For a Dirichlet series g, we study the Volterra operator Tg of symbol g, acting on a class of weighted Hilbert spaces of Dirichlet series. We obtain sufficient / necessary conditions for Tg to be bounded (resp. compact), involving BMO and Bloch type spaces on some half-plane. We also investigate the membership of Tg in Schatten classes. We also relate the boundedness of Tg to the boundedness of a multiplicative Hankel form of symbol g.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of $k^{th}$-order slant little Hankel operator on the Bergman space with essentially bounded harmonic symbols on the unit disc and obtain its algebraic and spectral properties. We have also discussed the conditions under which $k^{th}$-order slant little Hankel operators commute.
In this paper, we show that on the weighted Bergman space of the unit disk the essential norm of a noncompact Hankel operator equals its distance to the set of compact Hankel operators and is realized by infinitely many compact Hankel operators, which is analogous to the theorem of Axler, Berg, Jewell and Shields on the Hardy space in Axler et al. (1979); moreover, the distance is realized by infinitely many compact Hankel operators with symbols continuous on the closure of the unit disk and vanishing on the unit circle.
The properties of Volterra-composition operators on the weighted Bergman space with exponential type weights are investigated in this paper. We state some necessary and sufficient conditions that a Volterra-composition operator from the weighted Bergman space to Bloch type space ( or little Bloch type space ) must satisfy for the Volterra-composition operator to be bounded or compact.
We show that for $f$ a continuous function on the closed polydisc $\bar{\mathbb{D}^n}$ with $n\geq 2$, the Hankel operator $H_{f}$ is compact on the Bergman space of $\mathbb{D}^n$ if and only if there is a decomposition $f=h+g$, where $h$ is in the ball algebra and $g$ vanishes on the boundary of the polydisc.
Hankel operators with anti-holomorphic symbols are studied for a large class of weighted Fock spaces on $\cn$. The weights defining these Hilbert spaces are radial and subject to a mild smoothness condition. In addition, it is assumed that the weights decay at least as fast as the classical Gaussian weight. The main result of the paper says that a Hankel operator on such a Fock space is bounded if and only if the symbol belongs to a certain BMOA space, defined via the Berezin transform. The latter space coincides with a corresponding Bloch space which is defined by means of the Bergman metric.…
We find a concrete integral formula for the class of generalized Toeplitz operators $T_a$ in Bergman spaces $A^p$, $1<p<\infty$, studied in an earlier work by the authors. The result is extended to little Hankel operators. We give an example of an $L^2$-symbol $a$ such that $T_{|a|} $ fails to be bounded in $A^2$, although $T_a : A^2 \to A^2$ is seen to be bounded by using the generalized definition. We also confirm that the generalized definition coincides with the classical one whenever the latter makes sense.
We characterize the membership of Hankel operators with general symbols in the Schatten Classes $S^p,\, p\in(0,1),$ of the large Bergman spaces $A^2_ω$. The case $p\geq 1$ was proved by Lin and Rochberg.
We establish weak factorizations for a weighted Bergman space $A^p_{\a}$, with $1<p<\infty$, into two weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball of $\C^n$. To obtain this result, we characterize bounded Hankel forms on weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball of $\C^n$.
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^2$ be a bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domain with a smooth boundary. We study the behavior of analytic structure in the boundary of $Ω$ and obtain a compactness result for Hankel operators on the Bergman space of $Ω$.
We completely characterize the simultaneous membership in the Schatten ideals $S_ p$, $0<p<\infty$ of the Hankel operators $H_ f$ and $H_{\bar{f}}$ on the Bergman space, in terms of the behaviour of a local mean oscillation function, proving a conjecture of Kehe Zhu from 1991.
We study the boundedness and compactness of the generalized Volterra integral operator on weighted Bergman spaces with doubling weights on the unit disk. A generalized Toeplitz operator is defined and the boundedness, compactness and Schatten class of this operator are investigated on the Hilbert weighted Bergman space. As an application, Schatten class membership of generalized Volterra integral operators are also characterized. Finally, we also get the characterizations of Schatten class membership of generalized Toeplitz operator and generalized Volterra integral operators on the Hardy spac…
We consider sharp inequalities for Bergman spaces of the unit disc, establishing analogues of the inequality in Carleman's proof of the isoperimetric inequality and of Weissler's inequality for dilations. By contractivity and a standard tensorization procedure, the unit disc inequalities yield corresponding inequalities for the Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series. We use these results to study weighted multiplicative Hankel forms associated with the Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series, reproducing most of the known results on multiplicative Hankel forms associated with the Hardy spaces of Dirich…
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the class of radial weights on the unit disk which satisfy both forward and reverse doubling conditions. Let $g$ be an analytic function on the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$. We characterize bounded and compact Volterra type integration operators \[ J_{g}(f)(z)=\int_{0}^{z}f(λ)g'(λ)dλ\] between weighted Bergman spaces $L_{a}^{p}(ω)$ induced by $\mathcal{D}$ weights and Hardy spaces $H^{q}$ for $0<p,q<\infty$.
The boundedness of the small Hankel operator $h_f^ν(g)=P_ν(f\bar{g})$, induced by an analytic symbol $f$ and the Bergman projection $P_ν$ associated to $ν$, acting from the weighted Bergman space $A^p_\om$ to $A^q_ν$ is characterized on the full range $0<p,q<\infty$ when $ω,ν$ belong to the class $\mathcal{D}$ of radial weights admitting certain two-sided doubling conditions. Certain results obtained are equivalent to the boundedness of bilinear Hankel forms, which are in turn used to establish the weak factorization $A_η^{q}=A_ω^{p_{1}}\odot A_ν^{p_{2}}$, where $1<q,p_{1},p_{2}<\infty$ such t…
In this paper, we study the boundedness and the compactness of the little Hankel operators $h_b$ with operator-valued symbols $b$ between different weighted vector-valued Bergman spaces on the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}_n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n.$ More precisely, given two complex Banach spaces $X,Y,$ and $0 < p,q \leq 1,$ we characterize those operator-valued symbols $b: \mathbb{B}_{n}\rightarrow \mathcal{L}(\overline{X},Y)$ for which the little Hankel operator $h_{b}: A^p_α(\mathbb{B}_{n},X) \longrightarrow A^q_α(\mathbb{B}_{n},Y),$ is a bounded operator. Also, given two reflexive complex Banach s…
We completely characterize the boundedness of the Volterra type integration operators $J_b$ acting from the weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$ to the Hardy spaces $H^q$ of the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ for all $0<p,q<\infty$. A partial solution to the case $n=1$ was previously obtained by Z. Wu in \cite{Wu}. We solve the cases left open there and extend all the results to the setting of arbitrary complex dimension $n$. Our tools involve area methods from harmonic analysis, Carleson measures and Kahane-Khinchine type inequalities, factorization tricks for tent spaces of sequences, as well as tec…
We study big Hankel operators $H_f^ν:A^p_ω\to L^q_ν$ generated by radial Bekollé-Bonami weights $ν$, when $1<p\leq q<\infty$. Here the radial weight $ω$ is assumed to satisfy a two-sided doubling condition, and $A^p_ω$ denotes the corresponding weighted Bergman space. A characterization for simultaneous boundedness of $H_f^ν$ and $H_{\overline{f}}^ν$ is provided in terms of a general weighted mean oscillation. Compared to the case of standard weights that was recently obtained by Pau, Zhao and Zhu (Indiana Univ. Math. J. 2016), the respective spaces depend on the weights $ω$ and $ν$ in an esse…
Let $ϕ$ be an analytic self-map of the open unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ and $g$ analytic in $\mathbb{D}$. We characterize boundedness and compactness of generalized Volterra type integral operators $$GI_{(ϕ,g)}f(z)= \int_{0}^{z}f'(ϕ(ξ))\,g(ξ)\, dξ$$ and $$GV_{ (ϕ, g)}f(z)= \int_{0}^{z} f(ϕ(ξ))\,g(ξ)\, dξ, $$ acting between large Bergman spaces $A^p_ω$ and $A^q_ω$ for $0<p,q\le \infty$. To prove our characterizations, which involve Berezin type integral transforms, we use the Littlewood-Paley formula of Constantin and Peláez and establish corresponding embedding theorems, which are also of independe…
A characterisation is given of bounded embeddings from weighted $L^2$ spaces on bounded intervals into $L^2$ spaces on the half-plane, induced by isomorphisms given by the Laplace transform onto weighted Hardy and Bergman spaces (Zen spaces). As an application necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the boundedness of truncated Hankel and Toeplitz integral operators, including the weighted case.
We study small Hankel operators $h_b$ with operator-valued holomorphic symbol $b$ on a class of vector-valued Fock type spaces. We show that the boundedness / compactness of $h_b$ is equivalent to the membership of $b$ to a specific growth space, which is described via a Littlewood-Paley type condition and a Bergman type projection, and estimate the norm of $h_b$. We also establish some properties of duality and density for these Fock spaces.
We obtain a sharp norm estimate for Hankel operators with anti-analytic symbol for weighted Bergman spaces. For the classical Bergman space, the estimate improves the corresponding classical Putnam inequality for commutators of Toeplitz operators with analytic symbol by a factor of $1/2$, answering a recent conjecture by Bell, Ferguson and Lundberg. As an application, this yields a new proof of the de St. Venant inequality, which relates the torsional rigidity of a domain with its area.
In this paper, we study operator-theoretic properties (boundedness and compactness) of Hankel operators on the Fock-sobolev spaces $ \mathscr{F}^{p,m} $ in terms of $ \mathcal{BMO}_r^p $ and $ \mathcal{VMO}_r^p $ spaces, respectively, for a non-negative integers $ m $, $ 1 \leq p < \infty $ and $ r > 0 $. Along the way, we also study Berezin transform of Hankel operators on $ \mathscr{F}^{p,m} $. The results in this article are analogous to Zhu's characterization and Perälä's characterization of bounded and compact Hankel operators on the Bergman spaces of unit disc and the weighted Fock space…
In this paper, we study the behavior of the singular values of Hankel operators on weighted Bergman spaces $A^2_{ω_φ}$, where $ω_φ= e^{-φ}$ and $φ$ is a subharmonic function. We consider compact Hankel operators $H_{\overline ϕ}$, with anti-analytic symbols ${\overline ϕ}$, and give estimates of the trace of $h(|H_{\overline ϕ}|)$ for any convex function $h$. This allows us to give asymptotic estimates of the singular values $(s_n(H_{\overline ϕ}))_n$ in terms of decreasing rearrangement of $|ϕ'|/\sqrt{Δφ}$. For the radial weights, we first prove that the critical decay of $(s_n(H_{\overline ϕ…
We prove the following localization for compactness of Hankel operators on Bergman spaces. Assume that D is a bounded pseudoconvex domain in C^n, p is a boundary point of D and B(p,r) is a ball centered at p with radius r so that U=D\cap B(p,r) is connected. We show that if the Hankel operator H^D_f is compact on A^2(D) (the symbols f is C^1 on the closure of D) then H^U_f is compact on A^2(U) where A^2(D) and A^2(U) denote the Bergman spaces on D and U, respectively.
The boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operator from $A_ω^p$ to $A_ω^q$ with doubling weights $ω$ are studied in this paper. The characterizations of Schatten class Toeplitz operators and Volterra operators on $A_ω^2$ are also investigated.
Let D be a piecewise smooth bounded convex Reinhardt domain in C^2. Assume that the symbols f and g are continuous on the closure of D and harmonic on the disks in the boundary of D. We show that if the product of Hankel operators H^*_f H_g is compact on the Bergman space of D, then on any disk in the boundary of D, either f or g is holomorphic.
We compute the Dixmier trace of pseudo-Toeplitz operators on the Fock space. As an application we find a formula for the Dixmier trace of the product of commutators of Toeplitz operators on the Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball of \mathbb C^d. This generalizes an earlier work of Helton-Howe for the usual trace of the anti-symmetrization of Toeplitz operators.
We deal with a class of one-parameter family of integral transforms of Bargmann type arising as dual transforms of fractional Hankel transform. Their ranges are identified to be special subspaces of the weighted hyperholomorphic left Hilbert spaces, generalizing the slice Bergman space of the second kind. Their reproducing kernel is given by closed expression involving the $\star$-regularization of Gauss hypergeometric function. We also discuss their basic properties such as their boundedness and we determinate their singular values. Moreover, we describe their compactness and membership in $p…
We discuss the compactness of Hankel operators on Hardy, Bergman and Fock spaces with focus on the differences between the three cases, and complete the theory of compact Hankel operators with bounded symbols on the latter two spaces with standard weights. In particular, we give a new proof (using limit operator techniques) of the result that the Hankel operator $H_f$ is compact on Fock spaces if and only if $H_{\bar f}$ is compact. Our proof fully explains that this striking result is caused by the lack of nonconstant bounded analytic functions in the complex plane (unlike in the other two sp…
We characterize the boundedness of Hankel bilinear forms on a product of generalized Fock-Sobolev spaces on ${\mathbb C}^n$ with respect to the weight $(1+|z|)^ρe^{-\fracα2|z|^{2\ell}}$, for $\ell\ge 1$, $α>0$ and $ρ\in{\mathbb R}$. We obtain a weak decomposition of the Bergman kernel with estimates and a Littlewood-Paley formula, which are key ingredients in the proof of our main results. As an application, we characterize the boundedness, compactness and the membership in the Schatten class of small Hankel operators on these spaces.
We consider Fock spaces $F^{p,\ell}_α$ of entire functions on ${\mathbb C}$ associated to the weights $e^{-α|z|^{2\ell}}$, where $α>0$ and $\ell$ is a positive integer. We compute explicitly the corresponding Bergman kernel associated to $F^{2,\ell}_α$ and, using an adequate factorization of this kernel, we characterize the boundedness and the compactness of the small Hankel operator $\mathfrak{h}^{\ell}_{b,α}$ on $F^{p,\ell}_α$. Moreover, we also determine when $\mathfrak{h}^{\ell}_{b,α}$ is a Hilbert-Schmidt operator on $F^{2,\ell}_α$.
We prove a Weiss conjecture on $β$-admissibility of control and observation operators for discrete and continuous $γ$-hypercontractive semigroups of operators, by representing them in terms of shifts on weighted Bergman spaces and using a reproducing kernel thesis for Hankel operators. Particular attention is paid to the case $γ=2$, which corresponds to the unweighted Bergman shift.
Using Carleson measure theorem of weighted Bergman spaces, we provide a complete characterization of embedding theorem for Dirichlet type spaces. As an application, we study the Volterra integral operator and multipliers for Dirichlet type spaces.
This paper is devoted to the study of the weighted Bergman space $A_ω^p $ in the unit ball $\mathbb{B}$ of $\mathbb{C}^n$ with doubling weight $ω$ satisfying $$\int_r^1ω(t)dt <C \int_{\frac{1+r}{2}}^1ω(t)dt ,\,\, 0\leq r<1.$$ The $q-$Carleson measures for $A_ω^p$ are characterized in terms of a neat geometric condition involving Carleson block. Some equivalent characterizations for $A_ω^p$ are obtained by using the radial derivative and admissible approach regions. The boundedness and compactness of Volterra integral operator $T_g:A_ω^p\to A_ω^q$ are also investigated in this paper with $0<p\l…
This paper gives embedding theorems for a very general class of weighted Bergman spaces: the results include a number of classical Carleson embedding theorems as special cases. We also consider little Hankel operators on these Bergman spaces. Next, a study is made of Carleson embeddings in the right half-plane induced by taking the Laplace transform of functions defined on the positive half-line (these embeddings have applications in control theory): particular attention is given to the case of a sectorial measure or a measure supported on a strip, and complete necessary and sufficient conditi…
For weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk, we give trace formulas of semicommutators of Toeplitz operators with $\mathscr{C}^2(\overline{\mathbb{D}})$ symbols. We generalize this formula to weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball in higher dimensions. Applications and examples on the Hankel operators are also discussed.
For a Dirichlet series symbol $g(s) = \sum_{n \geq 1} b_n n^{-s}$, the associated Volterra operator $\mathbf{T}_g$ acting on a Dirichlet series $f(s)=\sum_{n\ge 1} a_n n^{-s}$ is defined by the integral $f\mapsto -\int_{s}^{+\infty} f(w)g'(w)\,dw$. We show that $\mathbf{T}_g$ is a bounded operator on the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^p$ of Dirichlet series with $0 < p < \infty$ if and only if the symbol $g$ satisfies a Carleson measure condition. When appropriately restricted to one complex variable, our condition coincides with the standard Carleson measure characterization of ${\operatorname{BMOA…
