In this article, $(X,\, \mathcal{A},\, μ)$ is a measure apace. A classical result establishes a Riesz isomorphism between $L^1(μ)^{\sim}$ and $L^{\infty}(μ)$ in case the measure $μ$ is $σ$-finite. In general, there still is a natural Riesz homomorphism $Φ: L^{\infty}(μ) \to L^1(μ)^{\sim},$ but it may not be injective or surjective. We prove that always the range of $Φ$ is an order dense Riesz subspace of $L^1(μ)^{\sim}$. If $μ$ is semi-finite, then $L^1(μ)^{\sim}$ is a Dedekind completion of $L^{\infty}(μ)$.
The duality principle states that a Gabor system is a frame if and only if the corresponding adjoint Gabor system is a Riesz sequence. In general Hilbert spaces and without the assumption of any particular structure, Casazza, Kutyniok and Lammers have introduced the so-called R-duals that also lead to a characterization of frames in terms of associated Riesz sequences; however, it is still an open question whether this abstract theory is a generalization of the duality principle. In this paper we prove that a modified version of the R-duals leads to a generalization of the duality principle th…
In this paper we investigate a new notion of bases in Hilbert spaces and similar to fusion frame theory we introduce fusion bases theory in Hilbert spaces. We also introduce a new definition of fusion dual sequence associated with a fusion basis and show that the operators of a fusion dual sequence are continuous projections. Next we define the fusion biorthogonal sequence, Bessel fusion basis, Hilbert fusion basis and obtain some characterizations of them. we study orthonormal fusion systems and Riesz fusion bases for Hilbert spaces. we consider the stability of fusion bases under small pertu…
Let $E$ be a Banach lattice. Its ideal center $Z(E)$ is embedded naturally in the ideal center $Z(E')$ of its dual. The embedding may be extended to a contractive algebra and lattice homomorphism of $Z(E)"$ into $Z(E')$. We show that the extension is onto $Z(E')$ if and only if $E$ has a topologically full center. (That is, for each $x\in E$, the closure of $Z(E)x$ is the closed ideal generated by $x$.) The result can be generalized to the ideal center of the order dual of an Archimedean Riesz space and in a modified form to the orthomorphisms on the order dual of an Archimedean Riesz space.
We collect several foundational results regarding the interaction between locally compact spaces, probability spaces and probability algebras, and commutative $C^*$-algebras and von Neumann algebras equipped with traces, in the "uncountable" setting in which no separability, metrizability, or standard Borel hypotheses are placed on these spaces and algebras. In particular, we review the Gelfand dualities and Riesz representation theorems available in this setting. We also present a canonical model that represents probability algebras as compact Hausdorff probability spaces in a completely func…
We develop and use some key concepts of potential theory, such as balayage and duality between measures and their potentials, to study the distribution of masses of subharmonic functions while restrictions to their growth near the boundary of their domain of definition. They are formulated and proved in terms of the Riesz measure for a subharmonic function. In this article, applications to holomorphic functions concern the distribution of their zero sets under restrictions to growth of this functions. Auxiliary results of our article may also be of independent interest. This is, first of all, …
In this paper, we characterize the system of left translates $\{L_{(2k,l,m)}g:k,l,m\in\mathbb{Z}\}$, $g\in L^2(\mathbb{H})$, to be a frame sequence or a \emph{Riesz} sequence in terms of the twisted translates of the corresponding function $g^λ$. Here, $(\mathbb{H}$ denotes the Heisenberg group and $g^λ$ the inverse Fourier transform of $g$ with respect to the central variable. This type of characterization for a \emph{Riesz} sequence allows us to find some concrete examples. We also study the structure of the oblique dual of the system of left translates $\{L_{(2k,l,m)}g:k,l,m\in\mathbb{Z}\}$…
Let $E$ be a Riesz space and let $E^{\sim}$ denote its order dual. The orthomorphisms $Orth(E)$ on $E,$ and the ideal center $Z(E)$ of $E,$ are naturally embedded in $Orth(E^{\sim})$ and $Z(E^{\sim})$ respectively. We construct two unital algebra and order continuous Riesz homomorphisms \[ γ:((Orth(E))^{\sim})_{n}^{\sim}\rightarrow Orth(E^{\sim})\text{ }% \] and \[ m:Z(E)^{\prime\prime}\rightarrow Z(E^{\sim}) \] that extend the above mentioned natural inclusions respectively. Then, the range of $γ$ is an order ideal in $Orth(E^{\sim})$ if and only if $m$ is surjective. Furthermore, $m$ is surj…
We prove that the norm of the Riesz projection from $L^\infty(\Bbb{T}^n)$ to $L^p(\Bbb{T}^n)$ is $1$ for all $n\ge 1$ only if $p\le 2$, thus solving a problem posed by Marzo and Seip in 2011. This shows that $H^p(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ does not contain the dual space of $H^1(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ for any $p>2$. We then note that the dual of $H^1(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ contains, via the Bohr lift, the space of Dirichlet series in $\operatorname{BMOA}$ of the right half-plane. We give several conditions showing how this $\operatorname{BMOA}$ space relates to other spaces of Dirichlet series. Finally, relat…
The conditions for sequences $\{f_{k}\}_{k=1}^{\infty}$ and $\{g_{k}\}_{k=1}^{\infty}$ being Bessel sequences, frames or Riesz bases, can be expressed in terms of the so-called cross-Gram matrix. In this paper we investigate the cross-Gram operator, $G$, associated to the sequence $\{\langle f_{k}, g_{j}\rangle\}_{j, k=1}^{\infty}$ and sufficient and necessary conditions for boundedness, invertibility, compactness and positivity of this operator are determined depending on the associated sequences. We show that invertibility of $G$ is not possible when the associated sequences are frames but n…
In this paper Gabor system of certain type based on the unitary dual of the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$ is introduced and a sufficient condition is obtained for the Gabor system to be a Bessel sequence for $L^2(\mathbb{R}^*,\mathcal{B}_2;dκ)$ using the $Schrödinger$ representation of $\mathbb{H}^n$, where $\mathcal{B}_2$ denotes the class of Hilbert-Schmidt operators on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $dκ$ denotes the Haar measure on $\mathbb{R}^*$. Further a necessary and sufficient condition is provided for the Gabor system to be an orthonormal system, a Parseval frame sequence, a frame sequence…
Let $D\in\mathbb{N}$, $q\in[2,\infty)$ and $(\mathbb{R}^D,|\cdot|,dx)$ be the Euclidean space equipped with the $D$-dimensional Lebesgue measure. In this article, via an auxiliary function space $\mathrm{WE}^{1,\,q}(\mathbb R^D)$ defined via wavelet expansions, the authors establish the Riesz transform characterization of Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $\dot{F}^0_{1,\,q}(\mathbb{R}^D)$. As a consequence, the authors obtain the Fefferman-Stein decomposition of Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $\dot{F}^0_{\infty,\,q'}(\mathbb{R}^D)$. Finally, the authors give an explicit example to show that $\dot{F}^0_{1,\,q}(…

This tutorial gives an overview of some of the basic techniques of measure theory. It includes a study of Borel sets and their generators for Polish and for analytic spaces, the weak topology on the space of all finite positive measures including its metrics, as well as measurable selections. Integration is covered, and product measures are introduced, both for finite and for arbitrary factors, with an application to projective systems. Finally, the duals of the Lp-spaces are discussed, together with the Radon-Nikodym Theorem and the Riesz Representation Theorem. Case studies include applicati…
The classical Truncated Moment problem asks for necessary and sufficient conditions so that a linear functional $L$ on $\mathcal{P}_{d}$, the vector space of real $n$-variable polynomials of degree at most $d$, can be written as integration with respect to a positive Borel measure $μ$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$. We work in a more general setting, where $L$ is a linear functional acting on a finite dimensional vector space $V$ of Borel-measurable functions defined on a $T_{1}$ topological space $S$. Using an iterative geometric construction, we associate to $L$ a subset of $S$ called the \textit{core va…
This paper provides a new approach to proving generalizations of the F.&M. Riesz Theorem, for example, the result of Helson and Lowdenslager, the result of Forelli (and de Leeuw and Glicksberg), and more recent results of Yamagushi. We study actions of a locally compact abelian group with ordered dual onto a space of measures, and consider those measures that are analytic, that is, the spectrum of the action on the measure is contained within the positive elements of the dual of the group. The classical results tell us that the singular and absolutely continuous parts of the measure (with resp…
For a second countable locally compact group $G$ and a closed abelian subgroup $H$, we give a range function classification of closed subspaces in $L^2(G)$ invariant under left translation by $H$. For a family $\mathscr{A} \subset L^2(G)$, this classification ties with a set of conditions under which the translations of $\mathscr{A}$ by $H$ form a continuous frame or a Riesz sequence. When $G$ is abelian, our work relies on a fiberization map; for the more general case, we introduce an analogue of the Zak transform. Both transformations intertwine translation with modulation, and both rely on …
Let ${\mathcal X}$ be a metric space with doubling measure, $L$ a nonnegative self-adjoint operator in $L^2({\mathcal X})$ satisfying the Davies-Gaffney estimate, $ω$ a concave function on $(0,\infty)$ of strictly lower type $p_ω\in (0, 1]$ and $ρ(t)={t^{-1}}/ω^{-1}(t^{-1})$ for all $t\in (0,\infty).$ The authors introduce the Orlicz-Hardy space $H_{ω,L}({\mathcal X})$ via the Lusin area function associated to the heat semigroup, and the BMO-type space ${\mathop\mathrm{BMO}_{ρ,L}(\mathcal X)}$. The authors then establish the duality between $H_{ω,L}({\mathcal X})$ and $\mathrm{BMO}_{ρ,L}({\mat…
