In the episodic accretion scenario, a large fraction of the protostellar mass accretes during repeated and large bursts of accretion. Since outbursts on protostars are typically identified at specific wavelengths, interpreting these outbursts requires converting this change in flux to a change in total luminosity. The Class I young stellar object EC 53 in the Serpens Main cloud has undergone repeated increases in brightness at 850 $μ$m that are likely caused by bursts of accretion. In this study, we perform two- and three-dimensional continuum radiative transfer modeling to quantify the internal luminosity rise in EC 53 that corresponds to the factor of $\sim$1.5 enhancement in flux at 850 $μ$m. We model the spectral energy distribution and radial intensity profile in both the quiescent and outburst phases. The internal luminosity in the outburst phase is $\sim 3.3$ times brighter than the luminosity in the quiescent phase. The radial intensity profile analysis demonstrates that the detected sub-mm flux variation of EC 53 comes from the heated envelope by the accretion burst. We also find that the role of external heating of the EC 53 envelope by the interstellar radiation field is insignificant.
The Gaia Alert System issued an alert on 2020 August 28, on Gaia 20eae when its light curve showed a $\sim$4.25 magnitude outburst. We present multi-wavelength photometric and spectroscopic follow-up observations of this source since 2020 August and identify it as the newest member of the FUor/EXor family of sources. We find that the present brightening of Gaia 20eae is not due to the dust clearing event but due to an intrinsic change in the spectral energy distribution. The light curve of Gaia 20eae shows a transition stage during which most of its brightness ($\sim$3.4 mag) has occurred at a…
We investigate four young, but non-accreting, very low mass stars in Orion, which show irregular eclipses by circumstellar dust. The eclipses are not recurring periodically, are variable in depth, lack a flat bottom, and their duration is comparable to the typical timescale between eclipses. The dimming is associated with reddening consistent with dust extinction. Taken together this implies the presence of rings around these four stars, with radii ranging from 0.01 to 40 AU, comprised of optically thin dust clouds. The stars also show IR excess indicating the presence of evolved circumstellar…
Massive protostars grow and evolve under the effect of rapid accretion of circumstellar gas and dust, falling at high rates ($\ge 10^{-4}$-$10^{-3}\, \rm M_{\odot}\, \rm yr^{-1}$). This mass infall has been shown, both numerically and observationally, to be episodically interspersed by accretion of dense gaseous clumps migrating through the circumstellar disc to the protostellar surface, causing sudden accretion and luminous bursts. Using numerical gravito-radiation-hydrodynamics and stellar evolution calculations, we demonstrate that, in addition to the known bloating of massive protostars, v…
We investigate the nature of an unusually faint member of the $ε$ Cha Association ($D\sim100$ pc, age $\sim5$ Myr), the nearest region of star formation of age $<$8 Myr. This object, 2MASS J11550336-7919147 (2M1155$-$79B), is a wide ($\sim$580 AU) separation, comoving companion to low-mass (M3) $ε$ Cha Association member 2MASS J11550485-7919108 (2M1155$-$79A). We present near-infrared spectra of both components, along with analysis of photometry from Gaia EDR3, 2MASS, VHS, and WISE. The near-IR spectrum of 2M1155$-$79B displays strong He I 1.083 emission, a sign of active accretion and/or accr…
We have measured the surface magnetic flux on four accreting young brown dwarfs and one non-accreting young very low-mass star utilizing high resolution spectra of absorption lines of the FeH molecule. A magnetic field of 1-2 kG had been proposed for one of the brown dwarfs, 2MASS J1207334$-$393254, because of its similarities to higher mass T Tauri stars as manifested in accretion and the presence of a jet. We do not find clear evidence for a kilo-Gauss field in any of our young brown dwarfs but do find a 2 kG field on the young VLM star. Our 3-$σ$ upper limit for the magnetic flux in 2MASS J…
Episodic accretion-driven outbursts are an extreme manifestation of accretion variability. It has been proposed that the development of gravitational instabilities in the proto-circumstellar medium of massive young stellar objects (MYSOs) can lead to such luminous bursts, when clumps of fragmented accretion discs migrate onto the star. We simulate the early evolution of MYSOs formed by the gravitational collapse of rotating 100 M pre-stellar cores and analyze the characteristics of the bursts that episodically accompany their strongly time-variable protostellar lightcurve. We predict that MYSO…
We present recent results obtained with the VLT/MUSE Integral Field Spectrograph fed by the 4LGSF and its laser tomography adaptive optics module GALACSI. While this so-called narrow-field mode of MUSE was not designed to perform directly imaging of exoplanets and outflows, we show that it can be a game changer to detect and characterize young exoplanets with a prominent emission lines (i.e Hα, tracer of accretion), at moderate contrasts. These performances are achieved thanks to the combo of a near-diffraction limited PSF and a medium resolution spectrograph and a cross-correlation approach i…
This work is the first attempt to describe the multi-dimensional structure of accreting young stars based on fully compressible time implicit multi-dimensional hydrodynamics simulations. One major motivation is to analyse the validity of accretion treatment used in previous 1D stellar evolution studies. We analyse the effect of accretion on the structure of a realistic stellar model of the young Sun. Our work is inspired by the numerical work of Kley \& Lin (1996, ApJ, 461, 933) devoted to the structure of the boundary layer in accretion disks. We analyse the redistribution of accreted materia…
We explore UV and optical variability signatures for several hundred members of NGC 2264 (3 Myr). We performed simultaneous u- and r-band monitoring over two full weeks with CFHT/MegaCam. About 750 young stars are probed; 40% of them are accreting. Statistically distinct variability properties are observed for accreting and non-accreting cluster members. The accretors exhibit a significantly higher level of variability than the non-accretors, especially in the UV. The amount of u-band variability correlates statistically with UV excess in disk-bearing objects, which suggests that accretion and…
Young stellar objects (YSOs) may not accumulate their mass steadily, as was previously thought, but in a series of violent events manifesting themselves as sharp stellar brightening. These events can be caused by fragmentation due to gravitational instabilities in massive gaseous disks surrounding young stars, followed by migration of dense gaseous clumps onto the star. We report our high angular resolution, coronagraphic near-infrared polarization imaging observations using the High Contrast Instrument for the Subaru Next Generation Adaptive Optics (HiCIAO) of the Subaru 8.2 m Telescope, towa…
Line-of-sight extinction estimates to well-studied young T Tauri and Herbig Ae/Be stars are based on many different measurements and analysis methods. This has resulted in wide scatter among the published $A_V$ values for the same star. In this work, we discuss the challenges in measuring extinction to actively accreting and especially outbursting young stellar objects (YSOs). We then explore a method not previously applied to young stars utilizing diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs). In early-type stars, narrow correlations exist between DIB equivalent widths and the column density of interstel…
Context. The lack of knowledge of photospheric parameters and the level of chromospheric activity in young low-mass pre-main sequence stars introduces uncertainties when measuring mass accretion rates in accreting (Class II) Young Stellar Objects. A detailed investigation of the effect of chromospheric emission on the estimates of mass accretion rate in young low-mass stars is still missing. This can be undertaken using samples of young diskless (Class III) K and M-type stars. Aims. Our goal is to measure the chromospheric activity of Class III pre main sequence stars to determine its effect o…
We report the discovery of a young, 0.16" binary, 2M2234+4041AB, found as the result of a Keck laser guide star adaptive optics imaging survey of young field ultracool dwarfs. Spatially resolved near-infrared photometry and spectroscopy indicate that the luminosity and temperature ratios of the system are near unity. From optical and near-infrared spectroscopy, we determine a composite spectral type of M6 for the system. Gravity-sensitive spectral features in the spectra of 2M2234+4041AB are best matched to those of young objects (~1 Myr old). A comparison of the Teff and age of 2M2234+4041AB …
The central engines of disc-accreting stellar-mass black holes appear to be scaled down versions of the supermassive black holes that power active galactic nuclei. However, if the physics of accretion is universal, it should also be possible to extend this scaling to other types of accreting systems, irrespective of accretor mass, size, or type. We examine new observations, obtained with Kepler/K2 and ULTRACAM, regarding accreting white dwarfs and young stellar objects. Every object in the sample displays the same linear correlation between the brightness of the source and its amplitude of var…
We present a model for the rotational evolution of a young, solar-mass star interacting magnetically with an accretion disk. As in a previous paper (Paper I), the model includes changes in the star's mass and radius as it descends the Hayashi track, a decreasing accretion rate, and a prescription for the angular momentum transfer between the star and disk. Paper I concluded that, for the relatively strong magnetic coupling expected in real systems, additional processes are necessary to explain the existence of slowly rotating pre-main-sequence stars. In the present paper, we extend the stellar…
We present self-consistent calculations coupling numerical hydrodynamics simulations of collapsing pre-stellar cores and stellar evolution models of accreting objects. We analyse the main impact of consistent accretion history on the evolution and lithium depletion of young low-mass stars and brown dwarfs. These consistent models confirm the generation of a luminosity spread in Herzsprung-Russell diagrams at ages $\sim$ 1-10 Myr. They also confirm that early accretion can produce objects with abnormal Li depletion, as found in a previous study that was based on arbitrary accretion rates. The r…
We report on the discovery of periodic dips in the multiband lightcurve of ISO-ChaI 52, a young stellar object in the Chamaeleon I dark cloud. This is one among the peculiar objects that display very low or negligible accretion both in their UV continuum and spectral lines, although they present a remarkable infrared excess emission characteristic of optically-thick circumstellar disks. We have analyzed a VLT/X-Shooter spectrum with the tool ROTFIT to determine the stellar parameters. The latter, along with photometry from our campaign with the REM telescope and from the literature, have allow…
The Trifid Nebula is a young, nearby star-forming region where star formation is proposed to have been triggered by cloud-cloud collision (CCC), based on observations of molecular clouds. It offers a unique opportunity to test whether the CCC hypothesis is supported by the spatial distribution and star formation chronology of young stars. We present the first study of the optically visible pre-main sequence (PMS) population of the region using riH$α$ imaging and Gaia astrometry. Combined with an analysis of young stellar objects (YSOs) using infrared imaging, we capture the spatial distributio…
The formation timescale and final architecture of exoplanetary systems are closely related to the properties of the molecular disks from which they form. Observations of the spatial distribution and lifetime of the molecular gas at planet-forming radii (r < 10 AU) are important for understanding the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems. Towards this end, we present the largest spectrally resolved survey of H2 emission around low-mass pre-main sequence stars compiled to date. We use a combination of new and archival far-ultraviolet spectra from the COS and STIS instruments on the Hub…
We present X-ray spectral analysis of the accreting young star TW Hydrae from a 489 ks observation using the Chandra High Energy Transmission Grating. The spectrum provides a rich set of diagnostics for electron temperature T_e, electron density N_e, hydrogen column density N_H, relative elemental abundances and velocities and reveals its source in 3 distinct regions of the stellar atmosphere: the stellar corona, the accretion shock, and a very large extended volume of warm postshock plasma. The presence of Mg XII, Si XIII, and Si XIV emission lines in the spectrum requires coronal structures …
We present a model for the rotational evolution of a young, solar mass star interacting with an accretion disk. The model incorporates a description of the angular momentum transfer between the star and disk due to a magnetic connection, and includes changes in the star's mass and radius and a decreasing accretion rate. The model also includes, for the first time in a spin evolution model, the opening of the stellar magnetic field lines, as expected to arise from twisting via star-disk differential rotation. In order to isolate the effect that this has on the star-disk interaction torques, we …
PDS 70b is a recently discovered and directly imaged exoplanet within the wide ($\gtrsim$40 au) cavity around PDS 70 (Keppler et al. 2018, Müller et al. 2018). Ongoing accretion onto the central star suggests that accretion onto PDS 70b may also be ongoing. We present the first high contrast images at H$α$ (656 nm) and nearby continuum (643 nm) of PDS 70 utilizing the MagAO system. The combination of these filters allows for the accretion rate of the young planet to be inferred, as hot infalling hydrogen gas will emit strongly at H$α$ over the optical continuum. We detected a source in H$α$ at…
(Abridged) We present the results of the first unbiased survey for metal pollution among H-atmosphere (DA) white dwarfs with cooling ages of 20-200 Myr and 17000K < Teff < 27000K, using HST COS in the far UV between 1130 and 1435 A. The atmospheric parameters and element abundances are determined using theoretical models, which include the effects of element stratification due to gravitational settling and radiative levitation. We find 48 of the 85 DA white dwarfs studied, or 56% show traces of metals. In 25 stars, the elements can be explained by radiative levitation alone, although we argue …
We present initial result of a large spectroscopic survey aimed at measuring the timescale of mass accretion in young, pre-main-sequence stars in the spectral type range K0 - M5. Using multi-object spectroscopy with VIMOS at the VLT we identified the fraction of accreting stars in a number of young stellar clusters and associations of ages between 1 - 50 Myr. The fraction of accreting stars decreases from ~60% at 1.5 - 2 Myr to ~2% at 10 Myr. No accreting stars are found after 10 Myr at a sensitivity limit of $10^{-11}$ Msun yr-1. We compared the fraction of stars showing ongoing accretion (f_…
OTS44 is one of only four free-floating planets known to have a disk. We have previously shown that it is the coolest and least massive known free-floating planet ($\sim$12 M$_{\rm Jup}$) with a substantial disk that is actively accreting. We have obtained Band 6 (233 GHz) ALMA continuum data of this very young disk-bearing object. The data shows a clear unresolved detection of the source. We obtained disk-mass estimates via empirical correlations derived for young, higher-mass, central (substellar) objects. The range of values obtained are between 0.07 and 0.63 M$_{\oplus}$ (dust masses). We …
(Abridged*) Models of the young solar nebula assume a hot initial disk with most volatiles are in the gas phase. The question remains whether an actively accreting disk is warm enough to have gas-phase water up to 50 AU radius. No detailed studies have yet been performed on the extent of snowlines in an embedded accreting disk (Stage 0). Quantify the location of gas-phase volatiles in embedded actively accreting disk system. Two-dimensional physical and radiative transfer models have been used to calculate the temperature structure of embedded protostellar systems. Gas and ice abundances of H$…
HD 49798/RX J0648.0--4418 is a peculiar X-ray binary with a hot subdwarf (sdO) mass donor. The nature of the accreting compact object is not known, but its spin period $P=13.2$~s and $\dot P =-2.15 \times 10^{-15}$s~s$^{-1}$, prove that it can be only either a white dwarf or a neutron star. The spin-up has been very stable for more than 20 years. We demonstrate that the continuous stable spin-up of the compact companion of HD 49798 can be best explained by contraction of a young white dwarf with an age $\sim 2$~Myrs. This allows us to interpret all the basic parameters of the system in the fra…
Accretion disks are one of the key ingredients of the star formation process. They redistribute angular momentum and, in the case of high-mass stars (M > 8Msun), disks would relieve the radiation pressure on the accreting material, in particular in the equatorial direction, by beaming the radiation through the poles of the system and this would allow the accretion to proceed onto the central protostar (e.g., Tan et al. 2014 for a review on massive star formation). In fact, in recent years, all high-mass star-forming theories appear to converge to a disk-mediated accretion scenario (e.g., Krumh…
Classical T Tauri stars are low mass young forming stars that are surrounded by a circumstellar accretion disc from which they gain mass. Despite this accretion and their own contraction that should both lead to their spin up, these stars seem to conserve instead an almost constant rotational period as long as the disc is maintained. Several scenarios have been proposed in the literature in order to explain this puzzling "disc-locking" situation: either deposition in the disc of the stellar angular momentum by the stellar magnetosphere or its ejection through winds, providing thereby an explan…
We present the first observations of a probable brown dwarf, obtained with the new spectrograph X-shooter mounted on the UT2@VLT. The target (2MASS J053825.4-024241) is a 0.06 Msun object in the star-formation region sigma Orionis. The X-shooter spectrum covers simultaneously the whole range from UV to NIR (300-2500 nm). The J053825.4-024241 spectrum is rich in emission lines that are typical of accreting young object and clearly shows the Balmer jump. Moreover, many photospheric atomic and molecular absorption lines yield the spectral type and confirm that the object is young. We compute the …
Young T Tauri stars (TTS) are surrounded by an accretion disk, which over time disperses due to photoevaporation, accretion, and possibly planet formation. The accretion shock on the central star produces an UV/optical veiling continuum, line emission, and X-ray signatures. As the accretion rate decreases, the impact on the central star must change. In this article we study MN Lup, a young star where no indications of a disk are seen in IR observations. We present XMM-Newton and VLT/UVES observations, some of them taken simultaneously. The X-ray data show that MN Lup is an active star with L_X…
Context: The pre-main sequence evolution is often simplified by choosing classical initial models. These have large initial radii and sufficient uniform contraction to make them fully convective. Contrary to that, real stars are born as small protostellar seeds in collapsing molecular clouds and obtain their final mass by means of accretion. Aims: We aim to constrain the input physics of accretion on protostellar seeds with observed spectroscopic parameters and stellar pulsations of young stellar objects and pre-main sequence stars. Methods: We conducted a literature search for spectroscopic s…
Measurements of accretion rates onto planetary mass objects may distinguish between different planet formation mechanisms, which predict different accretion histories. In this Letter, we use \HST/WFC3 UVIS optical photometry to measure accretion rates onto three accreting objects, GSC06214-00210 b, GQ Lup b, and DH Tau b, that are at the planet/brown dwarf boundary and are companions to solar mass stars. The excess optical emission in the excess accretion continuum yields mass accretion rates of $10^{-9}$ to $10^{-11}$ \Msol/yr for these three objects. Their accretion rates are an order of mag…
We report on the discovery of the young, nearby, brown dwarf 2MASS J0041353$-$562112. The object has a spectral type of M7.5, it shows Li absorption and signatures of accretion, which implies that it still has a disk and suggests an age below 10 Myr. The space motion vector and position on the sky indicate that the brown dwarf is probably a member of the $\sim$20 Myr old Tuc-Hor association, or that it may be an ejected member of the $\sim$12 Myr old $β$ Pic association, both would imply that 2MASS J0041353$-$562112 may in fact be older than 10 Myr. No accreting star or brown dwarf was previou…
Recent works highlight the importance of stellar X-rays on the evolution of the circumstellar disks of young stellar objects, especially for disk photoevaporation. A signature of this process may be seen in the so far tentatively observed dependence of stellar accretion rates on X-ray luminosities. According to models of X-ray driven photoevaporation, stars with higher X-ray luminosities should show lower accretion rates, on average, in a sample with similar masses and ages. To this aim, we have analyzed X-ray properties of young stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster determined with Chandra during…
Current planet formation models are largely based on the observational constraint that protoplanetary disks have lifetime 3Myr. Recent studies, however, report the existence of PMS stars with signatures of accretion (strictly connected with the presence of circumstellar disks)and photometrically determined ages of 30 Myr, or more. Here we present a spectroscopic study of two major age outliers in the ONC. We use broad band, intermediate resolution VLT/X-Shooter spectra combined with an accurate method to determine the stellar parameters and the related age of the targets to confirm their pecul…
Observations have shown that the disk frequency and the fraction of accreting pre-main-sequence stars decrease with the age of the population and that some stars appear to have disks while their accretion has stopped. Still, it is unclear how disk-bearing stars stop their accretion. To provide insight into the last stages of accretion in low-mass young stars, we conducted a survey of disk-bearing stars that are thought to be non-accretors to identify stars still accreting at very low rates. Here we present the first catalog of the survey of 170 disk-bearing non-accreting stars in Chamaeleon I,…
Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams of star forming regions show a large luminosity spread. This is incompatible with well-defined isochrones based on classic non-accreting protostellar evo- lution models. Protostars do not evolve in isolation of their environment, but grow through accretion of gas. In addition, while an age can be defined for a star forming region, the ages of individual stars in the region will vary. We show how the combined effect of a protostellar age spread, a consequence of sustained star formation in the molecular cloud, and time-varying protostellar accretion for individual p…
We discuss accretion and outflow properties of three very low-mass young stellar objects based on broad-band mid-resolution X-Shooter/VLT spectra. Our targets (FU TauA, 2M 1207-39, and Par-Lup3-4) have spectral types between M5 and M8, ages between 1 Myr and ~10 Myr, and are known to be accreting from previous studies. The final objective of our project is the determination of mass outflow to accretion rate for objects near or within the substellar regime as a probe for the T Tauri phase of brown dwarfs and the investigation of variability in the accretion and outflow processes.
Strongly magnetized accreting stars are often hypothesized to be in `spin equilibrium' with their surrounding accretion flows, which requires that the accretion rate changes more slowly than it takes the star to reach spin equilibrium. This is not true for most magnetically accreting stars, which have strongly variable accretion outbursts on time-scales much shorter than the time it would take to reach spin equilibrium. This paper examines how accretion outbursts affect the time a star takes to reach spin equilibrium and its final equilibrium spin period. I consider several different models fo…
We aim at characterizing the accretion properties of several hundred members of the star-forming cluster NGC 2264 (3 Myr). We performed a deep u,g,r,i mapping and a simultaneous u+r monitoring of the region with CFHT/MegaCam in order to directly probe the accretion process from UV excess measurements. Photometric properties and stellar parameters are determined homogeneously for about 750 monitored young objects, spanning the mass range 0.1-2 Mo. About 40% are classical (accreting) T Tauri stars, based on various diagnostics (H_alpha, UV and IR excesses). The remaining non-accreting members de…
We investigate the young stellar objects (YSOs) in the Lynds~1641 (L1641) cloud using multi-wavelength data including Spitzer, WISE, 2MASS, and XMM covering ~1390 YSOs across a range of evolutionary stages. In addition, we targeted a sub-sample of YSOs for optical spectroscopy. We use this data, along with archival photometric data, to derive spectral types, extinction values, masses, ages, as well as accretion rates. We obtain a disk fraction of ~50% in L1641. The disk frequency is almost constant as a function of stellar mass with a slight peak at log(M_*/M_sun)\approx-0.25. The analysis of …
Our goal is to relate the photometric and spectroscopic variability of classical T Tauri stars, of the star-forming cluster NGC 2264, to the physical processes acting in the stellar and circumstellar environment, within a few stellar radii from the star. NGC 2264 was the target of a multiwavelength observational campaign with CoRoT, MOST, Spitzer, and Chandra satellites and observations from the ground. We classified the CoRoT light curves of accreting systems according to their morphology and compared our classification to several accretion diagnostics and disk parameters. The morphology of t…
In their earliest stages, protostars accrete mass from their surrounding envelopes through circumstellar disks. Until now, the smallest observed protostar/envelope mass ratio was ~2.1. The protostar L1527 IRS is thought to be in the earliest stages of star formation. Its envelope contains ~1 solar mass of material within a ~0.05 pc radius, and earlier observations suggested the presence of an edge-on disk. Here we report observations of dust continuum emission and 13CO (J=2-1) line emission from the disk around L1527, from which we determine a protostellar mass of M = 0.19 +/- 0.04 solar masse…
Veiling is ubiquitous at different wavelength ranges in accreting stars. However, the origin of the veiling in the IR domain is not well understood. The accretion spot alone is not enough to explain the shallow photospheric IR lines in accreting systems, suggesting that another source is contributing to the veiling in the NIR. The inner disk is often quoted as the additional emitting source meant to explain the IR veiling. In this work, we aim to measure and discuss the NIR veiling to understand its origins and variability timescale, using a sample of 14 accreting stars observed with the CFHT/…
Strong, kilo-Gauss, magnetic fields are required to explain a range of observational properties in young, accreting pre-main sequence (PMS) systems. We review the techniques used to detect magnetic fields in PMS stars. Key results from a long running campaign aimed at characterising the large scale magnetic fields in accreting T Tauri stars are presented. Maps of surface magnetic flux in these systems can be used to build 3-D models exploring the role of magnetic fields and the efficiency with which magnetic fields can channel accretion from circumstellar disks on to young stars. Long-term var…
He accretion onto carbon-oxygen white dwarfs (CO WDs) plays a fundamental role when studying the formation of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia). Employing the MESA stellar evolution code, we calculated the long-term evolution of He-accreting CO WDs. Previous studies usually supposed that a WD can grow in mass to the Chandrasekhar limit in the stable He burning region and finally produce a SN Ia. However, in this study we find that off-centre carbon ignition occurs in the stable He burning region if the accretion rate is above a critical value (~2.05*10^{-6}{M$_\odot$}{yr}^-1), resulting in accretion…
Zeeman-Doppler imaging studies have revealed the complexity of the large-scale magnetic fields of accreting pre-main-sequence stars. All have multipolar magnetic fields with the octupole component being the dominant field mode for many of the stars studied thusfar. Young accreting stars with fully convective interiors often feature simple axisymmetric magnetic fields with dipole components of order a kilo-Gauss (at least those of mass $\gtrsim0.5\,{\rm M}_\odot$), while those with substantially radiative interiors host more complex non-axisymmetric magnetic fields with dipole components of ord…
