Webs are combinatorial diagrams used to encode homomorphisms between representations of Lie (super)algebras and related objects. This paper extends the theory of webs to the quantum group of type Q. We define a monoidal supercategory of quantum type Q webs and show it admits a full, essentially surjective functor onto the monoidal supercategory of $U_q(\mathfrak{q}_n)$-modules generated by the quantum symmetric powers of the natural representation and their duals. We also show that a certain subcategory of the web category is a ribbon category and discuss applications to the representation theory of $U_q(\mathfrak{q}_n)$ and to invariants of oriented, framed links.
We define a $\mathbb{C}(q)$-linear pivotal category $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n})$ and prove that it is equivalent to the full subcategory of finite-dimensional representations of $U_q(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n})$ tensor-generated by the fundamental representations. This answers the type $C$ case of the main open problem from Kuperberg's 1996 paper "Spiders for rank 2 Lie algebras" (arXiv:q-alg/9712003).
We define web categories describing intertwiners for the orthogonal and symplectic Lie algebras, and, in the quantized setup, for certain orthogonal and symplectic coideal subalgebras. They generalize the Brauer category, and allow us to prove quantum versions of some classical type $\mathbf{B}\mathbf{C}\mathbf{D}$ Howe dualities.
We give a diagrammatic presentation in terms of generators mod relations of the representation category of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_n)$. More precisely, we produce all the relations among $\rm{SL}_n$-webs, thus describing the full subcategory tensor-generated by fundamental representations $\bigwedge^k \mathbb{C}^n$ (this subcategory can be idempotent completed to recover the entire representation category). Our result answers a question posed by Kuperberg [arXiv:q-alg/9712003] and affirms conjectures of Kim [arXiv:math.QA/0310143] and Morrison [arXiv:0704.1503]. Our main tool is an application of q…
We give a diagrammatic calculus for the intertwiners between permutation supermodules over the Sergeev superalgebra. We also give a diagrammatic basis for the space of intertwiners between two permutation supermodules.
We introduce web supercategories of type Q. We describe the structure of these categories and show they have a symmetric braiding. The main result of the paper shows these diagrammatically defined monoidal supercategories provide combinatorial models for the monoidal supercategories generated by the supersymmetric tensor powers of the natural supermodule for the Lie superalgebra of type Q.
We study webs in quantum type $C$, focusing on the rank three case. We define a linear pivotal category $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6)$ diagrammatically by generators and relations, and conjecture that it is equivalent to the category $\mathbf{FundRep}(U_q(\mathfrak{sp}_6))$ of quantum $\mathfrak{sp}_6$ representations generated by the fundamental representations, for generic values of the parameter $q$. We prove a number of results in support of this conjecture, most notably that there is a full, essentially surjective functor $\mathbf{Web}(\mathfrak{sp}_6) \rightarrow \mathbf{FundRep}(U_q(\m…
We define and study the category of symmetric $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-webs. This category is a combinatorial description of the category of all finite dimensional quantum $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-modules. Explicitly, we show that (the additive closure of) the symmetric $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-spider is (braided monoidally) equivalent to the latter. Our main tool is a quantum version of symmetric Howe duality. As a corollary of our construction, we provide new insight into Jones-Wenzl projectors and the colored Jones polynomials.
Using the light ladder basis for Kuperberg's $C_2$ webs, we derive triple clasp formulas for idempotents projecting to the top summand in each tensor product of fundamental representations. We then find explicit formulas for the coefficients occurring in the clasps, by computing these coefficients as local intersection forms. Our formulas provide further evidence for Elias's clasp conjecture, which was given for type $A$ webs, and suggests how to generalize the conjecture to non-simply laced types.
We show that in ADE type the trace of Webster's categorification of a tensor product of irreducibles for the quantum group is isomorphic to a tensor product of Weyl modules for the current algebra $\dot{U}(\mathfrak{g}[t])$. This extends a result of Beliakova, Habiro, Lauda, and Webster who showed that the trace of the categorified quantum group $\dot{\mathcal{U}}^*(\mathfrak{g})$ is isomorphic to $\dot{U}(\mathfrak{g}[t])$, and the trace of a cyclotomic quotient of $\dot{\mathcal{U}}^*(\mathfrak{g})$, which categorifies a single irreducible for the quantum group, is isomorphic to a Weyl modul…
Morphisms between tensor products of fundamental representations of the quantum group of sl(n) are described by the sl(n)-webs of Cautis-Kamnitzer-Morrison. Using these webs, we provide an explicit, root-theoretic formula for the local intersection forms attached to each summand of the tensor product of an irreducible representation with a fundamental representation. We prove this formula for n at most 4, and conjecture that it holds for all n. Given two sequences of fundamental weights which sum to the same dominant weight, the clasp is the morphism between the corresponding tensor products w…
We give an interpretation of sl_n webs as morphisms between certain singular Soergel bimodules. We explain how this is a combinatorial, algebraic version of the geometric Satake equivalence (in type A). We then q-deform the construction, giving an equivalence between representations of U_q(sl_n) and certain singular Soergel bimodules for a q-deformed Cartan matrix. In this paper, we discuss the general case but prove only the case n=2,3. In the sequel we will prove the case n >= 4.
Webs are planar graphs with boundary that describe morphisms in a diagrammatic representation category for $\mathfrak{sl}_k$. They are studied extensively by knot theorists because braiding maps provide a categorical way to express link diagrams in terms of webs, producing quantum invariants like the well-known Jones polynomial. One important question in representation theory is to identify the relationships between different bases; coefficients in the change-of-basis matrix often describe combinatorial, algebraic, or geometric quantities (like, e.g., Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials). By "flatteni…
Given a semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, we can represent invariants of tensor products of fundamental representations of the quantum enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ using particular directed graphs called webs. In particular webs are trivalent graphs (with leaves) whose edges are labeled by fundamental representations. Picking generating morphisms and relators we can construct a presentation of the representation category. We examine the properties of this presentation in the case of rank $3$ spiders and certain higher rank non-simple spiders. In particular, we prove a PBW-type t…
Instanton partition functions of $\mathcal{N}=1$ 5d Super Yang-Mills reduced on $S^1$ can be engineered in type IIB string theory from the $(p,q)$-branes web diagram. To this diagram is superimposed a web of representations of the Ding-Iohara-Miki (DIM) algebra that acts on the partition function. In this correspondence, each segment is associated to a representation, and the (topological string) vertex is identified with the intertwiner operator constructed by Awata, Feigin and Shiraishi. We define a new intertwiner acting on the representation spaces of levels $(1,n)\otimes(0,m)\to(1,n+m)$, …
