We extend a result of Guan by showing that the second Betti number of a 4-dimensional primitively symplectic orbifold is at most 23 and there are at most 91 singular points. The maximal possibility 23 can only occur in the smooth case. In addition to the known smooth examples with second Betti numbers 7 and 23, we provide examples of such orbifolds with second Betti numbers 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14 and 16. In an appendix, we extend Salamon's relation among Betti/Hodge numbers of symplectic manifolds to symplectic orbifolds.
We use orbifold structures to deduce degeneracy statements for holomorphic maps into logarithmic surfaces. We improve former results in the smooth case and generalize them to singular pairs. In particular, we give applications on nodal surfaces and complements of singular plane curves.
Let G be a finite group acting on a symplectic complex vector space V. Assume that the quotient V/G has a holomorphic symplectic resolution. We prove that G is generated by "symplectic reflectionsd"', i.e. symplectomorphisms with fixed space of codimension 2 in V. Symplectic resolutions are always semismall. A crepant resolution of V/G is always symplectic. We give a symplectic version of Nakamura conjectures.
A Fourier transform technique is introduced for counting the number of solutions of holomorphic moment map equations over a finite field. This in turn gives information on Betti numbers of holomorphic symplectic quotients. As a consequence simple unified proofs are obtained for formulas of Poincare polynomials of toric hyperkahler varieties, Poincare polynomials of Hilbert schemes of points and twisted ADHM spaces of instantons on C^2 and Poincare polynomials of all Nakajima quiver varieties. As an application, a proof of a conjecture of Kac on the number of absolutely indecomposable represent…
We show that any complex manifold that has a divisor whose normalization has non-zero first Betti number either has a non-trivial holomorphic gerbe which does not trivialize meromorphicly or a meromorphic line bundle not equivalent to any holomorphic line bundle. Similarly, higher Betti numbers of divisors correspond to higher gerbes or meromorphic gerbes. We give several new examples.
We define the notion of a holomorphic bundle on the noncommutative toric orbifold $T_θ/G$ associated with an action of a finite cyclic group $G$ on an irrational rotation algebra. We prove that the category of such holomorphic bundles is abelian and its derived category is equivalent to the derived category of modules over a finite-dimensional algebras $Λ$. As an application we finish the computation of $K_0$-groups of the crossed product algebras describing the above orbifolds initiated by Kumjian, Walters and Buck. Also, we describe a torsion pair in the category of $Λ$-modules, such that th…
We show Mckay correspondence of Betti numbers of Chen-Ruan coho- mology for omnioriented quasitoric orbifolds. In previous articles with M. Poddar [8], [9], we proved the correspondence for four dimension and six dimensions. Here we deal with the general case.
We give an optimal upper bound of the degree of quasi-smooth hypersurfaces which are invariant by a one-dimensional holomorphic foliation on a compact toric orbifold, i.e. on a complete simplicial toric variety. This bound depends only on the degree of the foliation and of the degrees of the toric homogeneous coordinates.
This paper presents the theory of holomorphic vector valued modular forms from a geometric perspective. More precisely, we define certain holomorphic vector bundles on the modular orbifold of generalized elliptic curves whose sections are vector valued modular forms. This perspective simplifies the theory, and it clarifies the role that exponents of representations of SL_2(Z) play in the holomorphic theory of vector valued modular forms. Further, it allows one to use standard techniques in algebraic geometry to deduce free-module theorems and dimension formulae (deduced previously by other aut…
One of the main tools for the study of compact hyperkähler manifolds is the natural action of the Looijenga-Lunts-Verbitsky Lie algebra on the cohomology of such manifolds. This also applies to the mildly singular holomorphic symplectic varieties - hyperkähler orbifolds, allowing us to prove that André motives of such orbifolds tend to be abelian.
We propose a generalization of Verbitsky's global Torelli theorem in the framework of compact Kähler irreducible holomorphically symplectic orbifolds by adapting Huybrechts' proof (arXiv:1106.5573). As intermediate step needed, we also provide a generalization of the twistor space and the projectivity criterion based on works of Campana (arXiv:math/0402243) and Huybrechts (arXiv:math/0106014) respectively.
We study the orbifold Gromov-Witten theory of the quotient C^3/Z_3 in all genera. Our first result is a proof of the holomorphic anomaly equations in the precise form predicted by B-model physics. Our second result is an exact crepant resolution correspondence relating the Gromov-Witten theories of C^3/Z_3 and local CP2. The proof of the correspondence requires an identity proven in the Appendix by T. Coates and H. Iritani.
The present work is concerned with the study of four-dimensional irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifolds with second Betti number $23$. We describe their birational geometry and their relations to EPW sextics.
This paper studies both the conductance and charge transport on 2D orbifolds in a strong magnetic field. We consider a family of Landau Hamiltonians on a complex, compact 2D orbifold $Y$ that are parametrised by the Jacobian torus $J(Y)$ of $Y$. We calculate the degree of the associated stable holomorphic spectral orbibundles when the magnetic field $B$ is large, and obtain fractional quantum numbers as the conductance and a refined analysis also gives the charge transport. A key tool studied here is a nontrivial generalisation of the Nahm transform to 2D orbifolds.
Let $n\geq 2$ and $r\in \{1, \cdots, n-1\}$ be integers, $M$ be a compact smooth K\''ahler manifold of complex dimension $n$, $E$ be a holomorphic vector bundle with complex rank $r$ and equipped with an hermitian metric $h_E$, and $L$ be an ample holomorphic line bundle over $M$ equipped with a metric $h$ with positive curvature form. For any $d\in \mathbb{N}$ large enough, we endorse the space of holomorphic sections $H^0(M,E\otimes L^d)$ with the natural Gaussian measure associated to $h_E$ , $h$ and its curvature form. Let $U\subset M$ be an open subset with smooth boundary. We prove that …
We prove that all minimal symplectic four-manifolds are essentially irreducible. We also clarify the relationship between holomorphic and symplectic minimality of Kähler surfaces. This leads to a new proof of the deformation-invariance of holomorphic minimality for complex surfaces with even first Betti number which are not Hirzebruch surfaces.
Edge-contraction operations form an effective tool in various graph enumeration problems, such as counting Grothendieck's dessins d'enfants and simple and double Hurwitz numbers. These counting problems can be solved by a mechanism known as topological recursion, which is a mirror B-model corresponding to these counting problems. We show that for the case of orbifold Hurwitz numbers, the mirror objects, i.e., the spectral curve and the differential forms on it, are constructed solely from the edge-contraction operations of the counting problem in genus $0$ and one marked point. This forms a pa…
We discuss aspects of the algebraic geometry of compact non-commutative Calabi-Yau manifolds. In this setting, it is appropriate to consider local holomorphic algebras which can be glued together into a compact Calabi-Yau algebra. We consider two examples: a toroidal orbifold T^6/Z_2 x Z_2, and an orbifold of the quintic in CP_4, each with discrete torsion. The non-commutative geometry tools are enough to describe various properties of the orbifolds. First, one describes correctly the fractionation of branes at singularities. Secondly, for the first example we show that one can recover explici…
We prove an analog of the holomorphic Lefschetz formula for endofunctors of smooth compact dg-categories. We deduce from it a generalization of the Lefschetz formula of V. Lunts that takes the form of a reciprocity law for a pair of commuting endofunctors. As an application, we prove a version of Lefschetz formula proposed by Frenkel and Ngo. Also, we compute explicitly the ingredients of the holomorphic Lefschetz formula for the dg-category of matrix factorizations of an isolated singularity w(x). We apply this formula to get some restrictions on the Betti numbers of a Z/2-equivariant module …
In arXiv:1503.00125, the authors proved that every complete intersection smooth projective variety $Y$ is a Fano visitor, i.e. its derived category $D^b(Y)$ is equivalent to a full triangulated subcategory of the derived category $D^b(X)$ of a smooth Fano variety $X$, called a Fano host of $Y$. They also introduced the notion of Fano dimension of $Y$ as the smallest dimension of a Fano host $X$ and obtained an upper bound for the Fano dimension of each complete intersection variety. In this paper, we provide a Hodge-theoretic criterion for the existence of a Fano host which enables us to deter…
We prove a higher genus version of the genus $0$ local-relative correspondence of van Garrel-Graber-Ruddat: for $(X,D)$ a pair with $X$ a smooth projective variety and $D$ a nef smooth divisor, maximal contact Gromov-Witten theory of $(X,D)$ with $λ_g$-insertion is related to Gromov-Witten theory of the total space of $\mathcal{O}_X(-D)$ and local Gromov-Witten theory of $D$. Specializing to $(X,D)=(S,E)$ for $S$ a del Pezzo surface or a rational elliptic surface and $E$ a smooth anticanonical divisor, we show that maximal contact Gromov-Witten theory of $(S,E)$ is determined by the Gromov-Wit…
