In this study we present a unified phenomenological analysis of the scalar glueball and scalar meson spectra within an AdS/QCD framework in the bottom up approach. For this purpose we generalize the recently developed graviton soft-wall (GSW) model, which has shown an excellent agreement with the lattice QCD glueball spectrum, to a description of glueballs and mesons with a unique energy scale. In this scheme, dilatonic effects, are incorporated in the metric as a deformation of the AdS space. We apply the model also to the heavy meson spectra with success. We obtain quadratic mass equations for all scalar mesons while the glueballs satisfy an almost linear mass equation. Besides their spectra, we also discuss the mixing of scalar glueball and light scalar meson states within a unified framework: the GSW model. To this aim, the light-front holographic approach, which connects the mode functions of AdS/QCD to the light-front wave functions, is applied. This relation provides the probabilistic interpretation required to properly investigate the mixing conditions.
The holographic graviton soft-wall model, introduced to describe the spectrum of scalar and tensor glueballs, is improved to incorporate the realization of chiral-symmetry as in QCD. Such a goal is achieved by including the longitudinal dynamics of QCD into the scheme. Using the relation between AdS/QCD and Light-Front dynamics, we construct the appropriate wave function for the pion which is used to calculate several pion observables. The comparison of our results with phenomenology is remarkably successful.
In this contribution we present results of the calculations of several hadronic spectra within the holographic graviton soft-wall (GSW) model. In particular, we studied and compared with data for the ground state and excitations of: glueballs, scalar, vector, axial and pseudo-scalar mesons. The GSW model is found to be capable to describe these observable with only few parameters.
Theories with compact extra spatial dimensions felt only by gravity are subject to direct experimental tests if the compactification volume is large. Estimates of high-energy collider observables induced by graviton radiation into extra dimensions are usually given assuming rigid branes. This may overestimate the accessibility of these theories. Brane fluctuations soften the coupling of graviton radiation, and reduce our ability to see effects in high-energy collisions. We calculate the size of this suppression on single jet plus gravitons at the LHC and single photon plus gravitons at an e+e-…
The graviton soft wall model (GSW) provides a unified description of the scalar glueball and meson spectra with a unique energy scale. This success has led us to extend the analysis to the description of the spectra of other hadrons. We use this model to calculate masses of the odd and even ground states of glueballs for various spins, and show that the GSW model is able to reproduce the Regge trajectory of these systems. In addition, the spectra of the $ρ$, $a_1$ and the $η$ mesons will be addressed. Results are in excellent agreement with current experimental data.Furthermore such an achieve…
Recently, new soft graviton theorem proposed by Cachazo and Strominger has inspired a lot of works. In this note, we use the KLT-formula to investigate the theorem. We have shown how the soft behavior of color ordered Yang-Mills amplitudes can be combined with KLT relation to give the soft behavior of gravity amplitudes. As a byproduct, we find two nontrivial identities of the KLT momentum kernel must hold.
We apply recently developed path integral resummation methods to perturbative quantum gravity. In particular, we provide supporting evidence that eikonal graviton amplitudes factorize into hard and soft parts, and confirm a recent hypothesis that soft gravitons are modelled by vacuum expectation values of products of certain Wilson line operators, which differ for massless and massive particles. We also investigate terms which break this factorization, and find that they are subleading with respect to the eikonal amplitude. The results may help in understanding the connections between gravity …
We show that at tree level, on-shell gauge invariance can be used to fully determine the first subleading soft-gluon behavior and the first two subleading soft-graviton behaviors. Our proofs of the behaviors for n-gluon and n-graviton tree amplitudes are valid in D dimensions and are similar to Low's proof of universality of the first subleading behavior of photons. In contrast to photons coupling to massive particles, in four dimensions the soft behaviors of gluons and gravitons are corrected by loop effects. We comment on how such corrections arise from this perspective. We also show that lo…
We show that the form of the recently proposed subleading soft graviton and gluon theorems in any dimension are severely constrained by elementary arguments based on Poincaré and gauge invariance as well as a self-consistency condition arising from the distributional nature of scattering amplitudes. Combined with the assumption of a local form as it would arise from a Ward identity the orbital part of the subleading operators is completely fixed by the leading universal Weinberg soft pole behavior. The polarization part of the differential subleading soft operators in turn is determined up to …
The study of gluon radiation in QCD, in the limit of small ("soft") momentum, remains an active research area, with a variety of phenomenological and theoretical applications. Soft gluon emission leads to large logarithms in perturbation theory which have to be summed up to all orders in the coupling, and also governs the structure of infrared singularities. Recently, new techniques and mathematical structures have been discovered, which enhance our understanding of these all-order properties. This contribution will review a number of key topics, including the relationship between QCD and grav…
Asymptotic symmetries of theories with gravity in d=2m+2 spacetime dimensions are reconsidered for m>1 in light of recent results concerning d=4 BMS symmetries. Weinberg's soft graviton theorem in 2m+2 dimensions is re-expressed as a Ward identity for the gravitational S-matrix. The corresponding asymptotic symmetries are identified with 2m+2-dimensional supertranslations. An alternate derivation of these asymptotic symmetries as diffeomorphisms which preserve finite-energy boundary conditions at null infinity and act non-trivially on physical data is given. Our results differ from those of pr…
We study QCD effects in single graviton production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the Randall-Sundrum (RS) Model. We present in detail the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the inclusive total cross sections. The NLO QCD corrections enhance significantly the total cross sections and decrease efficiently the dependence of the total cross sections on the factorization and renormalization scales. We also examine the uncertainty of the total cross sections due to the parton distribution function (PDF) uncertainties. For the differential cross sections on the trans…

The subleading corrections to factorization theorems for soft bremsstrahlung in nonabelian gauge theories and gravity are investigated in the case of a five point amplitude with four scalars. Building on recent results, we write the action of the angular momentum operators on scattering amplitudes as derivatives with respect to the Mandelstam invariants to uncover a double copy structure in the contribution of the soft graviton to the amplitude, both in the leading term and the first correction. Using our approach, we study Gribov's theorem as extended to nonabelian gauge theories and gravity …
We study all translationally and rotationally invariant local theories involving massless spin 2 and spin 1 particles that mediate long range forces, allowing for general energy relations and violation of boost invariance. Although gauge invariance is not a priori required to describe non Lorentz invariant theories, we first establish that locality requires `soft gauge invariance'. Then by taking the soft graviton limit in scattering amplitudes, we prove that in addition to the usual requirement of universal graviton couplings, the special relativistic energy-momentum relation is also required…
We revisit the proposal that the resolution of the Cosmological Constant Problem involves a sub-millimeter breakdown of the point-particle approximation for gravitons. No fundamental description of such a breakdown, which simultaneously preserves the point-particle nature of matter particles, is yet known. However, basic aspects of the self-consistency of the idea, such as preservation of the macroscopic Equivalence Principle while satisfying quantum naturalness of the cosmological constant, are addressed in this paper within a Soft Graviton Effective Theory. It builds on Weinberg's analysis o…
Cachazo and Strominger recently proposed an extension of the soft-graviton theorem found by Weinberg. In addition, they proved the validity of their extension at tree level. This was motivated by a Virasoro symmetry of the gravity S-matrix related to BMS symmetry. As shown long ago by Weinberg, the leading behavior is not corrected by loops. In contrast, we show that with the standard definition of soft limits in dimensional regularization, the subleading behavior is anomalous and modified by loop effects. We argue that there are no new types of corrections to the first subleading behavior bey…
We show that the soft photon, gluon and graviton theorems can be understood as the Ward-Takahashi identities of large gauge transformation, i.e., diffeomorphism that does not fall off at spatial infinity. We found infinitely many new identities which constrain the higher order soft behavior of the gauge bosons and gravitons in scattering amplitudes of gauge and gravity theories. Diagrammatic representations of these soft theorems are presented.
In the report, the theory of unimodular bimode gravity built on principles of unimodular gauge invariance/relativity and general covariance is exposed. Besides the massless tensor graviton of General Relativity, the theory includes an (almost) massless scalar graviton treated as the gravitational dark matter. A spherically symmetric vacuum solution, describing the coherent scalar-graviton field for the soft-core dark halos with the asymptotically flat rotation curves, is demonstrated.
We present a study of electroexcitation of nucleon resonances with higher spins, in a soft-wall AdS/QCD model, comparing our results with existing data from the CLAS Collaboration at JLab, from MAMI, and other experiments.
We derive a light-front Schrodinger-type equation of motion for the quark-antiquark wave function of heavy quarkonia imposing constraints from the holographic soft-wall model.
We argue that flat space amplitudes for the process $ 2 \to n$ gravitons at center of mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ much less than the Planck scale, will coincide approximately with amplitudes calculated from correlators of a boundary CFT for AdS space of radius $R\gg L_P$, only when $n < R/L_P$ . For larger values of $n$ in AdS space, insisting that all the incoming energy enters "the arena" [arXiv:hep-th/9901079], implies the production of black holes, whereas there is no black hole production in the flat space amplitudes. We also argue, from unitarity, that flat space amplitudes for all $n$ are …
We investigate the transverse charge densities of the deuteron in a soft-wall AdS/QCD model by considering both the unpolarized and the transversely polarized cases. The deuteron form factors are derived from the soft-wall AdS/QCD model and it is shown that the calculated results agree with the phenomenological parametrization and experimental data. The transverse charge densities of the deuteron are also derived from the soft-wall AdS/QCD model, and we notice slight deviations from those of the phenomenological parametrization.
In this paper we describe qualitatively some aspects of the holographic QCD. Inspired by a successfull 4D description, we try to separate the Confinement and the Chiral Symmetry Breaking dynamics. We also discuss the realization of the baryons as skyrmions in Soft Wall Holographic QCD, and the issue of the Vector Meson Dominance.
We study the mass spectrum and decay constants of light and heavy mesons in a soft-wall holographic approach, using the correspondence of string theory in Anti-de Sitter space and conformal field theory in physical space-time.
We discuss the vertex function of two vector and one axial-vector operators in the soft-wall holographic model of QCD. When one of the two vector currents represents an on-shell soft photon, such a vertex is described by two structure functions $w_L$ and $w_T$, which are usually calculated through triangular loop diagrams. We evaluate these functions in the soft-wall model of holographic QCD (HQCD) and compare the outcome to the QCD findings.
We propose a modification of soft-wall holographic model that in combination with the light-front holographic QCD leads to a broad hydrogen-like degeneracy of the same sort as the degeneracy observed experimentally in the spectrum of light mesons.
We adopted the form of v.e.v. of the bulk scalar field proposed by P.Zhang in this paper, and changed the dilaton background from $e^{-κ^2z^2}$ to $e^{-κ^2z^2+αz}$ accordingly. The calculation shows that, as if we choose proper parameters, we can get a better result than both the present soft-wall models and the hard-wall model while keeping Regge behavior unchanged.
We present a study of the $N^*(1535)$ resonance electroexcitation in a soft-wall AdS/QCD model. Both the transverse $A_{1/2}^p$ and longitudinal $S_{1/2}^p$ helicity amplitudes are calculated resulting in good agreement with data and with the MAID parametrization.
We study further the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with a cubic potential for the bulk scalar. We analyze the spectra of pseudoscalar, scalar, vector and axial-vector mesons. We also study the spin-1/2 nucleon spectrum and the pion-nucleon coupling. All of them have a good agreement with the experimental data.
Holographic soft-wall model is successful in the phenomenology of hadrons. Here with the use of generalized parton distributions (GPDs) obtained from AdS/QCD, perturbative effects are entered into the formalism. Perturbations are incorporated in the formalism through the evolution of GPDs according to the DGLAP like equations. Evolved proton GPDs are compared with a phenomenological model to show that we can get good improvements of the holographic model. It seems that combining the holographic soft-wall model with perturbative effects to some extent, gives the correct physics of GPDs.
The holographic approach to double diffractive Higgs production is presented for the AdS graviton/Pomeron. The goal is to provide a predictive phenomenology for the strong coupling expansion of QCD. This is the first step to set up the framework for the double diffractive Higgs production in anticipation of experimental observations at the LHC. Comparisons are made with the weak coupling approach based on the BFKL Pomeron models and soft Regge parameterizations.
In this paper a model incorporating chiral symmetry breaking and dynamical soft-wall AdS/QCD is established. The AdS/QCD background is introduced dynamically as suggested by Wayne de Paula etc al and chiral symmetry breaking is discussed by using a bulk scalar field including a cubic term. The mass spectrum of scalar, vector and axial vector mesons are obtained and a comparison with experimental data is presented.
The purpose of this paper is to further study the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with constrained IR background. By including a quartic bulk scalar potential we study various meson and nucleon spectra. This model naturally realizes the asymptotical linearity of these mass spectra simultaneously, together with correctly pattern of explicit and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking. The agreement between the theoretical calculations and the experimental data is good.
We discuss a holographic soft-wall model developed for the description of mesons and baryons with adjustable quantum numbers n, J, L, S. This approach is based on an action which describes hadrons with broken conformal invariance and which incorporates confinement through the presence of a background dilaton field.
Five dimensional warped spaces with soft walls are generalizations of the standard Randall-Sundrum compactifications, where instead of an infrared brane one has a curvature singularity (with vanishing warp factor) at finite proper distance in the bulk. We project the physics near the singularity onto a hypersurface located a small distance away from it in the bulk. This results in a completely equivalent description of the soft wall in terms of an effective infrared brane, hiding any singular point. We perform explicitly this calculation for two classes of soft wall backgrounds used in the lit…
We study the vertex function of two vector and one axial-vector operators in the soft-wall holographic model of QCD. In particular, we discuss the possible relation, introduced by Son and Yamamoto, between the structure function $w_T$ describing such a vertex when one of the two vector currents represents an on-shell soft photon and the the two-point $Π_\perp^{VV}-Π_\perp^{AA}$ correlation function.
We study the helicity-independent generalized parton distributions of nucleons in the zero skewness case, based on a particular light-front quark model derived in a soft-wall AdS/QCD approach.
We elaborate on the existence of a spurious massless scalar mode in the vector channel of soft-wall models with incorrectly chosen sign of the exponential profile defining the wall. We re-iterate the point made in our earlier paper and demonstrate that the presence of the mode is robust, depending only on the infra-red asymptotics of the wall. We also re-emphasize that desired confinement properties can be realized with the correct sign choice.
We explore the possibility of modeling electroweak physics in a warped extra dimension with a soft wall. The infrared boundary is replaced with a smoothly varying dilaton field that provides a dynamical spacetime cutoff. We analyze gravity, gauge fields, and fermions in the soft-wall background and obtain a discrete spectrum of Kaluza-Klein states which can exhibit linear Regge-like behavior. Bulk Yukawa interactions give rise to nonconstant fermion mass terms, leading to fermion localization in the soft-wall background and a possible explanation of the Standard Model flavor structure. Further…
We calculate the structure functions for unpolarized deep inelastic scattering of baryons using an AdS/QCD soft wall model that considers a dressed mass for the bulk fermionic fields. Considering the regime of large Bjorken parameter x, we compare the results for the proton structure function $F_2$ with experimental results.
The holographic methods inspired by the gauge/gravity correspondence from string theory have been actively applied to the hadron spectroscopy in the last eleven years. Within the phenomenological bottom-up approach, the linear Regge-like trajectories for light mesons are naturally reproduced in the so-called "Soft-wall" holographic models. I will give a very short review of the underlying ideas and technical aspects related to the meson spectroscopy. A generalization of soft-wall description of Regge trajectories to arbitrary intercept is proposed. The problem of incorporation of the chiral sy…
We show that it is possible to create an RS soft-wall model, a model with a compact extra dimension, without using fundamental branes. All that is required are bulk scalar fields minimally coupled to gravity. Of crucial importance is the stability of the size of the extra dimension. Without branes, one cannot easily implement the Goldberger-Wise mechanism, and instead it must be shown that the scalar configuration is stable in its own right. We use the superpotential approach for generating solutions, the so called 'fake supergravity' scenario, and show that configurations generated in such a …
We critically analyse the nature of the infrared singularity in Randall-Sundrum soft-wall models, where the extra dimension is dynamically compactified by the formation of a curvature singularity. Due to the Israel junction conditions, this singularity can only be shielded by a time-independent black-hole horizon if there is ghost matter on the UV brane. For this construction the spectrum of 4D states is shown to be similar to the original soft-wall case. We point out, however, that no such shielding is needed, as the singularity satisfies unitary boundary conditions.
We apply the soft wall holographic model from hadron physics to a description of the high-$T_c$ superconductivity. In comparison with the existing bottom-up holographic superconductors, the proposed approach is more phenomenological. On the other hand, it is much simpler and has more freedom for fitting the conductivity properties of the real high-$T_c$ materials. We demonstrate some examples of emerging models and discuss a possible origin of the approach.
