, taking into account a recently derived normalisation for a quark-ghost kernel form factors and the gluon contribution for the tree level quark-gluon vertex identified on a recent study of the lattice soft gluon limit. A solution for the inverse problem is computed after the Tikhonov linear regularisation of the integral equation, that implies so…
The soft gluon limit of the longitudinal part of the quark-gluon vertex is studied by resorting to non-perturbative approaches to Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Based on a Slavnov-Taylor identity (STI), the longitudinal form factors is expressed in terms of the quark-ghost kernel, the quark self energy and the quark wave function. An exact relation between the non-vanishing longitudinal form factors is derived for the soft gluon limit and explored to understand the behaviour of the vertex. Within a Ball-Chiu vertex, the form factor $λ_1$ was analysed using recent lattice simulations for full QC…
We investigate the momentum dependence of the g*-g-eta' vertex form factor in the presence of the nonperturbative QCD vacuum condensate. The behaviour of this form factor is crucial for, among other things, some proposed mechanisms devised to explain the large branching ratio for fast eta' production in charmless B decays observed by CLEO. We show that the leading momentum dependence of this vertex form factor is not altered when the contribution of nonperturbative quark condensate is considered.
We revisit our recently proposed formalism for dealing with the heavy quark limit of the quark Dyson-Schwinger equation. An ambiguity inherent in the original version of method is identified and resolved. Our reanalysis illustrates the importance of correctly accounting for the effect of hard gluon momenta on the heavy quark self energy in the vicinity of the bare fermion mass pole.
We summarise results for the running coupling from the four-gluon vertex in Landau gauge, SU($N_c$) Yang-Mills theory as given by a combination of dressing functions of the vertex and the gluon propagator. These functions have been determined numerically from the corresponding set of Dyson-Schwinger equations. In the infrared we obtain a nontrivial infrared fixed point which is three orders of magnitude smaller than the corresponding one in the coupling of the ghost-gluon vertex.
We present a detailed study of the subtle interplay transpiring at the level of two integral equations that are instrumental for the dynamical generation of a gluon mass in pure Yang-Mills theories. The main novelty is the joint treatment of the Schwinger-Dyson equation governing the infrared behaviour of the gluon propagator and of the integral equation that controls the formation of massless bound-state excitations, whose inclusion is instrumental for obtaining massive solutions from the former equation. The self-consistency of the entire approach imposes the requirement of using a single va…
The vertex connecting one background gluon with two quantum ones constitutes a central ingredient in the gauge-invariant Schwinger-Dyson equation that determines the non-perturbative dynamics of the gluon propagator. This vertex satisfies a Ward identity with respect to the background gluon, and a Slavnov-Taylor identity with respect to the two quantum gluons. We present a complete Ansatz for this vertex, which satisfies both aforementioned identities. This entire construction depends crucially on a set of constraints relating the various form-factors of the ghost Green's functions appearing i…
One-loop off-shell contributions to the quark-gluon vertex are calculated, in an arbitrary covariant gauge and in arbitrary space-time dimension, including quark-mass effects. It is shown how one can get results for all on-shell limits of interest directly from the off-shell expressions. In order to demonstrate that the Ward-Slavnov-Taylor identity for the quark-gluon vertex is satisfied, we have also calculated the corresponding one-loop contribution involving the quark-quark-ghost-ghost vertex.
One-loop off-shell contributions to the three-gluon vertex are calculated, in arbitrary covariant gauge and in arbitrary space-time dimension, including quark-loop contributions (with massless quarks). It is shown how one can get the results for all on-shell limits of interest directly from the general off-shell expression. The corresponding general expressions for the one-loop ghost-gluon vertex are also obtained. They allow for a check of consistency with the Ward--Slavnov--Taylor identity.
Single and double inclusive cross-sections for gluon jet production from within the triple pomeron vertex are studied in the reggeized gluon technique. It is shown that to satisfy the AGK rules the vertex has to be fully symmetric in all four reggeized gluons which form the two final pomerons. The single inclusive cross-sections are found for different cuttings of the triple pomeron vertex. They sum into the expression obtained by Yu.Kovchegov and K.Tuchin in the colour dipole picture. The found double inclusive cross-sections satisfy the AGK rules.
This brief note is devoted to a study of genuine non-perturbative corrections to the Landau gauge ghost-gluon vertex in terms of the non-vanishing dimension-two gluon condensate. We pay special attention to the kinematical limit which the bare vertex takes for its tree-level expression at any perturbative order, according to the well-known Taylor theorem. Based on our OPE analysis, we also present a simple model for the vertex, in acceptable agreement with lattice data.
A recent form of the Slavnov-Taylor identity for the ghost-gluon vertex of QCD is compared with perturbative results. It is found that this identity, derived assuming ghost-ghost scattering can be neglected, is not consistent with perturbation theory. A new identity is derived at the one-loop perturbative level.
This paper is devoted to the calculation of the Reggeized quark-Reggeized quark-gluon effective vertex in perturbative QCD in the next-to-leading order. The case of QCD with massless quarks is considered and the correction is obtained in the D->4 limit. This vertex appears in the quark Reggeization theory, which next-to-leading order extension is now under construction.
In order to check the compatibility of the gluon Reggeization in QCD with the $s$-channel unitarity, the one-loop correction to the Reggeon-Reggeon-gluon vertex must be known at arbitrary space-time dimension $D$. We obtain this correction from the gluon production amplitude in the multi-Regge kinematics and present an explicit expression for it in terms of a few integrals over the transverse momenta of virtual particles. The one-gluon contribution to the non-forward BFKL kernel at arbitrary $D$ is also obtained.
We perform a semi-perturbative calculation of the quark-gluon vertex inspired from the three-loop expanded 3PI effective action and investigate the relative strengths of the chirally symmetric/broken tensor structures below and above the crossover.
We calculated the effective vertex of the quark production in the collision of Reggeized quark and Reggeized gluon in the next-to-leading order (NLO). The vertex in question is the missing component of the multi-Regge NLO amplitudes with the quark and gluon exchanges in $t_i$ channels. The calculation allows us to develop the bootstrap approach to the quark Reggeization proof within next-to-leading logarithmic approximation.
We evaluate the quark-photon vertex non-perturbatively taking into account the gluon condensate at finite temperature. This vertex is related to the previously derived effective quark propagator by a QED like Ward-Takahashi identity. The importance of the effective vertex for the dilepton production rate from a quark-gluon plasma is stressed.
We present a novel analysis of the gluon gap equation, where its full nonlinear structure is duly taken into account. In particular, while in previous treatments the linearization of this homogeneous integral equation introduced an indeterminacy in the scale of the corresponding mass, the current approach determines it uniquely, once the value of the gauge coupling at a given renormalization point is used as input. A crucial ingredient for this construction is the "kinetic term" of the gluon propagator, whose form is not obtained from the complicated equation governing its evolution, but is ra…
We show results for the quark-gluon vertex in the Landau gauge, using a mean-field improved Sheikholeslami-Wohlert fermion action. We compute all the three non-zero form factors of the vertex at zero gluon momentum, and compare them to the abelian vertex. The quark mass dependence of the vertex is also investigated and found to be negligible for the range of masses considered.
We report on new results on the infrared behaviour of the three-gluon vertex in quenched Quantum Chormodynamics, obtained from large-volume lattice simulations. The main focus of our study is the appearance of the characteristic infrared feature known as 'zero crossing', the origin of which is intimately connected with the nonperturbative masslessness of the Faddeev-Popov ghost. The appearance of this effect is clearly visible in one of the two kinematic configurations analyzed, and its theoretical origin is discussed in the framework of Schwinger-Dyson equations. The effective coupling in the…
This paper is devoted to the calculation of the quark-gluon-Reggeized quark effective vertex in perturbative QCD in the next-to-leading order. The case of QCD with massive quarks is considered. This vertex has a number of applications, in particular, the result can be used for determination of the next-to-leading correction to the massive Reggeized quark trajectory.
I generalize the Altarelli-Parisi approach to finding the QCD splitting functions to the case of 4-vertex interactions. I apply the results to the 4-gluon interaction and use them to define several jet observables. I estimate the correction associated with the 4-gluon interaction compared with QCD 3-vertex interactions, and find that such a correction can be significant, especially at low energies. For instance, it is estimated that at energy scales between 100 GeV and 1 TeV, the corrections associated with the 4-g vertex could range between ~ 6% - 10%, however, the correction becomes smaller …
As far as the renormalization in perturbative QCD is concerned the n-point one particle irreducible (1PI) proper vertex function is the basic building block where the ultra-violet (UV) divergence occurs when the loop momentum integration limit goes to infinity. In this paper we express the S-matrix element for the $gg \rightarrow ggg$ scattering process at all orders in coupling constant in terms of 5-point, 4-point, 3-point 1PI proper vertex functions and the (full) propagator by using the path integral formulation of QCD.
The one-loop off-shell massive quark contribution to the three-gluon vertex is calculated in an arbitrary space-time dimension. The results for all relevant on-shell and symmetric limits are obtained directly from the general off-shell results. The analytic structure of the results for the relevant massive scalar integrals is also discussed.
We present a novel nonperturbative approach for calculating the form factors of the quark-gluon vertex, in a general covariant gauge. The key ingredient of this method is the exact all-order relation connecting the conventional quark-gluon vertex with the corresponding vertex of the background field method, which is Abelian-like. When this latter relation is combined with the standard gauge technique, supplemented by a crucial set of transverse Ward identities, it allows the approximate determination of the nonperturbative behavior of all twelve form factors comprising the quark-gluon vertex, …
We calculate the induced color charges Q_{ind.}^3, Q_{ind.}^8 and the effective vertex gamma - gamma - gluon generated in quark-gluon plasma with the A_0 condensate because of the color parity violation at this background. To imitate the case of heavy-ion collisions, we consider the model of the plasma confined in the narrow infinite plate and derive the classical gluon potentials Phi^3, Phi^8 produced by these charges. Two applications - scattering of photons on the plasma and conversion of gluon fields in two photons radiated from the plasma - are discussed.
Solutions for the three-gluon and quark-gluon vertices from Dyson-Schwinger equations and the three-particle irreducible formalism are discussed. Dynamical quarks (``unquenching'') change the three-gluon vertex via the quark-triangle diagrams which themselves include fully dressed quark-gluon vertex functions. On the other hand, the quark-swordfish diagram is, at least with the model used for the two-quark-two-gluon vertex employed here, of minor importance. For the leading tensor structure of the three-gluon vertex the "unquenching" effect can be summarized for the nonperturbative part as a s…
In this talk we present a new method for determining the nonperturbative quark-gluon vertex, which constitutes a crucial ingredient for a variety of theoretical and phenomenological studies. This new method relies heavily on the exact all-order relation connecting the conventional quark-gluon vertex with the corresponding vertex of the background field method, which is Abelian-like. The longitudinal part of this latter quantity is fixed using the standard gauge technique, whereas the transverse is estimated with the help of the so-called transverse Ward identities. This method allows the appro…
We derive an approximate dynamical equation for the form-factor of the ghost-gluon vertex that contributes to the Schwinger-Dyson equation of the ghost dressing function in the Landau gauge. In particular, we consider the "one-loop dressed" approximation of the corresponding equation governing the evolution of the ghost-gluon vertex, using fully dressed propagators and tree-level vertices in the relevant diagrams. Within this approximation, we then compute the aforementioned form factor for two special kinematic configurations, namely the soft gluon limit, in which the momentum carried by the …
Using a simple model in the context of the Dyson-Schwinger-Bethe-Salpeter approach, we investigate the effects of a dressed-quark-gluon vertex on pseudoscalar meson masses. In particular, we focus on the unequal-mass case and investigate heavy-light meson masses; in addition, we study the premise of the effective treatment of heavy quarks in our approach.
In this article we study in detail the prospects of determining the infrared finite QCD effective charge from a special kinematic limit of the vertex function corresponding to three background gluons. This particular Green's function satisfies a QED-like Ward identity, relating it to the gluon propagator, with no reference to the ghost sector. Consequently, its longitudinal form factors may be expressed entirely in terms of the corresponding gluon wave function, whose inverse is proportional to the effective charge. After reviewing certain important theoretical properties, we consider a typica…
We present a calculation of the three-gluon vertex from its Dyson-Schwinger equation in Landau-gauge Yang-Mills theory. All tensor structures are considered and back-coupled self-consistently. Within the chosen truncation, two-loop diagrams as well as diagrams containing Green's functions beyond the primitively divergent ones are neglected. Only the three-gluon vertex is chosen to be dynamical; the other propagators and vertex functions are provided as separate solutions of their Dyson-Schwinger equations or by Ansatz. For both scaling- and decoupling-type solutions we observe, in agreement wi…
We compute the thermo-magnetic correction to the quark-gluon vertex in the presence of a weak magnetic field within the Hard Thermal Loop approximation. The vertex satisfies a QED-like Ward identity with the quark self-energy. The only vertex components that get modified are the longitudinal ones. The calculation provides a first principles result for the quark anomalous magnetic moment at high temperature in a weak magnetic field. We extract the effective thermo-magnetic quark-gluon coupling and show that this decreases as a function of the field strength. The result supports the idea that th…
We report preliminary results of our ongoing lattice computation of the Landau gauge quark propagator and the soft gluon limit of the quark-gluon vertex with 2 flavors of dynamical O(a) improved Wilson fermions.
