We construct a Q-operator for the open XXZ Heisenberg quantum spin chain with diagonal boundary conditions and give a rigorous derivation of Baxter's TQ relation. Key roles in the theory are played by a particular infinite-dimensional solution of the reflection equation and by short exact sequences of intertwiners of the standard Borel subalgebras of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2})$. The resulting Bethe equations are the same as those arising from Sklyanin's algebraic Bethe ansatz.
Non-polynomial Baxterized solutions of reflection equations associated with affine Hecke and affine Birman-Murakami-Wenzl algebras are found. Relations to integrable spin chain models with nontrivial boundary conditions are discussed.
We construct the Baxter operator $\boldsymbol{ \texttt{Q} }(λ)$ for the $q$-Toda chain and the Toda$_2$ chain (the Toda chain in the second Hamiltonian structure). Our construction builds on the relation between the Baxter operator and Bäcklund transformations that were unravelled in {\cite{GaPa92}}. We construct a number of quantum intertwiners ensuring the commutativity of $\boldsymbol{ \texttt{Q} }(λ)$ with the transfer matrix of the models and the one of $\boldsymbol{ \texttt{Q} }$'s between each other. Most importantly, $\boldsymbol{ \texttt{Q} }(λ)$ is modular invariant in the sense of F…
Based on the conjecture for the exact eigenvalue of the transfer matrix of the higher half-integer spin XXZ chain at the Razumov-Stroganov point, we evaluate the corresponding Baxter's Q operator in closed form by solving the TQ equation. The combination of the Q operators on the "right side" and the "wrong side" is shown to produce the hierarchy of functional relations.
Baxter operators are constructed for quantum spin chains with deformed $s\ell_2$ symmetry. The parallel treatment of Yang-Baxter operators for the cases of undeformed, trigonometrically and elliptically deformed symmetries presented earlier and relying on the factorization regarding parameter permutations is extended to the global chain operators following the scheme worked out recently in the undeformed case.
We introduce a category O of modules over the elliptic quantum group of sl_N with well-behaved q-character theory. We construct asymptotic modules as analytic continuation of a family of finite-dimensional modules, the Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules. In the Grothendieck ring of this category we prove two types of identities: generalized Baxter relations in the spirit of Frenkel--Hernandez between finite-dimensional modules and asymptotic modules; three-term Baxter TQ relations of infinite-dimensional modules.
The problem of constructing the $SL(N,\mathbb{C})$ invariant solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation is considered. The solutions ($\mathcal{R}$-operators) for arbitrarily principal series representations of $SL(N,\mathbb{C})$ are obtained in an explicit form. We construct the commutative family of the operators $\mathcal{Q}_k(u)$ which can be identified with the Baxter operators for the noncompact $SL(N,\mathbb{C})$ spin magnet.
We continue our systematic construction of Baxter Q-operators for spin chains, which is based on certain degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Here we generalize our approach from the fundamental representation of gl(n) to generic finite-dimensional representations in quantum space. The results equally apply to non-compact representations of highest or lowest weight type. We furthermore fill an apparent gap in the literature, and provide the nearest-neighbor Hamiltonians of the spin chains in question for all cases where the gl(n) representations are described by rectangular Young …
We construct the Baxter's operator and the corresponding Baxter's equation for a quantum version of the Ablowitz Ladik model. The result is achieved by looking at the quantum analogue of the classical Backlund transformations. For comparison we find the same result by using the well-known Bethe ansatz technique. General results about integrable models governed by the same r-matrix algebra will be given. The Baxter's equation comes out to be a q-difference equation involving both the trace and the quantum determinant of the monodromy matrix. The spectrality property of the classical Backlund tr…
We construct a basis of solutions of the scalar $\boldsymbol{ \texttt{t} }- \boldsymbol{ \texttt{Q} }$ equation describing the spectrum of the $q$-Toda and Toda$_2$ chains by using auxiliary non-linear integral equations. Our construction allows us to provide quantisation conditions for the spectra of these models in the form of thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz-like equations.
Applying the Pasquier-Gaudin procedure we construct the Baxter's Q-operator for the homogeneous XXX model as integral operator in standard representation of SL(2). The connection between Q-operator and local Hamiltonians is discussed. It is shown that operator of Lipatov's duality symmetry arises naturally as leading term of the asymptotic expansion of Q-operator for large values of spectral parameter.
We introduce a category $\mathcal O$ of representations of the elliptic quantum group associated with $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ with well-behaved $q$-character theory. We derive separation of variables relations for asymptotic representations in the Grothendieck ring of this category. Baxter $Q$-operators are obtained as transfer matrices for asymptotic representations and obey $TQ$-relations as a consequence of the relations in $K_0(\mathcal O)$.
Based on properties of the universal R-matrix, we derive universal Baxter TQ-relations for quantum integrable systems with (diagonal) open boundaries associated with $U_{q}(\widehat{sl_{2}})$. The Baxter TQ-relations for the open XXZ-spin chain are images of these universal Baxter TQ-relations.
We develop Yang-Baxter integrability structures connected with the quantum affine superalgebra Uq(\hat sl(2|1)). Baxter's Q-operators are explicitly constructed as supertraces of certain monodromy matrices associated with (q-deformed) bosonic and fermionic oscillator algebras. There are six different Q-operators in this case, obeying a few fundamental fusion relations, which imply all functional relations between various commuting transfer matrices. The results are universal in the sense that they do not depend on the quantum space of states and apply both to lattice models and to continuous q…
We show that eigenvalues of the family of Baxter Q-operators for supersymmetric integrable spin chains constructed with the gl(K|M)-invariant $R$-matrix obey the Hirota bilinear difference equation. The nested Bethe ansatz for super spin chains, with any choice of simple root system, is then treated as a discrete dynamical system for zeros of polynomial solutions to the Hirota equation. Our basic tool is a chain of Backlund transformations for the Hirota equation connecting quantum transfer matrices. This approach also provides a systematic way to derive the complete set of generalized Baxter …
Recently integral representations for the eigenfunctions of quadratic open Toda chain Hamiltonians for classical groups was proposed. This representation generalizes Givental representation for A_n. In this note we verify that the wave functions defined by these integral representations are common eigenfunctions for the complete set of open Toda chain Hamiltonians. We consider the zero eigenvalue wave functions for classical groups C_n and D_n thus completing the generalization of the Givental construction in these cases. The construction is based on a recursive procedure and uses the formalis…
We study a category O of representations of the Yangian associated to an arbitrary finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra. We obtain asymptotic modules as analytic continuation of a family of finite-dimensional modules, the Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules. In the Grothendieck ring we establish the three-term Baxter's TQ relations for the asymptotic modules. We indicate that Hernandez--Jimbo's limit construction can also be applied, resulting in modules over anti-dominantly shifted Yangians.
We propose Wronskian-like determinant formulae for the Baxter Q-functions and the eigenvalues of transfer matrices for spin chains related to the quantum affine superalgebra U_{q}(hat{gl}(M|N)). In contrast to the supersymmetric Bazhanov-Reshetikhin formula (the quantum supersymmetric Jacobi-Trudi formula) proposed in [Z. Tsuboi, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 30 (1997) 7975], the size of the matrices of these Wronskian-like formulae is less than or equal to M+N. Base on these formulae, we give new expressions of the solutions of the T-system (fusion relations for transfer matrices) for supersymmetric…

We construct the 1D $\mathbb{Z}_3$ parafermionic model based on the solution of Yang-Baxter equation and express the model by three types of fermions. It is shown that the $\mathbb{Z}_3$ parafermionic chain possesses both triple degenerate ground states and non-trivial topological winding number. Hence, the $\mathbb{Z}_3$ parafermionic model is a direct generalization of 1D $\mathbb{Z}_2$ Kitaev model. Both the $\mathbb{Z}_2$ and $\mathbb{Z}_3$ model can be obtained from Yang-Baxter equation. On the other hand, to show the algebra of parafermionic tripling intuitively, we define a new 3-body H…
The Darboux transformation applied recurrently on a Schroedinger operator generates what is called a {\em dressing chain}, or from a different point of view, a set of supersymmetric shape invariant potentials. The finite-gap potential theory is a special case of the chain. For the finite-gap case, the equations of the chain can be expressed as a time evolution of a Hamiltonian system. We apply Sklyanin's method of separation of variables to the chain. We show that the classical equation of the separation of variables is the Baxter T-Q relation after quantization.
In this brief note we would like to report on an observation concerning the relation between Rota-Baxter operators and Loday-type algebras, i.e. dendriform di- and trialgebras. It is shown that associative algebras equipped with a Rota-Baxter operator of arbitrary weight always give such dendriform structures.
The Baxter-Bazhanov-Stroganov model (also known as the τ^(2) model) has attracted much interest because it provides a tool for solving the integrable chiral Z_N-Potts model. It can be formulated as a face spin model or via cyclic L-operators. Using the latter formulation and the Sklyanin-Kharchev-Lebedev approach, we give the explicit derivation of the eigenvectors of the component B_n(λ) of the monodromy matrix for the fully inhomogeneous chain of finite length. For the periodic chain we obtain the Baxter T-Q-equations via separation of variables. The functional relations for the transfer mat…
We give a new type of Schur-Weyl duality for the representations of a family of quantum subgroups and their centralizer algebra. We define and classify singly-generated, Yang-Baxter relation planar algebras. We present the skein theoretic construction of a new parameterized planar algebra. We construct infinitely many new subfactors and unitary fusion categories, and compute their trace formula as a closed-form expression, in terms of Young diagrams.
The universal Baxter operator is an element of the Archimedean spherical Hecke algebra H(G,K), K be a maximal compact subgroup of a Lie group G. It has a defining property to act in spherical principle series representations of G via multiplication on the corresponding local Archimedean L-factors. Recently such operators were introduced for G=GL_{\ell+1}(R) as generalizations of the Baxter operators arising in the theory of quantum Toda chains. In this note we provide universal Baxter operators for classical groups SO_{2\ell}, Sp_{2\ell} using the results of Piatetski-Shapiro and Rallis on int…

We solve the longstanding problem to define a functional characterization of the spectrum of the transfer matrix associated to the most general spin-1/2 representations of the 6-vertex reflection algebra for general inhomogeneous chains. The corresponding homogeneous limit reproduces the spectrum of the Hamiltonian of the spin-1/2 open XXZ and XXX quantum chains with the most general integrable boundaries. The spectrum is characterized by a second order finite difference functional equation of Baxter type with an inhomogeneous term which vanishes only for some special but yet interesting non-d…
We construct boundary type operators satisfying fused reflection equation for arbitrary representations of the Baxterized affine Hecke algebra. These operators are analogues of the fused reflection matrices in solvable half-line spin chain models. We show that these operators lead to a family of commuting transfer matrices of Sklyanin type. We derive fusion type functional relations for these operators for two families of representations.
We propose the operatorial form of Baxter's TQ-relations in a general form of the operatorial Bäcklund flow describing the nesting process for the inhomogeneous rational gl(K|M) quantum (super)spin chains with twisted periodic boundary conditions. The full set of Q-operators and T-operators on all levels of nesting is explicitly defined. The results are based on a generalization of the identities among the group characters and their group co-derivatives with respect to the twist matrix, found by one of the authors and P.Vieira [V.Kazakov and P.Vieira, JHEP 0810 (2008) 050 [arXiv:0711.2470]]. O…
Starting from a quantum dilogarithm over a Pontryagin self-dual LCA group $A$, we construct an operator solution of the Yang-Baxter equation generalizing the solution of the Faddeev-Volkov model. Based on a specific choice of a subgroup $B\subset A$ and by using the Weil transformation, we also give a new non-operator interpretation of the Yang-Baxter relation. That allows us to construct a lattice QFT-model of IRF-type with gauge invariance under independent $B$-translations of local `spin' variables.
Associated to quantum affine general linear Lie superalgebras are two families of short exact sequences of representations whose first and third terms are irreducible: the Baxter TQ relations involving infinite-dimensional representations; the extended T-systems of Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules. We make use of these representations over the full quantum affine superalgebra to define Baxter operators as transfer matrices for the quantum integrable model and to deduce Bethe Ansatz Equations, under genericity conditions.
Generalized Baxter's relations on the transfer-matrices (also known as Baxter's TQ relations) are constructed and proved for an arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebra. Moreover, we interpret them as relations in the Grothendieck ring of the category O introduced by Jimbo and the second author in arXiv:1104.1891 involving infinite-dimensional representations constructed in arXiv:1104.1891, which we call here "prefundamental". We define the transfer-matrices associated to the prefundamental representations and prove that their eigenvalues on any finite-dimensional representation are polynomi…

In this paper we continue our classification of regular solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation using the method based on the spin chain boost operator developed in \cite{deLeeuw:2019zsi}. We provide details on how to find all non-difference form solutions and apply our method to spin chains with local Hilbert space of dimensions two, three and four. We classify all $16\times 16$ solutions which exhibit $\mathfrak{su}(2)\oplus \mathfrak{su}(2)$ symmetry, which include the one-dimensional Hubbard model and the $S$-matrix of the ${\rm AdS}_5 \times {\rm S}^5$ superstring sigma model. In all cases …
From relative Rota-Baxter operators and relative averaging operators on Lie algebras to relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz algebras: a uniform approach
The q-oscillator representation for the Borel subalgebra of the affine symmetry $U_q(sl_N^)$ is presented. By means of this q-oscillator representation, we give the free field realizations of the Baxter's Q-operator $Q_j(t)$, $\bar{Q}_j(t)$ for the W-algebra $W_N$. We give the functional relations of the $T$-$Q$ operators, including the higher-rank generalization of the Baxter's $T$-$Q$ relation.
We develop a new approach to Baxter Q-operators by relating them to the theory of Yangians, which are the simplest examples for quantum groups. Here we open up a new chapter in this theory and study certain degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation connected with harmonic oscillator algebras. These infinite-state solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation serve as elementary, "partonic" building blocks for other solutions via the standard fusion procedure. As a first example of the method we consider sl(n) compact spin chains and derive the full hierarchy of operatorial functional equations …
We obtain the Baxter Q-operators in the $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$ invariant integrable models as a special limits of the quantum transfer matrices corresponding to different spins in the auxiliary space both from the functional relations and from the explicit calculations. We derive the Baxter equation from the well known fusion relations for the transfer matrices. Our method is valid for an arbitrary integrable model corresponding to the quantum group $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$ for example for the XXZ- spin chain.
We use the Pieri rules to recover the q-boson model and show it is equivalent to a discretized version of the relativistic Toda chain. We identify its semi infinite transfer matrix and the corresponding Baxter Q-matrix with half vertex operators related by an ω-duality transformation. We observe that the scalar product of two higher spin XXZ wave functions can be expressed with a Gaudin determinant.
We define and study the quantum equivariant $K$-theory of cotangent bundles over Grassmannians. For every tautological bundle in the $K$-theory we define its one-parametric deformation, referred to as quantum tautological bundle. We prove that the spectrum of operators of quantum multiplication by these quantum classes is governed by the Bethe ansatz equations for the inhomogeneous $XXZ$ spin chain. In addition, we prove that each such operator corresponds to the universal elements of quantum group $\mathcal{U}_{\hbar}(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$. In particular, we identify the Baxter operator…
A Yang-Baxter relation-based formalism for generalized quantum affine algebras with the structure of an infinite Hopf family of (super-) algebras is proposed. The structure of the infinite Hopf family is given explicitly on the level of $L$ matrices. The relation with the Drinfeld current realization is established in the case of $4\times4$ $R$-matrices by studying the analogue of the Ding-Frenkel theorem. By use of the concept of algebra ``comorphisms'' (which generalize the notion of algebra comodules for standard Hopf algebras), a possible way of constructing infinitely many commuting opera…
We present most general one-parametric solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations (YBE) for one spectral parameter dependent $R_{ij}(u)$-matrices of the six- and eight-vertex models, where the only constraint is the particle number conservation by mod(2). A complete classification of the solutions is performed. We have obtained also two spectral parameter dependent particular solutions $R_{ij}(u,v)$ of YBE. The application of the non-homogeneous solutions to construction of Zamolodchikov's tetrahedral algebra is discussed.
Functional equations methods are a fundamental part of the theory of Exactly Solvable Models in Statistical Mechanics and they are intimately connected with Baxter's concept of commuting transfer matrices. This concept has culminated in the celebrated Yang-Baxter equation which plays a fundamental role for the construction of quantum integrable systems and also for obtaining their exact solution. Here I shall discuss a proposal that has been put forward in the past years, in which the Yang-Baxter algebra is viewed as a source of functional equations describing quantities of physical interest. …
We diagonalize Q-operators for rational homogeneous sl(2)-invariant Heisenberg spin chains using the algebraic Bethe ansatz. After deriving the fundamental commutation relations relevant for this case from the Yang-Baxter equation we demonstrate that the Q-operators act diagonally on the Bethe vectors if the Bethe equations are satisfied. In this way we provide a direct proof that the eigenvalues of the Q-operators studied here are given by Baxter's Q-functions.
We introduce a class of particle models in one dimension involving exchange interactions that have scattering properties satisfying the Yang-Baxter consistency condition. A subclass of these models exhibits reflectionless scattering, in which particles are "transparent" to each other, generalizing a property hitherto only known for the exchange Calogero model. The thermodynamics of these systems can be derived using the asymptotic Bethe-ansatz method.
The Yang-Baxter equation has long been recognised as the masterkey to integrability, providing the basis for exactly solved models which capture the fundamental physics of a number of realistic classical and quantum systems. In this article we provide an introductory overview of the impact of Yang-Baxter integrable models on experiments in condensed matter physics and ultracold atoms. A number of prominent examples are mentioned, including the hard-hexagon model, the Heisenberg spin chain, the transverse quantum Ising chain, a spin ladder model, the Lieb-Liniger Bose gas, the Gaudin-Yang Fermi…
We study the diagonalization problem of certain discrete quantum integrable models by the method of Baxter's T-Q relation from the algebraic geometry aspect. Among those the Hofstadter type model (with the rational magnetic flux), discrete quantum pendulum and discrete sine-Gordon model are our main concern in this report. By the quantum inverse scattering method, the Baxter's T-Q relation is formulated on the associated spectral curve, a high genus Riemann surface in general, arisen from the study of the spectrum problem of the system. In the case of degenerated spectral curve where the spect…
The matrix elements of the $2\times 2$ fusion of Baxter's elliptic $R$-matrix, $R^{(2,2)}(u)$, are given explicitly. Based on a note by Jimbo, we give a formula which show that $R^{(2,2)}(u)$ is gauge equivalent to Fateev's $R$-matrix for the 21-vertex model. Then the crossing symmetry formula for $R^{(2,2)}(u)$ is derived. We also consider the fusion of the vertex-face correspondence relation and derive a crossing symmetry relation between the fusion of the intertwining vectors and their dual vectors.
We introduce the concept of an extended O-operator that generalizes the well-known concept of a Rota-Baxter operator. We study the associative products coming from these operators and establish the relationship between extended O-operators and the associative Yang-Baxter equation, extended associative Yang-Baxter equation and generalized Yang-Baxter equation.
