Let $X$ be a CR manifold with transversal, proper CR $G$-action. We show that $X/G$ is a complex space such that the quotient map is a CR map. Moreover the quotient is universal, i.e. every invariant CR map into a complex manifold factorises uniquely over a holomorphic map on $X/G$. We then use this result and complex geometry to proof an embedding theorem for (non-compact) strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds with transversal $G \rtimes S^1$-action. The methods of the proof are applied to obtain a projective embedding theorem for compact CR manifolds.
Let $(X, T^{1,0}X)$ be a compact strongly pseudoconvex CR manifold of dimension $2n+1$. Assume that $X$ admits a Torus action $T^d$. In this work, we study the behavior of torus equivariant Szegő kernels and prove that the weighted torus equivariant Szegő kernels admit asymptotic expansions.
The $k$-Cauchy-Fueter operators and complexes are quaternionic counterparts of the Cauchy-Riemann operator and the Dolbeault complex in the theory of several complex variables. To develop the function theory of several quaternionic variables, we need to solve the non-homogeneous $k$-Cauchy-Fueter equation over a domain under the compatibility condition, which naturally leads to a Neumann problem. The method of solving the $\overline{\partial}$-Neumann problem in the theory of several complex variables is applied to this Neumann problem. We introduce notions of $k$-plurisubharmonic functions an…
A complex filling of a CR manifold is said to be equivariant with respect to a CR action if the action extends to a smooth action by biholomorphisms on the whole filling. Under a noncompactness condition for the action, we describe all equivariant fillings of strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds of dimension 3. Since the standard sphere is the only compact strongly pseudoconvex CR manifold whose automorphism group is not compact, we only have to study its fillings.
Let M of real dimension 2n-1 be a compact, orientable, weakly pseudoconvex manifold of dimension at least five, embedded in C^N (n less than or equal to N), of codimension one or more in C^N, and endowed with the induced CR structure. We show the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator has closed range on such a manifold M, hence we get global existence and regularity results for the \bar\partial_b problem. We also show the middle (i.e. corresponding to (p,q) forms for q between 1 and n-2) \bar\partial_b cohomology groups of M with respect to L^2, Sobolev s, and smooth coefficients are finite and i…
This paper studies complex cobordisms between compact, three dimensional, strictly pseudoconvex Cauchy-Riemann manifolds. Suppose the complex cobordism is given by a complex 2-manifold X with one pseudoconvex and one pseudoconcave end. We answer the following questions. What is the relation between the embeddability of the pseudoconvex end and the embeddability of the pseudoconcave end of X? Do all CR-functions on the pseudoconvex end of X extend to holomorphic functions on the interior of X? We prove that embeddability of a strictly pseudoconvex Cauchy-Riemann 3-manifold is not a complex-cobo…
We prove non-subelliptic estimates for the tangential Cauchy-Riemann system over a weakly "$q$-pseudoconvex" higher codimensional submanifold $M$ of $\C^n$. Let us point out that our hypotheses do not suffice to guarantee subelliptic estimates, in general. Even more: hypoellipticity of the tangential C-R system is not in question (as shows the example by Kohn in case of a Levi-flat hypersurface). However our estimates suffice for existence of smooth solutions to the inhomogeneous C-R equations in certain degree. The main ingredients in our proofs are the weighted $L^2$ estimates by Hörmander a…
A new explicit construction of Cauchy-Fantappié kernels is introduced for an arbitrary weakly pseudoconvex domain with smooth boundary. While not holomorphic in the parameter, the new kernel reflects the complex geometry and the Levi form of the boundary. Some estimates are obtained for the corresponding integral operator, which provide evidence that this kernel and related constructions give useful new tools for complex analysis on this general class of domains.
We prove that every compact, pseudoconvex, orientable, CR manifold of $\C^n$, bounds a complex manifold in the $C^\infty$ sense. In particular, the tangential Cauchy-Riemann system has closed range.
Let $X$ be a compact strongly pseudoconvex CR manifold with a transversal CR $S^1$-action. In this paper, we establish the asymptotic expansion of Szegő kernels of positive Fourier components and by using the asymptotics, we show that $X$ can be equivariant CR embedded into some $\mathbb C^N$ equipped with a simple $S^1$-action. An equivariant embedding of quasi-regular Sasakian manifold is also derived.
We prove the stability of the equivariant embedding of compact strictly pseudoconvex CR manifolds with transversal CR circle action under circle invariant perturbations of the CR structures.
Using the concept of inner integral curves defined by Hirschowitz we generalize a recent result by Kim, Levenberg and Yamaguchi concerning the obstruction of a pseudoconvex domain spread over a complex homogeneous manifold to be Stein. This is then applied to study the holomorphic reduction of pseudoconvex complex homogeneous manifolds X=G/H. Under the assumption that G is solvable or reductive we prove that X is the total space of a G-equivariant holomorphic fiber bundle over a Stein manifold such that all holomorphic functions on the fiber are constant.
We show that on bounded Lipschitz pseudoconvex domains that admit good weight functions the $\overline{\partial}$-Neumann operators $N_q, \overline{\partial}^* N_{q}$, and $\overline{\partial} N_{q}$ are bounded on $L^p$ spaces for some values of $p$ greater than 2.
Let $(X, T^{1,0}X)$ be a compact connected orientable strongly pseudoconvex CR manifold of dimension $2n+1$, $n\geq1$. Assume that $X$ admits a connected compact Lie group $G$ action and a transversal CR $S^1$ action, we compute the coefficients of the first two lower order terms of the equivariant Szegő kernel asymptotic expansions with respect to the $S^1$ action.
We consider a compact connected CR manifold with a transversal CR locally free $\mathbb R$-action endowed with a rigid positive CR line bundle. We prove that a certain weighted Fourier-Szegő kernel of the CR sections in the high tensor powers admits a full asymptotic expansion and we establish $\mathbb R$-equivariant Kodaira embedding theorem for CR manifolds. Using similar methods we also establish an analytic proof of an $\mathbb R$-equivariant Boutet de Monvel embedding theorem for strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds. In particular, we obtain equivariant embedding theorems for irregular Sasa…
Let $(X,T^{1,0}X)$ be a $(2n+1+d)$-dimensional compact CR manifold with codimension $d+1$, $d\geq1$, and let $G$ be a $d$-dimensional compact Lie group with CR action on $X$ and $T$ be a globally defined vector field on $X$ such that $\mathbb C TX=T^{1,0}X\oplus T^{0,1}X\oplus\mathbb C T\oplus\mathbb C\underline{\mathfrak{g}}$, where $\underline{\mathfrak{g}}$ is the space of vector fields on $X$ induced by the Lie algebra of $G$. In this work, we show that if $X$ is strongly pseudoconvex in the direction of $T$ and $n\geq 2$, then there exists a $G$-equivariant CR embedding of $X$ into $\math…
Let $X$ be a complex manifold and $M\subset X$ a compact, smooth, pseudoconvex CR manifold of dimension $2n-1$. (Here $n\ge 3$ or, in case $n=2$, it is made the extra assumption that $\dib_b$ has closed range on functions.) Assume that there exists a strictly CR-plurisubharmonic function in a neighborhood of $M$ in $X$. In this situation, there are here proved \begin{enumerate} \item[(i)] The global existence of $C^\infty$ solutions to the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator $\dib_b$. \item[(ii)] The global hypoellipticity of the Kohn-Laplacian $\Box_b$, under the additional condition of "weak …
In this paper we study the commutator of Cauchy type integrals $\EuScript C$ on a bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain $D$ in $\mathbb C^n$ with boundary $bD$ satisfying the minimum regularity condition $C^{2}$ as in the recent result of Lanzani--Stein. We point out that in this setting the Cauchy type integrals $\EuScript C$ is the sum of the essential part $\EuScript C^\sharp$ which is a Calderón--Zygmund operator and a remainder $\EuScript R$ which is no longer a Calderón--Zygmund operator. We show that the commutator $[b, \EuScript C]$ is bounded on $L^p(bD)$ ($1<p<\infty$) if {\color{blac…
Let M be a smooth, compact, orientable, weakly pseudoconvex manifold of dimension 3, embedded in C^N (N greater than or equal to 2), of codimension one or more in C^N, and endowed with the induced CR structure. Assuming that the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator \bar\partial_b has closed range in L^2 in order to rule out the Rossi example, we push regularity up to show \bar\partial_b has closed range in all Sobolev spaces s for s greater than zero. We then use the Szegö projection to show there is a smooth solution to the \bar\partial_b problem given smooth data. The results are obtained via …
In this paper, we study the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for Parabolic complex Monge-Ampère equations on a strongly pseudoconvex domain by the viscosity method. We extend the results in [EGZ15b] on the existence of solution and the convergence at infinity. We also establish the Hölder regularity of the solutions when the Cauchy-Dirichlet data are Hölder continuous.
We prove that the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator has closed range on Levi-pseudoconvex CR manifolds that are embedded in a q-convex complex manifold $X$. Our result generalizes the known case when $X$ is a Stein manifold.
These notes are concerned with the $L^{2}$-Sobolev theory of the complex Green operator on pseudoconvex, oriented, bounded and closed CR--submanifolds of $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ of hypersurface type. This class of submanifolds generalizes that of boundaries of pseudoconvex domains. We first discuss briefly the CR--geometry of general CR--submanifolds and then specialize to this class. Next, we review the basic $L^{2}$-theory of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator and the associated complex Green operator(s) on these submanifolds. After these preparations, we discuss recent results on compactness a…
Skoda's 1972 result on ideal generation is a crucial ingredient in the analytic approach to the finite generation of the canonical ring and the abundance conjecture. Special analytic techniques developed by Skoda, other than applications of the usual vanishing theorems and L2 estimates for the d-bar equation, are required for its proof. This note (which is part of a lecture given in the 60th birthday conference for Lawrence Ein) gives a simpler, more straightforward proof of Skoda's result, which makes it a natural consequence of the standard techniques in vanishing theorems and solving d-bar …
In this paper, we study the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for Parabolic complex Monge-Ampère equations on strongly pseudoconvex domains using the viscosity method. We prove a comparison principle for Parabolic complex Monge-Ampère equations and use it to study the existence and uniqueness of viscosity solution in certain cases where the sets $\{z\inΩ: f(t, z)=0 \}$ may be pairwise disjoint.
We give an example of a pseudoconvex domain in a complex manifold whose $L^2$-Dolbeault cohomology is non-Hausdorff, yet the domain is Stein. The domain is a smoothly bounded Levi-flat domain in a two complex-dimensional compact complex manifold. The domain is biholomorphic to a product domain in $\mathbb{C}^2$, hence Stein. This implies that for $q>0$, the usual Dolbeault cohomology with respect to smooth forms vanishes in degree $(p,q)$. But the $L^2$-Cauchy-Riemann operator on the domain does not have closed range on $(2,1)$-forms and consequently its $L^2$-Dolbeault cohomology is not Hausd…
Let $M$ be a complex manifold of dimension $n$ with smooth boundary $X$. Given $q\in\{0,1,\ldots,n-1\}$, let $\Box^{(q)}$ be the $\ddbar$-Neumann Laplacian for $(0,q)$ forms. We show that the spectral kernel of $\Box^{(q)}$ admits a full asymptotic expansion near the non-degenerate part of the boundary $X$ and the Bergman projection admits an asymptotic expansion under some local closed range condition. As applications, we establish Bergman kernel asymptotic expansions for some domains with weakly pseudoconvex boundary and $S^1$-equivariant Bergman kernel asymptotic expansions and embedding th…
We study deformations of complex hyperbolic surfaces which furnish the simplest examples of: (i) negatively curved Kähler manifolds and (ii) negatively curved Riemannian manifolds not having {\it constant} curvature. Although such complex surfaces may share the rigidity of quaternionic/octionic hyperbolic manifolds, our main goal is to show that they enjoy nevertheless the flexibility of low-dimensional real hyperbolic manifolds. Namely we define a class of ``bending" deformations of a given (Stein) complex surface $M$ associated with its closed geodesics provided that $M$ is homotopy equivale…
Among those transversally elliptic operators initiated by Atiyah and Singer, Kohn's $\Box_b$ operator on CR manifolds with $S^1$ action is a natural one of geometric significance for complex analysts. Our first main result establishes an asymptotic expansion for the heat kernel of such an operator with values in its Fourier components, which involves an unprecedented contribution in terms of a distance function from lower dimensional strata of the $S^1$-action. Our second main result computes a local index density, in terms of \emph{tangential} characteristic forms, on such manifolds including…
