We introduce the notion of quadri-algebras. These are associative algebras for which the multiplication can be decomposed as the sum of four operations in a certain coherent manner. We present several examples of quadri-algebras: the algebra of permutations, the shuffle algebra, tensor products of dendriform algebras. We show that a pair of commuting Baxter operators on an associative algebra gives rise to a canonical quadri-algebra structure on the underlying space of the algebra. The main example is provided by the algebra End(A) of linear endomorphisms of an infinitesimal bialgebra A. This algebra carries a canonical pair of commuting Baxter operators: $β(T)=T\ast\id$ and $γ(T)=\id\ast T$, where $\ast$ denotes the convolution of endomorphisms. It follows that End(A) is a quadri-algebra, whenever A is an infinitesimal bialgebra. We also discuss commutative quadri-algebras and state some conjectures on the free quadri-algebra.
We introduce the notion of a quadri-bialgebra, which gives a bialgebra theory for the quadri-algebra introduced by Aguiar and Loday. We show that a quadri-bialgebra is equivalent to a Manin triple of dendriform algebras associated to a nondegenerate 2-cocycle, and to a Manin triple of quadri-algebras associated to a nondegenerate invariant bilinear form. Quadri-bialgebras also come from a variation of the classical Yang-Baxter equation, called the $Q$-equations. Moreover, quadri-bialgebras fit into the framework of construction of Rota-Baxter operators and Nijenhuis operators on the double spa…
Quadri-algebras introduced by Aguiar and Loday are a class of remarkable Loday algebras. In this paper, we introduce a notion of L-quadri-algebra with 4 operations satisfying certain generalized left-symmetry, as a Lie algebraic analogue of quadri-algebra such that the commutator of the sum of the 4 operations is a Lie algebra. Any quadri-algebra is an L-quadri-algebra. Moreover, L-quadri-algebras fit into the framework of the relationships between Loday algebras and their Lie algebraic analogues, extending the well known fact that the commutator of an associative algebra is a Lie algebra. We …
The notion of a modified Rota-Baxter algebra comes from the combination of those of a Rota-Baxter algebra and a modified Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we first construct free modified Rota-Baxter algebras. We then equip a free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a bialgebra structure by a cocycle construction. Under the assumption that the generating algebra is a connected bialgebra, we further equip the free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.
In this paper, we obtain a canonical factorization of basis elements in free Rota-Baxter algebras built on bracketed words. This canonical factorization is applied to give a coalgebra structure on the free Rota-Baxter algebras. Together with the Rota-Baxter algebra multiplication, this coproduct gives a bialgebra structure on the free Rota-Baxter algebra of rooted forests. When the weight of the Rota-Baxter algebra is zero, we further obtain a Hopf algebra structure.
The purpose of this paper is to study Rota-Baxter operators for BiHom-associative algebras. Moreover, we introduce and discuss the properties of the notions of BiHom-(tri)dendriform algebra, BiHom-Zinbiel algebra and BiHom-quadri-algebra. We construct the free Rota-Baxter BiHom-associative algebra and present some observations about categories and functors related to Rota-Baxter structures.
For any algebra two families of coloured Yang-Baxter operators are constructed, thus producing solutions to the two-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation. An open problem about a system of functional equations is stated. The matrix forms of these operators for two and three dimensional algebras are computed. A FRT bialgebra for one of these families is presented. Solutions for the one-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation are derived and a Yang-Baxter system constructed.
Rota-Baxter associative algebras and Rota-Baxter Lie algebras are both important in mathematics and mathematical physics, with the former a basic structure in quantum field renormalization and the latter a operator form of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. An outstanding problem posed by Gubarev is to determine whether there is a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem for the universal enveloping Rota-Baxter associative algebra of a Rota-Baxter Lie algebra. This paper resolves this problem positively, working with operated algebras and applying the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases.
Rota-Baxter operators and bialgebras go hand in hand in their applications, such as in the Connes-Kreimer approach to renormalization and the operator approach to the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We establish a bialgebra structure that is compatible with the Rota-Baxter operator, called the Rota-Baxter antisymmetric infinitesimal (ASI) bialgebra. This bialgebra is characterized by generalizations of matched pairs of algebras and double constructions of Frobenius algebras to the context of Rota-Baxter algebras. The study of the coboundary case leads to an enrichment of the associative Yang-B…
In this letter, we use quantum quasi-shuffle algebras to construct Rota-Baxter algebras, as well as tridendriform algebras. We also propose the notion of braided Rota-Baxter algebras, which is the relevant object of Rota-Baxter algebras in a braided tensor category. Examples of such new algebras are provided by using quantum multi-brace algebras in a category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules.
We propose the notion of Hopf module algebras and show that the projection onto the subspace of coinvariants is an idempotent Rota-Baxter operator of weight -1. We also provide a construction of Hopf module algebras by using Yetter-Drinfeld module algebras. As an application, we prove that the positive part of a quantum group admits idempotent Rota-Baxter algebra structures.
We give a broad study of representation and module theory of Rota-Baxter algebras. Regular-singular decompositions of Rota-Baxter algebras and Rota-Baxter modules are obtained under the condition of quasi-idempotency. Representations of an Rota-Baxter algebra are shown to be equivalent to the representations of the ring of Rota-Baxter operators whose categorical properties are obtained and explicit constructions are provided. Representations from coalgebras are investigated and their algebraic Birkhoff factorization is given. Representations of Rota-Baxter algebras in the tensor category conte…
Recent advances in stochastic PDEs, Hopf algebras of typed trees and integral equations have inspired the study of algebraic structures with replicating operations. To understand their algebraic and combinatorial nature, we first use rooted forests with multiple decoration sets to construct free Hopf algebras with multiple Hochschild 1-cocycle conditions. Applying the universal property of the underlying operated algebras and the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases, we then construct free objects in the category of matching Rota-Baxter algebras which is a generalization of Rota-Baxter algebras to…
The study of free Baxter algebras was started by Rota and Cartier thirty years ago. We continue this study by applying two recent constructions of free Baxter algebras. We investigate the basic structure of a free Baxter algebra, and characterize in detail when a free Baxter algebra is a domain or a reduced algebra. We also describe the nilpotent radical of a free Baxter algebra when it is not reduced.
Family algebraic structures indexed by a semigroup first appeared in the algebraic aspects of renormalizations in quantum field theory. The concept of the Rota-Baxter family and its relation with (tri)dendriform family algebras have been recently discovered. In this paper, we first consider a notion of $\mathcal{O}$-operator family as a generalization of the Rota-Baxter family and define two variations of associative Yang-Baxter family that produce $\mathcal{O}$-operator families. Given a Hochschild $2$-cocycle on the underlying algebra, we also define a notion of twisted $\mathcal{O}$-operato…
In this paper, we introduce the concept of a Rota-Baxter paired module to study Rota-Baxter modules without necessarily a Rota-Baxter operator. We obtain two characterizations of Rota-Baxter paired modules, and give some basic properties of Rota-Baxter paired modules. Beginning with the connection between the notion of integrals in the representations of Hopf algebra and of the notion of an integral algebra as a motivation and special case of Rota-Baxter algebra of weight zero, we obtain a large number of Rota-Baxter paired modules from Hopf related algebras and modules, including semisimple H…
Yang-Baxter operators from algebra structures appeared for the first time in [16], [17] and [8]. Later, Yang-Baxter systems from entwining structures were constructed in [5]. In this paper we show that an algebra factorisation can be constructed from a Yang-Baxter system.
We continue the study of free Baxter algebras. There are two goals of this paper. The first goal is to extend the construction of shuffle Baxter algebras to completions of Baxter algebras. This process is motivated by a construction of Cartier and is analogous to the process of completing a polynomial algebra to obtain a power series algebra. However, as we will see later, unlike the close similarity of properties of a polynomial algebra and a power series algebra, properties of a shuffle Baxter algebra and its completion can be quite different.
Rota-Baxter algebras and the closely related dendriform algebras have important physics applications, especially to renormalization of quantum field theory. Braided structures provide effective ways of quantization such as for quantum groups. Continuing recent study relating the two structures, this paper considers Rota-Baxter algebras and dendriform algebras in the braided contexts. Applying the quantum shuffle and quantum quasi-shuffle products, we construct free objects in the categories of braided Rota-Baxter algebras and braided dendriform algebras, under the commutativity condition. We f…
We determine the \emph{$L_\infty$-algebra} that controls deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebra and show that it is an extension of the dg Lie algebra controlling deformations of the underlying LieRep pair by the dg Lie algebra controlling deformations of the relative Rota-Baxter operator. Consequently, we define the {\em cohomology} of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and relate it to their infinitesimal deformations. A large class of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras is obtained from triangular Lie bialgebras and we construct a map between the corresponding deformation complexes…
The homogeneous Rota-Baxter operators on the Witt and Virasoro algebras are classified. As applications, the induced solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation and the induced pre-Lie and PostLie algebra structures are obtained.
In this paper, first we introduce the notion of quadratic Rota-Baxter Lie algebras of arbitrary weight, and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between factorizable Lie bialgebras and quadratic Rota-Baxter Lie algebras of nonzero weight. Then we introduce the notions of matched pairs, bialgebras and Manin triples of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras of arbitrary weight, and show that Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras, Manin triples of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and certain matched pairs of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras are equivalent. The coadjoint representations and quadratic Rota-Baxter Lie algebras pl…
A generalisation of the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator is proposed. This generalisation consists of two operators acting on an associative algebra and satisfying equations similar to the Rota-Baxter equation. Rota-Baxter operators of any weights and twisted Rota-Baxter operators are solutions of the proposed system. It is shown that dendriform algebra structures of a particular kind are equivalent to Rota-Baxter systems. It is shown further that a Rota-Baxter system induces a weak peudotwistor [F. Panaite & F. Van Oystaeyen, Twisted algebras, twisted bialgebras and Rota-Baxter operators, arX…
We present a method for Baxterizing solutions of the constant Yang-Baxter equation associated with $\mathbb{Z}$-graded Hopf algebras. To demonstrate the approach, we provide examples for the Taft algebras and the quantum group $U_q[sl(2)]$.
In this paper, we review deformation, cohomology and homotopy theories of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, which have attracted quite much interest recently. Using Voronov's higher derived brackets, one can obtain an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras. Then using the twisting method, one can obtain the $L_\infty$-algebra that controls deformations of a relative \RB Lie algebra. Meanwhile, the cohomologies of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras can also be defined with the help of the twisted $L_\infty$-algebra. Using the controlling algebra ap…
We investigate some properties of Rota-Baxter operators on BiHom-Lie algebras. Along the way, we introduce BiHom analogues of pre-Lie and Leibniz algebras.
Following a recent work by C. Bai, O. Bellier, L. Guo, and X. Ni (arXiv:1106.6080) we define what is a dendriform di- or trialgebra in an arbitrary variety Var of algebras (associative, commutative, Poisson, etc.). We prove that every dendriform dialgebra in Var can be embedded into a Rota---Baxter algebra of weight zero in the same variety, and every dendriform trialgebra can be embedded into a Rota---Baxter algebra of nonzero weight.
We describe $L_\infty$-algebras governing homotopy relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and triangular $L_\infty$-bialgebras, and establish a map between them. Our formulas are based on a functorial approach to Voronov's higher derived brackets construction which is of independent interest.
The (G, θ)-Lie algebras are structures which unify the Lie algebras and Lie superalgebras. We use them to produce solutions for the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. The constant and the spectral-parameter Yang-Baxter equations and Yang-Baxter systems are also studied.
In this paper we introduce the concepts of a Rota-Baxter operator and a differential operator with weights on an $n$-algebra. We then focus on Rota-Baxter 3-Lie algebras and show that they can be derived from Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and pre-Lie algebras and from Rota-Baxter commutative associative algebras with derivations. We also establish the inheritance property of Rota-Baxter 3-Lie algebras.
We introduce the concept of an extended O-operator that generalizes the well-known concept of a Rota-Baxter operator. We study the associative products coming from these operators and establish the relationship between extended O-operators and the associative Yang-Baxter equation, extended associative Yang-Baxter equation and generalized Yang-Baxter equation.
We present solutions for the (constant and spectral-parameter) Yang-Baxter equations and Yang-Baxter systems arising from algebra structures and discuss about their symmetries. In the last section, we present some applications.
We establish a bialgebra structure on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras following the Manin triple approach to Lie bialgebras. Explicitly, Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras are characterized by generalizing matched pairs of Lie algebras and Manin triples of Lie algebras to the context of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras. The coboundary case leads to the introduction of the admissible classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) in Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, for which the antisymmetric solutions give rise to Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras. The notions of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and Rota-Baxter pre-Lie …
At the previous congress (CRM 6), we reviewed the construction of Yang-Baxter operators from associative algebras, and presented some (colored) bialgebras and Yang-Baxter systems related to them. The current talk deals with Yang-Baxter operators from (G, θ)-Lie algebras (structures which unify the Lie algebras and the Lie superalgebras). Thus, we produce solutions for the constant and the spectral-parameter Yang-Baxter equations, Yang-Baxter systems, etc. Attempting to present the general framework we review the work of other authors and we propose problems, applications and directions of stud…
We present a Baxterization of a two-colour generalization of the Birman--Wenzl--Murakami (BWM) algebra. Appropriately combining two RSOS-type representations of the ordinary BWM algebra, we construct representations of the two-colour algebra. Using the Baxterization, this provides new RSOS-type solutions to the Yang--Baxter equation.
Rota-Baxter algebras were introduced to solve some analytic and combinatorial problems and have appeared in many fields in mathematics and mathematical physics. Rota-Baxter algebras provide a construction of pre-Lie algebras from associative algebras. In this paper, we give all Rota-Baxter operators of weight 1 on complex associative algebras in dimension $\leq 3$ and their corresponding pre-Lie algebras.
We will introduce an associative (or quantum) version of Poisson structure tensors. This object is defined as an operator satisfying a "generalized" Rota-Baxter identity of weight zero. Such operators are called generalized Rota-Baxter operators. We will show that generalized Rota-Baxter operators are characterized by a cocycle condition so that Poisson structures are so. By analogy with twisted Poisson structures, we propose a new operator "twisted Rota-Baxter operators" which is a natural generalization of generalized Rota-Baxter operators. It is known that classical Rota-Baxter operators ar…
In this brief note we would like to report on an observation concerning the relation between Rota-Baxter operators and Loday-type algebras, i.e. dendriform di- and trialgebras. It is shown that associative algebras equipped with a Rota-Baxter operator of arbitrary weight always give such dendriform structures.
This paper first introduces the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator (of weight $1$) on a Lie group so that its differentiation gives a Rota-Baxter operator on the corresponding Lie algebra. Direct products of Lie groups, including the decompositions of Iwasawa and Langlands, carry natural Rota-Baxter operators. Formal inverse of the Rota-Baxter operator on a Lie group is precisely the crossed homomorphism on the Lie group, whose tangent map is the differential operator of weight $1$ on a Lie algebra. A factorization theorem of Rota-Baxter Lie groups is proved, deriving directly on the Lie group l…
