The present article is the followup of {\color{blue} Eur.\ Phys.\ J.\ C {\bf 79}, 761 (2019)}, where we have studied the energy-loss of the heavy quarks traversing through the isotropic collisional hot QCD medium. Since, the exploration of QCD phase diagram is possible with the upcoming experimental facilities such as Anti-proton and Ion Research (FAIR) and Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility (NICA), at finite baryon density and moderate temperature, the inclusion of finite chemical potential is essential to study the hot QCD/QGP medium. Therefore, the aim is to develop a formalism to study the energy-loss of heavy quarks moving in the interacting collisional hot QCD medium having small but a finite quark chemical potential. To do so, the extended effective fugacity quasi-particle model has been employed \cite{chandra_quasi1, chandra_quasi2, Mitra:2017sjo} while considering the effective kinetic theory approach using the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) collisional kernel. Finally, the momentum dependence of the energy-loss for the charm and bottom quark has been investigated at different values of collisions frequency and chemical potential. It is observed that as compared to charm quark, bottom quark loses less energy at a particular momentum, collisional frequency and chemical potential. Also, the energy-loss is seen to decrease with increasing chemical potential.
The effects of collisional processes in the hot QCD medium to thermal dilepton production from $q\overline{q}$ annihilation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions have been investigated. The non-equilibrium corrections to the momentum distribution function have been estimated within the framework of ensemble-averaged diffusive Vlasov-Boltzmann equation, encoding the effects of collisional processes and turbulent chromo-fields in the medium. The contributions from the $2\rightarrow2$ elastic scattering processes have been quantified for the thermal dilepton production rate. It is seen that the co…
Collisional energy loss of heavy partons (charm and bottom quarks) has been determined within the framework of semi-classical transport theory implying Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) collisional kernel. Hot QCD medium effects have been incorporated while employing a quasi-particle description of the medium in terms of effective gluons, quarks and antiquarks with respective temperature dependent effective fugacities. The momentum dependence of the energy loss for charm and bottom quark has been investigated. It is observed that with the increase in momentum of the heavy quarks, the loss increases …
Collective modes of an anisotropic hot QCD medium have been studied within the semi-classical transport theory employing Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) collisional kernel. The modeling of the isotropic medium is primarily based on a recent quasi-particle description of hot QCD equation of state where the medium effects have been encoded in effective gluon and quark/anti-quark momentum distributions that posses non-trivial energy dispersions. The anisotropic distribution functions are obtained in a straightforward the way by stretching or squeezing the isotropic ones along one of the directions. T…
The impact of momentum anisotropy on the heavy quark transport coefficients due to collisional and radiative processes in the QCD medium has been studied within the ambit of kinetic theory. Anisotropic aspects (momentum) are incorporated into the heavy quark dynamics through the non-equilibrium momentum distribution function of quarks, antiquarks, and gluons. These non-equilibrium distribution functions that encode the physics of momentum anisotropy and turbulent chromo-fields have been obtained by solving the ensemble-averaged diffusive Vlasov-Boltzmann equation. The momentum dependence of he…
We study the heavy quark evolution in a quark-gluon plasma medium within the framework of Langevin equation coupled to a (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic model. We modify the current Langevin algorithm such that apart from quasi-elastic scattering, medium-induced radiative energy loss is incorporated as well by treating gluon radiation as an extra force term. We find a significant effect of gluon radiation on heavy quark energy loss at LHC energies. Our calculation provides a good description of the D meson suppression measured by ALICE experiment, and makes a prediction for B meson supp…
The longitudinal current density induced by the inhomogeneous electric field in the hot magnetized quark-gluon plasma has been investigated and utilized in obtaining the conductivity of the medium. The analysis has been done in the regime where inhomogeneity of the field is small so that the collision effect could be significant. The modeling of the QCD medium is based on a quasiparticle description where the medium effects have been encoded in the effective quarks, antiquarks and gluons. The temperature dependence of the linear longitudinal current density (in terms of the electric field) and…
We present results for the evolution of the momentum distribution of a hard parton traversing a brick of quark-gluon plasma, considering both bremsstrahlung and collisional energy loss. The complete leading order transition rates are included. We find a significant modification of the evolving momentum distribution compared to results obtained by employing an approximate implementation of the collisional energy loss that uses the mean energy loss, together with momentum diffusion.
The partonic energy loss has been calculated taking both the hard and soft contributions for all the $2 \to 2$ processes, revealing the importance of the individual channels. Cancellation of the intermediate separation scale has been exhibited. Subtleties related to the identical final state partons have properly been taken into account. The estimated collisional loss is compared with its radiative counter part. We show that there exists a critical energy ($E_c$) below which the collisional loss is more than its radiative counterpart. In addition, we present closed form formulas for both the c…
It was argued recently that loop corrections to tree-level amplitudes are essential in the discussion of the collisional energy loss of energetic partons in the hot quark gluon plasma: Instead of $dE_{\rm coll}^B/dx \sim α^2 T^2 \ln(ET/m_D^2)$, as first derived by Bjorken (assuming a constant $α$), the mean energy loss actually behaves as $dE_{\rm coll}/dx \sim α(m_D^2)T^2$. Here we calculate, within this resummation-improved framework, the probability distribution functions (`quenching weights') of the collisional energy loss. First results from a Monte Carlo implementation of this probabilis…
We compute the energy loss of heavy quarkonia in high temperature QCD plasmas and investigate the energy loss effects on quarkonium suppression. Based on the effective vertex derived from the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude for quarkonium, the collisional and radiative energy loss are determined by quarkonium-gluon elastic scattering and the associated gluon-bremsstrahlung, respectively. In the energy regime $E<m_Υ^2/T$ the collisional energy loss is dominant over the radiative one, and the total energy loss increases with the plasma temperature and the initial energy of quarkonium. Our numerical ana…
Collective excitations of a hot QCD medium are the main focus of the present article. The analysis is performed within semi-classical transport theory with isotropic and anisotropic momentum distribution functions for the gluonic and quark-antiquark degrees of freedom that constitutes the hot QCD plasma. The isotropic/equilibrium momentum distributions for gluons and quarks are based on a recent quasi-particle description of hot QCD equations of state. The anisotropic distributions are just the extensions of isotropic ones by stretching or squeezing them in one of the directions. The hot QCD m…
By using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method, the hyper-radial Schrodinger equation is analytically solved, in which the real modified potential is employed at finite temperature and baryon chemical potential. The eigenvalue of energy and corresponding wave function are obtained in the isotropic and anisotropic media in hot and dense media. The present results show that the binding energy of nucleon and some heavy baryon decrease strongly in hot medium and decreases slightly with increasing baryon chemical potential. In addition, binding energy for each baryon is more bound in an anisotropic medium in…
We present calculations for the shear viscosity of the hot and dense quark-gluon plasma (QGP) using the partonic scattering cross sections as a function of temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ from the dynamical quasiparticle model (DQPM) that is matched to reproduce the equation of state of the partonic system above the deconfinement temperature $T_c$ from lattice QCD. To this aim we calculate the collisional widths for the partonic degrees of freedom at finite $T$ and $μ_B$ in the time-like sector and conclude that the quasiparticle limit holds sufficiently well. Furthermore, …
We investigate the collective response function and the energy-weighted sums m_k for isovector mode in hot nuclei. The approach is based on the collisional kinetic theory and takes into consideration the temperature and the relaxation effects. Taking into account a connection between the isovector sound mode and the corresponding surface vibrations we have established the A-dependence of the enhancement factor for the isovector sum rule in a good agreement with experimental data. We have shown that the enhancement factor for the "model independent" sum m_1 is only slightly sensitive to the tem…
We have studied the effect of strong magnetic field on the charge and thermal transport properties of hot QCD matter at finite chemical potential. For this purpose, we have calculated the electrical ($σ_{\rm el}$) and thermal ($κ$) conductivities using kinetic theory in the relaxation time approximation, where the interactions are subsumed through the distribution functions within the quasiparticle model at finite temperature, strong magnetic field and finite chemical potential. This study helps to understand the impacts of strong magnetic field and chemical potential on the local equilibrium …
The response of the hot QCD medium in the presence of external time dependent electromagnetic fields has been studied within the relativistic Boltzmann transport theory. The impact of the time dependence of the electromagnetic fields and collisional aspects of the medium to the induced electric and Hall current densities has been explored. The non-equilibrium momentum distribution of degrees of freedom has been obtained in the presence of space-time varying electromagnetic fields. Further, the analysis has been extended to an anisotropic QCD medium while incorporating the in-medium interaction…
We have investigated the properties of quarkonium states in an anisotropic hot QCD medium by correcting the full Cornell potential, not the Coulomb term alone as usually done in the literature, with a dielectric function from the hard-loop resummed gluon propagator. We have found that in-medium modification in anisotropic medium causes less screening than in isotropic medium. In the short distance limit, potential does not show any medium dependence whereas in the long-distance limit, it reduces to the Coulomb potential with a dynamically screened color charge. In addition, anisotropy in momen…
We study the dynamics of energy loss and flow of heavy quarks produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions within the framework of a Langevin equation coupled to a (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic model that simulates the space-time evolution of the produced hot and dense QCD matter. The classical Langevin approach is improved such that, apart from quasi-elastic scatterings, radiative energy loss is incorporated by treating gluon radiation as an additional force term. The hadronization of emitted heavy quarks is simulated via a hybrid fragmentation plus recombination model. Our ca…
We investigate the collective response function and the energy-weighted sums (EWS) $m_k$ for isovector mode in hot nuclei. The approach is based on the collisional kinetic theory and takes into consideration the temperature and the relaxation effects. We have evaluated the temperature dependence of the adiabatic, $E_1=\sqrt{m_1/m_{-1}}$, and scaling, $E_3=\sqrt{m_3/m_1}$, energy centroids of the isovector giant dipole resonances (IVGDR). The centroid energy $E_3$ is significantly influenced by the Fermi surface distortion effects and, in contrast to the isoscalar mode, shows much weaker variat…
The change in the energy of the moving heavy (charm and bottom) quarks due to field fluctuations present in the hot QCD medium has been studied. A finite quark chemical potential has been considered while modeling the hot QCD medium counting the fact that the upcoming experimental facilities such as Anti-proton and Ion Research (FAIR) and Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility (NICA) are expected to operate at finite baryon density and moderate temperature. The effective kinetic theory approach has been adopted where the collisions have been incorporated using the well defined collisional kerne…
The present investigation involves explorations on the chromo-dielectric properties of the hot QCD medium produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions in terms of refractive index. The isotropic/equilibrium modelling is done within an effective quasi-particle model of hot QCD medium. The possibilities of negative refraction in the medium are also explored in terms of the Depine-Lakhtakia index. The anisotropic aspects of the hot QCD medium are incorporated by introducing the anisotropy in a particular direction. That makes the medium quite similar to uniaxial crystals, and hence we observe ph…
We study heavy flavor evolution and hadronization in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The in-medium evolution of heavy quarks is described using our modified Langevin framework that incorporates both collisional and radiative energy loss mechanisms. The subsequent hadronization process for heavy quarks is calculated with a fragmentation plus recombination model. We find significant contribution from gluon radiation to heavy quark energy loss at high $p_T$; the recombination mechanism can greatly enhance D meson production at medium $p_T$. Our calculation provides a good description of D meso…
We study the properties of charmonium states at finite temperature in quenched lattice QCD on large and fine isotropic lattices. We perform a detailed analysis of charmonium correlation and spectral functions both below and above Tc. Our analysis suggests that the S wave states disappear at about 1.5 Tc. The charm diffusion coefficient is estimated and found to be approximately 1/πT at 1.5Tc {\leq} T {\leq} 3Tc.
We present results for collisional energy loss and momentum broadening of high momentum partons in a hot and dense non-Abelian plasma obtained by solving the coupled system of Yang-Mills-Wong equations on a lattice in real time. Including hard elastic collisions among the particles we obtain cutoff independent results for the collisional energy loss dE/dx and the transport coefficient q-hat. The latter is found to receive a sizable contribution from a power-law tail in the transverse momentum distribution of high-momentum partons. We further argue that the effect of instabilities on jet broade…
