We study random walks on a $d$-dimensional torus by affine expanding maps whose linear parts commute. Assuming an irrationality condition on their translation parts, we prove that the Haar measure is the unique stationary measure. We deduce that if $K \subset \mathbb{R}^d$ is an attractor of a finite iterated function system of $n\geq 2$ maps of the form $x \mapsto D^{-r_i} x + t_i \ (i=1, \ldots, n)$, where $D$ is an expanding $d\times d$ integer matrix, and is the same for all the maps, and $r_{i} \in\mathbb{N}$, under an irrationality condition on the translation parts $t_i$, almost every point in $K$ (w.r.t. any Bernoulli measure) has an equidistributed orbit under the map $x\mapsto Dx$ (multiplication mod $\mathbb{Z}^{d}$). In the one-dimensional case, this conclusion amounts to normality to base $D$. Thus for example, almost every point in an irrational dilation of the middle-thirds Cantor set is normal to base 3.
A Gevrey symplectic normal form of an analytic and more generally Gevrey smooth Hamiltonian near a Lagrangian invariant torus with a Diophantine vector of rotation is obtained. The normal form implies effective stability of the quasi-periodic motion near the torus.
We study quasi-periodic tori under a normal-internal resonance, possibly with multiple eigenvalues. Two non-degeneracy conditions play a role. The first of these generalizes invertibility of the Floquet matrix and prevents drift of the lower dimensional torus. The second condition involves a Kolmogorov-like variation of the internal frequencies and simultaneously versality of the Floquet matrix unfolding. We focus on the reversible setting, but our results carry over to the Hamiltonian and dissipative contexts.
It is proved that the KAM tori (thus quasi-periodic solutions) are long time stable for infinite dimensional Hamiltonian systems generated by nonlinear wave equation, by constructing a partial normal form of higher order around the KAM torus and showing $p$-tame property persists under KAM iterative procedure and normal form iterative procedure.
We give a proof of the convergence of an algorithm for the construction of lower dimensional elliptic tori in nearly integrable Hamiltonian systems. The existence of such invariant tori is proved by leading the Hamiltonian to a suitable normal form. In particular, we adapt the procedure described in a previous work by Giorgilli and co-workers, where the construction was made so as to be used in the context of the planetary problem. We extend the proof of the convergence to the cases in which the two sets of frequencies, describing the motion along the torus and the transverse oscillations, hav…
In this paper we show how polynomial walks can be used to establish a twisted recurrence for sets of positive density in $\mathbb{Z}^d$. In particular, we prove that if $Γ\leq \operatorname{GL}_d(\mathbb{Z})$ is finitely generated by unipotents and acts irreducibly on $\mathbb{R}^d$, then for any set $B \subset \mathbb{Z}^d$ of positive density, there exists $k \geq 1$ such that for any $v \in k \mathbb{Z}^d$ one can find $γ\in Γ$ with $γv \in B - B$. Our method does not require the linearity of the action, and we prove a twisted recurrence for semigroups of maps from $\mathbb{Z}^d$ to $\mathb…
We consider the classical problem of the continuation of periodic orbits surviving to the breaking of invariant lower dimensional resonant tori in nearly integrable Hamiltonian systems. In particular we extend our previous results (presented in CNSNS, 61:198-224, 2018) for full dimensional resonant tori to lower dimensional ones. We develop a constructive normal form scheme that allows to identify and approximate the periodic orbits which continue to exist after the breaking of the resonant torus. A specific feature of our algorithm consists in the possibility of dealing with degenerate period…
In this paper, we investigate the existence of KAM tori for an infinite dimensional Hamiltonian system with finite number of zero normal frequencies. By constructing a constant quantity we show that, for "most" frequencies in the sense of Lebesgue measure, either if the quantity is zero, there is a KAM tori or if the quantity is not zero, there is no KAM tori in some domain. As application, we show that the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a zero frequency possesses many quasi-periodic solutions.

We reconsider the classical problem of the continuation of degenerate periodic orbits in Hamiltonian systems. In particular we focus on periodic orbits that arise from the breaking of a completely resonant maximal torus. We here propose a suitable normal form construction that allows to identify and approximate the periodic orbits which survive to the breaking of the resonant torus. Our algorithm allows to treat the continuation of approximate orbits which are at leading order degenerate, hence not covered by classical averaging methods. We discuss possible future extensions and applications t…
We study a new type of normal form at a critical point of an analytic Hamiltonian. Under a Bruno condition on the frequency, we prove a convergence statement to the normal form. Using this result, we prove the Herman invariant tori conjecture namely the existence of a positive measure set of invariant tori near the critical point. This paper is an update of the first 2012 proof of the author. The functional analytic arguments have been simplified using Banach functors, minor points have been clarified. We study the problem of conservation of maximal and lower-dimensional invariant tori for analytic convex quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems. In the absence of perturbation the lower-dimensional tori are degenerate, in the sense that the normal frequencies vanish, so that the tori are neither elliptic nor hyperbolic. We show that if the perturbation parameter is small enough, for a large measure subset of any resonant submanifold of the action variable space, under some generic non-degeneracy conditions on the perturbation function, there are lower-dimensional tori which are conserved. They a…
We show that an analytic invariant torus $\cT_0$ with Diophantine frequency $ø_0$ is never isolated due to the following alternative. If the Birkhoff normal form of the Hamiltonian at $\cT_0$ satisfies a Rüssmann transversality condition, the torus $\cT_0$ is accumulated by KAM tori of positive total measure. If the Birkhoff normal form is degenerate, there exists a subvariety of dimension at least $d+1$ that is foliated by analytic invariant tori with frequency $ø_0$. For frequency vectors $ø_0$ having a finite uniform Diophantine exponent (this includes a residual set of Liouville vectors), …
This paper is concerned with the stickiness of invariant tori obtained by KAM technics (so-called KAM tori) for higher dimensional beam equation. We prove that the KAM tori are sticky, i.e. the solutions starting in the $δ$-neighborhood of KAM torus still stay close to the KAM torus for a polynomial long time such as $|t|\leq δ^{-\mathcal{M}}$ with any $\mathcal{M}\geq 0$, by constructing a partial normal form of higher order, which satisfies $p$-tame property, around the KAM torus.
We adapt the Kolmogorov's normalization algorithm (which is the key element of the original proof scheme of the KAM theorem) to the construction of a suitable normal form related to an invariant elliptic torus. As a byproduct, our procedure can also provide some analytic expansions of the motions on elliptic tori. By extensively using algebraic manipulations on a computer, we explicitly apply our method to a planar four-body model not too different with respect to the real Sun--Jupiter--Saturn--Uranus system. The frequency analysis method allows us to check that our location of the initial con…
The goal of the article is to show that an n-dimensional complex torus embedded in a complex manifold of dimensional n+d, with a split tangent bundle, has neighborhood biholomorphic a neighborhood of the zero section in its normal bundle, provided the latter has (locally constant) Hermitian transition functions and satisfies a non-resonant Diophantine condition.
