Generally-unbounded infinitesimal generators are studied in the context of operator topology. Beginning with the definition of seminorm, the concept of locally convex topological vector space is introduced as well as the concept of Fr{é}chet space. These are the basic concepts for defining an operator topology. Consequently, by associating the topological concepts with the convergence of sequence, a suitable mathematical framework for obtaining the logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators is presented.
The logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators is generalized to the cases when the evolution operator is unbounded. The generalized result is applicable to the representation of infinitesimal generators of unbounded evolution operators, where unboundedness of evolution operator is an essential ingredient of nonlinear analysis. In conclusion a general framework for the identification between the infinitesimal generators with evolution operators is established. A mathematical framework for such an identification is indispensable to the rigorous treatment of nonlinear transforms: e.g…
The concept of logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators is introduced, and it is applied to clarify the algebraic structure of bounded and unbounded infinitesimal generators. In particular, by means of the logarithmic representation, the bounded components can be extracted from generally-unbounded infinitesimal generators. In conclusion the concept of module over a Banach algebra is proposed as the generalization of Banach algebra. As an application to mathematical physics, the rigorous formulation of rotation group, which consists of unbounded operators being written by differen…
The operator algebra is introduced based on the framework of logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators. In conclusion a set of generally-unbounded infinitesimal generators is characterized as a module over the Banach algebra.
A logarithm representation of operators is introduced as well as a concept of pre-infinitesimal generator. Generators of invertible evolution families are represented by the logarithm representation, and a set of operators represented by the logarithm is shown to be associated with analytic semigroups. Consequently generally-unbounded infinitesimal generators of invertible evolution families are characterized by a convergent power series representation.
The Heisenberg group is one of the simplest sub-Riemannian settings in which we can define non-elliptic Hörmander type generators. We can then consider coercive inequalities associated to such generators. We prove that a certain class of nontrivial Gibbs measures with quadratic interaction potential on an infinite product of Heisenberg groups satisfy logarithmic Sobolev inequalities.
In the present paper we show that the Levy-Ito representation of the infinitesimal generator $L$ for Levy processes $X_t$ can be written in a convolution-type form. Using the obtained convolution form we have constructed the quasi-potential operator $B$. We denote by $p(t,Δ)$ the probability that a sample of the process $X_t$ remains inside the domain $Δ$ for $0{\leq}τ{\leq}t$ (ruin problem). With the help of the operator $B$ we find a new formula for $p(t,Δ)$. This formula allows us to obtain long time behavior of $p(t,Δ)$.
We establish the notion of a ``projective analytic vector'', whose defining requirements are weaker than the usual ones of an analytic vector, and use it to prove generation theorems for one-parameter groups on locally convex spaces. More specifically, we give a characterization of the generators of strongly continuous one-parameter groups which arise as the result of a projective limit procedure, in which the existence of a dense set of projective analytic vectors plays a central role. An application to strongly continuous Lie group representations on Banach spaces is given, with a focused an…
In this paper we extend the Lumer-Phillips theorem to the context of two--parameter C_0-semigroup of contractions. That is, we characterize the infinitesimal generators of two--parameter C_0-semigroups of contractions. Conditions on the behavior of the resolvent of operators, which are necessary and sufficient for the pair of operators to be the infinitesimal generator of a C_0-semigroup of contractions are given.
In this paper we consider a norm based on the infinitesimal generator of the shift semigroup in a direction. The relevance of such a focus is guaranteed by an abstract representation of a fractional integro-differential operator by means of a composition of the corresponding infinitesimal generator. The main result of the paper is a theorem establishing equivalence of norms in functional spaces. Even without mentioning the relevance of this result for the constructed theory, we claim it deserves to be considered itself.
Introducing the notions of (inner) $σ$-derivation, (inner) $σ$-endomorphism and one-parameter group of $σ$-endomorphisms ($σ$-dynamics) on a Banach algebra, we correspond to each $σ$-dynamics a $σ$-derivation named as its $σ$-infinitesimal generator. We show that the $σ$-infinitesimal generator of a $σ$-dynamics of inner $σ$-endomorphisms is an inner $σ$-derivation and deal with the converse. We also establish a nice generalized Leibniz formula and extend the Kleinenckr--Sirokov theorem for $σ$-derivations under certain conditions.
Operator representation of Cole-Hopf transform is obtained based on the logarithmic representation of infinitesimal generators. For this purpose the relativistic formulation of abstract evolution equation is introduced. Even independent of the spatial dimension, the Cole-Hopf transform is generalized to a transform between linear and nonlinear equations defined in Banach spaces. In conclusion a role of transform between the evolution operator and its infinitesimal generator is understood in the context of generating nonlinear semigroup.
A strong inspiration for studying perturbation theory for fractional evolution equations comes from the fact that they have proven to be useful tools in modeling many physical processes. In this paper, we study fractional evolution equations of order $α\in (1,2]$ associated with the infinitesimal generator of an operator fractional cosine function generated by bounded time-dependent perturbations in a Banach space. We show that the abstract fractional Cauchy problem associated with the infinitesimal generator $A$ of a strongly continuous fractional cosine function remains uniformly well-posed …
The relativistic formulation of abstract evolution equations is introduced. The corresponding logarithmic representation is shown to exist without assuming the invertible property of evolution operators. Consequently, by means of the logarithmic representation of operators, nonlinear and discrete properties are shown to be valid to the infinitesimal generators of relativistic abstract evolution equations.
In this article we investigate the spectral properties of the infinitesimal generator of an infinite system of master equations arising in the analysis of the approach to equilibrium in statistical mechanics. The system under investigation thus consists of infinitely many first-order differential equations governing the time evolution of probabilities susceptible of describing jumps between the eigenstates of a differential operator with a discrete point spectrum. The transition rates between eigenstates are chosen in such a way that the so-called detailed balance conditions are satisfied, so …
We revise the operator-norm convergence of the Trotter product formula for a pair {A,B} of generators of semigroups on a Banach space. Operator-norm convergence holds true if the dominating operator A generates a holomorphic contraction semigroup and B is a A-infinitesimally small generator of a contraction semigroup, in particular, if B is a bounded operator. Inspired by studies of evolution semigroups it is shown in the present paper that the operator-norm convergence generally fails even for bounded operators B if A is not a holomorphic generator. Moreover, it is shown that operator norm co…
We prove that the negative infinitesimal generator $L$ of a semigroup of positive contractions on $L^\infty$ has a bounded $H^\infty(S_η^0)$-calculus on the associated Poisson semigroup-BMO space for any angle $η>π/2$, provided the semigroup satisfies Bakry-Emry's $Γ_2 $ criterion. Our arguments only rely on the properties of the underlying semigroup and works well in the noncommutative setting. A key ingredient of our argument is a quasi monotone property for the subordinated semigroup $T_{t,α}=e^{-tL^α},0<α<1$, that is proved in the first half of the article.
In this paper we answer the following question: what is the infinitesimal generator of the diffusion process defined by a kernel that is normalized such that it is bi-stochastic with respect to a specified measure? More precisely, under the assumption that data is sampled from a Riemannian manifold we determine how the resulting infinitesimal generator depends on the potentially nonuniform distribution of the sample points, and the specified measure for the bi-stochastic normalization. In a special case, we demonstrate a connection to the heat kernel. We consider both the case where only a sin…
We identify the semigroups consisting of bounded composition operators on the Hardy spaces $H^p(\U)$ of the upper half-plane. We show that any such semigroup is strongly continuous on $H^p(\U)$ but not uniformly continuous and we identify the infinitesimal generator.
The main subject in this paper are degenerate $C$-ultradistribution semigroups in barreled sequentially complete locally convex spaces. Here, the regularizing operator $C$ is not necessarily injective and the infinitesimal generator is multivalued linear operator. We also consider exponential degenerate $C$-ultradistribution semigroups.
We extend results of Caffarelli--Silvestre and Stinga--Torrea regarding a characterization of fractional powers of differential operators via an extension problem. Our results apply to generators of integrated families of operators, in particular to infinitesimal generators of bounded $C_0$ semigroups and operators with purely imaginary symbol. We give integral representations to the extension problem in terms of solutions to the heat equation and the wave equation.
