Let $V$ be a vertex operator algebra and $g=\left(1\ 2\ \cdots k\right)$ be a $k$-cycle which is viewed as an automorphism of the vertex operator algebra $V^{\otimes k}$. It is proved that Dong-Li-Mason's associated associative algebra $A_{g}\left(V^{\otimes k}\right)$ is isomorphic to Zhu's algebra $A\left(V\right)$ explicitly. This result recovers a previous result that there is a one-to-one correspondence between irreducible $g$-twisted $V^{\otimes k}$-modules and irreducible $V$-modules.
Irreducible modules of the 3-permutation orbifold of a rank one lattice vertex operator algebra are listed explicitly. Fusion rules are determined by using the quantum dimensions. The $S$-matrix is also given.
In this article, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for the $C_2$-cofiniteness of the 2-cycle permutation orbifold model $(V\otimes V)^σ$ for a $C_2$-cofinite vertex operator algebra and the 2-cycle permutation $σ$ of $V\otimes V$. As an application, we show that the 2-cycle permutation orbifold model of the simple Virasoro vertex operator algebra $L(c,0)$ of minimal central charge $c$ is $C_2$-cofinite.
In this article, we consider permutation orbifold models of $C_2$-cofinite vertex operator algebras of CFT type. We show the $C_2$-cofiniteness of the 2-cyclic permutation orbifold model $(V\otimes V)^{S_2}$ for an arbitrary $C_2$-cofinite simple vertex operator algebra $V$ of CFT type. We also give a proof of the $C_2$-cofiniteness of a $\Z_2$-orbifold model $V_L^+$ of the lattice vertex operator algebra $V_L$ associated with a rank one positive definite even lattice $L$ by using our result and the $C_2$-cofiniteness of $V_L$.
Let $V$ be a vertex operator algebra, $k$ a positive integer and $σ$ a permutation automorphism of the vertex operator algebra $V^{\otimes k}$. In this paper, we determine the fusion product of any $V^{\otimes k}$-module with any $σ$-twisted $V^{\otimes k}$-module.
We study the commutant of the vertex operator algebra $\mathcal{L}_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2}(4,0)$ in the cyclic permutation orbifold model $(\mathcal{L}_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2}(1,0)^{\otimes 4})^τ$ with $τ=(1\,2\,3\,4)$. It is shown that the commutant is isomorphic to a ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-orbifold model of a tensor product of two lattice type vertex operator algebras of rank one.
For a fixed positive integer $k$, any element $g$ of the permutation group $S_{k}$ acts on the tensor product vertex operator algebra $V^{\otimes k}$ in the obvious way. In this paper, we determine the $S$-matrix of $\left(V^{\otimes k}\right)^{G}$ if $G=\left\langle g\right\rangle $ is the cyclic group generated by $g=\left(1,\ 2,\cdots,k\right).$
We consider the application of permutation orbifold constructions towards a new possible understanding of the genus zero property in Monstrous and Generalized Moonshine. We describe a theory of twisted Hecke operators in this setting and conjecture on the form of Generalized Moonshine replication formulas.
We study permutation orbifolds of the $2$-fold and $3$-fold tensor product for the Virasoro vertex algebra $\mathcal{V}_c$ of central charge $c$. In particular, we show that for all but finitely many central charges $\left(\mathcal{V}_c^{\otimes 3}\right)^{\mathbb{Z}_3}$ is a $W$-algebra of type $(2, 4, 5, 6^3 , 7, 8^3 , 9^3 , 10^2 )$. We also study orbifolds of their simple quotients and obtain new realizations of certain rational affine $W$-algebras associated to a principal nilpotent element. Further analysis of permutation orbifolds of the celebrated $(2,5)$-minimal vertex algebra $\mathca…
Using a result of Longo and Xu, we show that the anomaly arising from a cyclic permutation orbifold of order 3 of a holomorphic conformal net $\mathcal A$ with central charge $c=8k$ depends on the "gravitational anomaly" $k\pmod 3$. In particular, the conjecture that holomorphic permutation orbifolds are non-anomalous and therefore a stronger conjecture of Müger about braided crossed $S_n$-categories arising from permutation orbifolds of completely rational conformal nets are wrong. More general, we show that cyclic permutations of order $n$ are non-anomalous if and only if $3\nmid n$ or $24|c…
We study the $S_3$-orbifold of a rank three Heisenberg vertex algebras in terms of generators and relations. By using invariant theory we prove that the orbifold algebra has a minimal strongly generating set of vectors whose conformal weights are $1,2,3,4,5,6^2$ (two generators of degree $6$). The structure of the cyclic $\mathbb{Z}_3$-oribifold is determined by similar methods. We also study modular properties of characters of modules for these vertex algebras.
We consider properties of solitons in general orbifolds in the algebraic quantum field theory framework and constructions of solitons in affine and permutation orbifolds. Under general conditions we show that our construction gives all the twisted representations of the fixed point subnet. This allows us to prove a number of conjectures: in the affine orbifold case we clarify the issue of ``fixed point resolutions''; in the permutation orbifold case we determine all irreducible representations of the orbifold, and we also determine the fusion rules in a nontrivial case, which imply an integral…
The restricted $S$-matrix of $V^G$ is determined for any regular vertex operator algebra $V$ and finite automorphism group $G$ of $V.$ As an application, the $S$-matrices for cyclic permutation orbifolds of prime orders are computed.
The irreducible modules of the 2-cycle permutation orbifold models of lattice vertex operator algebras of rank 1 are classified, the quantum dimensions of irreducible modules and the fusion rules are determined.
We investigate the large $N$ limit of permutation orbifolds of vertex operator algebras. To this end, we introduce the notion of nested oligomorphic permutation orbifolds and discuss under which conditions their fixed point VOAs converge. We show that if this limit exists, then it has the structure of a vertex algebra. Finally, we give an example based on $\mathrm{GL}(N,q)$ for which the fixed point VOA limit is also the limit of the full permutation orbifold VOA.
We prove the first nontrivial reconstruction theorem for modular tensor categories: the category associated to any twisted Drinfeld double of any finite group, can be realised as the representation category of a completely rational conformal net. We also show that any twisted double of a solvable group is the category of modules of a completely rational vertex operator algebra. In the process of doing this, we identify the 3-cocycle twist for permutation orbifolds of holomorphic conformal nets: unexpectedly, it can be nontrivial, and depends on the value of the central charge modulo 24. In add…
The orbifold construction $A\mapsto A^G$ for a finite group $G$ is fundamental in rational conformal field theory. The construction of $Rep(A^G)$ from $Rep(A)$ on the categorical level, often called gauging, is also prominent in the study of topological phases of matter. Given a non-degenerate braided fusion category $\mathcal{C}$ with a $G$-action, the key step in this construction is to find a braided $G$-crossed extension compatible with the action. The extension theory of Etingof-Nikshych-Ostrik gives two obstructions for this problem, $o_3\in H^3(G)$ and $o_4\in H^4(G)$ for certain coeffi…
In this paper, a continuation of \cite{MPS}, we investigate the $S_3$-orbifold subalgebra of $(\mathcal{V}_c)^{\otimes 3}$, that is, we consider the $S_3$-fixed point vertex subalgebra of the tensor product of three copies of the universal Virasoro vertex operator algebras $\mathcal{V}_c$. Our main result is construction of a minimal, strong set of generators of this subalgebra for any generic values of $c$. More precisely, we show that this vertex algebra is of type $(2,4,6^2,8^2,9,10^2,11,12^3)$. We also investigate two prominent examples of simple $S_3$-orbifold algebras corresponding to ce…
The fusion rules of the 2-permutation orbifold of an arbitrary lattice vertex operator algebra are determined by using the theory of quantum dimension.
Recently the operator algebra and twisted vertex operator equations were given for each sector of all WZW orbifolds, and a set of twisted KZ equations for the WZW permutation orbifolds were worked out as a large example. In this companion paper we report two further large examples of this development. In the first example we solve the twisted vertex operator equations in an abelian limit to obtain the twisted vertex operators and correlators of a large class of abelian orbifolds. In the second example, the twisted vertex operator equations are applied to obtain a set of twisted KZ equations fo…
In "Hopf algebra of the planar binary trees", Adv. Math. 139 (1998), no. 2, 293--309, we constructed by induction a graded associative product on the vector space generated by the planar binary trees (resp. the permutations). In the present paper we prove an explicit formula for this product in terms of a partial order on the set of planar binary trees (resp. the weak Bruhat order on the symmetric groups).
We obtain the operator algebra of each twisted sector of all WZW orbifolds, including the general twisted current algebra and the algebra of the twisted currents with the twisted affine primary fields. Surprisingly, the twisted right and left mover current algebras are not a priori copies of each other. Using the operator algebra we also derive world-sheet differential equations for the twisted affine primary fields of all WZW orbifolds. Finally we include ground state properties to obtain the twisted Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations of the WZW permutation orbifolds and the inner-automorphic W…
Let $V$ be a simple vertex algebra of countable dimension, $G$ be a finite automorphism group of $V$ and $σ$ be a central element of $G$. Assume that ${\cal S}$ is a finite set of inequivalent irreducible $σ$-twisted $V$-modules such that ${\cal S}$ is invariant under the action of $G$. Then there is a finite dimensional semisimple associative algebra ${\cal A}_α(G,{\cal S})$ for a suitable $2$-cocycle $α$ naturally determined by the $G$-action on ${\cal S}$ such that $({\cal A}_α(G,{\cal S}),V^G)$ form a dual pair on the sum $\cal M$ of $σ$-twisted $V$-modules in ${\cal S}$ in the sense that …
Let V be a vertex operator algebra and G a finite automorphism group of V. For each g\in G and nonnegative rational number n\in {\mathbb Z}/|g|, a g-twisted Zhu algebra A_{g,n}(V) plays an important role in the theory of vertex operator algebras, but the given product in A_{g,n}(V) depends on the eigenspaces of g. We show that there is a uniform definition of products on V and we introduce a G-twisted Zhu algebra A_{G,n}(V) which covers all g-twisted Zhu algebras. Assume that V is simple and let {\cal S} be a finite set of inequivalent irreducible twisted V-modules which is closed under the ac…
The associative operad is a certain algebraic structure on the sequence of group algebras of the symmetric groups. The weak order is a partial order on the symmetric group. There is a natural linear basis of each symmetric group algebra, related to the group basis by Mobius inversion for the weak order. We describe the operad structure on this second basis: the surprising result is that each operadic composition is a sum over an interval of the weak order. We deduce that the coradical filtration is an operad filtration. The Lie operad, a suboperad of the associative operad, sits in the first c…
We compute the Hochschild homology of the crossed product $\Bbb C[S_n]\ltimes A^{\otimes n}$ in terms of the Hochschild homology of the associative algebra $A$ (over $\Bbb C$). It allows us to compute the Hochschild (co)homology of $\Bbb C[W]\ltimes A^{\otimes n}$ where $A$ is the $q$-Weyl algebra or any its degeneration and $W$ is the Weyl group of type $A_{n-1}$ or $B_n$. For a deformation quantization $A_+$ of an affine symplectic variety $X$ we show that the Hochschild homology of $S^n A$, $A=A_+[\hbar^{-1}]$ is additively isomorphic to the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of $S^nX$ with coef…
We introduce the notion of quadri-algebras. These are associative algebras for which the multiplication can be decomposed as the sum of four operations in a certain coherent manner. We present several examples of quadri-algebras: the algebra of permutations, the shuffle algebra, tensor products of dendriform algebras. We show that a pair of commuting Baxter operators on an associative algebra gives rise to a canonical quadri-algebra structure on the underlying space of the algebra. The main example is provided by the algebra End(A) of linear endomorphisms of an infinitesimal bialgebra A. This …
Every isometry s of a positive-definite even lattice Q can be lifted to an automorphism of the lattice vertex algebra V_Q. An important problem in vertex algebra theory and conformal field theory is to classify the representations of the s-invariant subalgebra V_Q^s of V_Q, known as an orbifold. In the case when s is an isometry of Q of order two, we have classified the irreducible modules of the orbifold vertex algebra V_Q^s and identified them as submodules of twisted or untwisted V_Q-modules in [Bavalov-Elsinger]. Here we calculate their quantum dimensions and fusion products. The examples …
A two-dimensional chiral conformal field theory can be viewed mathematically as the representation theory of its chiral algebra, a vertex operator algebra. Vertex operator algebras are especially well suited for studying logarithmic conformal field theory (in which correlation functions have logarithmic singularities arising from non-semisimple modules for the chiral algebra) because of the logarithmic tensor category theory of Huang, Lepowsky, and Zhang. In this paper, we study not-necessarily-semisimple or rigid braided tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ of modules for the fixed-point vertex op…
