A theoretical study is presented for the propagation of Dust Ion Acoustic Waves in an unmagnetized four-component plasma, consisting of Maxwellian negative ions, cold mobile positive ions, $κ$-distributed electrons and positively charged dust grains. Based on the characteristics of Sagdeev pseudopotential and phase portraits, three types of nonlinear waves are observed --- solitons, double layers and supersolitons. The conditions for the existence of such nonlinear waves are highly sensitive to the plasma parameters. The results obtained in this study may be of wide relevance in the field of space plasma as well as ultrasmall semiconductor devices in the laboratory.
Hypocycloid and epicycloid motions of irregular grain (pine pollen) are observed for the first time in unmagnetized dust plasma in 2D horizontal plane. Hypocycloid motions occur both inside and outside the glass ring which confines the grain. Epicycloid motion only appears outside the glass ring. Cuspate cycloid motions, circle motion, and stationary grain are also observed. All these motions are related with both the initial conditions of dropped grain and the discharge parameters. The Magnus force originated from the spin of the irregular grain is confirmed by comparison experiments with reg…
Sardar et al. [Phys. Plasmas 23, 073703 (2016)] have studied the stability of small amplitude dust ion acoustic solitary waves in a collisionless unmagnetized electron - positron - ion - dust plasma. They have derived a Kadomtsev Petviashvili (KP) equation to investigate the lowest - order stability of the solitary wave solution of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation for long-wavelength plane-wave transverse perturbation when the weak dependence of the spatial coordinates perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the wave is taken into account. In the present paper, we have extended th…
Employing the Sagdeev pseudo-potential technique the ion acoustic solitary structures have been investigated in an unmagnetized collisionless plasma consisting of adiabatic warm ions, nonthermal electrons and isothermal positrons. The qualitatively different compositional parameter spaces clearly indicate the existence domains of solitons and double layers with respect to any parameter of the present plasma system. The present system supports the negative potential double layer which always restricts the occurrence of negative potential solitons. The system also supports positive potential dou…
A Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation including the effect of Landau damping is derived to study the propagation of weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive ion acoustic waves in a collisionless unmagnetized plasma consisting of warm adiabatic ions and two different species of electrons at different temperatures. The hotter energetic electron species follows the nonthermal velocity distribution of Cairns et al. [Geophys. Res. Lett. 22, 2709 (1995)] whereas the cooler electron species obeys the Boltzmann distribution. It is found that the coefficient of the nonlinear term of this KdV like evolution …
The formation of the gigantic dust-acoustic rouge waves (DARWs) in an electron depleted unmagnetized opposite polarity dusty plasma system is theoretically observed for the first time. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation (derived by utilizing the reductive perturbation method) has been analytically as well as numerically analyzed to identify the basic features (viz., height, thickness, and modulational instability, etc.) of DARWs. The results obtained form this investigation should be useful in understanding the basic properties of these rouge waves which can predict to be formed in electron de…
The nonlinear dust acoustic waves in unmagnetized dusty plasma which consists of two temperature Boltzmann distributed ions and Boltzmann distributed electrons in spherical dimension investigated and obtained spherical Kadomtsev Petviashvili (SKP) equation and shown that the dust acoustic solitary wave can exist in the SKP equation.
Relative transverse drift (with respect to the ambient magnetic field) between the weakly magnetized electrons and the unmagnetized ions at the lower altitude (80 km) and between the weakly magnetized ions and unmagnetized dust at the higher altitude (90 km) gives rise to the finite Hall conductivity in the Earth's mesosphere. If, on the other hand, the number of free electrons is sparse in the mesosphere and most of the negative charge resides on the weakly magnetized, fine, nanometre sized dust powder and positive charge on the more massive, micron sized, unmagnetized dust, the sign of the H…
The impacts of dust density inhomogeneity and dust size distribution (DSD) on linear dust acoustic (DA) wave propagation have been investigated theoretically in an inhomogeneous unmagnetized dusty plasma having powerlaw DSD. Two different types of wave modes, viz. slow and fast mode, are found to propagate in this inhomogeneous medium. It is shown that the linear dispersion characteristics of the DA waves are substantially affected by the DSD and density inhomogeneity. Also, it is found that the phase velocity increases with increasing dust density.
It is pointed out that electron thermal fluctuations can couple with the ion acoustic mode in an inhomogeneous plasma to generate a low frequency ion time scale electromagnetic wave. This electromagnetic wave can become unstable if the temperature and density gradients are parallel to each other which can be the case in laser-plasmas similar to stellar cores. The comparisons of the present theoretical model with the previous investigations are also presented. The final result is applied to a classical laser induced plasma for illustration.
The electrostatic perturbations in an unmagnetized, non-isothermal ($T_i{\ll}T_e$) electron-ion plasma shear flow are considered. New physical effects, arising due to the non-normality of linear dynamics, are described. It is shown that the velocity shear induces the extraction of the mean flow energy by the acoustic perturbations (ion-sound waves). The influence of the medium dispersion, rising due to the violation of quasineutrality for perturbations, is examined. It is shown that in the course of the evolution ion-sound waves turn into ion plasma oscillations. New class of nonperiodic, elec…
Ion-acoustic modes propagating in unmagnetized dusty plasmas are studied by applying a generic collisionless fluid model. An Eulerian-to-Lagrangean variable transformation leads to a new system of evolution equations, which may be combined into a single (rather complex) equation for the mean ion density. The linear and weakly nonlinear oscillations regimes are studied and their modulational stability is investigated. This study extends known previous results on the Lagrangian description of electron- or ion-acoustic electrostatic plasma modes. The relevance with the description of dust-ion aco…
The propagation of nonlinear electron- acoustic waves (EAWs) in an unmagnetized collision- less plasma system consisting of a cold electron fluid, superthermal hot electrons and stationary ions is investigated. A reductive perturbation method is employed to obtain a modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equa- tion for the first-order potential. The small amplitude electron-acoustic solitary wave, e.g., soliton and dou- ble layer (DL) solutions are presented, and the effects of superthermal electrons on the nature of the solitons are also discussed. But the results shows that the weak stationary EA…
In this paper we consider the influence of dust charge fluctuations on damping of the dust-ion-acoustic waves. Fluid approximation of longitudinal electrostatic waves in unmagnetized plasmas is considered. We show that for a weak acoustic wave the attenuation depends on a phenomenological charging coefficient.
The electrostatic potential of a moving dust grain in a complex plasma with magnetized ions is computed using linear response theory, thereby extending our previous work for unmagnetized plasmas [P. Ludwig et al., New J. Phys. 14, 053016 (2012)]. In addition to the magnetic field, our approach accounts for a finite ion temperature as well as ion-neutral collisions. Our recently introduced code \texttt{Kielstream} is used for an efficient calculation of the dust potential. Increasing the magnetization of the ions, we find that the shape of the potential crucially depends on the Mach number $M$.…
A standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation has been established by using the reductive perturbation method to investigate the propagation of electrostatic dust-acoustic waves, and their modulational instability as well as the formation of localized electrostatic envelope solitons in an electron depleted unmagnetized dusty plasma system comprising opposite polarity dust grains and super-thermal positive ions. The relevant physical plasma parameters (viz., charge, mass, number density of positive and negative dust grains, and super-thermality of the positive ions, etc.) have rigorous impact to re…
The propagation characteristics of small-amplitude dust-acoustic (DA) solitary waves (SWs) and shocks are studied in an unmagnetized dusty plasma with a pair of trapped positive and negative ions. Using the standard reductive perturbation technique with two different scaling of stretched coordinates, the evolution equations for DA SWs and shocks are derived in the forms of complex Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and complex Burgers' equations. The effects of dust charge variation, the dust thermal pressure, and the ratios of positive to negative ion number densities as well as the free to trapped ion …
An investigation of dust-acoustic solitary waves in unmagnetized dusty plasma whose constituents are inertial charged dust grains, Boltzmannian electrons and nonthermal ions has been conducted. The pseudo potential as well as the reductive perturbation methods have been used in high and small amplitude limits. The existence of solitary waves of a positive as well as a negative potential is reported.
The propagation of terahertz waves in a dust acoustic wave is investigated numerically. By assuming a sinus profile of the dust number density in the dust acoustic waves, the transmission properties are calculated using finite difference time domain method. It shows that the dust acoustic wave can function similarly as a Bragg filter to block the terahertz waves of a certain wavelength. The bandwidth of the filter depends on the density profile of the dust acoustic wave.
Nonlinear ion-acoustic cnoidal wave structures are studied in an unmagnetized quantum plasma. Using the reductive perturbation method, a Korteweg-de Vries equation is derived for appropriate boundary conditions and nonlinear periodic wave solutions are obtained. The corresponding analytical solution and numerical plots of the ion-acoustic cnoidal waves and solitons in the phase plane are presented using the Sagdeev pseudo-potential approach. The variations in the nonlinear potential of the ion-acoustic cnoidal waves are studied at different values of quantum parameter $H_{e}$ which is the rati…
In this article we are going to consider dust acoustic wave in dusty plasma whose constituents are inertial negative charged dust particles, Boltzmann distributed electrons and non-thermal distributed ions with variable dust charge. Using reductive perturbation method, we have obtained Korteweg-de Veries (kdv) and modified kdv(mkdv) equations. A Sagdeev potential for the system and stability conditions for solitonic solution are also derived.
An analytical model is presented for the description of nonlinear dust-ion-acoustic waves propagating in an unmagnetized, collisionless, three component plasma composed of electrons, ions and inertial dust grains. The formulation relies on a Lagrangean approach of the plasma fluid model. The modulational stability of the wave amplitude is investigated. Different types of localized envelope electrostatic excitations are shown to exist.
The nonlinear propagation of dust acoustic solitary waves (DASWs) in an unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged dust fluid Boltzmann distributed electrons with two different temperatures Boltzmann distributed ions with two distinct temperatures are investigated. By employing the reductive perturbation technique that is valid for a small but finite amplitude limit the Korteweg de Vries (K-dV) equation have been derived. Our results reveal that the main quantities of DASWs (such as amplitude and width) are affected by two different temperatures electrons (as well as ions) temp…
The propagation characteristics and interactions between the dust acoustic (DA) one and multi solitons in an unmagnetized dusty plasmas composing negatively charged mobile dust, Boltzmann distributed electrons, nonextensive distributed cold and nonthermal distributed hot ions are studied. The well known extended Poincar Lighthill Kuo (PLK) method is employed to derive the two sided Korteweg de Vries (KdV) equations. The solutions of KdV equations are constructed using the Hirota method both for one and multi solitons. The phase shifts are determined for the interaction of one, two and three DA…
Perpendicular electron dynamics and the associated collisions are discussed in relation to the collisional drift wave instability. In addition, the limit of small parallel wave numbers of this instability is studied and it is shown to yield a reduced wave frequency. It is also shown that in this case the growth rate in fact {\em decreases} for smaller parallel wave numbers, instead of growing proportional to $1/k_z^2$. As a result, the growth rate appears to be angle dependent and to reach a maximum for some specific direction of propagation. The explanation for this strange behavior is given.…
A phenomenological model using fluid theory is developed to show that the decay of two seemingly independent nonlinear structures namely the dust void and dust soliton strongly depends on the plasma ionization parameter in an unmagnetized complex plasma system. Numerical solution of model equations has shown that the evolution of dust voids and their subsequent decay in a time frame is intimately related with the ionization parameter. A similar result also holds good in case of dust solitons where stability of soliton is found to depend critically upon ionization parameter. Most importantly, i…
We present a theoretical and numerical study of the self-steepening and shock formation of large-amplitude dust ion-acoustic waves (DIAWs) in dusty plasmas. We compare the non-dispersive two fluid model, which predicts the formation of large amplitude compressive and rarefactive dust ion-acoustic (DIA) shocks, with Vlasov/fluid simulations where ions are treated kinetically while a Boltzmann distribution is assumed for the electrons.
It is shown that the grain mass fluctuation, which is due to the grain sputtering by the attracted ions, may be at the root of a new instability in infinite, unmagnetized and homogeneous dusty plasmas. The growth rate is determined in the framework of two plasma models, viz., a cold and electron depleted plasma, and a plasma where electrons and ions are taken Boltzmannian. This instability may affect the Jeans as well as the agglomeration instabilities.
We examine linear dust acoustic waves (DAWs) in a dusty plasma with strongly correlated dust grains, and discuss possibility of a twisted DA vortex beam carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM). For our purposes, we use the Boltzmann distributed electron and ion density perturbations, the dust continuity and generalized viscoelastic dust momentum equations, and Poisson's equation to obtain a dispersion relation for the modified DAWs. The effects of the polarization force, strong dust couplings, and dust charge fluctuations on the DAW spectrum are examined. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the D…
Low frequency dust acoustic waves (DAW) were excited in a laboratory argon dusty plasma by modulating the discharge voltage with a low frequency AC signal. Metallic graphite particles were used as dust grains and a digital FFT technique was used to obtain dispersion characteristics. The experimental dispersion relation shows the reduction of phase velocity and a regime where $\partial ω/\partial k < 0$. A comparison is made with existing theoretical model.
We study the nonlinear propagation of dust-ion acoustic (DIA) solitary waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma which consists of electrons, both positive and negative ions and negatively charged immobile dust grains. Starting from a set of hydrodynamic equations with the ion thermal pressures and ion kinematic viscosities included, and using a standard reductive perturbation method, the Kadomtsev-Petviashivili Burgers (KPB) equation is derived, which governs the evolution of DIA shocks. A stationary solution of the KPB equation is obtained and its properties are analysed with different plasma nu…

We have used the Sagdeev pseudo-potential method to discuss the arbitrary amplitude steady state dust acoustic solitary structures in the present plasma system. We have designed a computational scheme to draw the existence domains of different dust acoustic solitary structures. We have observed only negative potential solitary…

The reductive perturbation method (which is valid for a small, but finite amplitude limit) is employed to derive the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Two types of modes (namely, fast and slow dust-acoustic (DA) modes) have been observed. The conditions for the modulational instability (MI) and its growth rate …
The Sagdeev pseudo-potential technique and the analytic theory developed by Das et al. [J. Plasma Phys. 78, 565 (2012)] have been used to investigate the dust ion acoustic solitary structures at the acoustic speed in a collisionless unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged static dust grains, adiabatic warm ions, nonthermal electrons and isothermal positrons. The present system supports both positive and negative potential solitary waves at the acoustic speed, but the system does not support the coexistence of solitary structures of opposite polarity at the acoustic speed. The dispersion properties of low frequency dust acoustic waves in the strong coupling regime are investigated experimentally in an argon plasma embedded with a mixture of kaolin and $MnO_2$ dust particles. The neutral pressure is varied over a wide range to change the collisional properties of the dusty plasma. In the low collisional regime the turnover of the dispersion curve at higher wave numbers and the resultant region of $\partialω/\partial k < 0$ are identified as signatures of dust-dust correlations. In the high collisional regime dust neutral collisions produce a similar effect and pr…
We present a fully nonlinear theory for dust acoustic (DA) shocks and DA solitary pulses in a strongly coupled dusty plasma, which have been recently observed experimentally by Heinrich et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 115002 (2009)], Teng et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 245005 (2009)], and Bandyopadhyay et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 065006 (2008)]. For this purpose, we use a generalized hydrodynamic model for the strongly coupled dust grains, accounting for arbitrary large amplitude dust number density compressions and potential distributions associated with fully nonlinear nonstationary DA waves.…
The standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) is one of the elegant equations to find the information about the modulational instability criteria of dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) waves (DIAWs) and associated DIA rogue waves (DIARWs) in a three-component dusty plasma medium having inertialess super-thermal kappa distributed electrons, and inertial warm positive ions and negative dust grains. It can be seen that under the consideration of inertial warm ions along with inertial negatively charged dust grains, the plasma system supports both fast and slow DIA modes. The charge state and number dens…
A precise theoretical investigation has been made on dust-acoustic (DA) waves (DAWs) in a four components dusty plasma medium having inertial warm adiabatic dust grains and inertialess $q$-distributed electrons as well as isothermal ions and positrons. The nonlinear and dispersive parameters of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE), which develops by using reductive perturbations technique, have been used to recognize the stable and unstable parametric regions of the DAWs as well as associated DA rogue waves (DARWs) in the unstable parametric regime of the DAWs. It is pointed out that the unmagnetized inhomogeneous plasmas can support a low frequency electromagnetic ion wave as a normal mode like Alfven wave of magnetized plasmas. But this is a coupled mode produced by the mixing of longitudinal and transverse components of perturbed electric field due to density inhomogeneity. The ion acoustic wave does not remain electrostatic in non-uniform plasmas. On the other hand, a low frequency electrostatic wave can also exist in the pure electron plasmas. But the magnetic field fluctuations in both electron as well as in electron-ion plasmas are coupled wit…
The modulational instability (MI) of the dust-acoustic waves (DAWs) in an electron-positron-ion-dust plasma (containing super-thermal electrons, positrons and ions along with negatively charged adiabatic dust grains) is investigated by the analysis of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). To derive the NLSE, the reductive perturbation method has been employed. Two different parametric regions for stable and unstable DAWs are observed. The presence of super-thermal electrons, positrons and ions significantly modifies both the stable and unstable regions. The critical wave number $k_c$ (at …
We consider influence of finite size of ions on properties of classic plasmas. We focus our attention on the ion sound for electron-ion plasmas. We also consider dusty plasmas, where we account finite size of ions and particles of dust and consider the dispersion of dust acoustic waves. Finite size of particles affects classical plasma properties. Finite size of particles gives considerable contribution for small wave lengths, which is area of appearing of quantum effects. Consequently, it is very important to consider finite size of ions in quantum plasmas as well.
A rigorous theoretical investigation is made to study the characteristics of dust-acoustic (DA) waves (DAWs) in an electron depleted unmagnetized opposite polarity dusty plasma system that contains super-thermal ($κ$-distributed) ions, mobile positively and negatively charged dust grains for the first time. The reductive perturbation method is employed to obtain the NLSE to explore the modulational instability (MI) conditions for DAWs as well as the formation and characteristics of gigantic rogue waves. A two-dimensional generalized hydrodynamics (GH) model is developed to study the full spectrum of both longitudinal and transverse dust acoustic waves (DAW) in strongly coupled complex (dusty) plasmas, with memory-function-formalism being implemented to enforce high-frequency sum rules. Results are compared with earlier theories (such as quasi-localized charge approximation and its extended version) and with a self-consistent Brownian dynamics simulation. It is found that the GH approach provides good account, not only for dispersion relations, but also for damping rates of the DAW modes in a …
A theoretical investigation has been made on modulational instability (MI) and dust-acoustic (DA) rogue waves (DARWs) in a four dusty plasma medium containing inertial negatively charged massive heavy (light) cold (hot) dust grains as well as super-thermal electrons and non-thermal ions. The reductive perturbation method is used to derive the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, and two types of modes, namely fast and slow DA modes, have been observed. The conditions for the MI and the formation of associated DARWs are found to be significantly modified by the effects of non-thermality of ions ($α$…
The nonlinear propagation of small but finite amplitude dust ion-acoustic waves (DIAWs) in an ion-beam driven plasma with Boltzmannian electrons, positive ions and stationary charged dust grains, is studied by using the standard reductive perturbation technique (RPT). It is shown that there exist two critical values $(γ_{c1}$ and $γ_{c2})$ of ion-beam to ion phase speed ratio $(γ)$, beyond which the beam generated solitons are not possible. The effects of the parameters, namely $γ$, the ratio of the ion-beam to plasma ion density $(μ_{i})$, the dust to ion density ratio $(μ_{d})$ as well as th…
The formation of dust ion-acoustic shocks (DIASs) in a four-component quantum plasma whose constituents are electrons, both positive and negative ions and immobile charged dust grains, is studied. The effects of both the dissipation due to kinematic viscosity and the dispersion caused by the charge separation as well as the quantum tunneling due to the Bohm potential are taken into account. The propagation of small but finite amplitude dust ion-acoustic waves (DIAWs) is governed by the Korteweg-de Vries-Burger (KdVB) equation which exhibits both oscillatory and monotonic shocks depending not o…
An experimental study of Ion Acoustic (IA) wave propagation is performed to investigate the effect of neutral density for argon plasma in an unmagnetized linear plasma device. The neutral density is varied by changing the neutral pressure, which in turn allows the change in ion-neutral, and electron-neutral collision mean free path. The collisions of plasma species with neutrals are found to modify the IA wave characteristics such as the wave amplitude, velocity, and propagation length. Unlike the earlier reported work where neutrals tend to heavily damp IA wave in the frequency regime ω<ν_in …
Unmagnetized collisionless plasma system consisting of positive- and negative ions, and electrons are considered to study the head-on collision of ion-acoustic shock waves (IASWs) and its effects on the formation of shock (monotonic and oscillatory) waves and phase shift. The soliton solution is derived from the two-sided Korteweg-de Vries Burger (KdVB) equations. The KdVB equations are obtained using extend Poincare-Lighthill-Kuo (ePLK) method. It is assumed that the negative ions are immobile and the electrons follow the Boltzmann energy distribution in the plasma. The effects of plasma para…
A theoretical investigation of the modulational instability (MI) of dust-acoustic waves (DAWs) by deriving a nonlinear Schrödinger equation in an electron depleted opposite polarity dusty plasma system containing non-extensive positive ions has been presented. The conditions for MI of DAWs and formation of envelope solitons have been investigated. The sub-extensivity and super-extensivity of positive ions are seen to change the stable and unstable parametric regimes of DAWs. The addition of dust grains causes to change the width of both bright and dark envelope solitons. The findings of this s…
The synchronization of dust acoustic waves to an external periodic source is studied in the framework of a driven Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation that takes into account the appropriate nonlinear and dispersive nature of low frequency waves in a dusty plasma medium. For a spatio-temporally varying source term the system is shown to demonstrate harmonic (1:1) and super-harmonic (1:2) synchronized states. The existence domains of these states are delineated in the form of Arnold tongue diagrams in the parametric space of the forcing amplitude and forcing frequency and their resemblance to som…
We report on experimental observations of flow induced large amplitude dust-acoustic shock waves (DASW) in a complex plasma. The experiments have been carried out in a $Π$ shaped DC glow discharge experimental device using kaolin particles as the dust component in a background of Argon plasma. A strong supersonic flow of the dust fluid is induced by adjusting the pumping speed and neutral gas flow into the device. An isolated copper wire mounted on the cathode acts as a potential barrier to the flow of dust particles. A sudden change of gas flow rate is used to trigger the onset of high veloci…
Drift wave is a prominent mode of a magnetized plasma of inhomogeneous density. It plays an important role in the transport of particles, energy and momentum perpendicular to the ambient magnetic field. The frequency of this mode is governed by the inhomogeneity scale length and is much lower than the typical homogeneous plasma modes involving ions and electrons. In this work the possibility of coupling of this particular mode with the low frequency modes of a dusty plasma medium is considered.
The influence of a charge-gradient force, associated with variations of the particle charge in response to external perturbations, on the propagation of low-frequency waves in weakly coupled complex (dusty) plasmas is investigated. The magnitude of the effect is compared with that due to polarization force, studied previously in the literature. Numerical estimates are presented for the regime, where the orbital motion limited approach to particle charging is relevant.
Linear and nonlinear ion-acoustic waves are studied in a fluid model for non-relativistic, unmagnetized quantum plasma with electrons with an arbitrary degeneracy degree. The equation of state for electrons follows from a local Fermi-Dirac distribution function and apply equally well both to fully degenerate or classical, non-degenerate limits. Ions are assumed to be cold. Quantum diffraction effects through the Bohm potential are also taken into account. A general coupling parameter valid for dilute and dense plasmas is proposed. The linear dispersion relation of the ion-acoustic waves is obt…
The nonlinear propagation of dust-acoustic (DA) waves in a magnetized dusty plasma with a pair of trapped ions is investigated. Starting from a set of hydrodynamic equations for massive dust fluids as well as kinetic Vlasov equations for ions, and applying the reductive perturbation technique, a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV)-like equation with a complex coefficient of nonlinearity is derived, which governs the evolution of small-amplitude DA waves in plasmas. The complex coefficient arises due to vortex-like distributions of both positive and negative ions. An analytical as well as numerical solutio…
