Internet of Things (IoT) is an Internet-based environment of connected devices and applications. IoT creates an environment where physical devices and sensors are flawlessly combined into information nodes to deliver innovative and smart services for human-being to make their life easier and more efficient. The main objective of the IoT devices-network is to generate data, which are converted into useful information by the data analysis process, it also provides useful resources to the end users. IoT resource management is a key challenge to ensure the quality of end user experience. Many IoT smart devices and technologies like sensors, actuators, RFID, UMTS, 3G, and GSM etc. are used to develop IoT networks. Cloud Computing plays an important role in these networks deployment by providing physical resources as virtualized resources consist of memory, computation power, network bandwidth, virtualized system and device drivers in secure and pay as per use basis. One of the major concerns of Cloud-based IoT environment is resource management, which ensures efficient resource utilization, load balancing, reduce SLA violation, and improve the system performance by reducing operational cost and energy consumption. Many researchers have been proposed IoT based resource management techniques. The focus of this paper is to investigate these proposed resource allocation techniques and finds which parameters must be considered for improvement in resource allocation for IoT networks. Further, this paper also uncovered challenges and issues of Cloud-based resource allocation for IoT environment.

A Home Area Network (HAN) is considered to be a significant component of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and has been studied well in many works. It binds all the electrical components installed in a defined premise together for their close monitoring and management. However, HAN has been realized so far mostly as a centralized system. Therefore, like any other centralized system, the traditional realization of HAN also suffers from various well-known problems, such as single-point-of-failure, susceptibility to attacks, requirement of specialized infrastructure, inflexibility to easy ex…
While the management of heterogeneous network devices is usually solved by protocols like SNMP and NETCONF, there is still no such accepted solution for the management of heterogeneous IoT devices. To avoid the vendor lock-in, several organizations like the IETF, W3C and ETSI are working on standards with a semantic-based approach. While the semantic approach seems to be appealing to solve the interoperability problem, there is still the question whether this approach is suited for constrained IoT devices. Herein, we present the evaluation of the MYNO, a semantic-based framework. MYNO is based…

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in incorporating blockchain for the Internet of Things (IoT) to address the inherent issues of IoT, such as single point of failure and data silos. However, blockchain alone cannot ascertain the authenticity and veracity of the data coming from IoT devices. The append-only nature of blockchain exacerbates this issue, as it would not be possible to alter the data once recorded on-chain. Trust and Reputation Management (TRM) is an effective approach to overcome the aforementioned trust issues. However, designing TRM frameworks for blockchain…
Excessive tail end-to-end latency occurs with conventional message brokers as a result of having massive numbers of geographically distributed devices communicate through a message broker.
