Quantum Fisher information (QFI) has potential applications in quantum metrology tasks. We investigate QFI when the consecutive actions of a quantum channel on the sequence of qubits have partial classical correlations. Our results showed that while the decoherence effect is detrimental to QFI, effects of such classical correlations on QFI are channel-dependent. For the Bell-type probe states, the classical correlations on consecutive actions of the depolarizing and phase flip channels can be harnessed to improve QFI, while the classical correlations in the bit flip and bit-phase flip channels induce a slight decrease of QFI. For a more general parameterization form of the probe states, the advantage of using initial correlated system on improving QFI can also be remained in a wide regime of the correlated quantum channels.
In this work, we study the quantum Fisher information (QFI) per particle of an open (particles can enter and leave the system) and dissipative (far from thermodynamical equilibrium) steady state system of two qubits in noisy channels. We concentrate on two noisy channels these are dephasing and non-dephasing channels. We will show that under certain conditions QFI per particle is slightly greater than 1 for both systems. This means that both systems can be slightly entangled.
The fidelity function of quantum states have been widely used in quantum information science and frequently arises in the quantification of optimal performances for the estimation and distinguish of quantum states. A fidelity function on quantum channel is expected to have same wide applications in quantum information science. In this paper we propose a fidelity function on quantum channels and show that various distance measures on quantum channels can be obtained from this fidelity function, for example the Bures angle and the Bures distance can be extended to quantum channels via this fidel…
We study the changes in quantum Fisher information (QFI) values for one quantum system consisting of a superposition of W and GHZ states. In a recent work [6], QFI values of this mentioned system studied. In this work, we extend this problem for the changes of QFI values in some noisy channels. We show the change in QFI depending on noise parameters. We report interesting results for different type of decoherence channels.
The dynamics of a charged two-qubit system prepared initially in a maximum entangled state is discussed, where each qubit interacts independently with a dephasing channel. The Fisher information is used to estimate the channel and the energy parameters. Moreover, the contribution from different parts of Fisher information is discussed. We show that, the degree of estimation of any parameter depends on the initial value of this parameter. It turns out that the upper bounds of Fisher information with respect to the dephasing parameter increase and that corresponding to coupling parameter decreas…
We prove that for a large class of quantum Fisher information, a quantum channel is sufficient for a family of quantum states, i.e., the input states can be recovered from the output, if and only if the quantum Fisher information is preserved under the quantum channel. This class, for instance, includes Winger-Yanase-Dyson skew information. On the other hand, interestingly, the SLD quantum Fisher information, as the most popular example of quantum analog of Fisher information, does not satisfy this property. Our recoverability result is obtained by studying Riemannian monotone metrics on the q…
In this manuscript, we investigate the effect of the white and color noise on a accelerated two-qubit system, where different initial state setting are considered. The behavior of the survival amount of entanglement is quantified for this accelerated system by means of the concurrence. We show that, the color noise enhances the generated entanglement between the two particles even for small values of the initial purity of the accelerated state. However, the larger values of the white noise strength improve the generated entanglement. The initial parameters that describe this system are estimat…
In the present study, time evolution of quantum Cramer-Rao bound of entangled N00N state, as phase sensitivity, is determined by the aid of quantum estimation theory in the presence decoherence channels. Also, the dynamic quantum process as decoherence approach is characterized by quantum fisher information flow and entanglement amount in order to distinguish between Markovian and Non-Markovian process. The comparison between quantum fisher information and quantum fisher information flow assists to comprehend the phase sensitivity evolution corresponding to Non-Markovian and Markovian process.…
We study the quantum Fisher information (QFI) of W states analytically with respect to SU(2) rotations in the basic decoherence channels i.e. depolarizing (DPC), amplitude damping (ADC) and phase damping (PDC), and present the interesting behavior of QFI of W states, especially when compared to that of GHZ states [Ma et al., Phys. Rev. A, 84, 022302 (2011)]. We find that when initially pure W states are under decoherence, i) DPC: as decoherence starts and increases, QFI smoothly decays; ii) ADC: just as decoherence starts, QFI exhibits a sudden drop to the shot noise level and as decoherence i…
We derive upper bounds on the quantum Fisher information in interferometry with $N$ subsystems, e.g. two-level atoms or Gaussian modes, in the presence of arbitrarily correlated Gaussian dephasing including independent and collective dephasing. The derived upper bound enables us to analyse the Fisher information asymptotic behaviour when $N\rightarrow\infty$. Dephasing introduces random phases to subsystems dynamics, which lowers the precision of estimating the phase difference $ϕ$ in an interferometer. The method presented uses Bayesian estimation of the random phases and eliminates dephasing…
We introduce a new incompatibility criterion for quantum channels, based on the notion of (quantum) Fisher information. Our construction is based on a similar criterion for quantum measurements put forward by H.~Zhu. We then study the power of the incompatibility criterion in different scenarios. Firstly, we prove the first analytical conditions for the incompatibility of two Schur channels. Then, we study the incompatibility structure of a tuple of depolarizing channels, comparing the newly introduced criterion with the known results from asymmetric quantum cloning.
Quantum Fisher information is the principal tool used to give the ultimate precision bound on the estimation of parameters for quantum channels. In this work, we present analytical expressions for the quantum Fisher information with three noisy channels for the case where the channels are in superposition of causal orders. We found that the quantum Fisher information increases as the number of causal orders increases for certain combinations. We also show that certain combinations of causal orders attain higher precision on bounds than others for the same number of causal orders. Based on our …
We develop a Bloch vector representation of Unruh channel for a Dirac field mode. This is used to provide a unified, analytical treatment of quantum Fisher and Skew information for a qubit subjected to the Unruh channel, both in its pure form as well as in the presence of experimentally relevant external noise channels. The time evolution of Fisher and Skew information is studied along with the impact of external environment parameters such as temperature and squeezing. The external noises are modelled by both purely dephasing phase damping as well as the squeezed generalized amplitude damping…
Quantum Fisher information characterizes the phase sensitivity of qubits in the spin-boson model with a finite bandwidth spectrum. In contrast with Markovian reservoirs, the quantum Fisher information will flow from the environments to qubits after some times if the bath parameter $s$ is larger than a critical value which is related to temperatures. The sudden change behavior will happen during the evolution of the quantum Fisher information of the maximal entanglement state in the non-Markovian environments. The sudden change times can be varied with the change of the bath parameter $s$. For …
Capacity of dense coding via correlated noisy channel is greater than that in uncorrelated noisy channel. It is shown that weak measurement and reversal measurement can make further effort to improve quantum dense coding capacity in correlated amplitude damping channel, but this effort is very small in correlated phase damping channel and correlated depolarizing channel.
We study the effect of correlated Markovian noise channels on the quantum speed limit of an open system. This is done for correlated dephasing and amplitude damping channels for a two qubit atomic model. Our model serves as a platform for a detailed study of speed of quantum evolution in correlated open systems.
We test a general method to detect lower bounds of the quantum channel capacity for two-qubit correlated channels. We consider in particular correlated dephasing, depolarising and amplitude damping channels. We show that the method is easily implementable, it does not require a priori knowledge about the channels, and it is very efficient, since it does not rely on full quantum process tomography.
Memory effects play a fundamental role in the dynamics of open quantum systems. There exist two different views on memory for quantum noises. In the first view, the quantum channel has memory when there exist correlations between successive uses of the channels on a sequence of quantum systems. These types of channels are also known as correlated quantum channels. In the second view, memory effects result from correlations which are created during the quantum evolution. In this work we will consider the first view and study the quantum speed limit time for a correlated quantum channel. Quantum…
We calculate the information capacities of a time-correlated amplitude-damping channel, provided the sender and receiver share prior entanglement. Our analytical results show that the noisy channel with zero capacity can transmit information if it has finite memory. The capacities increase as the memory increases attaining maximum value for perfect memory channel.
We analyze the problem of sending classical information through qubit channels where successive uses of the channel are correlated. This work extends the analysis of C. Macchiavello and G. M. Palma to the case of a non-Pauli channel - the amplitude damping channel. Using the channel description outlined in S. Daffer, et al, we derive the correlated amplitude damping channel. We obtain a similar result to C. Macchiavello and G. M. Palma, that is, that under certain conditions on the degree of channel memory, the use of entangled input signals may enhance the information transmission compared to…

We study information transmission over a fully correlated amplitude damping channel acting on two qubits. We derive the single-shot classical channel capacity and show that entanglement is needed to achieve the channel best performance. We discuss the degradability properties of the channel and evaluate the quantum capacity for any value of the noise parameter. We finally compute the entanglement-assisted classical channel capacity.
We propose to use the quantum Fisher information in characterizing the information flow of open quantum systems. This information-theoretic approach provides a quantitative measure to statistically distinguish Markovian and non-Markovian processes. A basic relation between the QFI flow and non-Markovianity is unveiled for quantum dynamics of open systems. For a class of time-local master equations, the exactly-analytic solution shows that the non-Markovianity is characterized by additive information sub-flows in different non-Markovian channels.
We calculate the entanglement-assisted classical capacity of symmetric and asymmetric Pauli channels where two consecutive uses of the channels are correlated. It is evident from our study that in the presence of memory, a higher amount of classical information is transmitted over quantum channels if there exists prior entanglement as compared to product and entangled state coding.
This work is the development and analysis of the recently proposed quantum cryptographic protocol, based on the use of the two-mode coherently correlated states. The protocol is supplied with the cryptographic control procedures. The quantum noise influence on the channel error properties is examined. State detection features are proposed.
Motivated by the results of C. Macchiavello and G. M. Palma on entanglement-enhanced information transmission over a quantum channel with correlated noise, we demonstrate how the entanglement teleportation scheme of J. Lee and M. S. Kim gives rise to two uncorrelated generalized depolarizing channels. In an attempt to find a teleportation scheme which yields two correlated generalized depolarizing channels, we discover a novel teleportation scheme, which allows one to learn about the entanglement in an entangled pure input state, but without decreasing the amount of entanglement associated wit…

Quantum teleportation of a n-qubit state performed using as entangled resource a general bipartite state of 2n qubits instead of n Bell states is equivalent to a correlated Pauli channel. This provides a new characterization of such channels in terms of many-body correlation functions of the teleporting media. Our model is then generalized to the Continuous Variable case. We show that this new representation provides a relatively simple method for determining whether a correlated quantum channel is able to reliably convey quantum messages by studying the entanglement properties of the teleport…
We show that entanglement is a useful resource to enhance the mutual information of the depolarizing channel when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. We obtain a threshold in the degree of memory, depending on the shrinking factor of the channel, above which a higher amount of classical information is transmitted with entangled signals.
The classical capacity of a quantum channel with arbitrary Markovian correlated noise is evaluated. For the general case of a channel with long-term memory, which corresponds to a Markov chain which does not converge to equilibrium, the capacity is expressed in terms of the communicating classes of the Markov chain. For an irreducible and aperiodic Markov chain, the channel is forgetful, and one retrieves the known expression for the capacity.
We study optimal rates for quantum communication over a single use of a channel, which itself can correspond to a finite number of uses of a channel with arbitrarily correlated noise. The corresponding capacity is often referred to as the one-shot quantum capacity. In this paper, we prove bounds on the one-shot quantum capacity of an arbitrary channel. This allows us to compute the quantum capacity of a channel with arbitrarily correlated noise, in the limit of asymptotically many uses of the channel. In the memoryless case, we explicitly show that our results reduce to known expressions for t…
We have investigated how memory effects on the teleportation of quantum Fisher information(QFI) for a single qubit system using a class of X-states as resources influenced by decoherence channels with memory, including amplitude damping, phase-damping and depolarizing channels. Resort to the definition of QFI, we first derive the explicit analytical results of teleportation of QFI with respect to weight parameter $θ$ and phase parameter $ϕ$ under the decoherence channels. Component percentages, the teleportation of QFI for a two-qubit entanglement system has also been addressed. The remarkable…
Entanglement and entanglement-assisted are useful resources to enhance the mutual information of the Pauli channels, when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. In this paper, We study quantum communication channels with correlated noise and derive a general expression for the mutual information of quantum channel, for the product, maximally entangled state coding and entanglement-assisted systems with correlated noise in the Pauli quantum channels. Hence, we suggest more efficient coding in the entanglement-assisted systems for the transmission of classica…
The maximal evolution speed of a quantum system can be represented by quantum speed limit time (QSLT).We investigate QSLT of a two-qubit system passing through a correlated channel (amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarizing).By adjusting the correlation parameter of channel and the initial entanglement,a method to accelerate the evolution speed of the system for some specific channels is proposed. It is shown that, in amplitude damping channel and depolarizing channel,QSLT may be shortened in some cases by increasing correlation parameter of the channel and initial entanglement, which …
We report quantum communications channel using photon number correlated twin beams. The twin beams are generated from a nondegenerate optical parametric oscillator, and the photon number difference is used to encode the signal. The bit error rate of our system will be 0.067 by using the twin beams comparing with 0.217 by using the coherent state as the signal carrier.
We construct a class of quantum channels in arbitrary dimensions for which entanglement improves the performance of the channel. The channels have correlated noise and when the level of correlation passes a critical value we see a sharp transition in the optimal input states (states which minimize the output entropy) from separable to maximally entangled states. We show that for a subclass of channels with some extra conditions, including the examples which we consider, the states which minimize the output entropy are the ones which maximize the mutual information.
We develop a model for a noisy communication channel in which the noise affecting consecutive transmissions is correlated. This model is motivated by fluctuating birefringence of fiber optic links. We analyze the role of entanglement of the input states in optimizing the classical capacity of such a channel. Assuming a general form of an ensemble for two consecutive transmissions, we derive tight bounds on the classical channel capacity depending on whether the input states used for communication are separable or entangled across different temporal slots. This result demonstrates that by an ap…
We study the capacity of d-dimensional quantum channels with memory modeled by correlated noise. We show that, in agreement with previous results on Pauli qubit channels, there are situations where maximally entangled input states achieve higher values of mutual information than product states. Moreover, a strong dependence of this effect on the nature of the noise correlations as well as on the parity of the space dimension is found. We conjecture that when entanglement gives an advantage in terms of mutual information, maximally entangled states saturate the channel capacity.
We present an experimental method to detect lower bounds to the quantum capacity of two-qubit communication channels. We consider an implementation with polarisation degrees of freedom of two photons and report on the efficiency of such a method in the presence of correlated noise for varying values of the correlation strength. The procedure is based on the generation of separable states of two qubits and local measurements at the output. We also compare the performance of the correlated two-qubit channel with the single-qubit channels corresponding to the partial trace on each of the subsyste…
In statistical estimation theory, it has been shown previously that the Wigner-Yanase skew information is bounded by the quantum Fisher information associated with the phase parameter. Besides, the quantum Cramér-Rao inequality is expressed in terms of skew information. Since these two fundamental quantities are based on the concept of quantum uncertainty, we derive here their analytical formulas for arbitrary two qubit $X$-states using the same analytical procedures. A comparison of these two informational quantifiers for two quasi-Werner states composed of two bipartite superposed coherent s…
We evaluate the information capacities of a lossy bosonic channel with correlated noise. The model generalizes the one recently discussed in [Phys. Rev. A 77, 052324 (2008)], where memory effects come from the interaction with correlated environments. Environmental correlations are quantified by a multimode squeezing parameter, which vanishes in the memoryless limit. We show that a global encoding/decoding scheme, which involves input entangled states among different channel uses, is always preferable with respect to a local one in the presence of memory. Moreover, in a certain range of the pa…
The aim of this thesis is to develop a theoretical framework to study parameter estimation of quantum channels. We study the task of estimating unknown parameters encoded in a channel in the sequential setting. A sequential strategy is the most general way to use a channel multiple times. Our goal is to establish lower bounds (called Cramer-Rao bounds) on the estimation error. The bounds we develop are universally applicable; i.e., they apply to all permissible quantum dynamics. We consider the use of catalysts to enhance the power of a channel estimation strategy. This is termed amortization.…
A scheme for suppressing the correlated noise in signals transmitted over the bosonic Gaussian memory channels is proposed. This is a compromise solution rather than removing the noise completely. The scheme is based on linear optical elements, two $N$-port splitters and $N$ number of phase flips. The proposed scheme has the advantages that the correlated noise of the memory channels are greatly suppressed, and the input signal states can be protected excellently when transmitting over the noise channels. We examine the suppressing efficiency of the scheme for the correlated noise, both from q…
Quantum-correlated photon sources provide a means of suppressing multiple photon emission and thus improving the security and efficiency of quasi single-photon quantum key distribution systems. We present illustrative photon-counting statistics for a Poissonian source conditioned by photon number measurements on a fully correlated twin beam with a non-ideal photon counter. We show that high photon counting efficiency is needed to obtain significant improvement in channel efficiency (bits per symbol) and/or security (in the form of reduced Shannon entropy leakage) over a single beam source.
We provide a model to study memory effects in quantum Gaussian channels with additive classical noise over an arbitrary number of uses. The correlation among different uses is introduced by contiguous two-mode interactions. Numerical results for few modes are presented. They confirm the possibility to enhance the classical information rate with the aid of entangled inputs, and show a likely asymptotic behavior that should lead to the full capacity of the channel.
Based on the quantum technique of weak measurement, we propose a scheme to protect the entanglement from correlated amplitude damping decoherence. In contrast to the results of memoryless amplitude damping channel, we show that the memory effects play a significant role in the suppression of entanglement sudden death and protection of entanglement under severe decoherence. Moreover, we find that the initial entanglement could be drastically amplified by the combination of weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal even under the correlated amplitude damping channel. The underlying mecha…
The notion of low-noise channels was recently proposed and analyzed in detail in order to describe noise-processes driven by environment [M. Hotta, T. Karasawa and M. Ozawa, Phys. Rev. A72, 052334 (2005)]. An estimation theory of low-noise parameters of channels has also been developed. In this report, we address the low-noise parameter estimation problem for the $N$-body extension of low-noise channels. We perturbatively calculate the Fisher information of the output states in order to evaluate the lower-bound of the mean-square error of the parameter estimation. We show that the maximum of t…
We study the capacity of a quantum channel where channel acts like controlled phase gate with the control being provided by a one-dimensional quantum spin chain environment. Due to the correlations in the spin chain, we get a quantum channel with memory. We derive formulas for the quantum capacity of this channel when the spin state is a matrix product state. Particularly, we derive exact formulas for the capacity of the quantum memory channel when the environment state is the ground state of the AKLT model and the Majumdar-Ghosh model. We find that the behavior of the capacity for the range o…
In estimating an unknown parameter of a quantum state the quantum Fisher information (QFI) is a pivotal quantity, which depends on the state and its derivate with respect to the unknown parameter. We prove the continuity property for the QFI in the sense that two close states with close first derivatives have close QFIs. This property is completely general and irrespective of dynamics or how states acquire their parameter dependence and also the form of parameter dependence---indeed this continuity is basically a feature of the classical Fisher information that in the case of the QFI naturally…

We prove an extended convexity for quantum Fisher information of a mixed state with a given convex decomposition. This convexity introduces a bound which has two parts: i. classical part associated to the Fisher information of the probability distribution of the states contributing to the decomposition, and ii. quantum part given by the average quantum Fisher information of the states in this decomposition. Next we use a non-Hermitian extension of symmetric logarithmic derivative in order to obtain another upper bound on quantum Fisher information, which enables to derive a closed form for a f…
Entanglement and entanglement-assisted are useful resources to enhance the mutual information of the Pauli channels, when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. In this Paper, we study quantum-communication channels in $d$-dimensional systems and derive the mutual information of the quantum channels for maximally entangled states and product states coding with correlated noise. Then, we compare fidelity between these states. Our results show that there exists a certain fidelity memory threshold which depends on the dimension of the Hilbert space $(d)$ and t…
