Asymptotically flat vacuum initial data sets from a modified parabolic-hyperbolic formulation of the Einstein vacuum constraint equations

In this paper we continue earlier investigations of evolutionary formulations of the Einstein vacuum constraint equations originally introduced by Rácz. Motivated by the strong evidence from these works that the resulting vacuum initial data sets are generically not asymptotically flat we analyse the asymptotics of the solutions of a modified formulation by a combination of analytical and numerical techniques. We conclude that the vacuum initial data sets generated with this new formulation are generically asymptotically flat.

A note on the gravitational wave energy spectrum of parabolic and hyperbolic encounters

The first calculation of the frequency spectrum of gravitational wave mass quadrupole radiation for binaries on hyperbolic orbits was performed in arXiv:1207.5359. Some shortcomings of their derivation were pointed out, but there are still inaccuracies and supplements that we believe are worthwhile to communicate. In this note we provide a consistent and straightforward exposition of the frequency spectrum in the case of hyperbolic encounters and explicitly determine the parabolic limit, which was not possible with the previous treatments.

On the iterated Crank-Nicolson for hyperbolic and parabolic equations in numerical relativity

The iterated Crank-Nicolson is a predictor-corrector algorithm commonly used in numerical relativity for the solution of both hyperbolic and parabolic partial differential equations. Mixed Hyperbolic - Second-Order Parabolic Formulations of General Relativity

Two new formulations of general relativity are introduced. The first one is a parabolization of the Arnowitt, Deser, Misner (ADM) formulation and is derived by addition of combinations of the constraints and their derivatives to the right-hand-side of the ADM evolution equations. Asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds with small mass

For asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds of dimension $n$ with scalar curvature at least equal to $-n(n-1)$ the conjectured positive mass theorem states that the mass is non-negative, and vanishes only if the manifold is isometric to hyperbolic space. In this paper we study asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds which are also conformally hyperbolic outside a ball of fixed radius, and for which the positive mass theorem holds. The Jang equation and the positive mass theorem in the asymptotically hyperbolic setting

The Ricci flow of asymptotically hyperbolic mass and applications

Transformations of Asymptotically AdS Hyperbolic Initial Data and Associated Geometric Inequalities

We construct transformations which take asymptotically AdS hyperbolic initial data into asymptotically flat initial data, and which preserve relevant physical quantities. This is used to derive geometric inequalities in the asymptotically AdS hyperbolic setting from counterparts in the asymptotically flat realm, whenever a geometrically motivated system of elliptic equations admits a solution. The inequalities treated here relate mass, angular momentum, charge, and horizon area.
