We prove that Hermitian cusp forms of weight $k$ for the Hermitian modular group of degree $2$ are determined by their Fourier coefficients indexed by matrices whose determinants are essentially square-free. Moreover, we give a quantitative version of the above result. This is a consequence of the corresponding results for integral weight elliptic cusp forms, which are also treated in this paper.
We introduce a certain differential (heat) operator on the space of Hermitian Jacobi forms of degree 1, show it's commutation with certain Hecke operators and use it to construct a lift of elliptic cusp forms to Hermitian Jacobi cusp forms. We construct Hermitian Jacobi forms as the image of the tensor product of two copies of Jacobi forms and also from differentiation of the variables. We determine the number of Fourier coefficients that determine a Hermitian Jacobi form and use it to embed a certain subspace of Hermitian Jacobi forms into a direct sum of modular forms for the full modular gr…
We prove an arithmetic Hilbert-Samuel type theorem for semi-positive singular hermitian line bundles of finite height. In particular, the theorem applies to the log-singular metrics of Burgos-Kramer-Kühn. Our theorem is thus suitable for application to some non-compact Shimura varieties with their bundles of cusp forms. As an application, we treat the case of Hilbert modular surfaces, establishing an arithmetic analogue of the classical result expressing the dimensions of spaces of cusp forms in terms of special values of Dedekind zeta functions.
We give congruences between the Eisenstein series and a cusp form in the cases of Siegel modular forms and Hermitian modular forms. We should emphasize that there is a relation between the existence of a prime dividing the $k-1$-th generalized Bernoulli number and the existence of non-trivial Hermitian cusp forms of weight $k$. We will conclude by giving numerical examples for each case.
We consider the Hermitian Eisenstein series $E^{(\mathbb{K})}_k$ of degree $2$ and weight $k$ associated with an imaginary-quadratic number field $\mathbb{K}$ and determine the influence of $\mathbb{K}$ on the arithmetic and the growth of its Fourier coefficients. We find that they satisfy the identity $E^{{(\mathbb{K})}^2}_4 = E^{{(\mathbb{K})}}_8$, which is well-known for Siegel modular forms of degree $2$, if and only if $\mathbb{K} = \mathbb{Q} (\sqrt{-3})$. As an application, we show that the Eisenstein series $E^{(\mathbb{K})}_k$, $k=4,6,8,10,12$ are algebraically independent whenever $\…
The mod $p$ kernel of the theta operator is the set of modular forms whose image of the theta operator is congruent to zero modulo a prime $p$. In the case of Siegel modular forms, the authors found interesting examples of such modular forms. For example, Igusa's odd weight cusp form is an element of mod 23 kernel of the theta operator. In this paper, we give some examples which represent elements in the mod $p$ kernel of the theta operator in the case of Hermitian modular forms of degree 2.
For $K$ an imaginary quadratic field with discriminant $-D_K$ and associated quadratic Galois character $χ_K$, Kojima, Gritsenko and Krieg studied a Hermitian Maass lift of elliptic modular cusp forms of level $D_K$ and nebentypus $χ_K$ via Hermitian Jacobi forms to Hermitian modular forms of level one for the unitary group $U(2,2)$ split over $K$. We generalize this (under certain conditions on $K$ and $p$) to the case of $p$-oldforms of level $pD_K$ and character $χ_K$. To do this, we define an appropriate Hermitian Maass space for general level and prove that it is isomorphic to the space o…
We prove that all points of a toroidal compactification lying over 0-dimensional cusps are rationally equivalent in the integral Chow group for most classical modular varieties (Siegel, Hilbert, orthogonal, Hermitian, quaternionic). This gives a generalization, and even strengthening, of the Manin-Drinfeld theorem in higher dimension from the viewpoint of algebraic cycles. The same result no longer holds for Picard modular varieties, but for them we prove that the difference of any two "special" boundary points, which are dense in the boundary, is torsion.
Let $\frak T_2$ (resp. $\mathfrak{T}$) be the Hermitian symmetric domain of $Spin(2,10)$ (resp. $E_{7,3}$). In the previous work, we constructed holomorphic cusp forms on $\mathfrak{T}$ from elliptic cusp forms with respect to $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$. By using such cusp forms we construct holomorphic cusp forms on $\mathfrak{T}_2$ which are similar to Miyawaki lift in symplectic groups established by T. Ikeda.
A family of global integrals representing a product of tensor product (partial) $L$-functions: $ L^S(s,π\timesτ_1)L^S(s,π\timesτ_2)... L^S(s,π\timesτ_r) $ are established in this paper, where $π$ is an irreducible cuspidal automorphic representation of a quasi-split classical group of Hermitian type and $τ_1,...,τ_r$ are irreducible unitary cuspidal automorphic representations of $\GL_{a_1},...,\GL_{a_r}$, respectively. When $r=1$ and the classical group is an orthogonal group, this was studied by Ginzburg, Piatetski-Shapiro and Rallis in 1997 and when $π$ is generic and $τ_1,...,τ_r$ are not …
Miyawaki type lifts are kinds of Langlands functorial lifts and a special case was first conjectured by Miyawaki and proved by Ikeda for Siegel cusp forms. Since then, such a lift for Hermitian modular forms was constructed by Atobe and Kojima , and for half-integral weight Siegel cusp forms by Hayashida, and we constructed Miyawaki type lift for ${\rm GSpin}(2,10)$. Recently Ikeda and Yamana generalized Ikeda type construction and accordingly did Miyawaki type lift for Hilbert cusp forms in a remarkable way. In all these works, a construction of Miyawaki type lift takes two steps as follows: …
We undertake a detailed study of the lowest weight modules for the Hermitian symmetric pair (G,K), where G=Sp_4(R) and K is its maximal compact subgroup. In particular, we determine K-types and composition series, and write down explicit differential operators that navigate all the highest weight vectors of such a module starting from the unique lowest-weight vector. By rewriting these operators in classical language, we show that the automorphic forms on G that correspond to the highest weight vectors are exactly those that arise from nearly holomorphic vector-valued Siegel modular forms of d…
We study special cycles on integral models of Shimura varieties associated with unitary similitude groups of signature (n-1,1). We construct an arithmetic theta lift from harmonic Maass forms of weight 2-n to the arithmetic Chow group of the integral model of a unitary Shimura variety, by associating to a harmonic Maass form f a linear combination of Kudla-Rapoport divisors, equipped with the Green function given by the regularized theta lift of f. Our main result is an equality of two complex numbers: (1) the height pairing of the arithmetic theta lift of f against a CM cycle, and (2) the cen…
In this paper we give Rankin-Selberg integrals for the quasisplit unitary group on four variables, $\mathrm{GU}(2,2)$, and a closely-related quasisplit form of $\mathrm{GSpin}_6$. First, we give a two-variable Rankin-Selberg integral on $\mathrm{GU}(2,2)$. This integral applies to generic cusp forms, and represents the product of the exterior square (degree six) $L$-function and the standard (degree eight) $L$-function. Then we give a set of integral representations for just the degree six $L$-function on the quasisplit $\mathrm{GSpin}_6$. The $\mathrm{GSpin}_6$ integrals are reinterpretations…
Let~$G$ be a unitary group of an~$ε$-hermitian form~$h$ given over a nonarchimedean local field~$F_0$ of odd residue characteristic. We introduce a geometric combinatoric condition under which we prove "Intertwining implies Conjugacy" for semisimple characters of~$G$ and the general linear group of the ambient vector space of~$G$. Further we prove a Skolem-Noether result for the action of~$G$ on its Lie algebra, more precisely two Lie algebra elements of~$G$ which have the same characteristic polynomial over~$F$ must be conjugate under an element of~$G$ if there are corresponding semisimple ch…
Let K be an imaginary quadratic field of discriminant -D_K<0. We introduce a notion of an adelic Maass space S_{k, -k/2}^M for automorphic forms on the quasi-split unitary group U(2,2) associated with K and prove that it is stable under the action of all Hecke operators. When D_K is prime we obtain a Hecke-equivariant descent from S_{k,-k/2}^M to the space of elliptic cusp forms S_{k-1}(D_K, χ_K), where χ_K is the quadratic character of K. For a given ϕ\in S_{k-1}(D_K, χ_K), a prime l >k, we then construct (mod l) congruences between the Maass form corresponding to ϕand hermitian modular forms…
