In the article we study mappings of Carnot groups satisfy moduli inequalities. We prove that homeomorphisms satisfy the moduli inequalities ($Q$-homeomor\-phisms) with a locally integrable function $Q$ are Sobolev mappings. On this base in the frameworks of the weak inverse mapping theorem we prove that mappings inverse to Sobolev homeomorphisms of finite distortion of the class $W^1_{ν,\text{loc}}(Ω;Ω')$ belong to the Sobolev class $W^1_{1,\text{loc}}(Ω';Ω)$.
A Stein-Weiss type inequality on Carnot groups is established by proving the boundedness of an integral operator and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequality on Carnot groups is also derived.
The notion of horizontal energy minimizers between C-C spaces is introduced. We prove existence of such energy minimizers when the domain is a $C^{2}$, noncharacteristic bounded open set in a C-C space and the target is a C-C space of Carnot type.
We consider various types of Hardy-Sobolev inequalities on a Carnot-Carathéodory space $(\Om, d)$ associated to a system of smooth vector fields $X=\{X_1, X_2,...,X_m\}$ on $\RR^n$ satisfying the Hörmander's finite rank condition $rank Lie[X_1,...,X_m] \equiv n$. One of our main concerns is the trace inequality \int_{\Om}|ϕ(x)|^{p}V(x)dx\leq C\int_{\Om}|Xϕ|^{p}dx,\qquad ϕ\in C^{\infty}_{0}(\Om), where $V$ is a general weight, i.e., a nonnegative locally integrable function on $\Om$, and $1<p<+\infty$. Under sharp geometric assumptions on the domain $\Om\subset \Rn$ that can be measured equival…
The notions of higher-order weighted multilinear Poincaré and Sobolev inequalities in Carnot groups are introduced. As an application, weighted Leibnitz-type rules in Campanato-Morrey spaces are established.
In this article we define a class of fractional Orlicz-Sobolev spaces on Carnot groups and, in the spirit of the celebrated results of Bourgain-Brezis-Mironescu and of Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova, we study the asymptotic behavior of the Orlicz functionals when the fractional parameter goes to $1$ and $0$.
In this paper we will establish different weighted Poincaré inequalities with variable exponents on Carnot-Carathéodory spaces or Carnot groups. We will use different techniques to obtain these inequalities. For vector fields satisfying Hörmander's condition in variable non-isotropic Sobolev spaces, we consider a weight in the variable Muckenhoupt class $% A_{p(\cdot ),p^{\ast }(\cdot )}$, where the exponent $p(\cdot )$ satisfies appropriate hypotheses, and in this case we obtain the first order weighted Poincaré inequalities with variable exponents. In the case of Carnot groups we also set up…
In sub-Riemannian geometry there exist, in general, no known explicit representations of the heat kernels, and these functions fail to have any symmetry whatsoever. In particular, they are not a function of the control distance, nor they are for instance spherically symmetric in any of the layers of the Lie algebra. Despite these unfavourable aspects, in this paper we establish a new heat semigroup characterisation of the Sobolev and $BV$ spaces in a Carnot group by means of an integral decoupling property of the heat kernel.
In this paper we extend the notion of rearrangement of nonnegative functions to the setting of Carnot groups. We define rearrangement with respect to a given family of anisotropic balls B_r or equivalently with respect to a gauge |x|, and prove basic regularity properties of this construction. If u is a bounded nonnegative real function with compact support, we denote by u* its rearrangement. Then, the radial function u*. is of bounded variation. In addition, if u is continuous then u* is continuous, and if U belongs to the horizontal Sobolev space, we found a generalization of the inequality …
We provide a new characterization of homogeneous Besov and Sobolev spaces in Carnot groups using the fractional heat kernel and Poisson kernel. We apply our results to study commutators involving fractional powers of the sub-Laplacian.
In this paper we study connections between composition operators on Sobolev spaces and mappings defined by $p$-moduli inequalities ($p$-capacity inequalities). We prove that weighted moduli inequalities lead to composition operators on corresponding Sobolev spaces and inverse, composition operators on Sobolev spaces imply weighted moduli inequalities.
We study strongly harmonic functions in Carnot-Carathéodory groups defined via the mean value property with respect to the Lebesgue measure. For such functions we show their Sobolev regularity and smoothness. Moreover, we prove that strongly harmonic functions satisfy the sub-Laplace equation for the appropriate gauge norm and that the inclusion is sharp. We observe that spherical harmonic polynomials in $\mathbb{H}_1$ are both strongly harmonic and satisfy the sub-Laplace equation. Our presentation is illustrated by examples.
In this paper we shall study smooth submanifolds immersed in a k-step Carnot group G of homogeneous dimension Q. Among other results, we shall prove an isoperimetric inequality for the case of a $C^2$-smooth compact hypersurface S with - or without - boundary $\partial S$; S and $\partial S$ are endowed with their homogeneous measures, actually equivalent to the intrinsic (Q-1)-dimensional and (Q-2)-dimensional Hausdorff measures with respect to some homogeneous metric $\varrho$ on G; see Section 5. This generalizes a classical inequality, involving the mean curvature of the hypersurface, prov…

In the setting of a Lie group of polynomial volume growth, we derive inequalities of Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type, where the weights involved are powers of the Carnot-Caratheodory distance associated with a fixed system of vector fields which satisfy the Hörmander condition. The use of weak $L^p$ spaces is crucial in our proofs and we formulate these inequalities within the framework of $L^{p,q}$ Lorentz spaces (a scale of (quasi)-Banach spaces which extend the more classical $L^p$ Lebesgue spaces) thereby obtaining a refinement of, for instance, Sobolev and Hardy-Sobolev inequalities.
We study inequalities related to the heat kernel for the hypoelliptic sublaplacian on an H-type Lie group. Specifically, we obtain precise pointwise upper and lower bounds on the heat kernel function itself. We then apply these bounds to derive an estimate on the gradient of solutions of the heat equation, which is known to have various significant consequences including logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. We also present a computation of the heat kernel, and a discussion of the geometry of H-type groups including their geodesics and Carnot-Carathéodory distance functions.
