We prove that if $P,\mathcal{L}$ are finite sets of $δ$-separated points and lines in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$, the number of $δ$-incidences between $P$ and $\mathcal{L}$ is no larger than a constant times $$|P|^{2/3}|\mathcal{L}|^{2/3} \cdot δ^{-1/3}.$$ We apply the bound to obtain the following variant of the Loomis-Whitney inequality in the Heisenberg group: $$ |K| \lesssim |π_{x}(K)|^{2/3} \cdot |π_{y}(K)|^{2/3}, \qquad K \subset \mathbb{H}. $$ Here $π_{x}$ and $π_{y}$ are the vertical projections to the $xt$- and $yt$-planes, respectively, and $|\cdot|$ refers to natural Haar measure on either $\mathbb{H}$, or one of the planes. Finally, as a corollary of the Loomis-Whitney inequality, we deduce that $$ \|f\|_{4/3} \lesssim \sqrt{\|Xf\| \|Yf\| }, \qquad f \in BV(\mathbb{H}), $$ where $X,Y$ are the standard horizontal vector fields in $\mathbb{H}$. This is a sharper version of the classical geometric Sobolev inequality $\|f\|_{4/3} \lesssim \|\nabla_{\mathbb{H}}f\|$ for $f \in BV(\mathbb{H})$.
The purpose of this survey is to give a comprehensive introduction to some classes of classical and recent analytic inequalities in Inner Product Spaces.
In this paper, we investigate the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on the Heisenberg group. On one hand, we apply the concentration compactness principle to prove the existence of the maximizers. While the approach here gives a different proof under the special cases discussed in a recent work of Frank and Lieb, we generalize the result to all admissible cases. On the other hand, we provide the upper bounds of sharp constants for these inequalities.
In this paper, we got several sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev-type inequalities on quaternionic Heisenberg groups (a general form due to Folland and Stein [FS74]), using the symmetrization-free method in a paper of Frank and Lieb [FL12], where they considered the analogues on classical Heisenberg group. First, we give the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities, both on quaternionic Heisenberg group and its equivalent on quaternionic sphere for exponent bigger than 4. The extremizer, as we guess, is almost uniquely constant function on sphere. Then their dual form, sharp conformally-invaria…
We prove dispersive and Strichartz inequalities for the solution of the wave equation related to the full Laplacian on the Heisenberg group, by means of Besov spaces defined by a Littlewood--Paley decomposition related to the spectral resolution of the full Laplacian. This requires a careful analysis due also to the non-homogeneous nature of the full Laplacian. This result has to be compared to a previous one by Bahouri, Gérard and Xu concerning the solution of the wave equation related to the Kohn-Laplacian.
We give some estimates of the remainder terms for several conformally-invariant Sobolev-type inequalities on the Heisenberg group, in analogy with the Euclidean case. By considering the variation of associated functionals, we give a stability of two dual forms: the fractional Sobolev (Folland-Stein) and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, in terms of distance to the submanifold of extremizers. Then we compare their remainder terms to improve the inequalities in another way. We also compare, in the limit case s = Q (or $λ$ = 0), the remainder terms of Beckner-Onofri inequality and its dual Log…
This note concerns Loomis-Whitney inequalities in Heisenberg groups $\mathbb{H}^n$: $$|K| \lesssim \prod_{j=1}^{2n}|π_j(K)|^{\frac{n+1}{n(2n+1)}}, \qquad K \subset \mathbb{H}^n.$$ Here $π_{j}$, $j=1,\ldots,2n$, are the vertical Heisenberg projections to the hyperplanes $\{x_j=0\}$, respectively, and $|\cdot|$ refers to a natural Haar measure on either $\mathbb{H}^n$, or one of the hyperplanes. The Loomis-Whitney inequality in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$ is a direct consequence of known $L^p$ improving properties of the standard Radon transform in $\mathbb{R}^2$. In this note, we …
In this paper, we establish the existence of extremals for two kinds of Stein-Weiss inequalities on the Heisenberg group. More precisely, we prove the existence of extremals for the Stein-Weiss inequalities with full weights in Theorem 1.1 and the Stein-Weiss inequalities with horizontal weights in Theorem 1.4. Different from the proof of the analogous inequality in Euclidean spaces given by Lieb [26] using Riesz rearrangement inequality which is not available on the Heisenberg group, we employ the concentration compactness principle to obtain the existence of the maximizers on the Heisenberg …
A theorem of Dorronsoro from the 1980s quantifies the fact that real-valued Sobolev functions on Euclidean spaces can be approximated by affine functions almost everywhere, and at all sufficiently small scales. We prove a variant of Dorronsoro's theorem in Heisenberg groups: functions in horizontal Sobolev spaces can be approximated by affine functions which are independent of the last variable. As an application, we deduce new proofs for certain vertical vs. horizontal Poincaré inequalities for real-valued functions on the Heisenberg group, originally due to Austin-Naor-Tessera and Lafforgue-…
In this paper, an analogous of Heisenberg inequality is established for Laguerre-Bessel transform. Also, a local uncertainty principle for this transform is investigate
We prove Hardy inequalities for the conformally invariant fractional powers of the sublaplacian on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$. We prove two versions of such inequalities depending on whether the weights involved are non-homogeneous or homogeneous. In the first case, the constant arising in the Hardy inequality turns out to be optimal. In order to get our results, we will use ground state representations. The key ingredients to obtain the latter are some explicit integral representations for the fractional powers of the sublaplacian and a generalized result by M. Cowling and U. Haageru…
We are interested in sharp functional inequalities for the coherent state transform related to the Wehrl conjecture and its generalizations. This conjecture was settled by Lieb in the case of the Heisenberg group and then by Lieb and Solovej for SU(2) and by Kulikov for SU(1,1) and the affine group. In this paper, we give alternative proofs and characterize, for the first time, the optimizers in the general case. We also extend the recent Faber--Krahn-type inequality for Heisenberg coherent states, due to Nicola and Tilli, to the SU(2) and SU(1,1) cases. Finally, we prove a family of reverse H…
Consider the surface measure $μ$ on a sphere in a nonvertical hyperplane on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$, $n\ge 2$, and the convolution $f*μ$. Form the associated maximal function $Mf=\sup_{t>0}|f*μ_t|$ generated by the automorphic dilations. We use decoupling inequalities due to Wolff and Bourgain-Demeter to prove $L^p$-boundedness of $M$ in an optimal range.
We prove $L^p_{comp}\to L^p_{s}$ boundedness for averaging operators associated to a class of curves in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$ via $L^2$ estimates for related oscillatory integrals and Bourgain-Demeter decoupling inequalities on the cone. We also construct a Sobolev space adapted to translations on the Heisenberg group to which these averaging operators map all $L^p$ functions boundedly.

We obtain several versions of the Hausdorff-Young and Hardy-Littlewood inequalities for the $(k,a)$-generalized Fourier transform recently investigated at length by Ben Saï d, Kobayashi, and Ø rsted. We also obtain a number of weighted inequalities - in particular Pitt's inequality - that have application to uncertainty principles. Specifically we obtain several analogs of the Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl principle for $L^p$-functions, local Cowling-Price-type inequalities, Donoho-Stark-type inequalities and qualitative extensions. We finally use the Hausdorff-Young inequality as a means to obtain en…
In the last few years the authors proved Poincaré and Sobolev type inequalities in Heisenberg groups $\mathbb{H}^n$ for differential forms in the Rumin's complex. The need to substitute the usual de Rham complex of differential forms for Euclidean spaces with the Rumin's complex is due to the different stratification of the Lie algebra of Heisenberg groups. The crucial feature of Rumin's complex is that $d_c$ is a differential operator of order 1 or 2 according to the degree of the form. Roughly speaking, Poincaré and Sobolev type inequalities are quantitative formulations of the well known to…
Let $\mathbb G$ be a step-two nilpotent group of H-type with Lie algebra $\mathfrak G=V\oplus \mathfrak t$. We define a class of vector fields $X=\{X_j\}$ on $\mathbb G$ depending on a real parameter $k\ge 1$, and we consider the corresponding $p$-Laplacian operator $L_{p,k} u= \text{div}_X (|\na_{X} u|^{p-2} \na_X u)$. For $k=1$ the vector fields $X=\{X_j\}$ are the left invariant vector fields corresponding to an orthonormal basis of $V$, for $k=2$ and $\mathbb G$ being the Heisenberg group they are introduced by Greiner \cite{Greiner-cjm79}. In this paper we obtain the fundamental solution …
