The models with $z=2$ are known to be perturbatively nonrenormalizable but are shown to be renormalizable in the context of the $1/N$ expansion. In the present work, we search static charged black hole solutions to Hořava-Lifshitz gravity with or without projectability condition. We consider the most general form of action which electromagnetic field couples with Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. With the projectability condition, we find dS-Reissner-Nordstrom black hole solution in Painlevé-Gullstrand type coordinates in the IR region and a de-Sitter space-time solution in the UV region. Without the projectability condition, in the IR region, we find an especial static charged black hole solution.
In order to allow the asymptotically flat, we consider Hořava-Lifshitz gravity theory with a soft violation of the detailed balance condition and obtain various solutions. In this note we study the relation between F(R) and scalar tensor Horava-Lifshitz gravity. We find that due to the broken diffeomorphism invariance corresponding scalar tensor theory has more complicated form than in case of the full diffeomorphism invariant F(R) theory of gravity. We study the Lifshitz type extension of the standard model (SM) at UV, with dynamical critical exponent z=3. One loop radiative corrections to the Higgs mass in such a model is calculated. We prove the consistency of the Gödel metric with the Horava-Lifshitz gravity whose action involves terms with z=1, z=2 and z=3. We show that, for different relations between the parameters of the theory, this consistency is achieved for different classes of matter, in particular, for the small cosmological constant it is achieved only for the exotic matter, that is, ghosts or phantom matter.
We generalize recent analysis of the dynamics of point particle in Horava-Lifshitz background to the case of string probe when we replace the Hamiltonian constraint of the Polyakov string with the constraint that breaks Lorentz invariance of target space-time. In this paper, we develop studies of the dynamical symmetry breaking in the Horava-Lifshitz four-fermion model for the specific case $z=3$ and explicitly demonstrate that for various space-time dimensions, one could arrive at the theory displaying both dynamical generation of the Lorentz symmetry for the kinetic term and arising the positively defined potential at the same time. We study the one-loop two point functions of the gauge, scalar and spinor fields for a Horava-Lifshitz-like QED with critical exponent $z=2$. It turns out that, in certain cases, the dynamical restoration of the Lorentz symmetry at low energies can take place. In this paper, we analyze the fermionic Casimir effects associated with a massless quantum field in the context of Lorentz symmetry violation approach based on Horava-Lifshitz methodology. In order to obtain these observables, we impose the standard MIT bag boundary condition on the fields on two large and parallel plates. Our main objectives are to investigate how the Casimir energy and pressure depend on the parameter associated with the breaking of Lorentz symmetry.
We show that, contrary to the claim made in arXiv:0911.1299, the extended Horava gravity model proposed in arXiv:0909.3525 does not suffer from a strong coupling problem. It is shown that detailed balance is quite efficient in limiting the proliferation of couplings in Horava-Lifshitz gravity, and that its implementation without the projectability assumption leads to a theory with sensible dynamics. We use the Wetterich equation for foliated spacetimes to study the RG flow of projectable Horava-Lifshitz gravity coupled to n Lifshitz scalars. Using novel results for anisotropic heat kernels, the matter-induced beta functions for the gravitational couplings are computed explicitly. The RG flow exhibits an UV attractive anisotropic Gaussian fixed point where Newton's constant vanishes and the extra scalar mode decouples. We quantize the two-dimensional projectable Horava-Lifshitz gravity with a bi-local as well as space-like wormhole interaction. The resulting quantum Hamiltonian coincides with the one obtained through summing over all genus in the string field theory for two-dimensional causal dynamical triangulations. This implies that our wormhole interaction can be interpreted as a splitting or joining interaction of one-dimensional strings.
We investigate the connection between Gravity's Rainbow and Horava-Lifshitz gravity, since both theories incorporate a modification in the UltraViolet regime which improves their quantum behavior at the cost of the Lorentz invariance loss. We investigate slowly rotating black holes in the Hořava-Lifshitz (HL) gravity. For $Λ_W=0$ and $λ=1$, we find a slowly rotating black hole of the Kehagias-Sfetsos solution in asymptotically flat spacetimes. We discuss their thermodynamic properties by computing mass, temperature, angular momentum, and angular velocity on the horizon.
We formulate Horava-Lifshitz cosmology with an additional scalar field that leads to an effective dark energy sector. We find that, due to the inherited features from the gravitational background, Horava-Lifshitz dark energy naturally presents very interesting behaviors, possessing a varying equation-of-state parameter, exhibiting phantom behavior and allowing for a realization of the phantom divide crossing. In addition, Horava-Lifshitz dark energy guarantees for a bounce at small scale factors and it may trigger the turnaround at large scale factors, leading naturally to cyclic cosmology.
We look for a Brans-Dicke type of generalization of the Horava-Lifshitz gravity. It is shown that such a generalization is possible within the detailed balance condition. Classically, the resulting theory reduces in the IR limit to the usual Brans-Dicke theory with a negative cosmological constant for certain values of parameters. In this paper we show that by considering a slightly modified Horava-Lifshitz gravity one can find self-tuning cosmological scenarios. Since in the proposed model the cosmological constant cancels out, then regardless of its value it cannot produce any gravitational effect. As a consequence this removes the gravitational effect of the vacuum energy on the expansion of the Universe. Accelerating scenarios, however, can be found through the presence of conventional and non-conventional fluids.
