We construct black hole geometries in AdS$_3$ with non-trivial values of KdV charges. The black holes are holographically dual to quantum KdV Generalized Gibbs Ensemble in 2d CFT. They satisfy thermodynamic identity and thus are saddle point configurations of the Euclidean gravity path integral. We discuss holographic calculation of the KdV generalized partition function and show that for a certain value of chemical potentials new geometries, not the conventional BTZ ones, are the leading saddles.
The thermodynamic properties of the Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole endowed with Korteweg-de Vries (KdV)-type boundary conditions are considered. This familiy of boundary conditions for General Relativity on AdS$_{3}$ is labeled by a non-negative integer $n$, and gives rise to a dual theory which possesses anisotropic Lifshitz scaling invariance with dynamical exponent $z=2n+1$. We show that from the scale invariance of the action for stationary and circularly symmetric spacetimes, an anisotropic version of the Smarr relation arises, and we prove that it is totally consistent with …
The dynamics of perturbed non-rotating black holes (BHs) can be described in terms of master equations of the wave type with a potential. In the frequency domain, the master equations become time-independent Schrödinger equations with no discrete spectrum. It has been recently shown that these wave equations possess an infinite number of symmetries that correspond to the flow of the infinite hierarchy of Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equations. As a consequence, the infinite set of associated conserved quantities, the KdV integrals, are the same for all the different master equations that we can con…
Black hole solutions to the Einstein equations coupled with the Born--Infeld electromagnetism associated with generalized nonlinear electrodynamics, carrying both electric and magnetic charges, often referred to as dyonically charged black holes, of finite energies, are constructed. These solutions give rise to relegated curvature singularities at the center of the matter sources of the black holes and approach the classical Reissner--Nordstrom black hole asymptotically.
We study Hawking radiation of charged fermions from accelerating and rotation black holes with electric and magnetic charges. We calculate the tunneling probabilities of incoming and outgoing fermionic particles and find the Hawking temperature of these black holes. We also provide an explicit expression of the classical action for the massive and massless particles in the background of these black holes.
We study charged massless fermionic perturbations in the background of $4$-dimensional linear dilaton black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with double Liouville-type potentials. We present the analytical fermionic quasinormal modes, whose Dirac equations are solved in terms of hypergeometric functions. We also discuss the stability of these black holes under the charged fermionic perturbations.
We recover the properties of a wide class of far from extremal charged black branes from the properties of near extremal black branes, generalizing the results of Danielsson, Guijosa and Kruczenski.
Thermal radiation of electrically charged fermions from rotating black hole with electric and magnetic charges in de Sitter space is considered. The tunnelling probabilities for outgoing and incoming particles are obtained and the Hawking temperature is calculated. The relation for the classical action for the particles in the black hole's background is also found.
We reconsider over-charging the higher-dimensional nearly extremal charged black holes using the new version of gedanken experiment proposed recently by Sorce and Wald. As a result, we find that cosmic censorship conjecture associated with such black holes is restored by taking into account the second-order correction, albeit violated by the first-order perturbation. Namely, the higher-dimensional nearly extremal charged black holes cannot be over-charged.
We prove the uniqueness of higher dimensional (dilatonic) charged black holes in static and asymptotically flat spacetimes for arbitrary vector-dilaton coupling constant. An application to the uniqueness of a wide class of black p-branes is also given.
The probability of a charged particle production by the electric field of a charged black hole depends essentially on the particle energy. This probability is found in the nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic limits. The range of values for the mass and charge of a black hole is indicated where the discussed mechanism of radiation is dominating over the Hawking one.
We show that there is a class of regular charged black hole with a charged de Sitter core similar to the de Sitter-Schwarzschild black hole. One can show that the total energy momentum tensor for the static and spherically symmetric photon field can be made conserved even the Coulomb like energy momentum tensor for photon is not conserved alone. Possible impact and the numerical solutions of the charged black hole will be shown in this paper.
Similar to the superradiant effect in Reissner-Nordström black hole, a charged scalar field can be amplified when impinging on the charged black hole in string theory. According to the black-hole bomb mechanism, the mass term of the incident field can works as the reflecting mirror, which may trigger the instability of black hole. We study the possible instability triggered by superradiant effect and demonstrate that the charged black hole in string theory is stable against the massive charged scalar perturbation. The reason is that there is no trapping potential well in the black hole exterior…
We study the charged slowly rotating black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell theory in the large dimensions. By using the 1/D expansion in the near region of the black hole we obtain the effective equations for the charged slowly rotating black holes. The effective equations describe the charged black ring, the charged slowly rotating Myers-Perry black hole and the charged slowly boosted black string as stationary solutions. By embedding the solution of the effective equations into the flat spacetime background in the ring coordinate we obtain the charged black ring solution at large D analyticall…
We show that the modified Cardy-Verlinde formula without the Casimir effect term is satisfied by asymptotically flat charged black holes in arbitrary dimensions. Thermodynamic quantities of the charged black holes are shown to satisfy the energy-temperature relation of a two-dimensional CFT, which supports the claim in our previous work (Phys. Rev. D61, 044013, hep-th/9910244) that thermodynamics of charged black holes in higher dimensions can be effectively described by two-dimensional theories. We also check the Cardy formula for the two-dimensional black hole compactified from a dilatonic c…
We study the behavior of the wave function of charged Klein-Gordon field around a charge dilaton black hole. The rate of spontaneous charge loss is estimated for large black hole case.
We construct charged black hole solutions to three-dimensional New Massive Gravity (NMG), by adding electromagnetic Maxwell and Chern-Simons actions. We find charged black holes in the form of warped AdS_3 and "log" solutions in specific critical point. The entropy, mass and angular momentum of these black holes are computed.
In this paper we construct rotating charged hairy black hole in (2+1) dimensions for infinitesimal black hole charge and rotation parameters. Then we consider this black hole as particle accelerator and calculate the center-of-mass energy of two colliding test particles near the rotating charged hairy black hole in (2+1) dimensions. As we expected, the center-of-mass energy has infinite value.
We compute logarithmic corrections to the entropy of a magnetically charged extremal black hole in AdS4 x S7 using the quantum entropy function and discuss the possibility of matching against recently derived microscopic expressions.
The expectation value $\langleφ^2\rangle$ in the Hartle-Hawking vacuum is calculated for minimally-coupled neutral scalar fields at the horizon of a charged dilatonic black hole.
It is shown that three-dimensional charged black holes can approach the extreme state at nonzero temperature. Unlike even dimensional cases, the entropy for the extreme three-dimensional charged black hole is uniquely described by the Bekenstein-Hawking formula, regardless of different treatments of preparing the extreme black hole, namely, Hawking's treatment and Zaslavskii's treatment.
We study the quasinormal modes of the massless scalar field of charged black holes embedded in the Randal-Sundrum brane world using the third order WKB approximation. We consider the effects of the electromagnetic and tidal charges on quasinormal frequencies spectrum for charged black hole black holes as well as the effect of the thickness of the bulk.
Considering electrically charged test particles, we continue our study of the exterior dynamics of a charged Weyl black hole which has been previously investigated regarding the motion of mass-less and (neutral) massive particles. In this paper, the deflecting trajectories of charged particles are designated as being gravitationally Rutherford-scattered and detailed discussions of angular and radial particle motions are presented.
Kerner and Mann's recent work shows that, for an uncharged and non-rotating black hole, its Hawking temperature can be exactly derived by fermions tunnelling from its horizons. In this paper, our main work is to improve the analysis to deal with charged fermion tunnelling from the general dilatonic black holes, specifically including the charged, spherically symmetric dilatonic black hole, the rotating Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) black hole and the rotating Kaluza-Klein (KK) black hole. As a result, the correct Hawking temperatures are well recovered by charged fermions tunnelling fr…
We consider four-dimensional charged black-holes occuring in toroidally compactified heterotic string theory, whose ten-dimensional interpretation involves a Kaluza-Klein monopole and a five-brane. We show that these four-dimensional black-holes can be connected to two-dimensional charged heterotic black-holes upon removal of the constants appearing in the harmonic functions associated with the Kaluza-Klein monopole and the five-brane.
We determine the self-energy for a point charge held stationary in a topologically charged black hole spacetime arising from the Randall-Sundrum II braneworld model, showing that it has two contributions, one of geometric origin and the other of topological one.
Applying the G_{2(2)} generating technique for minimal D=5 supergravity to the Rasheed black hole solution, we present a new rotating charged Kaluza-Klein black hole solution to the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons equations. At infinity, our solution behaves as a four-dimensional flat spacetime with a compact extra dimension and hence describes a Kaluza-Klein black hole. In particlar, the extreme solution is non-supersymmetric, which is contrast to a static case. Our solution has the limits to the asymptotically flat charged rotating black hole solution and a new charged rotatin…
In this paper, gravitational lensing scenario due to the R-charged black hole of five dimensional supergravity investigated. We study the effective potential of traveling photons near the R-charged black hole and find some stable orbits for the photons. We also find that the effect of the black hole charges is increasing of the effective potential. We have shown that photons do not cross the horizon of the very large R-charged black hole. By using the numerical study we find that the black hole charges and non-extremality parameter decrease value of the deflection angle.
We find solution to the metric function f(r)=0 of charged BTZ black hole making use of the Lambert function. The condition of extremal charged BTZ black hole is determined by a non-linear relation of M_e(Q)=Q^2(1-\ln Q^2). Then, we study the entropy of extremal charged BTZ black hole using the entropy function approach. It is shown that this formalism works with a proper normalization of charge Q for charged BTZ black hole because AdS_2 x S^1 represents near-horizon geometry of the extremal charged BTZ black hole. Finally, we introduce the Wald's Noether formalism to reproduce the entropy of t…
We apply the tunneling process of charged massive particles through the quantum horizon of a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole in a new noncommutative gravity scenario. In this model, the tunneling amplitude on account of noncommutativity influences in the context of coordinate coherent states is modified. Our calculation points out that the emission rate satisfies the first law of black hole thermodynamics and is consistent with an underlying unitary theory.
We investigate possible end-points of the superradiant instability for a charged black hole with a reflecting mirror. By considering a fully coupled system of gravity and a charged scalar field, hairy black hole solutions are obtained. The linear stability of these black hole solutions is studied.
A static spherically symmetric black hole usually turns out to be either a Schwarzschild black hole or a Reissner-Nordström black hole. This result was summarised by Ruffini and Wheeler as the so-called no hair conjecture which states that for a spherically symmetric black hole only the information about mass ($M$) and electric charge ($e$) of the black hole is available for an external observer. In this work, we calculate the emission rate of charged particles from an asymptotically flat charged spherically symmetric black hole endowed with a scalar hair using a semi-classical tunneling forma…
We find a new charged black hole in three-dimensional anti-de Sitter space using an anisotropic perfect fluid inspired by the noncommutative black hole as the source of matter and a gaussian distribution of electric charge. We deduce the thermodynamical quantities of this black hole and compare them with those of a charged BTZ solution.
We study the quantum tunneling of scalars from charged accelerating and rotating black hole with NUT parameter. For this purpose we use the charged Klein-Gordon equation. We apply WKB approximation and the Hamilton-Jacobi method to solve charged the Klein-Gordon equation. We find the tunneling probability of outgoing charged scalars from the event horizon of this black hole, and hence the Hawking temperature for this black hole.
We investigate the weak cosmic censorship conjecture in charged anti-de Sitter black holes with thermodynamic pressure and volume by the scattering of the charged scalar field in four and higher dimensions. We assume that the internal energy and electric charge of the black hole changes infinitesimally according to the energy and charge fluxes of the scalar field. Then, found to be an isobaric process, the changes in the black hole can be well reproduced to the first law of thermodynamics, although we find that the second law of thermodynamics is violated in extremal and near-extremal black ho…
We construct exact static, axisymmetric solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity presenting distorted charged dilaton black holes. The thermodynamics of such distorted black holes is also discussed.
We obtain non-extremal charged rotating black holes in six-dimensional SU(2) gauged supergravity with two independent angular momenta and one U(1) charge. These include supersymmetric black holes without naked closed timelike curves.
We obtain charged rotating black hole solutions to the theory of Einstein-Maxwell gravity with cosmological constant in five dimensions. Some of the physical properties of these black holes are discussed.
Using "complexity=action" proposal we study the late time growth rate of holographic complexity for nonlinear charged Lifshitz black hole with a single horizon or two horizons. As a toy model, we consider two kinds of such black holes: nonlinear charged Lifshitz black hole and nonlinear logarithmic charged Lifshitz black hole. We find that for the black hole with two horizons, the action growth bound is satisfied. But for the black hole with a single horizon, whether the Lloyd bound is violated depends on the specific value of dimensionless coupling constants $β_{1},β_{2}$, spacetime dimension…
In this paper, we investigate the tunneling process of charged massive bosons $W^{\pm }$ (spin-1 particles) from noncommutative charged black holes such as charged RN black holes and charged BTZ black holes. By applying the WKB approximation and by using the Hamilton-Jacobi equation we derive the tunneling rate and the corresponding Hawking temperature for those black holes configuration. Furthermore, we show the quantum gravity effects using the GUP on the Hawking temperature for the noncommutative RN black holes. The tunneling rate shows that the radiation deviates from pure thermality and i…
We present a new class of stationary charged black hole solutions to five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theories. We construct the solutions by utilizing so called the squashing transformation. At infinity, our solutions behave as a four-dimensional flat spacetime plus a `circle' and hence describe a Kaluza-Klein black hole. More precisely, our solutions can be viewed as a charged rotating black hole in a rotating Gross-Perry-Sorkin monopole background with the black hole rotation induced from the background rotation.
In this paper, new electrically charged asymptotically flat black hole solutions are numerically derived in the context of higher derivative gravity. These solutions can be interpreted as generalizations of two different classes of non-charged asymptotically flat spacetimes: Schwarzschild and non-Schwarzschild solutions. Extreme black hole solutions and black holes with negative mass were found.
Recent researches of the novel $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity have attracted great attention. In this paper, we investigate the validity of the weak cosmic censorship conjecture for a novel $4D$ charged EGB black hole with test charged scalar field and test charged particle respectively. For the test charged field scattering process, we find that both extremal and near-extremal black holes cannot be overcharged. For the test charged particle injection, to first order, an extremal black hole cannot be overcharged while a near-extremal $4D$ charged EGB black hole can be destroyed. To s…
We study phase transition between electrically charged Ricci-flat black holes and AdS soliton spacetime of Horowitz and Myers in five dimensions. Boundary topology for both of them is $S^1 \times S^1 \times R^2$. We consider Reissner-Nordstrom black hole and R-charged black holes and find that phase transition of these black holes to AdS soliton spacetime depends on the relative size of two boundary circles. We also perform the stability analysis for these black holes. In order to use the AdS/CFT correspondence, we work in the grand canonical ensemble.
We first observe that for Lifshitz black holes whose only charge is the mass, the resulting Smarr relation is a direct consequence of the Lifshitz Cardy formula. From this observation, we propose to extend the Cardy formula to the case of electrically charged Lifshitz black holes satisfying as well a Smarr relation. The expression of our formula depends on the dynamical exponent, the energy and the charge of the ground state which is played by a magnetically charged soliton obtained through a double Wick rotation. The expression also involves a factor multiplying the chemical potentials which …
In the present work, we search static charged black hole solutions to Hořava-Lifshitz gravity with or without projectability condition. We consider the most general form of action which electromagnetic field couples with Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. With the projectability condition, we find dS-Reissner-Nordstrom black hole solution in Painlevé-Gullstrand type coordinates in the IR region and a de-Sitter space-time solution in the UV region. Without the projectability condition, in the IR region, we find an especial static charged black hole solution.
We study odd dimensional charged equally rotating black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell theory with/without a cosmological constant by using the large D expansion method, where D is a spacetime dimension. Solving the Einstein-Maxwell equations in the 1/D expansion we obtain the large D effective equations for charged equally rotating black holes. The effective equations describe the nonlinear dynamics of charged equally rotating black holes. Especially the perturbation analysis of the effective equations gives analytic formula for quasinormal mode frequencies, and we can show charged equally rot…
We have studied scalar perturbations of charged dilaton black holes in 2+1 dimensions. The black hole considered here is a solution to the low-energy string theory in 2+1 dimensions. The exact decay rates and the grey body factors for the massless minimally coupled scalar is computed for both the charged and the uncharged dilaton black holes. The charged and the uncharged black hole show similar behavior for grey body factors, reflection coefficients and decay rates.
In this paper we show that the entropy of black hole horizon in charged rotating BTZ space-time can be described by the Cardy-Verlinde formula, which is supposed to be an entropy formula of conformal field theory in any dimension.
We investigate the validity of weak cosmic censorship conjecture for electrically charged black holes in the presence of gravity's rainbow under charged particle absorption. The rainbow effect is shown to play an important role when the black hole is modified by a particle carrying energy and electric charge. Remarkably, we prove that the rainbow-charged black hole can be overspun beyond the extremal condition under charged particle absorption. Further, it is demonstrated that the second law of thermodynamics and cosmic censorship conjecture are violated owing to the rainbow effect.
We construct exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton field equations in five dimensions, which describe general configurations of charged and static black holes sitting on a Kaluza-Klein bubble. More specifically we discuss the configurations describing two black holes sitting on a Kaluza-Klein bubble and also the general charged static black Saturn balanced by a Kaluza-Klein bubble. A straightforward extension of the solution generating technique leads to a new solution describing the charged static black Saturn on the Taub-bolt instanton. We compute the conserved charges and investig…
We consider a class of Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theories, in which the dilaton coupling to the Maxwell field is not the usual single exponential function, but one with a stationary point. The theories admit two charged black holes: one is the Reissner-Nordstrøm (RN) black hole and the other has a varying dilaton. For a given charge, the new black hole in the extremal limit has the same AdS$_2\times$Sphere near-horizon geometry as the RN black hole, but it carries larger mass. We then introduce some scalar potentials and obtain exact charged AdS black holes. We also generalize the results to bl…
We have shown that changes occur in a (2+1)-dimensional charged black hole by adding a charged probe. The particle increases the entropy of the black hole and guarantees the second law of thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics is derived from the change in the black hole mass. Using the particle absorption, we test the extremal black hole and find out that the mass of the extremal black hole increases more than the electric charge. Therefore, the outer horizon of the black hole still exists. However, the extremal condition becomes non-extremal.
It is shown that Kerr-Newman black holes can support linear charged scalar fields in their exterior regions. To that end, we solve analytically the Klein-Gordon wave equation for a stationary charged massive scalar field in the background of a near-extremal Kerr-Newman black hole. In particular, we derive a simple analytical formula which describes the physical properties of these stationary bound-state resonances of the charged massive scalar fields in the Kerr-Newman black-hole spacetime.
The fundamental quasinormal resonances of charged Reissner-Nordström black holes due to charged scalar perturbations are derived {\it analytically}. In the WKB regime, $qQ\gg\hbar$, we obtain a simple expression for the fundamental quasinormal resonances: $ω=qQ/r_+-i2πT_{\text{BH}}(n+{1 \over 2})$, where $T_{\text{BH}}$ and $Q$ are the temperature and electric charge of the black hole and $q$ is the electric charge of the field. Remarkably, our results show that the relaxation dynamics of a perturbed Reissner-Nordström black hole may saturate the recently proposed universal relaxation bound.
We consider spherically symmetric and static charged black holes in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell gravities in general $D\ge 5$ dimensions and study their photon spheres and black hole shadows. We show that they all satisfy the sequence of inequalities recently proposed relating a black hole's horizon, photon sphere, shadow and its mass.
In the tunneling framework of Hawking radiation, charged massive particle's tunneling in charged non-rotating TeV-Scale black hole is investigated. To this end, we consider natural cutoffs as a minimal length, a minimal momentum, and a maximal momentum through a generalized uncertainty principle. We focus on the role played by these natural cutoffs on the luminosity of charged non-rotating micro black hole by taking into account the full implications of energy and charge conservation as well as the back- scattered radiation.
