The nucleon pair shell model (NPSM) is casted into the so-called M-scheme for the cases with isospin symmetry and without isospin symmetry. The odd system and even system are treated on the same foot. The uncoupled commutators for nucleon-pairs, which are suitable for M-scheme, are given. Explicit formula of matrix elements in M-scheme for overlap, one-body operators, two-body operators are obtained. It is found that the $cpu$ time used in calculating the matrix elements in M-scheme is much shorter than that in the J-scheme of NPSM.
Some fundamental Nucleon-Nucleon interactions and their applications to finite nuclei are reviewed. Results for the few-body systems and from Shell-Model calculations are discussed and compared to point out the advantages and disadvantages of the different Nucleon-Nucleon interactions. The recently developed Drexel University Shell Model (DUSM) code is mentioned.
We present a consistent calculation of half-off-shell form factors in the pion-nucleon vertex and the nucleon self-energy. Numerical results are presented. Near the on-shell point the pion-nucleon vertex is dominated by the pseudovector coupling, while at large nucleon invariant masses we find a sizable pseudoscalar admixture.
The pion exchange between nucleons generates a strong tensor interaction, which provides a large attractive contribution for the binding energy of nucleus. This non central tensor interaction is difficult to handle in the shell model framework, which hinders full understanding of nuclear structure. We develop the tensor-optimized shell model (TOSM) for the strong tensor interaction and now we are able to use bare nucleon-nucleon interaction with the help of the unitary correlation operator method (UCOM) for the short-range hard core. We adopt the nucleon-nucleon interaction, AV8', and calculat…
The sensitivity of nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering to the off-shell behavior of realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions is investigated when on-shell equivalent nucleon-nucleon potentials are used. The study is based on applications of the full-folding optical model potential for an explicit treatment of the off-shell behavior of the nucleon-nucleon effective interaction. Applications were made at beam energies between 40 and 500 MeV for proton scattering from 40Ca and 208Pb. We use the momentum-dependent Paris potential and its local on-shell equivalent as obtained with the Gelfand-Levitan …
The sensitivity of nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering observables to the off-shell structure of nucleon-nucleon t-matrices, derived from realistic NN potentials, is investigated within the context of a full-folding model based on the impulse approximation. Our study uses recently developed NN potential models, which describe a subset of the NN data base with a $χ^2$ per datum $\sim$1, which means that the NN t-matrices are essentially on-shell equivalent. We calculate proton-nucleus elastic scattering observables for $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca, and $^{208}$Pb between 100 and 200 MeV laboratory energy…
The properties of nucleon-nucleon scattering inside dense nuclear matter are investigated. We use the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock model to determine on-shell and half off-shell in-medium transition amplitudes and cross sections. At finite densities the on-shell cross sections are generally suppressed. This reduction is, however, less pronounced than found in previous works. In the case that the outgoing momenta are allowed to be off energy shell the amplitudes show a strong variation with momentum. This description allows to determine in-medium cross sections beyond the quasi-particle …
We present a new and efficient method to obtain a Gamow shell-model basis and matrix elements generated by realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions. We derive a self-consistent Hartree-Fock potential from the renormalized N3LO interaction model. The corresponding Gamow one-body eigenstates are generated in a plane wave basis in order to build a Gamow shell-model set of basis states for the closed shell nuclei 4He and 16O. We address also the problem of representing a realistic nucleon-nucleon interaction in a two-particle Berggren basis in the laboratory frame. To achieve this, an expansion of m…
The problem of the ultraviolet divergences that arise in describing the nucleon dynamics at low energies is considered. By using the example of an exactly solvable model it is shown that after renormalization the interaction generating nucleon dynamics is nonlocal in time. Effects of such nonlocality on low-energy nucleon dynamics are investigated. It is shown that nonlocality in time of nucleon-nucleon interactions gives rise to an anomalous off-shell behavior of the two-nucleon amplitudes that have significant effects on the dynamics of many-nucleon systems.
Particle production in equilibrium and nonequilibrium quantum systems is calculated. The effects of the off-shell propagation of nucleons in medium on the particle production are discussed. Comparision to the semiclassical production rate is given.
Shell structures in the N\simeq Z nucleus ^{17}O and the neutron-rich oxygen isotopes ^{23}O and ^{25}O are microscopically described by calculating single-particle energies with modern nucleon-nucleon interactions within the framework of the unitary-model-operator approach. It is found that the effect of three-body cluster terms on the single-particle energy is more important in ^{23}O and ^{25}O than ^{17}O.
This paper discusses the derivation of an effective shell-model hamiltonian starting from a realistic nucleon-nucleon potential by way of perturbation theory. More precisely, we present the state of the art of this approach when the starting point is the perturbative expansion of the Q-box vertex function. Questions arising from diagrammatics, intermediate-states and order-by-order convergences, and their dependence on the chosen nucleon-nucleon potential, are discussed in detail, and the results of numerical applications for the p-shell model space starting from chiral next-to-next-to-next-to…
We discuss the use of the low-momentum nucleon-nucleon NN interaction V-low-k in the derivation of the shell-model effective interaction and emphasize its practical value as an alternative to the Brueckner G-matrix method. We present some selected results of our current study of exotic nuclei around closed shells, which have been obtained starting from the CD-Bonn potential. We also show some results of calculations performed with different phase-shift equivalent NN potentials, and discuss the effect of changes in the cutoff momentum which defines the V-low-k potential.
We have studied neutron-rich carbon isotopes in terms of the shell model employing a realistic effective hamiltonian derived from the chiral N3LOW nucleon-nucleon potential. The single-particle energies and effective two-body interaction have been both determined within the framework of the time-dependent degenerate linked-diagram perturbation theory. The calculated results are in very good agreement with the available experimental data, providing a sound description of this isotopic chain toward the neutron dripline. The correct location of the dripline is reproduced.
We report on a study of neutron-rich even-mass Te isotopes in terms of the shell model employing a realistic effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential. The strong short-range repulsion of the latter is renormalized by constructing a smooth low-momentum potential, V-low-k, that is used directly as input for the calculation of the effective interaction. In this paper, after a brief review of the theoretical framework, we present our results. Comparison shows that they are in very good agreement with the available experimental data.
In the last few years, the low-momentum nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction V-low-k derived from free-space NN potentials has been successfully used in shell-model calculations. V-low-k is a smooth potential which preserves the deuteron binding energy as well as the half-on-shell T-matrix of the original NN potential up to a momentum cutoff Lambda. In this paper we put to the test a new low-momentum NN potential derived from chiral perturbation theory at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order with a sharp low-momentum cutoff at 2.1 fm-1. Shell-model calculations for the oxygen isotopes using effec…
The unusual ratio of the neutron and proton transition matrix elements, $M_n/M_p$, may indicate the exotic feature of decoupled neutron and proton density distributions. In this contribution we show that these transition matrix elements are not the same as the ones calculated within the configuration-interaction shell model approach.
The role of the off-shell dependence of $ρ-ω$ mixing in the charge symmetry breaking nucleon-nucleon potential is discussed. It is shown that models describing the off-shell dependence of $ρ-ω$ mixing are not sufficient to determine the charge symmetry breaking nucleon-nucleon potential.
Algebraic models are proposed for the description of the shell-like quarteting of the nucleons both on the phenomenologic and on the semimicroscopic levels. In the previous one the quartet is considered as a structureless object, while in the latter one its constituents are treated explicitely. The excitation spectrum is generated by the SU(3) formalism in both cases. An application to the $^{20}$Ne nucleus is presented.
A low momentum nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential V-low-k is derived from meson exhange potentials by integrating out the model dependent high momentum modes of V_NN. The smooth and approximately unique V-low-k is used as input for shell model calculations instead of the usual Brueckner G matrix. Such an approach eliminates the nuclear mass dependence of the input interaction one finds in the G matrix approach, allowing the same input interaction to be used in different nuclear regions. Shell model calculations of 18O, 134Te and 135I using the same input V-low-k have been performed. For cut-off mo…
Shell model wave functions have been used to form microscopic g-folding optical potentials with which elastic scattering data from 8He, 10,11C, and 18,20,22O scattering on hydrogen has been analyzed. Those potentials, the effective two-nucleon interaction used in their formation, and the shell model details, then have been used in distorted wave approximation calculations of differential cross sections from inelastic scattering to the first excited states of five of those radioactive ions.
In this paper we obtain number of states with a given spin $I$ and a given isospin $T$ for systems with three and four nucleons in a single-$j$ orbit, by using sum rules of six-$j$ and nine-$j$ symbols obtained in earlier works.
In the context of simple models illustrating field transformations in Lagrangian field theories we discuss the impossibility of measuring off-shell effects in nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung, Compton scattering, and related processes. To that end we introduce a simple phenomenological Lagrangian describing nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung and perform an appropriate change of variables leading to different off-shell behavior in the nucleon-nucleon amplitude as well as the photon-nucleon vertex. As a result we obtain a class of equivalent Lagrangians, generating identical S-matrix elements, of whic…
The ab initio no-core shell model (NCSM) is extended to include a realistic three-body interaction in calculations for p-shell nuclei. The NCSM formalism is reviewed and new features needed in calculations with three-body forces are discussed in detail. We present results of first applications to 6,7Li, 6He, 7,8,10Be, 10,11,12B, 12N and 10,11,12,13C using the Argonne V8' nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential and the Tucson-Melbourne TM'(99) three-nucleon interaction (TNI). In addition to increasing the total binding energy, we observe a substantial sensitivity in the low-lying spectra to the presence…
A low momentum nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential $V_{low-k}$ is derived from meson exhange potentials by integrating out the model dependent high momentum modes of $V_{NN}$. The smooth and approximately unique $V_{low-k}$ is used as input for shell model calculations instead of the usual Brueckner $G$ matrix. Such an approach eliminates the nuclear mass dependence of the input interaction one finds in the $G$ matrix approach, allowing the same input interaction to be used in different nuclear regions. Shell model calculations of $^{18}$O and $^{134}$Te using the {\bf same} input $V_{low-k}$ have …
We perform \textit{ab initio} no-core shell-model calculations for $A=18$ and $19$ nuclei in a $4\hbarΩ$, or $N_{\rm max}=4$, model space by using the effective JISP16 and chiral N3LO nucleon-nucleon potentials and transform the many-body effective Hamiltonians into the $0\hbarΩ$ model space to construct the $A$-body effective Hamiltonians in the $sd$-shell. We separate the $A$-body effective Hamiltonians with $A=18$ and $A=19$ into inert core, one-, and two-body components. Then, we use these core, one-, and two-body components to perform standard shell-model calculations for the $A=18$ and $…
The ground-state energy of the doubly magic nuclei 4He and 16O has been calculated within the framework of the Goldstone expansion starting from modern nucleon-nucleon potentials. A low-momentum potential V-low-k has been derived from the bare potential by integrating out its high-momentum components beyond a cutoff Lambda. We have employed a simple criterion to relate this cutoff momentum to a boundary condition for the two-nucleon model space spanned by a harmonic-oscillator basis. Convergence of the results has been obtained with a limited number of oscillator quanta.
The spin-orbit splittings in the spectra of nuclei with mass numbers 5, 15 and 17 are studied within the framework of shell-model configuration mixing calculations including 2$\hbar ω$ excitations. The contributions of the two-body spin-orbit and tensor components of the nucleon-nucleon interaction are studied in various model spaces. It is found that the effects of the two-body spin-orbit interaction are dominant and quite sensitive to the size of the model-space considered. The effects of the tensor interaction are weaker. The correlations effects which are included in the larger (0+2) $\hba…
Spectroscopic amplitudes are calculated for one--nucleon transfer between low--lying, normal--parity states of nuclei in the lower part of the 1p$0\,$f--shell. Calculations are performed using shell--model wave functions obtained from the diagonalization procedure of a nuclear Hamiltonian in the space given by the complete set of states generated from the 1p$_{3/2}$, 1p$_{1/2}$, $0\,$f$_{7/2}$ and $0\,$f$_{5/2}$ orbits. The Hamiltonian contains one and two body interactions derived recently by Richter \etal. Sum rules for one--nucleon pick--up and stripping reactions are given. The selectivity…
The off-shell behavior of the nucleon self-energy in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter is investigated within the framework of relativistic Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach based on projection techniques. The dependence of the Dirac components of the self-energy on momentum as well as energy is evaluated for symmetric as well as asymmetric nuclear matter. Special attention is paid to the various contributions to the momentum dependence of the real and imaginary part of the optical potential. The consequences to the different definitions of the effective nucleon mass and particle spectral …
We study a method by which realistic nucleon-nucleon potentials V_NN can be reduced, in a physically equivalent way, to an effective low-momentum potential V-low-k confined within a cut-off momentum k-cut. Our effective potential is obtained using the folded-diagram method of Kuo, Lee and Ratcliff, and it is shown to preserve the half-on-shell T-matrix. Both the Andreozzi-Lee-Suzuki and the Andreozzi-Krenciglowa-Kuo iteration methods have been employed in carrying out the reduction. Calculations have been performed for the Bonn A and Paris NN potentials, using various choices for k-cut such as…
We have studied the low lying magnetic spectra of 12C, 16O, 40Ca, 48Ca and 208Pb nuclei within the Random Phase Approximation (RPA) theory, finding that the description of low-lying magnetic states of doubly-closed-shell nuclei imposes severe constraints on the spin and tensor terms of the nucleon-nucleon effective interaction. We have first made an investigation by using four phenomenological effective interactions and we have obtained good agreement with the experimental magnetic spectra, and, to a lesser extent, with the electron scattering responses. Then we have made self-consistent RPA c…
The relativistic Hartree approximation predicts a deep attractive potential for antinucleon, which largely reduce the threshold energies of the nucleon-antinucleon (N-Nbar) production. This effect has played an important role to explain the quenching of the Gamow-Teller (GT) strength because the quenched strength in the particle-hole excitation is partially taken by the nucleon-antinucleon production. On the other hand antiproton experiments do not reveal deep attractive potential for antinucleon. In this paper we study energy-dependence of the nucleon self-energies in the relativistic Hartree…
Shell-model calculations in a large model space are performed for _Λ^{16}O and_Λ^{17}O. Effective interactions with degrees of freedom of Σin addition to Λand nucleons are derived from hyperon-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon interactions within the framework of the unitary-model-operator approach. Effects of the Σdegrees of freedom and the parity-mixing intershell coupling on the Λhypernuclear structure are investigated, employing the Nijmegen NSC97a-f and NSC89 hyperon-nucleon potentials.
A study of the shape transition from spherical to axially deformed nuclei in the even Ce isotopes using the nucleon-pair approximation of the shell model is reported. As long as the structure of the dominant collective pairs is determined using a microscopic framework appropriate to deformed nuclei, the model is able to produce a shape transition. However, the resulting transition is too rapid, with nuclei that should be transitional being fairly well deformed, perhaps reflecting the need to maintain several pairs with each angular momentum.
In a previous work we considered the number of pairs of particles with angular momentum J12 for systems with angular momentum zero. Here we extend the work to states of any total angular momentum. We find simplified relations satisfied for a system of four nucleoons with isospin zero and two.
We use equations for Faddeev amplitudes to solve the shell-model problem for four nucleons in the model space that includes up to 14 hbar Omega harmonic-oscillator excitations above the unperturbed ground state. Two- and three-body effective interactions derived from the Reid93 and Argonne V8' nucleon-nucleon potentials are used in the calculations. Binding energies, excitations energies, point-nucleon radii and electromagnetic and strangeness charge form factors for 4He are studied. The structure of the Faddeev-like equations is discussed and a formula for matrix elements of the permutation o…
Spectroscopic factors involving well bound nucleons in light nuclei are calculated with standard shell model, no-core shell model and Gamow shell model. Continuum coupling is included exactly in the Gamow shell model, due to the use of the Berggren basis, which contains bound, resonance and scattering states. Conversely, it is absent from standard and no-core shell models, where a basis of harmonic oscillator states is used. As the A - 1 nuclei for which spectroscopic factors are calculated are either weakly bound or unbound, coupling to continuum is prominent, even though the A nuclei are wel…
A review is presented of the development and current status of nuclear shell-model calculations in which the two-body effective interaction is derived from the free nucleon-nucleon potential. The significant progress made in this field within the last decade is emphasized, in particular as regards the so-called V-low-k approach to the renormalization of the bare nucleon-nucleon interaction. In the last part of the review we first give a survey of realistic shell-model calculations from early to present days. Then, we report recent results for neutron-rich nuclei near doubly magic 132Sn and for…
The effect of the two-nucleon excitation from $p$ to $sd$ shell is discussed in $^{12}$C and $^{14}$C in the frame work of shell model. The recently suggested shell-model Hamiltonian YSOX provides an suitable tool to investigate the $2~\hbarω$ excitation in $psd$ region. Because the strength of the $<pp|V|sdsd>$ interaction, which represents the interaction between the $0~\hbarω$ and $2~\hbarω$ configurations, is considered in the construction of the YSOX. The level of $^{12}$C is almost independent on the $<pp|V|sdsd>$ interaction, but excitation energies of certain states in $^{14}$C are str…
Shell-model calculations for several mass 16-19 nuclei are performed using the N$^3$LO two-nucleon potential $V_{2N}$ with and without the addition of an in-medium three-nucleon potential $V_{3N}^{med}$, which is a density-dependent effective two-nucleon potential recently derived from the leading-order chiral three-nucleon force $V_{3N}$ by Holt, Kaiser, and Weise. We first calculate the $V_{low-k}$ low-momentum interactions from $V_{2N}$ and $V_{3N}^{med}$. The shell-model effective interactions for both the $sd$ one-shell and $sdpf$ two-shell model spaces are then obtained from these low-mo…
We use Faddeev's decomposition to solve the shell-model problem for three nucleons. The dependence on harmonic-oscillator excitations allowed in the model space, up to $32 \hbarΩ$ in the present calculations, and on the harmonic-oscillator frequency is studied. Effective interactions derived from Nijmegen II and Reid93 potentials are used in the calculations. The binding energies obtained are close to those calculated by other methods. The structure of the Faddeev equations is discussed and a simple formula for matrix elements of the permutation operators in a harmonic-oscillator basis is give…
Nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung has long been considered a way of getting information about the off-shell nucleon-nucleon amplitude which would allow one to distinguish among nucleon-nucleon potentials based on their off-shell properties. There have been many calculations and many experiments devoted to this aim. We show here, in contrast to this standard view, that such off-shell amplitudes are not measurable as a matter of principle. This follows formally from the invariance of the S-matrix under transformations of the fields. This result is discussed here and illustrated via two simple model…
This paper is an homage to the seminal work of Gerry Brown and Tom Kuo, where shell model calculations were performed for 18O and 18F using an effective interaction derived from the Hamada-Johnston nucleon-nucleon potential. That work has been the first successful attempt to provide a description of nuclear structure properties starting from the free nucleon-nucleon potential. We shall compare the approach employed in the 1966 paper with the derivation of a modern realistic shell-model interaction for sd-shell nuclei, evidencing the progress that has been achieved during the last decades.
It is well known that intranuclear-cascade models generally overestimate the cross sections for one-proton removal from heavy, stable nuclei by a high-energy proton beam, but they yield reasonable predictions for one-neutron removal from the same nuclei and for one-nucleon removal from light targets. We use simple shell-model calculations to investigate the reasons of this deficiency. We find that a correct description of the neutron skin and of the energy density in the nuclear surface is crucial for the aforementioned observables. Neither ingredient is sufficient if taken separately.
For a set of realistic nucleon-nucleon potentials we evaluate microscopic parameters of binary collisions: a time duration of the scattering state, a mean distance and a rotation of nucleons during a collision. These parameters enter the kinetic equation as non-instantaneous and non-local corrections of the scattering integral, i.e., they can be experimentally tested. Being proportional to off-shell derivatives of the scattering T-matrix, non-instantaneous and non-local corrections make it possible to compare the off-shell behavior of different potentials in a vicinity of the energy shell. The…
We investigate the observable effects of off-shell propagation of nucleons in heavy-ion collisions at SIS energies. Within a semi-classical BUU transport model we find a strong enhancement of subthreshold particle production when off-shell nucleons are propagated.
Applications of rotational $SU(3)$ symmetry in nuclei, using Elliott's $SU(3)$ or pseudo-$SU(3)$ or proxy-$SU(3)$ model, often need just the lowest or leading $SU(3)$ irreducible representation (irrep) $(λ_H, μ_H)$. For nucleons in an oscillator shell $η$, with ${\cal N}=(η+1)(η+2)/2$, we have the algebra $U(r{\cal N}) \supset [U({\cal N}) \supset SU(3)] \otimes SU(r)$; $r=2$ when there are only valence protons or neutrons and $r=4$ for nucleons with isospin $T$. Presented in this paper is a simple general formula for the leading $SU(3)$ irrep $(λ_H, μ_H)$ in any given irrep $\{f\}$ of $U({\ca…
For nearly fifty years theoretical and experimental efforts in nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung (NN$γ$) have been devoted to measuring off-shell amplitudes and distinguishing among various NN potentials on the basis of their off-shell behavior. New experiments are underway, designed specifically to attain kinematics further off shell than in the past, and thus to be more sensitive to the off-shell behavior. This letter shows that, contrary to these expectations, and due to the invariance of the S-matrix under transformations of the fields, the off-shell NN amplitude is as a matter of principle a…
Constructing microscopic effective interactions (`optical potentials') for nucleon-nucleus (NA) elastic scattering requires in first order off-shell nucleon-nucleon (NN) scattering amplitudes between the projectile and the struck target nucleon and nonlocal one-body density matrices. While the NN amplitudes and the {\it ab intio} no-core shell-model (NCSM) calculations always contain the full spin structure of the NN problem, one-body density matrices used in traditional microscopic folding potential neglect spin contributions inherent in the one-body density matrix. Here we derive and show th…
We present No-Core Full Configuration results for the ground state energies of all particle-stable p-shell nuclei, as well as the excitation energies of more than 40 narrow states, excluding isobaric analog states. We used the chiral LENPIC nucleon-nucleon plus three-nucleon interaction at N2LO with semi-local coordinate space regulators, and also the phenomenological Daejeon16 nucleon-nucleon potential. With simple exponential extrapolations of the total energies of each state, binding energies and spectra are found to be in good agreement with experiment. Both interactions produce a trend to…
The Similarity Renormalization Group (SRG) is used to soften interactions for ab initio nuclear structure calculations by decoupling low- and high-energy Hamiltonian matrix elements. The substantial contribution of both initial and SRG-induced three-nucleon forces requires their consistent evolution in a three-particle basis space before applying them to larger nuclei. While in principle the evolved Hamiltonians are unitarily equivalent, in practice the need for basis truncation introduces deviations, which must be monitored. Here we present benchmark no-core full configuration calculations wi…
A simple approximation to shell model is proposed in which the low energy excitation spectra corresponds to the identical nucleons occupying the same single particle states where they preferred to form pairs for the ground states. We call this approximation as nonzero angular momentum pairing shell model. It not only reduces the dimensionality of the shell model but also matches the number of low energy levels in experimental spectra for few cases where exact shell model predicts many more states. The special focus has been done to consider the realistic interaction derived from free nucleon-n…
A microscopic model of the electromagnetic form factor of the nucleon is developed in a hadronic framework, including pions, nucleons and the Delta-resonance explicitly. The space like on-shell form factors are reproduced and predictions for the half off-shell dependence are made. The impact of this off-shell dependence in the time like sector (q^2 < 1 GeV^2, thus including the region of vector meson dominance) is of main interest in this investigation.
The fundamental description of both structural properties and reactions of light nuclei in terms of constituent protons and neutrons interacting through nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon forces is a long-sought goal of nuclear theory. I will briefly present a promising technique, built upon the {\em ab initio} no-core shell model, which emerged recently as a candidate to reach such a goal: the no-core shell model/resonating-group method. This approach, capable of describing simultaneously both bound and scattering states in light nuclei, complements a microscopic cluster technique with the use…
The convergence of no-core shell model (NCSM) calculations using renormalization group evolved low-momentum two-nucleon interactions is studied for light nuclei up to Li-7. Because no additional transformation was used in applying the NCSM framework, the energy calculations satisfy the variational principle for a given Hamiltonian. Dramatic improvements in convergence are found as the cutoffs are lowered. The renormalization group equations are truncated at two-body interactions, so the evolution is only approximately unitary and converged energies for A > 2 vary with the cutoff. This approxim…
The relativistic particle-vibration coupling (RPVC) model is extended by the inclusion of spin- and isospin-flip excitation modes into the phonon space, introducing a new mechanism of dynamical interaction between nucleons with different isospin in the nuclear medium. Protons and neutrons exchange by collective modes which are formed by isovector $π$ and $ρ$-mesons, in turn, softened considerably because of coupling to nucleons of the medium. These modes are investigated within the proton-neutron relativistic random phase approximation (pn-RRPA) and relativistic proton-neutron time blocking ap…
We calculate electromagnetic form factors of the proton bound in specified orbits for several closed shell nuclei. The quark structure of the nucleon and the shell structure of the finite nuclei are given by the QMC model. We find that orbital electromagnetic form factors of the bound nucleon deviate significantly from those of the free nucleon.
First self-consistent realistic shell-model calculation for the light p-shell nuclei is performed, starting from the high-precision nucleon-nucleon (NN) CD-Bonn potential. This realistic potential is renormalized deriving a low-momentum NN potential V-low-k that preserves exactly the two-nucleon low-energy physics. This V-low-k is suitable to derive a self-consistent Hartree-Fock basis that is employed to derive both effective single-particle energies and residual two-body matrix elements for the shell-model hamiltonian. Results obtained show the reliability of such a fundamental microscopic a…
