We consider massless Dirac operators on the half-line with compactly supported potentials. We solve the inverse problems in terms of Jost function and scattering matrix (including characterization). We study resonances as zeros of Jost function and prove that a potential is uniquely determined by its resonances. Moreover, we prove the following:
1) resonances are free parameters and a potential continuously depends on a resonance,
2) the forbidden domain for resonances is estimated,
3) asymptotics of resonance counting function is determined,
4) these results are applied to canonical systems.
We derive bounds on the location of non-embedded eigenvalues of Dirac operators on the half-line with non-Hermitian $L^1$-potentials. The results are sharp in the non-relativistic or weak-coupling limit. In the massless case, the absence of discrete spectrum is proved under a smallness assumption.
New formulas on the inverse problem for the continuous skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system are obtained. For the discrete skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system the solution of a general type inverse spectral problem is also derived in terms of the Weyl functions. The description of the Weyl functions on the interval is given. Borg-Marchenko type uniqueness theorems are derived for both discrete and continuous non-self-adjoint systems too.
The spectral properties of Dirac operators on $(0,1)$ with potentials that belong entrywise to $L_p(0,1)$, for some $p\in[1,\infty)$, are studied. The algorithm of reconstruction of the potential from two spectra or from one spectrum and the corresponding norming constants is established, and a complete solution of the inverse spectral problem is provided.
In this paper inverse problems for Dirac operator with nonlocal conditions are considered. Uniqueness theorems of inverse problems from the Weyl-type function and spectra are provided, which are generalizations of the well-known Weyl function and Borg's inverse problem for the classical Dirac operator.
New inverse and half-inverse problems: {\it sliding problems} are introduced. In this way several physically important equations are recovered from the quantum defect. In particular, sliding problems are solved for radial Schrödinger equation, radial Dirac system and multidimensional Schrödinger equation. Systems with Coulomb-type potentials are considered as well.
In this work we study the inverse scattering problem for the selfadjoint matrix Schrodinger operator on the half line. We provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse scattering problem.
In this paper, we consider a problem for the first order Dirac differential equations system with spectral parameter dependent in boundary condition. The asymptotic behaviors of eigenvalues, eigenfunctions and normalizing numbers of this system are investigated. The expansion formula with respect to eigenfunctions is obtained and Parseval equality is given. The main theorem on necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvabilty of inverse problem is proved and the algorithm of reconstruction of potential from spectral data (the sets of eigenvalues and normalizing numbers) is given.

We prove that the inverse spectral mapping reconstructing the square integrable potentials on [0,1] of Dirac operators in the AKNS form from their spectral data (two spectra or one spectrum and the corresponding norming constants) is analytic and uniformly stable in a certain sense.
In this paper, one dimentional conformable fractional Dirac-type integro differential system is considered. The asymptotic formulae for the solutions, eigenvalues and nodal points are obtained. We investigate the inverse nodal problem and give an effective procedure for solving the inverse nodal problem with respect to given a dense subset of nodal points .
Given a one-dimensional weighted Dirac operator we can define a spectral measure by virtue of singular Weyl-Titchmarsh-Kodaira theory. Using the theory of de Branges spaces we show that the spectral measure uniquely determines the Dirac operator up to a gauge transformation. Our result applies in particular to radial Dirac operators and extends the classical results for Dirac operators with one regular endpoint. Moreover, our result also improves the currently known results for canonical (Hamiltonian) systems. If one endpoint is limit circle case, we also establish corresponding two-spectra re…
For the direct problem, we give the asymptotic distribution of the (real and non-real) transmission eigenvalues for the Schrodinger operator on the half line. For the inverse problem, we prove that the potential can be uniquely determined by all transmission eigenvalues, the parameter in the boundary condition and some non-zero value related to the potential (whereas without the certain constant γ). The reconstruction algorithms are also revealed.
We consider limiting Carleman weights for Dirac operators and prove corresponding Carleman estimates. In particular, we show that limiting Carleman weights for the Laplacian also serve as limiting weights for Dirac operators. As an application we consider the inverse problem of recovering a Lipschitz continuous magnetic field and electric potential from boundary measurements for the Pauli Dirac operator.
In this paper, we study the inverse scattering problem for energy-dependent Schrödinger equations on the half-line with energy-dependent boundary conditions at the origin. Under certain positivity and very mild regularity assumptions, we transform this scattering problem to the one for non-canonical Dirac systems and show that, in turn, the latter can be placed within the known scattering theory for ZS-AKNS systems. This allows us to give a complete description of the corresponding scattering functions S for the class of problems under consideration and justify an algorithm of reconstructing t…
A non-classical Weyl theory is developed for skew-self-adjoint Dirac systems with rectangular matrix potentials. The notion of the Weyl function is introduced and direct and inverse problems are solved. A Borg-Marchenko type uniqueness result and the evolution of the Weyl function for the corresponding focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation are also derived.
We establish simple connections between response functions of the dynamical Dirac systems and $A$-amplitudes and Weyl functions of the spectral Dirac systems. Using these connections we propose a new and rigorous procedure to recover a general-type dynamical Dirac system from its response function as well as a procedure to construct explicit solutions of this problem.
We consider the perturbed harmonic oscillator $T_Dψ=-ψ''+x^2ψ+q(x)ψ$, $ψ(0)=0$ in $L^2(R_+)$, where $q\in H_+=\{q', xq\in L^2(R_+)\}$ is a real-valued potential. We prove that the mapping $q\mapsto{\rm spectral data}={\rm \{eigenvalues of\}T_D{\rm \}}\oplus{\rm \{norming constants\}}$ is one-to-one and onto. The complete characterization of the set of spectral data which corresponds to $q\in H_+$ is given. Moreover, we solve the similar inverse problem for the family of boundary conditions $ψ'(0)=b ψ(0)$, $b\in R$.
We solve inverse scattering problem for Schrödinger operators with compactly supported potentials on the half line. We discretize S-matrix: we take the value of the S-matrix on some infinite sequence of positive real numbers. Using this sequence obtained from S-matrix we recover uniquely the potential by a new explicit formula, without the Gelfand-Levitan-Marchenko equation.
We consider the perturbed harmonic oscillator $T_Dψ=-ψ''+x^2ψ+q(x)ψ$, $ψ(0)=0$, in $L^2(\R_+)$, where $q\in\bH_+=\{q', xq\in L^2(\R_+)\}$ is a real-valued potential. We prove that the mapping $q\mapsto{\rm spectral data}={\rm \{eigenvalues of\}T_D{\rm \}}\oplus{\rm \{norming constants\}}$ is one-to-one and onto. The complete characterization of the set of spectral data which corresponds to $q\in\bH_+$ is given.
The inverse scattering problem on the half-line has been studied in the literature in detail. V. Marchenko presented the solution to this problem. In this paper, the invertibility of the steps of the inversion procedure is discussed and a new set of necessary and sufficient conditions on the scattering data is given for the scattering data to be generated by a potential suitable potential. Our proof is new and in contrast with known proof it does not use equations on the negative half-line.
We study the polarization tensor of a Dirac field in $(3+1)$ dimensions confined to a half space -- a problem motivated by applications to the condensed matter physics, and to Topological Insulators in particular. Although the Pauli-Villars regularization scheme has a number of advantages, like explicit gauge invariance and decoupling of heavy modes, it is not applicable on manifolds with boundaries. Here, we modify this scheme by giving an axial mass to the regulators and to the physical field. We compute the renormalized polarization tensor in coordinate representation. We discuss then the i…
We consider massless Dirac operators on the real line with compactly supported potentials. We solve two inverse problems (including characterization): in terms of zeros of reflection coefficient and in terms of poles of reflection coefficients (i.e. resonances). We prove that a potential is uniquely determined by zeros of reflection coefficients and there exist distinct potentials with the same resonances. We describe the set of "isoresonance potentials". Moreover, we prove the following: 1) a zero of the reflection coefficient can be arbitrarily shifted, such that we obtain the sequence of ze…
We prove that the material parameters in a Dirac system with magnetic and electric potentials are uniquely determined by measurements made on a possibly small subset of the boundary. The proof is based on a combination of Carleman estimates for first and second order systems, and involves a reduction of the boundary measurements to the second order case. For this reduction a certain amount of decoupling is required. To effectively make use of the decoupling, the Carleman estimates are established for coefficients which may become singular in the asymptotic limit.
In this paper, we study the direct and inverse scattering theory at fixed energy for massless charged Dirac fields evolving in the exterior region of a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole. In the first part, we establish the existence and asymptotic completeness of time-dependent wave operators associated to our Dirac fields. This leads to the definition of the time-dependent scattering operator that encodes the far-field behavior (with respect to a stationary observer) in the asymptotic regions of the black hole: the event and cosmological horizons. We also use the miraculous property (quoting C…
In this paper we prove uniqueness for an inverse boundary value problem for the magnetic Schrödinger equation in a half space, with partial data. We prove that the curl of the magnetic potential $A$, when $A\in W_{comp}^{1,\infty}(\ov{\R^3_{-}},\R^3)$, and the electric pontetial $q \in L_{comp}^{\infty}(\ov{\R^3_{-}},\C)$ are uniquely determined by the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map on parts of the boundary of the half space.
This licentiate thesis is concerned with an inverse boundary value problem for the magnetic Schrödinger equation in a half space, for compactly supported potentials $A\in W^{1,\infty}(\bar{\mathbb{R}^3_{-}},\R^3)$ and $q \in L^{\infty}(\bar{\mathbb{R}^3_{-}},\C)$. We prove that $q$ and the curl of $A$ are uniquely determined by the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map on parts of the boundary of the half space. The existence and uniqueness of the corresponding direct problem are also considered.
Motivated from studies on anomalous diffusion, we show that the memory function $M(t)$ of complex materials, that their creep compliance follows a power law, $J(t)\sim t^q$ with $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$, is the fractional derivative of the Dirac delta function, $\frac{\mathrm{d}^qδ(t-0)}{\mathrm{d}t^q}$ with $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$. This leads to the finding that the inverse Laplace transform of $s^q$ for any $q\in \mathbb{R}^+$ is the fractional derivative of the Dirac delta function, $\frac{\mathrm{d}^qδ(t-0)}{\mathrm{d}t^q}$. This result, in association with the convolution theorem, makes possible t…
We prove that the class of resonances of Dirac operators on the half-line with compactly supported potentials is closed with respect to $\ell^1$ perturbations. We also prove that the potential depends continuously on such perturbations. We show that similar results hold true for the Jost functions and Hermite-Biehler functions associated with Dirac operators.
Spectral theory for non-self-adjoint Dirac operators with periodic potentials and inverse scattering transform for the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions
We solve for spectrum, obtain explicitly and study group properties of eigenfunctions of Dirac operator on the Riemann sphere $S^2$. The eigenvalues $λ$ are nonzero integers. The eigenfunctions are two-component spinors that belong to representations of SU(2)-group with half-integer angular momenta $l = |λ| - \half$. They form on the sphere a complete orthonormal functional set alternative to conventional spherical spinors. The difference and relationship between the spherical spinors in question and the standard ones are explained.
Two transforms of functions on a half-line are considered. It is proved that their composition gives a concave majorant for every nonnegative function. In particular, this composition is the identity transform on the class of nonnegative concave functions. Applications of this result to some problems of mathematical physics are indicated. Several open questions are formulated.
The heat equation with inverse square potential on both half-lines of $\mathbb{R}$ is discussed in the presence of \emph{bridging} boundary conditions at the origin. The problem is the lowest energy (zero-momentum) mode of the transmission of the heat flow across a Grushin-type cylinder, a generalisation of an almost Riemannian structure with compact singularity set. This and related models are reviewed, and the issue is posed of the analysis of the dispersive properties for the heat kernel generated by the underlying positive self-adjoint operator. Numerical integration is shown that provides…
In this paper, we develop an inverse scattering transform for the integrable focusing nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation on the half-line subject to a class of boundary conditions. The method is based on the notions of integrable boundary conditions and double-row monodromy matrix, developed by Sklyanin, which characterize initial-boundary value problems for NLS on an interval. It follows from Sklyanin's approach that a hierarchy of integrable boundary conditions can be derived based on a semi-discrete type Lax pair involving the time-part Lax matrix of NLS and a reflection matrix. The inver…
