Peculiar properties of many classical and quantum systems can be related to, or derived from those of a free particle. In this way we explain the appearance and peculiarities of the exotic nonlinear Poincaré supersymmetry in reflectionless and finite-gap quantum systems related to the Korteweg-de Vries equation. The same approach is used to explain the origin and the nature of nonlinear symmetries in the perfectly invisible $\mathcal{PT}$-regularized conformal and superconformal mechanics systems.
Supersymmetry is formulated for integrable models based on the $sl(2|1)$ loop algebra endowed with a principal gradation. The symmetry transformations which have half-integer grades generate supersymmetry. The $sl(2|1)$ loop algebra leads to N=2 supersymmetric mKdV and sinh-Gordon equations. The corresponding N=1 mKdV and sinh-Gordon equations are obtained via reduction induced by twisted automorphism. Our method allows for a description of a non-local symmetry structure of supersymmetric integrable models.
We investigate a special class of the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric quantum models being perfectly invisible zero-gap systems with a unique bound state at the very edge of continuous spectrum of scattering states. The family includes the $\mathcal{PT}$-regularized two particle Calogero systems (conformal quantum mechanics models of de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan) and their rational extensions whose potentials satisfy equations of the KdV hierarchy and exhibit, particularly, a behaviour typical for extreme waves. We show that the two simplest Hamiltonians from the Calogero subfamily determine the fluctuati…
We construct a fermion system in a multi-kink-antikink soliton background, and present in an explicit form all its trapped configurations (bound state solutions) as well as scattering states. This is achieved by exploiting an exotic N=4 centrally extended nonlinear supersymmetry of completely isospectral pairs of reflectionless Schrodinger systems with potentials to be n-soliton solutions for the Korteweg-de Vries equation. The obtained reflectionless Dirac system with a position-dependent mass is shown to possess its own exotic nonlinear supersymmetry associated with the matrix Lax-Novikov op…
We study the supersymmetry projection rules on exotic branes in type II string theories and M-theory. They justify the validity of the exotic duality between standard branes and exotic branes of codimension two. By virtue of the supersymmetry projection rules on various branes, we can consider a system that involves multiple non-parallel exotic branes in the nongeometric background.
By applying Darboux-Crum transformations to the quantum one-gap Lame system, we introduce an arbitrary countable number of bound states into forbidden bands. The perturbed potentials are reflectionless and contain two types of soliton defects in the periodic background. The bound states with finite number of nodes are supported in the lower forbidden band by the periodicity defects of the potential well type, while the pulse type bound states in the gap have infinite number of nodes and are trapped by defects of the compression modulations nature. We investigate the exotic nonlinear N=4 supers…
A covariant set of linear differential field equations, describing an N=1 supersymmetric anyon system in (2+1)D, is proposed in terms of Wigner's deformation of the bosonic Heisenberg algebra. The non-relativistic ``Jackiw-Nair'' limit extracts the ordinary bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom from the Heisenberg-Wigner algebra. It yields first-order, non-relativistic wave equations for a spinning particle on the non-commutative plane that admits a Galilean exotic planar N=1 supersymmetry.
We study supersymmetry of a self-isospectral one-gap Poschl-Teller system in the light of a mirror symmetry that is based on spatial and shift reflections. The revealed exotic, partially broken nonlinear supersymmetry admits seven alternatives for a grading operator. One of its local, first order supercharges may be identified as a Hamiltonian of an associated one-gap, non-periodic Bogoliubov-de Gennes system. The latter possesses a nonlinear supersymmetric structure, in which any of the three non-local generators of a Clifford algebra may be chosen as the grading operator. We find that the su…
We elaborate on integrable dynamical systems from scalar-gravity Lagrangians that include the leading dilaton tadpole potentials of broken supersymmetry. In the static Dudas-Mourad compactifications from ten to nine dimensions, which rest on these leading potentials, the string coupling and the space-time curvature become unbounded in some regions of the internal space. On the other hand, the string coupling remains bounded in several corresponding solutions of these integrable models. One can thus identify corrected potential shapes that could grant these features generically when supersymmet…
We analyse various two dimensional theories arising from compactification of type II and heterotic string theory on asymmetric orbifolds. We find extra supersymmetry generators arising from twisted sectors, giving rise to exotic supersymmetry algebras. Among others we discover new cases with a large number of supercharges, such as $\mathcal{N}=(20,8)$, $\mathcal{N}=(24,8)$, $\mathcal{N}=(32,0)$, $\mathcal{N}=(24,24)$ and $\mathcal{N}=(48,0)$.
Classical and quantum symmetries of super $p$-branes preserving exotic 3/4 fraction of $N=1 D=4$ global supersymmetry are studied. Classical realization of the algebra of global and world-volume symmetries is constructed and its quantum generalizations are analyzed. Established is that the status of the conformal supersymmetry $OSp(1|8)$ as a proper quantum symmetry of brane depends both on the choice of its vacuum state and the associated ordering of $\hat{\cal Q}$ and $\hat{\cal P}$ operators.
We display a new integrable perturbation for both N=1 and N=2 superconformal minimal models. These perturbations break supersymmetry explicitly. Their existence was expected on the basis of the classification of integrable perturbations of conformal field theories in terms of distinct classical KdV type hierarchies sharing a common second Hamiltonian structure.
Utilizing techniques suggested by the recently obtained construction of off-shell spinning particles, we propose the arbitrary $N$-extension of supersymmetry for the KdV system. It is further suggested that the ${\aleph}_0$ extension for the SKdV system provides a paradigm for {\underline {all}} supersymmetric completely integrable systems.
We consider the two most general families of the (1+1)D Dirac systems with transparent scalar potentials, and two related families of the paired reflectionless Schrodinger operators. The ordinary N=2 supersymmetry for such Schrodinger pairs is enlarged up to an exotic N=4 nonlinear centrally extended supersymmetric structure, which involves two bosonic integrals composed from the Lax-Novikov operators for the stationary Korteweg-de Vries hierarchy. Each associated single Dirac system displays a proper N=2 nonlinear supersymmetry with a non-standard grading operator. One of the two families of …
Boundary integrable models with N=2 supersymmetry are considered. For the simplest boundary N=2 superconformal minimal model with a Chebyshev bulk perturbation we show explicitly how fermionic boundary degrees of freedom arise naturally in the boundary perturbation in order to maintain integrability and N=2 supersymmetry. A new boundary reflection matrix is obtained for this model and N=2 boundary superalgebra is studied. A factorized scattering theory is proposed for a N=2 supersymmetric extension of the boundary sine-Gordon model with either (i) fermionic or (ii) bosonic and fermionic bounda…
The algebraic approach is employed to formulate N=2 supersymmetry transformations in the context of integrable systems based on loop superalgebras $\hat{\rm sl}(p+1,p), p \ge 1$ with homogeneous gradation. We work with extended integrable hierarchies, which contain supersymmetric AKNS and Lund-Regge sectors. We derive the one-soliton solution for $p=1$ which solves positive and negative evolution equations of the N=2 supersymmetric model.
Quantum integrable models that possess $N=2$ supersymmetry are investigated on the half-space. Conformal perturbation theory is used to identify some $N=2$ supersymmetric boundary integrable models, and the effective boundary Landau-Ginzburg formulations are constructed. It is found that $N=2$ supersymmetry largely determines the boundary action in terms of the bulk, and in particular, the boundary bosonic potential is $|W|^2$, where $W$ is the bulk superpotential. Supersymmetry is also investigated using the affine quantum group symmetry of exact scattering matrices, and the affine quantum gr…
We investigate the possibility to construct extended parafermionic conformal algebras whose generating current has spin $1+\frac{1}{K}$, generalizing the superconformal (spin 3/2) and the Fateev Zamolodchikov (spin 4/3) algebras. Models invariant under such algebras would possess $Z_K$ exotic supersymmetries satisfying (supercharge)$^K$ = (momentum). However, we show that for $K=4$ this new algebra allows only for models at $c=1$, for $K=5$ it is a trivial rephrasing of the ordinary $Z_5$ parafermionic model, for $K=6,7$ (and, requiring unitarity, for all larger $K$) such algebras do not exist…
The general solutions in the models of closed and open superstring and super p-branes with exotic fractions of the N=1 supersymmetry are considered and the spontaneously broken character of the $OSp(1,2M)$ symmetry of the models is established. It is shown that extending these models by Wess-Zumino terms generates the Dirichlet boundary conditions for superstring and super p-branes. Using the generalized Wess-Zumino terms new $OSp(1,2M)$ invariant super p-brane and Dp-brane-like actions preserving $\frac{M-1}{M}$ fraction of supersymmetry are proposed. For M=32 these models suggest new superbr…
We suggest SU(5)$'$ in the hidden sector toward a possible gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario for removing the SUSY flavor problem, with an example constructed in $\Z_{12-I}$ with three families. The example we present has the Pati-Salam type classification of particles in the observable sector and has no exotics at low energy. We point out that six or seven very light pairs of ${\bf 5}'$ and $\bar{\bf 5}'$ out of ten vectorlike $\five'$ and $\fiveb'$ pairs of SU(5)$'$ is achievable, leading to a possibility of an unstable supersymmetry breaking vacuum. The possibility of different…
We give the quantum analogue of a recently introduced electron model which generalizes the Hubbard model with additional correlated hopping terms and electron pair hopping. The model contains two independent parameters and is invariant with respect to the quantum superalgebra $U_q(gl(2|1))$. It is integrable in one dimension by means of the quantum inverse scattering method.
Some time ago, Thies et al. showed that the Gross-Neveu model with a bare mass term possesses a kink-antikink crystalline phase. Corresponding self-consistent solutions, known earlier in polymer physics, are described by a self-isospectral pair of one-gap periodic Lame potentials with a Darboux displacement depending on the bare mass. We study an unusual supersymmetry of such a second order Lame system, and show that the associated first order Bogoliubov-de Gennes Hamiltonian possesses the own nonlinear supersymmetry. The Witten index is ascertained to be zero for both of the related exotic su…
We study some of the algebraic properties of the non-relativistic monopole. We find that we can construct theories that possess an exotic conserved fermionic charge that squares to the Casimir of the rotation group, yet do not possess an ordinary supersymmetry. This is in contrast to previous known examples with such exotic fermionic charges. We proceed to show that the presence of the exotic fermionic charge in the non-supersymmetric theory can nonetheless be understood using supersymmetric techniques, providing yet another example of the usefulness of supersymmetry in understanding non-super…
We review some links between Lie-theoretic polytopes and field theories in physics, which were proposed in the 1990's. A basic ingredient is the Coxeter Plane, whose relation to integrable systems and the Stokes Phenomenon has only recently come to light. We use this to give a systematic mathematical treatment, which gives further support to the physical proposals. This article is based on a talk which was scheduled to be given at the workshop "Representations of Discrete Groups and Geometric Topology on Manifolds", Josai University, 12-13 March 2020.
Two known 2-dim SUSY quantum mechanical constructions - the direct generalization of SUSY with first-order supercharges and Higher order SUSY with second order supercharges - are combined for a class of 2-dim quantum models, which {\it are not amenable} to separation of variables. The appropriate classical limit of quantum systems allows us to construct SUSY-extensions of original classical scalar Hamiltonians. Special emphasis is placed on the symmetry properties of the models thus obtained - the explicit expressions of quantum symmetry operators and of classical integrals of motion are given…
Quantum integrable models that possess $N=2$ supersymmetry are investigated on the half-space. Conformal perturbation theory is used to identify some $N=2$ supersymmetric boundary integrable models, and the effective boundary Landau-Ginzburg actions are constructed. It is found that $N=2$ supersymmetry largely determines the boundary action in terms of the bulk, and in particular, the boundary bosonic potential is $|W|^2$, where $W$ is the bulk superpotential. Supersymmetry is also discussed from the perspective of the affine quantum group symmetry of exact scattering matrices, and exact $N=2$…
Algebra of the constraints of twistor-like p-branes restoring 3/4 fraction of the spontaneously broken D=4 N=1 supersymmetry is studied using the conversion method. Classical and quantum realizations of the BRST charge, unified superalgebra of the global generalized superconformal OSp(1|8) and Virasoro and Weyl symmetries are constructed. It is shown that the quantum Hermitian BRST charge is nilpotent and the quantized OSp(1|8) superalgebra is closed.
The Hamiltonian of the simplest super $p$-brane model preserving 3/4 of the D=4 N=1 supersymmetry in the centrally extended symplectic superspace is derived and its symmetries are described. The constraints of the model are covariantly separated into the first- and the second-class sets and the Dirac brackets (D.B.) are constructed. We show the D.B. noncommutativity of the super $p$-brane coordinates and find the D.B. realization of the $OSp(1|8)$ superalgebra. Established is the coincidence of the D.B. and Poisson bracket realizations of the $OSp(1|8)$ superalgebra on the constraint surface a…
A procedure allowing for the construction of Lorentz invariant integrable models living in d+1 dimensional space-time and with an n dimensional target space is provided. Here, integrability is understood as the existence of the generalized zero-curvature formulation and infinitely many conserved quantities. A close relation between the Lagrange density of the integrable models and the pullback of the pertinent volume form on target space is established. Moreover, we show that the conserved currents are Noether currents generated by the volume preserving diffeomorphisms. Further, we show how su…
We present an N=2-supersymmetric mechanical system whose bosonic sector, with two degrees of freedom, stems from the reduction of an SU(2) Yang-Mills theory with the assumption of spatially homogeneous field configurations and a particular ansatz imposed on the gauge potentials in the dimensional reduction procedure. The Painleve test is adopted to discuss integrability and we focus on the role of supersymmetry and parity invariance in two space dimensions for the attainment of integrable or chaotic models. Our conclusion is that the relationships among the parameters imposed by supersymmetry …
We propose a natural $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded generalisation of $d=2$, $\mathcal{N}=(1,1)$ supersymmetry and construct a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-space realisation thereof. Due to the grading, the supercharges close with respect to, in the classical language, a commutator rather than an anticommutator. This is then used to build classical (linear and non-linear) sigma models that exhibit this novel supersymmetry via mimicking standard superspace methods. The fields in our models are bosons, right-handed and left-handed Majorana-Weyl spinors, and exotic bosons. The bosons commute with …
In this letter, we study systematically the general properties of the $B$-extension of any integrable model. In addition to discussing the general properties of Hamiltonians, Hamiltonian structures etc, we also clarify the origin of "exotic" charges in such models. We show that, in such models, there exist at least two sets of non-local conserved charges (and more if $N>1$ supersymmetry is present) and that the "exotic" charges are part of this non-local charge hierarchy. The construction of these non-local charges from the Lax operator is explained.
Integrability and supersymmetry of the supersymmetric extension of the sine-Gordon theory on a half-line are examined and the boundary potential which preserves both the integrability and supersymmetry on the bulk is derived. It appears that unlike the boundary bosonic sine-Gordon theory, integrability and supersymmetry strongly restrict the form and parameters of the boundary potential, so that no free parameter in the boundary term is allowed up to a choice of signs.
The formalism of integrable mappings is applied to the problem of constructing hierarchies of $(1+2)$ dimensional integrable systems in the $(2|2)$ superspace. We find new supersymmetric integrable mappings and corresponding to them new hierarchies of integrable systems which, at the reduction to the $(1|2)$ superspace, possess $N=2$ supersymmetry. The general formulae obtained for the hierarchies are used to explicitly derive their first nontrivial equations possessing a manifest $N=2$ supersymmetry. New bosonic substitutions and hierarchies are obtained from the supersymmetric counterparts i…
We study the extended supersymmetric integrable hierarchy underlying the Pohlmeyer reduction of superstring sigma models on semi-symmetric superspaces F/G. This integrable hierarchy is constructed by coupling two copies of the homogeneous integrable hierarchy associated to the loop Lie superalgebra extension f of the Lie superalgebra f of F and this is done by means of the algebraic dressing technique and a Riemann-Hilbert factorization problem. By using the Drinfeld-Sokolov procedure we construct explicitly, a set of 2D spin \pm1/2 conserved supercharges generating supersymmetry flows in the …
Integrable quantum mechanical systems for neutral particles with spin $\frac12$ and nontrivial dipole momentum are classified. It is demonstrated that such systems give rise to new exactly solvable problems of quantum mechanics with clear physical content. Solutions for three of them are given in explicit form. The related symmetry algebras and superalgebras are discussed. The presented classification is restricted to two-dimensional systems which admit matrix integrals of motion linear in momenta.
We consider a class of models in which supersymmetry breaking is communicated dominantly via a U'(1) gauge interaction, which also helps solve the μproblem. Such models can emerge naturally in top-down constructions and are a version of split supersymmetry. The spectrum contains heavy sfermions, Higgsinos, exotics, and Z' ~ 10-100 TeV; light gauginos ~ 100-1000 GeV; a light Higgs ~ 140 GeV; and a light singlino. A specific set of U'(1) charges and exotics is analyzed, and we present five benchmark models. Implications for the gluino lifetime, cold dark matter, and the gravitino and neutrino ma…
We show that the Ginzburg-Landau expansion of the grand potential for the Bogoliubov-de Gennes Hamiltonian is determined by the integrable nonlinear equations of the AKNS hierarchy, and that this provides the natural mathematical framework for a hidden nonlinear quantum mechanical supersymmetry underlying the dynamics.
We obtain off-critical (elliptic) Boltzmann weights for lattice models whose continuum limits correspond to massive, $N=2$ supersymmetric, quantum integrable field theories. We also compute the free energies of these models and show that they are analytic in the region of parameter space where we believe that the supersymmetry is unbroken. While the supersymmetry is not directly realized on the lattice, there is still a very close connection between the models described here and topological lattice models. A simple example is discussed in detail and some corner transfer matrix computations are…
We follow the point of view that superstring theory, as the theory of quantum gravity in the number of spacetime dimensions bigger than 4, serves as mathematics for both, 4 dimensional QG and exotic smoothness on open 4-manifolds. Extra-dimensions, supersymmetry or some other string techniques, belong to the mathematical toolkit suitable for the above purposes. Physics in dimension 4 is reached via exotic 4-geometries on $\mathbb{R}^4$. In the paper we discuss the techniques of exact superstring backgrounds, CFT and $SU(2)_k$ WZW models, as suitable for the description of effects assigned to t…
Inozemtsev models are classically integrable multi-particle dynamical systems related to Calogero-Moser models. Because of the additional q^6 (rational models) or sin^2(2q) (trigonometric models) potentials, their quantum versions are not exactly solvable in contrast with Calogero-Moser models. We show that quantum Inozemtsev models can be deformed to be a widest class of partly solvable (or quasi-exactly solvable) multi-particle dynamical systems. They posses N-fold supersymmetry which is equivalent to quasi-exact solvability. A new method for identifying and solving quasi-exactly solvable sy…
We extend Seiberg's qualitative picture of the behavior of supersymmetric QCD to nonsupersymmetric models by adding soft supersymmetry breaking terms. In this way, we recover the standard vacuum of QCD with $N_f$ flavors and $N_c$ colors when $N_f < N_c$. However, for $N_f \geq N_c$, we find new exotic states---new vacua with spontaneously broken baryon number for $N_f = N_c$, and a vacuum state with unbroken chiral symmetry for $N_f > N_c$. These exotic vacua contain massless composite fermions and, in some cases, dynamically generated gauge bosons. In particular Seiberg's electric-magnetic d…
We analyse quench processes in two dimensional quantum field theories with infinite number of conservation laws which also include fermionic charges that close a $N=1$ supersymmetric algebra. While in general the quench protocol induces a breaking of supersymmetry, we show that there are particular initial states which ensure the persistence of supersymmetry also for the dynamics out of equilibrium. We discuss the conditions that identify such states and, as application, we present the significant cases of the Tricritical Ising Model and the Sine-Gordon model at its supersymmetric point. We al…
I discuss in this paper the continuum limit of integrable spin chains based on the superalgebras sl(N/K). The general conclusion is that, with the full ``supersymmetry'', none of these models is relativistic. When the supersymmetry is broken by the generator of the sub u(1), Gross Neveu models of various types are obtained. For instance, in the case of sl(N/K) with a typical fermionic representation on every site, the continuum limit is the GN model with N colors and K flavors. In the case of sl(N/1) and atypical representations of spin j, a close cousin of the GN model with N colors, j flavor…
We consider radially twisted nanotubes in the low-energy approximation where the dynamics is governed by a one-dimensional Dirac equation. The mechanical deformation of the nanotubes is reflected by the presence of an effective vector potential. We discuss twisted carbon and boron-nitride nanotubes, where deformations give rise to periodic and nonperiodic finite-gap Hamiltonians. The intimate relation of these systems with the integrable Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur hierarchy is exploited in the study of their spectral properties as well as in the computation of the (local) density of states. We…
We consider the classical integrable structure of two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with target space three-dimensional Schrodinger spacetimes. There are the two descriptions to describe the classical dynamics: 1) the left description based on SL(2,R)_L and 2) the right description based on U(1)_R. We have shown the sl(2,R)_L Yangian and q-deformed Poincare algebras associated with them. We proceed to argue an infinite-dimensional extension of the q-deformed Poincare algebra. The corresponding charges are constructed by using a non-local map from the flat conserved currents related to th…
We give an intrinsic definition of the special geometry which arises in global N=2 supersymmetry in four dimensions. The base of an algebraic integrable system exhibits this geometry, and with an integrality hypothesis any special Kahler manifold is so related to an integrable system. The cotangent bundle of a special Kahler manifold carries a hyperkahler metric. We also define special geometry in supergravity in terms of the special geometry in global supersymmetry.
The $(4,0)$ theory in six dimensions is an exotic theory of supergravity that has been argued to emerge as the strong coupling limit of theories having $N=8$ supergravity as their low energy effective theory in five spacetime dimensions. It has maximal supersymmetry and is superconformal. Very little is known about this intriguing theory. While the spectrum of fields occurring in its description has been given and their equations of motion in the absence of interactions have been written down, no action principle has been formulated, even in the free case. We extend here previous analyses by w…
We study a reflectionless PT-symmetric quantum system described by the pair of complexified Scarf II potentials mutually displaced in the half of their pure imaginary period. Analyzing the rich set of intertwining discrete symmetries of the pair, we find an exotic supersymmetric structure based on three matrix differential operators that encode all the properties of the system, including its reflectionless (finite-gap) nature. The structure we revealed particularly sheds new light on the splitting of the discrete states into two families, related to the bound and resonance states in Hermitian …
Nonlinear supersymmetry is characterized by supercharges to be higher order in bosonic momenta of a system, and thus has a nature of a hidden symmetry. We review some aspects of nonlinear supersymmetry and related to it exotic supersymmetry and nonlinear superconformal symmetry. Examples of reflectionless, finite-gap and perfectly invisible PT-symmetric zero-gap systems, as well as rational deformations of the quantum harmonic oscillator and conformal mechanics, are considered, in which such symmetries are realized.
In this note, we establish several interesting connections between the supergroup gauge theories and the super integrable systems, i.e. gauge theories with supergroups as their gauge groups and integrable systems defined on superalgebras. In particular, we construct the super-characteristic polynomials of super-Toda lattice and elliptic double Calogero-Moser system by considering certain orbifolded instanton partition functions of their corresponding supergroup gauge theories. We also derive an exotic generalization of sl(2) XXX spin chain arising from the instanton partition function of SQCD …
We derive a semi-classical formula for computing the spectrum of bound states made of Majorana fermions in a generic non-integrable 2d quantum field theory with a set of degenerate vacua. We illustrate the application of the formula in a series of cases, including an asymmetric well potential where the spectra of bosons and fermions may have some curious features. We also discuss the merging of fermionic and bosonic spectra in the presence of supersymmetry. Finally, we use the semi-classical formula to analyse the evolution of the particle spectra in a class of non-integrable supersymmetry mod…
Recently, it was noticed by us that the nonlinear holomorphic supersymmetry of order $n\in\N, n>1$, ($n$-HSUSY) has an algebraic origin. We show that the Onsager algebra underlies $n$-HSUSY and investigate the structure of the former in the context of the latter. A new infinite set of mutually commuting charges is found which, unlike those from the Dolan-Grady set, include the terms quadratic in the Onsager algebra generators. This allows us to find the general form of the superalgebra of $n$-HSUSY and fix it explicitly for the cases of $n=2,3,4,5,6$. The similar results are obtained for a new…
A new pairing theory for many-fermion systems is obtained via the Dirac supersymmetry framework recently introduced to describe Dirac particles in external potentials. It is shown that the standard Bogoliubov-Valatin canonical transformation treatment of the quasi-particle BCS singlet pairing mechanism naturally falls within this framework. Straightforward generalizations in which the fermions can be ascribed $ ν$ {\it components} are shown to lead to enhanced gap energies and critical temperatures as in the case of cuprate superconductors without invoking a stronger electron-boson coupling. T…
We study the integrable and supersymmetric massive $\hatϕ_{(1,3)}$ deformation of the tricritical Ising model in the presence of a boundary. We use constraints from supersymmetry in order to compute the exact boundary $S$-matrices, which turn out to depend explicitly on the topological charge of the supersymmetry algebra. We also solve the general boundary Yang-Baxter equation and show that in appropriate limits the general reflection matrices go over the supersymmetry preserving solutions. Finally, we briefly discuss the possible connection between our reflection matrices and boundary perturb…
We investigate (1,0)-superconformal Toda theories based on simple Lie algebras and find that the classical integrability properties of the underlying bosonic theories do not survive. For several models based on algebras of low rank, we show explicitly that none of the conserved W-algebra generators can be generalized to the supersymmetric case. Using these results we deduce that at least one W-algebra generator fails to generalize in any model based on a classical Lie algebra. This argument involves a method for relating the bosonic Toda theories and their conserved currents within each classi…
We briefly review the general structure of integrable particle theories in 1+1 dimensions having N=1 supersymmetry. Examples are specific perturbed superconformal field theories (of Yang-Lee type) and the N=1 supersymmetric sine-Gordon theory. We comment on the modifications that are required when the N=1 supersymmetry algebra contains non-trivial topological charges.
We find exactly solvable N=2-supersymmetric flows whose infrared fixed points are the N=2 minimal models. The exact S-matrices and the Casimir energy (a c-function) are determined along the entire renormalization group trajectory. The c-function runs from c=3 (asymptotically) in the UV to the N=2 minimal model values of the central charge in the IR, leading us to interpret these theories as the Landau-Ginzburg models with superpotential $X^{k+2}$. Consideration of the elliptic genus gives further support for this interpretation. We also find an integrable model in this hierarchy which has spon…
