I am grateful to Shilin Yu for pointing out a mistake in the first version of the paper. The second version includes description of symmetries acting on the codimension 2 singularities, and a discussion of expected symplectic duality, which this paper provides evidence to
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple classical Lie algebra over $\mathbb{C}$ and $G$ be the adjoint group. Consider a nilpotent element $e\in \mathfrak{g}$, and the adjoint orbit $\mathbb{O}=Ge$. The formal slices to the codimension $2$ orbits in the closure $\overline{\mathbb{O}}\subset \mathfrak{g}$ are well-known due to the work of Kraft and Procesi. In this paper, we prove a similar result for the universal $G$-equivariant cover $\widetilde{\mathbb{O}}$ of $\mathbb{O}$. Namely, we describe the codimension $2$ singularities for its affinization $Spec(\mathbb{C}[\widetilde{\mathbb{O}}])$.
In this paper I explore the relationship between regular functions associated to local systems on nilpotent orbits and unipotent representations in the complex groups.
In this manuscript, we compute explicitly the Lusztig-Vogan bijection for local systems of some classical, special, nilpotent orbits. Using these results, we prove a conjecture of Achar and Sommers on regular functions of some covers of classical nilpotent orbits.
A nilpotent orbit $O$ of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ has finite fundamental group. Associated with an etale cover of $O$, we have a finite cover of the closure $\bar{O}$ of $O$. In this article we consider the finite cover X associated with the universal cover of a nilpotent orbit $O$ of a classical simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. We construct explicitly a Q-factorial terminalization of X in a group theoretic way.
Let $M$ be a $G$-covering of a nilpotent orbit in $\g$ where $G$ is a complex semisimple Lie group and $\g=\text{Lie}(G)$. We prove that under Poisson bracket the space $R[2]$ of homogeneous functions on $M$ of degree 2 is the unique maximal semisimple Lie subalgebra of $R=R(M)$ containing $\g$. The action of $\g'\simeq R[2]$ exponentiates to an action of the corresponding Lie group $G'$ on a $G'$-cover $M'$ of a nilpotent orbit in $\g'$ such that $M$ is open dense in $M'$. We determine all such pairs $(\g\subset\g')$.
Let $O$ be a nilpotent orbit of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and let $π: X \to \bar{O}$ be the finite covering associated with the universal covering of $O$. In the previous article we have explicitly constructed a $\mathbf{Q}$-factorial terminalization $\tilde{X}$ of $X$ when $\mathfrak{g}$ is classical. In the present article, we count how many different $\mathbf{Q}$-factorial terminalizations $X$ has. We construct the universal Poisson deformation of $\tilde{X}$ over $H^2(\tilde{X}, \mathbf{C})$ and look at the action of the Weyl group $W(X)$ on $H^2(\tilde{X}, \mathbf{C}…
Let $G$ be a real simple Lie group, $\got g$ its Lie algebra. Given a nilpotent adjoint $G$-orbit $O$, the question is to determine the irreducible unitary representations of $G$ that we can associate to $O$, according to the orbit method. P.Torasso, in [22], gave a method to solve this problem if $O$ is minimal. In this paper, we study the case where $O$ is any spherical nilpotent orbit of $sl_n({\mathbb R})$, we construct, from $O$, a family of representations of the two-sheeted covering of $SL_n({\mathbb R})$ with Torasso's method and, finally, we show that all these representations are ass…
We determine which nilpotent orbits in $E_6$ have normal closure and which do not. We also verify a conjecture about small representations in rings of functions on nilpotent orbit covers for type $E_6$.
This short note is a supplement to the previous article with the same title. Here we treat a conical symplectic variety obtained as a finite covering of a (not necessarily normal) nilpotent orbit closure of a complex semisimple Lie algebra.
Let g be a semisimple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic 0 and O be a nilpotent orbit in g. Then Orb is a symplectic algebraic variety and one can ask whether it is possible to quantize $\Orb$ (in an appropriate sense) and, if so, how to classify the quantizations. On the other hand, for the pair (g,O) one can construct an associative algebra W called a (finite) W-algebra. The goal of this paper is to clarify a relationship between quantizations of O (and of its coverings) and 1-dimensional W-modules. In the first approximation, our result is that there is a one…
Let $G$ be a connected, simply connected nilpotent group and $π$ be a square-integrable irreducible unitary representation modulo its center $Z(G)$ on $L^2(\mathbf{R}^d)$. We prove that under reasonably weak conditions on $G$ and $π$ there exist a discrete subset $Γ$ of $G/Z(G)$ and some (relatively) compact set $F \subseteq \mathbf{R}^d$ such that $$\bigl \{ |F|^{-1/2} \hspace{2pt} π(γ) 1_F \mid γ\in Γ\bigr\}$$ forms an orthonormal basis of $L^2(\mathbf{R}^d)$. This construction generalizes the well-known example of Gabor orthonormal bases in time-frequency analysis. The main theorem covers g…
The results in this paper provide a comparison between the $K$-structure of unipotent representations and regular sections of bundles on nilpotent orbits. Precisely, let $\widetilde{G_0} =\widetilde{Spin}(a,b)$ with $a+b=2n$, the nonlinear double cover of $Spin(a,b)$, and let $\widetilde{K}=Spin(a, \mathbb C)\times Spin(b, \mathbb C)$ be the complexification of the maximal compact subgroup of $\widetilde{G_0}$. We consider the nilpotent orbit $\mathcal O_c$ parametrized by $[3 \ 2^{2k} \ 1^{2n-4k-3}]$ with $k>0$. We provide a list of unipotent representations that are genuine, and prove that t…
Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is $B_n$ via $C_n$. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits. Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced cover…
We construct by geometric methods a noncommutative model E of the algebra of regular functions on the universal (2-fold) cover M of certain nilpotent coadjoint orbits O for a complex simple Lie algebra g. Here O is the dense orbit in the cotangent bundle of the generalized flag variety X associated to a complexified Cartan decomposition g=(p^+)+k+(p^-) where p^+- are Jordan algebras by the TKK construction. We obtain E as the algebra of g-finite differential operators on a smooth Lagrangian subvariety in M where g is given by differential operators twisted according to a critical parameter. Af…
In this paper, we begin a quantization program for nilpotent orbits of a real semisimple Lie group. These orbits and their covers generalize the symplectic vector space. A complex structure polarizing the orbit and invariant under a maximal compact subgroup is provided by the Kronheimer-Vergne Kaehler structure. We outline a geometric program for quantizing the orbit with respect to this polarization. We work out this program in detail for minimal nilpotent orbits in the non-Hermitian case. The Hilbert space of quantization consists of holomorphic half-forms on the orbit. We construct the repr…
Let M be a Galois cover of a nilpotent coadjoint orbit of a complex semisimple Lie group. We define the notion of a PERFECT Dixmier algebra for M and show how this produces a graded (non-local) equivariant star product on M with several very nice properties. This is part of a larger program we have been developing for working out the orbit method for nilpotent orbits.
