Developing models to fit capacity-rate data in battery systems

Analyzing rate-performance data in battery electrodes is greatly facilitated by access to simple analytical models. Here we describe a number of simple equations for fitting capacity-rate data. These equations output fit parameters, such as the characteristic time, which quantify rate-performance. This characteristic time can be linked to mechanistic effects, such as diffusion and electrical limitations, allowing quantitative analysis.

High Performance Printed AgO-Zn Rechargeable Battery for Flexible Electronics

The rise of flexible electronics calls for cost-effective and scalable batteries with good mechanical and electrochemical performance. In this work, we developed printable, polymer-based AgO-Zn batteries that feature flexibility, rechargeability, high areal capacity, and low impedance. Charge capacity characteristics of a Lithium Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminium Oxide battery show fractional-derivative behavior

Batteries experience capacity offset where available charge depends on the rate at which this charge is drawn. In this work we analyze the capacity offset of a 4.8 A h lithium nickel-cobalt-aluminium oxide battery using an equivalent circuit model of a fractional capacitor in series with a resistor. In this case, the available charge, in theory, becomes infinite in the limit of infinitesimal rate. In-situ Synthesis of Bismuth/Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanocomposites as High Capacity Anode Materials for Mg-ion Battery

Herein, in-situ reduction of bismuth and graphene oxide was performed by a solvothermal method under a nitrogen atmosphere, and the resulting Bi on RGO nanocomposites were used as an anode material for Mg-ion batteries. The nanocomposite of 60% Bi:40% RGO is a beneficial anode material, delivering a discharge capacity as high as 413 and 372 mAh per g at the specific current of 39 mA per g in the 1st and 50th cycles, respectively. A salt water battery with high stability and charging rates made from solution processed conjugated polymers with polar side chains

We report a neutral salt water based battery which uses p-type and n-type solution processed polymer films as the cathode and the anode of the cell. The specific capacity of the electrodes (approximately 30 mAh cm-3) is achieved via formation of bipolarons in both the p-type and n-type polymers. One-step stirring preparation of room temperature liquid metal negative electrode for the lithium-ion battery

As a new type of self-healing material, room-temperature liquid metal (LM) composed of Ga, In and Sn is a promising anode in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). It is difficult to directly prepare an electrode slurry with pure LM. Here, the LM electrode slurry was successfully prepared by simple high-speed stirring method. The LM in the slurry was evenly distributed in the form of liquid particles (average size 100 μm) and no aggregation occurred.
