Observations have shown that the disk frequency and the fraction of accreting pre-main-sequence stars decrease with the age of the population and that some stars appear to have disks while their accretion has stopped. Still, it is unclear how disk-bearing stars stop their accretion. To provide insight into the last stages of accretion in low-mass young stars, we conducted a survey of disk-bearing stars that are thought to be non-accretors to identify stars still accreting at very low rates. Here we present the first catalog of the survey of 170 disk-bearing non-accreting stars in Chamaeleon I, Orion OB1, Upper Scorpius, $γ$ Velorum, and Upper Centaurus Lupus, using He I $λ$10830 as a sensitive probe of accretion. We classify the line profiles into six types and argue that those showing redshifted and/or blueshifted absorption are still accreting. Using these classifications, we found that, among disk-bearing stars previously classified as non-accretors, at least 20-30% are still accreting, with a larger fraction of those at younger population ages. While the difference between the outer disk signature and accretion status is unclear, we find a difference between the inner disk excess and accretion status. There is no preference in the mass of the newly identified accretors, suggesting that the processes inhibiting accretion do not directly depend on mass in the typical mass range of T Tauri stars. Lastly, we found that at a low accretion level, the H$α$ width at the 10% height criteria mischaracterizes a larger fraction of accretors than the line's equivalent width.
Much is known about the processes driving accretion from protoplanetary disks onto low-mass pre-main-sequence stars (T Tauri stars). Nevertheless, it is unclear how accretion stops. To determine the accretion properties and their relation to stellar properties and gain insight into the last stages of accretion, we present a detailed analysis of 24 low and possible accretors, previously identified using the He I $λ$10830 line. We model moderate-resolution H$α$ profiles of these stars using magnetospheric accretion flow models that account for the chromospheric contribution at the line center. B…
Debris disks are intimately linked to planetary system evolution since the rocky material surrounding the host stars is due to secondary generation from the collisions of planetesimals. With the conclusion and lack of future large scale infrared excess survey missions, it is time to summarize the history of using excess emission in the infrared as a tracer of debris. We have compiled a catalog of infrared excess stars from peer reviewed articles and performed an extensive search for new debris disks by cross correlating the Tycho 2 and AllWISE catalogs. This study will examine each debris disk…
Statistics of hierarchical systems containing three or more stars are continuously improving. The Multiple Star Catalog (MSC) is currently the most comprehensive catalogue of multiple-star systems and contains component masses, orbital periods, and additional information. The systems in the MSC are interesting for several reasons, including the long-term dynamical evolution of few-body systems. Although the secular evolution of triples and quadruples has been explored before, a systematic study of the systems in the MSC including also quintuples and sextuples has not been carried out. Here, we…

Globular clusters produce many exotic stars due to a much higher frequency of dynamical interactions in their dense stellar environments. Some of these objects were observed together with several hundred thousands other stars in our MUSE survey of 26 Galactic globular clusters. Assuming that at least a few exotic stars have exotic spectra, that means spectra that contain emission lines, we can use this large spectroscopic data set of over a million stellar spectra as a blind survey to detect stellar exotica in globular clusters. To detect emission lines in each spectrum, we model the expected …
We present three new candidate AM CVn binaries, plus one confirmed new system, from a spectroscopic survey of color-selected objects from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. All four systems were found from their helium emission lines in low-resolution spectra taken on the Hale telescope at Palomar, and the Nordic Optical Telescope and the William Herschel Telescope on La Palma. The ultra-compact binary nature of SDSS J090221.35+381941.9 was confirmed using phase-resolved spectroscopy at the Keck-I telescope. From the characteristic radial velocity `S-wave' observed in the helium emission lines we m…
Our aim is to compile a catalog of white dwarfs within 40 parsecs of the Sun, in which newly discovered objects would significantly increase the completeness of the current census. White dwarf candidates are identified from the SUPERBLINK proper motion database (Lepine & Shara 2005), which allows us to investigate stars down to a proper motion limit as low as 40 mas yr-1. The selection criteria and distance estimates are based on a combination of color-magnitude and reduced proper motion diagrams. Candidates with distances less than 50 parsecs are selected for spectroscopic follow-up. We prese…
Recent observations and a photometric search for variable stars in the Ursa Minor dwarf spheroidal galaxy (UMi dSph) are presented. Our observations were taken at Apache Point Observatory in 2014 and 2016 using the 0.5m ARCSAT telescope and the West Mountain Observatory 0.9m telescope of Brigham Young University in 2016. Previously known RR Lyrae stars in our field of view of the UMi dSph are identified, and we also catalog new variable star candidates. Tentative classifications are given for some of the new variable stars. We have conducted period searches with the data collected with the WMO…
We have searched for variable stars in deep V-band images of a field towards the Galactic plane in Carina. The images were taken with VIMOS instrument at ESO VLT during 4 contiguous nights in April 2005. We detected 348 variables among 50897 stars in the magnitude range between V=15.4 and V=24.5 mag. Upon detection, we classified the variables by direct eye inspection of their light curves. All variable objects but 9 OGLE transits in the field are new discoveries. We provide a complete catalog of all variables which includes eclipsing/ellipsoidal binaries, miscellaneous pulsators (mostly delta…
The conclusion of the WISE mission presents an opportune time to summarize the history of using excess emission in the infrared as a tracer of circumstellar material and exploit all available data for future missions such as JWST. We have compiled a catalog of infrared excess stars from peer-reviewed articles and perform an extensive search for new infrared excess stars by cross-correlating the Tycho-2 and AllWISE catalogs. We define a significance of excess in four spectral type divisions and select stars showing greater than either 3$σ$ or 5$σ$ significance of excess in the mid- and far-infr…
We present the preliminary results of a survey aimed at significantly increasing the range and completeness of the local census of spectroscopically confirmed white dwarfs. The current census of nearby white dwarfs is reasonably complete only to about 20 parsecs of the Sun, a volume that includes around 130 white dwarfs, a sample too small for detailed statistical analyses. This census is largely based on follow-up investigations of stars with very large proper motions. We describe here the basis of a method that will lead to a catalog of white dwarfs within 40 parsecs of the Sun and north of …
A new link in the causal mapping between massive stars and potentially fatal explosive transients opened with the 2008 discovery of the dust-obscured progenitors of the luminous outbursts in NGC 6946 and NGC 300. Here we carry out a systematic mid-IR photometric search for massive, luminous, self-obscured stars in four nearby galaxies: M33, NGC 300, M81, and NGC 6946. For detection, we use only the 3.6 micron and 4.5 micron IRAC bands, as these can still be used for multi-epoch Spitzer surveys of nearby galaxies (=<10 Mpc). We combine familiar PSF and aperture-photometry with an innovative app…
We present a catalog of high-precision proper motions in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC), based on Treasury Program observations with the Hubble Space Telescope's (HST) ACS/WFC camera. Our catalog contains 2,454 objects in the magnitude range of $14.2<m_{\rm F775W}<24.7$, thus probing the stellar masses of the ONC from $\sim$0.4 $M_\odot$ down to $\sim$0.02 $M_\odot$ over an area of $\sim$550 arcmin$^2$. We provide a number of internal velocity dispersion estimates for the ONC that indicate a weak dependence on the stellar location and mass. There is good agreement with the published velocity d…
Constraining stellar and orbital co-evolution through ensemble seismology of solar-like oscillators in binary systems -- A census of oscillating red-giants and main-sequence stars in Gaia DR3 binaries
We present a near-complete catalog of the metal-rich population of Thermally-Pulsing Asymptotic Giant Branch stars in the northwest quadrant of M31. This metal-rich sample complements the equally complete metal-poor Magellanic Cloud AGB catalogs produced by the SAGE program. Our catalog includes HST wide-band photometry from the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury survey, HST medium-band photometry used to chemically classify a subset of the sample, and Spitzer mid- and far-IR photometry that we have used to isolate dust-producing AGB stars. We have detected 346,623 AGB stars; these include…
We characterize twelve young stellar objects (YSOs) located in the Lupus I region, spatially overlapping with the Upper Centaurus Lupus (UCL) sub-stellar association. The aim of this study is to understand whether the Lupus I cloud has more members than what has been claimed so far in the literature and gain a deeper insight into the global properties of the region. We selected our targets using Gaia DR2 catalog, based on their consistent kinematic properties with the Lupus I bona fide members. In our sample of twelve YSOs observed by X-Shooter, we identified ten Lupus I members. We could not …
We have refined the census of stars and brown dwarfs in the Upper Sco association (~10 Myr, ~145 pc) by 1) updating the selection of candidate members from our previous survey to include the high-precision astrometry from the second data release of Gaia, 2) obtaining spectra of a few hundred candidate members to measure their spectral types and verify their youth, and 3) assessing the membership (largely with Gaia astrometry) of 2020 stars toward Upper Sco that show evidence of youth in this work and previous studies. We arrive at a catalog of 1761 objects that are adopted as members of Upper …

In this paper we present a catalogue of 11,745 brown dwarfs with spectral types ranging from L0 to T9, photometrically classified using data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) year 3 release matched to the Vista Hemisphere Survey (VHS) DR3 and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) data, covering approx 2,400 deg2 up to i_AB=22. The classification method follows the same photo-type method previously applied to SDSS-UKIDSS-WISE data. The most significant difference comes from the use of DES data instead of SDSS, which allow us to classify almost an order of magnitude more brown dwarfs than a…
We present here identification and characterization of the young stellar population associated with an active star-forming site Sh2-242. We used our own new optical imaging and spectroscopic observational data, as well as several archival catalogs, e.g., Pan-STARRS 1, $Gaia$ DR2, IPHAS, WIRCam, 2MASS, and $Spitzer$. Slit spectroscopic results confirm the classification of the main ionizing source BD+26 980 as an early-type star of spectral type B0.5 V. The spectrophotometric distance of the star is estimated as 2.08 $\pm$ 0.24 kpc, which confirms the source as a member of the cluster. An extin…
(ABRIDGED) Disentangling line-of-sight alignments of young stellar populations is crucial for observational studies of star-forming complexes. This task is particularly problematic in a Cygnus-X subregion where several components, located at different distances, are overlapped: the Berkeley 87 young massive cluster, the poorly-known [DB2001] Cl05 embedded cluster, and the ON2 star-forming complex, in turn composed of several HII regions. We aim at providing a methodology for building an exhaustive census of young objects that can consistently deal with large differences in both extinction and …
We summarize the results of our four year survey searching for Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). Over the course of this survey we've discovered 15 new WRs and 12 Of-type stars. In this last year we discovered two rare Of-type stars: an O6.5f?p and an O6nfp in addition to the two new Of?p stars discovered in our first year and the three Onfp stars discovered in our second and third years. However, even more exciting was our discovery of a new type of WR, ones we are calling WN3/O3s due to their spectroscopic signatures. We describe the …
We are undertaking the first systematic infrared (IR) census of R Coronae Borealis (RCB) stars in the Milky Way, beginning with IR light curves from the Palomar Gattini IR (PGIR) survey. PGIR is a 30 cm $J$-band telescope with a 25 deg$^{2}$ camera that is surveying 18000 deg$^{2}$ of the northern sky ($δ>-28^{o}$) at a cadence of 2 days. We present PGIR light curves for 922 RCB candidates selected from a mid-IR color-based catalog (Tisserand et al. 2020). Of these 922, 149 are promising RCB candidates as they show pulsations or declines similar to RCB stars. Majority of the candidates that ar…
Very young (t $\lesssim$ 10 Myrs) stars possess strong magnetic fields that channel ionized gas from the interiors of their circumstellar discs to the surface of the star. Upon impacting the stellar surface, the shocked gas recombines and emits hydrogen spectral lines. To characterize the density and temperature of the gas within these accretion streams, we measure equivalent widths of Brackett (Br) 11-20 emission lines detected in 1101 APOGEE spectra of 326 likely pre-main sequence accretors. For sources with multiple observations, we measure median epoch-to-epoch line strength variations of …
We study the properties of the coronae of the low-mass stars in the young (~2-3Myr), nearby (~310pc) open cluster IC348 combining X-ray and optical/infrared data. The four existing Chandra observations of IC348 are merged, thus providing a deeper and spatially more complete X-ray view than previous X-ray studies of the cluster. We have compiled a comprehensive catalog of IC348 members taking into account recent updates to the cluster census. Our data collection comprises fundamental stellar parameters, infrared excess indicating the presence of disks, Halpha emission as a tracer of chromospher…
I have used high-precision photometry and astrometry from the third data release of Gaia (DR3) to perform a survey for members of the Taurus star-forming region and young associations in its vicinity. This work has produced a new catalog of 532 adopted members of Taurus, which has only minor changes relative to the previous catalog from Esplin & Luhman 2019. I have used the Gaia astrometry to divide the Taurus members into 13 groups that have distinct kinematics. Meanwhile, I have identified 1378 candidate members of seven associations near Taurus. All of these associations have histograms of …
The DANCe survey provides photometric and astrometric (position and proper motion) measurements for approximately 2 millions unique sources in a region encompassing $\approx$80deg$^{2}$ centered around the Pleiades cluster. We aim at deriving a complete census of the Pleiades, and measure the mass and luminosity function of the cluster. Using the probabilistic selection method described in Sarro+2014, we identify high probability members in the DANCe ($i\ge$14mag) and Tycho-2 ($V\lesssim$12mag) catalogues, and study the properties of the cluster over the corresponding luminosity range. We find…
We have performed a WISE (Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer) based study to identify and characterize young stellar objects (YSOs) in 12x12 degree Perseus OB2 association. Spectral energy distribution (SED) slope in range of 3.4-12 micron and a 5sigma selection criteria were used to select our initial sample. Further manual inspection reduced our final catalog to 156 known and 119 YSO candidate. The spatial distribution of newly found YSOs all over the field shows an older generation of star formation which most of its massive members have evolved into main sequence stars. In contrast, the m…
We have conducted a study of star formation in the outer Galaxy from 65\degr$< l <$265\degr~in the region observed by the GLIMPSE360 program. This {\it Spitzer} warm mission program mapped the plane of the outer Milky Way with IRAC at 3.6 and 4.5~$μ$m. We combine the IRAC, {\it WISE}, and 2MASS catalogs and our previous results from another outer Galaxy survey and identify a total of 47,338 Young Stellar Objects (YSOs) across the field spanning $>$180\degr\ in Galactic longitude. Using the $DBSCAN$ method on the combined catalog, we identify 618 clusters or aggregations of YSOs having 5 or mor…
We have carried out a search for above-horizontal-branch (AHB) stars--objects lying above the horizontal branch (HB) and blueward of the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) in the color-magnitude diagram--in 97 Galactic and seven Magellanic Cloud globular clusters (GCs). We selected AHB candidates based on photometry in the $uBVI$ system, which is optimized for detection of low-gravity stars with large Balmer jumps, in the color range $-0.05\le(B-V)_0\le1.0$. We then used $Gaia$ astrometry and Gaussian-mixture modeling to confirm cluster membership and remove field interlopers. Our final catalog con…
We present a spectroscopic catalog of the 1,564 brightest (J<9) M dwarf candidates in the northern sky, as selected from the SUPERBLINK proper motion catalog. Observations confirm 1,408 of the candidates to be late-K and M dwarfs with spectral subtypes K7-M6. From the low μ>40 mas/yr proper motion limit and high level of completeness of the SUPERBLINK catalog in that magnitude range, we estimate that our spectroscopic census most likely includes >90% of all existing, northern-sky M dwarfs with apparent magnitude J<9. Only 682 stars in our sample are listed in the Third Catalog of Nearby Stars …

(ABRIDGED) We have analysed the near-infrared photometric data from the Fourth Data Release (DR4) of the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Suvey (UKIDSS) Galactic Clusters Survey (GCS) to derive the cluster luminosity and mass functions, evaluate the extent of the cluster, and study the distribution and variability of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs down to the deuterium-burning limit. We have recovered most of the previously published members and found a total of 287 candidate members within the central 30 arcmin in the 0.5-0.009 Msun mass range, including new objects not previously reported in the lit…
Large-scale gaseous filaments with length up to the order of 100 pc are on the upper end of the filamentary hierarchy of the Galactic interstellar medium. Their association with respect to the Galactic structure and their role in Galactic star formation are of great interest from both observational and theoretical point of view. Previous "by-eye" searches, combined together, have started to uncover the Galactic distribution of large filaments, yet inherent bias and small sample size limit conclusive statistical results to be drawn. Here, we present (1) a new, automated method to identify large…
[ABRIDGED] $ω$ Centauri (NGC 5139) contains large numbers of variable stars of different types and, in particular, more than a hundred RR Lyrae stars. We have conducted a variability survey of $ω$ Cen in the NIR, using ESO's 4.1m Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA). This is the first paper of a series describing our results. $ω$ Cen was observed using VIRCAM mounted on VISTA. A total of 42 and 100 epochs in $J$ and $K_{\rm S}$, respectively, were obtained, distributed over a total timespan of 352 days. PSF photometry was performed, and periods of the known variable star…
We have performed a census of the young stellar populations near the Corona Australis molecular cloud using photometric and kinematic data from several sources, particularly Gaia EDR3, and spectroscopy of hundreds of candidate members. We have compiled a catalog of 393 members of Corona Australis, (39 at >M6), 293 (36) of which are spectroscopically classified for the first time in this work. We find that Corona Australis can be described in terms of two stellar populations, a younger one (few Myr) that is partially embedded in the cloud (the Coronet Cluster) and an older one (~15 Myr) that su…
The interstellar medium has a highly filamentary and hierarchical structure, which may play a significant role in star formation. A systematical study on the large-scale filaments towards their physical parameters, distribution, structures and kinematics will inform us of what kind of filaments have potential to form stars, how the material feed protostars through filaments, and the connection between star formation and Galactic spiral arms. Unlike the traditional "by eyes" searches, we use a customized minimum spanning tree algorithm to identify filaments by linking Galactic clumps from the A…
Stellar variability in the near-infrared (NIR) remains largely unexplored. The exploitation of public science archives with data-mining methods offers a perspective for the time-domain exploration of the NIR sky. We perform a comprehensive search for stellar variability using the optical-NIR multi-band photometric data in the public Calibration Database of the WFCAM Science Archive (WSA), with the aim of contributing to the general census of variable stars, and to extend the current scarce inventory of accurate NIR light curves for a number of variable star classes. We introduce new variabilit…
Spitzer IRAC observations and stellar photometric catalogs are presented for the Massive Young Star-Forming Complex Study in the Infrared and X-ray (MYStIX). MYStIX is a multiwavelength census of young stellar members of twenty nearby (d < 4 kpc), Galactic, star-forming regions that contain at least one O star. All regions have data available from the Spitzer Space Telescope, consisting of GLIMPSE or other published catalogs for eleven regions and results of our own photometric analysis of archival data for the remaining nine regions. This paper seeks to construct deep and reliable catalogs of…
This paper presents a study of the rate and efficiency of star formation in the NGC 6334 star forming region. We obtained observations at J, H, and Ks taken with the NOAO Extremely Wide-Field Infrared Imager (NEWFIRM) and combined them with observations taken with the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) camera on the Spitzer Space Telescope at wavelengths λ = 3.6, 4.5, 5.8, and 8.0 μm. We also analyzed previous observations taken at 24 μm using the Spitzer MIPS camera as part of the MIPSGAL survey. We have produced a point source catalog with >700,000 entries. We have identified 2283 YSO candidates, …
To date, only 69 pulsars have been identified with a detected pulsed radio emission below 100 MHz. A LOFAR-core LBA census and a dedicated campaign with the Nançay LOFAR station in stand-alone mode were carried out in the years 2014$-$2017 in order to extend the known population in this frequency range. In this paper, we aim to extend the sample of known radio pulsars at low frequencies and to produce a catalogue in the frequency range of 25-80 MHz. This will allow future studies to probe the local Galactic pulsar population, in addition to helping explain their emission mechanism, better char…
We present a catalogue of dense cores in a $\sim 4^\circ\times2^\circ$ field of the Taurus star-forming region, inclusive of the L1495 cloud, derived from Herschel SPIRE and PACS observations in the 70 $μ$m, 160 $μ$m, 250 $μ$m, 350 $μ$m, and 500 $μ$m continuum bands. Estimates of mean dust temperature and total mass are derived using modified blackbody fits to the spectral energy distributions. We detect 525 starless cores of which $\sim10$-20% are gravitationally bound and therefore presumably prestellar. Our census of unbound objects is $\sim85$% complete for $M>0.015\,M_\odot$ in low densit…
The Star Formation in Nearby Clouds (SFiNCs) project is aimed at providing detailed study of the young stellar populations and star cluster formation in nearby 22 star forming regions (SFRs) for comparison with our earlier MYStIX survey of richer, more distant clusters. As a foundation for the SFiNCs science studies, here, homogeneous data analyses of the Chandra X-ray and Spitzer mid-infrared archival SFiNCs data are described, and the resulting catalogs of over 15300 X-ray and over 1630000 mid-infrared point sources are presented. On the basis of their X-ray/infrared properties and spatial d…
In order to assess the multiplicity statistics of stars across spectral types and populations in a volume-limited sample, we censused nearby stars for companions with Robo-AO. We report on observations of 1157 stars of all spectral types within 25 pc with decl. $>-13^{\circ}$ searching for tight companions. We detected 154 companion candidates with separations ranging from $\sim$0.15$''$ to 4.0$''$ and magnitude differences up to $Δ$m$_{\textit{i'}}\le$7 using the robotic adaptive optics instrument Robo-AO. We confirmed physical association from Gaia EDR3 astrometry for 53 of the companion can…

Galactic globular clusters (GCs) are now known to host multiple populations displaying particular abundance variations. The different populations within a GC can be well distinguished following their position in the pseudo two-colors diagrams, also referred to as "chromosome maps". These maps are constructed using optical and near-UV photometry available from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) UV survey of GCs. However, the chemical tagging of the various populations in the chromosome maps is hampered by the fact that HST photometry and elemental abundances are both available only for a limited …
We have compiled photometric data from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer All Sky Survey and other archival sources for the more than 2200 objects in the original McCook & Sion Catalog of Spectroscopically Identified White Dwarfs. We applied color-selection criteria to identify 28 targets whose infrared spectral energy distributions depart from the expectation for the white dwarf photosphere alone. Seven of these are previously known white dwarfs with circumstellar dust disks, five are known central stars of planetary nebulae, and six were excluded for being known binaries or having possi…
A number of studies based on data collected by the $\textit{Hubble Space Telescope}$ ($\textit{HST}$) GO-13297 program "HST Legacy Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters: Shedding UV Light on Their Populations and Formation" have investigated the photometric properties of a large sample of Galactic globular clusters and revolutionized our understanding of their stellar populations. In this paper, we expand previous studies by focusing our attention on the stellar clusters' internal kinematics. We computed proper motions for stars in 56 globular and one open clusters by combining the GO-13297 ima…
