We elaborate on the existence of a spurious massless scalar mode in the vector channel of soft-wall models with incorrectly chosen sign of the exponential profile defining the wall. We re-iterate the point made in our earlier paper and demonstrate that the presence of the mode is robust, depending only on the infra-red asymptotics of the wall. We also re-emphasize that desired confinement properties can be realized with the correct sign choice.
We study the properties of the dilaton in a soft-wall background using two solutions of the Einstein equations. These solutions contain an asymptotically AdS metric with a nontrivial scalar profile that causes both the spontaneous breaking of conformal invariance and the generation of a mass gap in the particle spectrum. We first present an analytic solution, using the superpotential method, that describes a CFT spontaneously broken by a finite dimensional operator in which a light dilaton mode appears in the spectrum. This represents a tuning in the vanishing of the quartic coupling in the ef…
We study soft wall models that can embed the Standard Model and a naturally light dilaton. Exploiting the full capabilities of these models we identify the parameter space that allows to pass Electroweak Precision Tests with a moderate Kaluza-Klein scale, around $2$ TeV. We analyze the coupling of the dilaton with Standard Model (SM) fields in the bulk, and discuss two applications: i) Models with a light dilaton as the first particle beyond the SM pass quite easily all observational tests even with a dilaton lighter than the Higgs. However the possibility of a 125 GeV dilaton as a Higgs impos…
A generalized dilaton gauge field for the rho meson mass spectrum in the soft-wall AdS/QCD
软壁AdS/QCD框架下的介子谱学是近六年来粒子物理研究的热点之一。本文尝试对K. M. Keita和Y.
A modified version of the usual soft wall quadratic dilaton, a dilaton which catches the variation of the proton mass inside nucleons in the nuclear medium is used. With this dilaton, called nuclear dilaton, we have calculated the electromagnetic form factors and magnetic moments associated with the in-medium proton following the AdS/QCD prescription.
We generalize the soft-wall and hard-wall models to a light-front holographic QCD model with a generic dilaton profile. The effective potential induced by a higher power dilaton profile is interpreted as a stronger color confinement at long distance, and it gradually evolves to the hard-wall model when the power increases to infinity. As an application, we investigate the exotic meson states recently discovered in experiments in the generic soft-wall model with a higher power dilaton profile, and the results are in agreement with the spectra of the exotic mesons. Our calculation indicates a we…
We study the temperature dependence of the $a_1$ meson-nucleon coupling constant in the framework of the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with thermal dilaton field. Profile functions for the axial-vector and fermion fields in the AdS-Schwarzschild metric are presented. It is constructed an interaction Lagrangian for the fermion-axial-vector-thermal dilaton fields system in the bulk of space-time. From this Lagrangian integral representation for the $g_{a_1NN}$ coupling constant is derived. The temperature dependence of this coupling constant is numerically analyzed.
Dynamic AdS/QCD is a modification of AdS/QCD that includes the running of the anomalous dimension of the q-bar q quark bilinear and in which the generation of the constituent quark mass plays the role of an IR wall. The model allows one to move away smoothly from the controlled spectrum of the N=2 super Yang-Mills theory of the D3/probe-D7 system to more QCD-like theories with chiral symmetry breaking. We investigate soft wall behaviour in the model that gives Regge trajectories with M_{n,s}^2 ~ n,s. To achieve these behaviours requires the quark's constituent mass to fall peculiarly sharply i…
We construct an improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model with a cubic coupling term of the dilaton and the bulk scalar field. The background fields in this model are solved from the Einstein-dilaton system with a nontrivial dilaton potential, which has been shown to be able to reproduce the equation of state from lattice QCD with two flavors. The chiral transition behaviors are investigated in the improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model with the solved gravitational background, and the crossover transition can be realized. Our study provides a possibility to address the deconfining and chiral phase transitio…

We investigate nonlinear extensions of the holographic soft wall model proposed by Karch, Katz, Son and Stephanov \cite{Karch:2006pv} with a positive quadratic dilaton. We consider a Higgs potential for the tachyonic field that brings a more natural realisation of chiral symmetry breaking in the infrared regime. Utilising the AdS/CFT dictionary and holographic renormalisation we find the chiral condensate as a function of the quark mass. The nonlinearity of the Higgs potential leads to a nonlinear relation between the chiral condensate and the quark mass. Solving the effective Schrödinger equa…
We consider an AdS/QCD model at finite temperature with a dilaton field that we call thermal because, in addition to depending on the holographic coordinate, it also depends on temperature. We study two thermal dilatons in this work such that at $T=0$ they are reduced to the dilatons used by some authors. With these thermal dilatons it is possible to obtain melting temperatures for mesons close to $180$ MeV and also make predictions for other hadrons. We use a procedure based on the analysis of the holographic potential related to the E.O.M. for modes dual to hadrons to calculate melting tempe…
We consider an analysis of potentials related to Schrödinger-type equations for scalar fields in a 5D AdS black hole background with dilaton in order to get melting temperatures for different hadrons in a thermal bath. The approach does not consider calculations of spectral functions and it is easy to get results for hadrons with an arbitrary number of constituents. We present results for scalar mesons, glueballs, hybrid mesons and tetraquarks, and we show that mesons are more resistant to being melted in a thermal bath than other scalar hadrons, and in general the melting temperature increase…
We investigate the dependence of the $ρ$ meson-nucleon coupling constant on the temperature of the medium using the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD. The finite temperature profile functions for the vector and fermion fields are applied to the model having a thermal dilaton field. The interaction Lagrangian in the bulk between these fields is written as in zero temperature case and includes minimal- and magnetic-type interactions. The temperature dependence of the $g_{ρNN}(T)$ coupling constant and its terms are plotted. We observe that the coupling constant and its separate terms become zero at the…
We analyze light vector and scalar meson mass spectra using a novel approach where a modified soft wall model with a UV-cutoff is considered. Including this cutoff introduces an extra energy scale. For this model, we found that the masses for the scalar and vector spectra are well fitted within a very small RMS error for 14 of these states, with non-linear trajectories given by two common parameters, the UV locus $z_0$ and the quadratic dilaton profile slope $κ$. We concluded that in this model the $f_{0}(500)$ scalar resonance cannot be fitted holographycally as a $q\overline{q}$ state since …
Magnetic effects on chiral phase transition have been investigated in a modified soft-wall AdS/QCD model, in which the dilaton field is taken to be negative at the ultraviolet region and positive at the infrared region as in Phys.Rev.D93(2016),101901 and JHEP1604(2016)036. The magnetic field is introduced into the background geometry by solving the Einstein-Maxwell system. After embedding the magnetized background geometry into the modified soft-wall model, the magnetic field dependent behavior of chiral condensate is worked out numerically. It is found that, in the chiral limit, the chiral ph…
We investigate the chiral phase transition in the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD at zero chemical potential for two-flavor and three-flavor cases, respectively. We show that there is no spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in the original soft-wall model. After detailed analysis, we find that in order to realize chiral symmetry breaking and restoration, both profiles for the scalar potential and the dilaton field are essential. The scalar potential determines the possible solution structure of the chiral condensate, except the mass term, it takes another quartic term for the two-flavor case, and f…
We explicitly demonstrate how to correctly define the hadronic parton distributions (PDFs, TMDs, and GPDs) in the soft-wall AdS/QCD approach, based on the use of a quadratic dilaton field, providing confinement and spontaneous breaking of conformal and chiral symmetries. The power behavior of parton distributions at large values of the light-cone variable is consistent with quark counting rules and Drell-Yan-West duality. All parton distributions are defined in terms of profile functions, which depend on the light-cone coordinate and are fixed from PDFs and electromagnetic form factors.
We analyze here the mass spectrum of light vector and scalar mesons applying a novel approach where a modified soft wall model that includes a UV-cutoff at a finite $z$-position in the AdS space is used, thus introducing an extra energy scale. For this model, we found that the masses for the scalar and vector spectra are well fitted within $δ_{RMS}=7.64\%$ for these states, with non-linear trajectories given by two common parameters, the UV locus $z_{0}$ and the quadratic dilaton profile slope $κ$. We also conclude that in this model, the $f_{0}(500)$ scalar resonance cannot be fitted holograp…
We consider an improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model coupled to an Einstein-dilaton system, which offers a way to study the deconfining and chiral transitions simultaneously. The correlation between these two transitions has been investigated in detail in the Einstein-dilaton-scalar system with the bulk scalar field representing the vacuum of matters in the flavor sector of the model. We find that the effects of the scaling dimension $Δ$ of the dual operator of the dilaton manifest in chiral transitions, although the equation of state can all be matched with the two-flavor lattice results for $Δ=2.…
We study light pseudoscalar and axial states using a soft wall model that is modified by introducing two extra parameters: an UV-cutoff and an anomalous term in the conformal dimension of the fields involved such that meson fields with different parities are easily distinguishable. We find that 23 of these light mesonic states, including the scalars and vector states analyzed with one of our previous results, are fitted within the RMS error bounds given for this model, whose parameters are given by the quadratic dilaton profile, the UV locus $z_{0}$ and the anomalous term $Δ_{P}$. Our results …
We derive a holographic soft-wall approach in five dimensional AdS-Schwarzschild space for the description of mesons at finite temperature. In this first application we consider the small temperature limit and derive analytical expression for the mass spectrum of mesons with adjustable quantum numbers $n$ (radial number), $L$ (angular orbital momentum) and $J$ (total angular momentum). We explicitly separate the contribution at zero temperature and the leading order temperature correction. The temperature corrections arise from the temperature dependence of the dilaton parameter (which is the …
It is well known that the Soft-Wall holographic model for QCD successfully reproduces not only the linear Regge spectrum, but also, via the holographic Wilson confinement criterion, the ''linear plus Coulomb'' confinement potential similar to the Cornell potential. This property could be interpreted as a holographic counterpart of the hadron string picture, where the linearly rising potential and Regge-like spectrum are directly related. However, such a relation does not take place in the bottom-up holographic approach. Namely, the Cornell-like potentials arise in a broad class of bottom-up ho…
