In the present work, we investigate the production of $P-$wave charmed or charmed-strange mesons in the pion or kaon induced reactions on a proton target. The total cross sections as well as the differential cross sections depending on the scattering angle are evaluated in an effective Lagrangian approach. Our estimations indicate that magnitude of the cross sections strongly depends on the model parameter but such dependence can be almost completely canceled for the cross section ratios. These model independent ratios can be taken as a good criterion of the validity of heavy quark limit in the charmed region, which is helpful to understand $P$-wave charmed and charmed-strange mesons.
In the present work, we adopt a relativistic constituent quark model to depict the charmed strange meson spectroscopy, in which $D_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ are considered as the $1^3P_0$ and $1P_1^\prime$ charmed strange mesons, respectively. By using the wave function obtained from the relativistic quark model, we further investigate the electric transitions between charmed strange mesons. We find the long wave length approximation is reasonable for the charmed strange meson radiative decay by comparing the results with different approximations. The estimated partial widths are all safe…
We study strange and charmed baryon productions, ${π+ p \rightarrow K(D) + Y(Y_c)}$, where ${Y(Y_c)}$ is a strange(charmed) baryon of a ground or an excited state. We propose a new production mechanism where two quarks in the baryon participate in the reaction (two-quark process), which enables excitation of both $λ$- and $ρ$-modes of the baryons. To deal with the two-quark process, we consider the 't Hooft six-quark interaction from the instanton model. We study production rates in relation with the structure of charmed baryons for the forward angle scattering.
By an unquenched quark model, we predict a charmed-strange baryon state, namely, the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$. Its mass is predicted to be 2945 MeV, which is below the $Ξ_c\bar{K}$ threshold due to the nontrivial coupled-channel effect. So the $Ω_{c0}^d(1P,1/2^-)$ state could be regraded as the analog of the charmed-strange meson $D_{s0}^*(2317)$. It is a good opportunity for the running Belle II experiment to search for this state in the $Ω_c^{(*)}γ$ mass spectrum experiment in the future.
Inspired by the present experimental status of charmed-strange mesons, we perform a systematic study of the charmed-strange meson family, in which we calculate the mass spectra of the charmed-strange meson family by taking a screening effect into account in the Godfrey-Isgur model and investigate the corresponding strong decays via the quark pair creation model. These phenomenological analyses of charmed-strange mesons not only shed light on the features of the observed charmed-strange states, but also provide important information on future experimental search for the missing higher radial an…
Newly observed two charmed-strange resonances, $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, are investigated by calculating their Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decays, which shows that they are suitable candidates for the $1^3D_1$ and $1^3D_3$ states in the charmed-strange meson family. Our study also predicts other main decay modes of $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, which can be accessible at the future experiment. In addition, the decay behaviors of the spin partners of $D_{s1}^*(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^*(2860)$, i.e., $1D(2^-)$ and $1D^\prime(2^-)$, are predicted in this work, which are sti…
In the present paper, we continue our study the structure of hadronic spectra, started in Refs. \cite{1,2,3,4,5}, from the view point of existence the extra dimensions in the spirit of Kaluza-Klein approach. We show that all charmed and charmed-strange mesons, including the recently observed new states \cite{7,8}, are excellently incorporated in the systematics provided by Kaluza-Klein approach.
Using the CLEO-II detector, we have obtained evidence for a new meson decaying to $D^0 K^+$. Its mass is $2573.2^{+1.7}_{-1.6}\pm 0.8\pm 0.5$ {}~MeV/$c^2$ and its width is $16^{+5}_{-4}\pm 3$~MeV/$c^2$. Although we do not establish its spin and parity, the new meson is consistent with predictions for an $L=1$, $S=1$, $J_P=2^+$ charmed strange state.
We present the energy spectra of the low lying doubly-charmed baryons using lattice quantum chromodynamics. We precisely predict the ground state mass of the charmed-strange Omega(cc) (1/2+) baryon to be 3712(11)(12) MeV which could well be the next doubly-charmed baryon to be discovered at the LHCb experiment at CERN. We also predict masses of other doubly-charmed strange baryons with quantum numbers 3/2+, 1/2-, and 3/2-.
The hadron loop effect is conjectured to be important in understanding discrepancies between the observed states in experiments and the theoretical expectations of non-relativistic potential model. We present that, in an easily operable procedure, the hadron loop effect could shift the poles downwards to reduce the differences and provide better descriptions of both the masses and the total widths, at least, of the radial quantum number $n=1$ charmed and charmed-strange states. The $1^1P_1-1^3P_1$ mixing phenomena could be naturally explained due to their couplings with common channels. The ne…
We review the status of recently observed positive parity charmed resonances, both in the non-strange and in the strange sector. We describe the experimental findings, the main theoretical analyses and the open problems deserving further investigations.
In this work, we systematically study the mass spectra and strong decays of $1P$ and $2S$ charmed and charmed-strange baryons in the framework of nonrelativistic constituent quark models. With the light quark cluster-heavy quark picture, the masses are simply calculated by a potential model. The strong decays are studied by the Eichten-Hill-Quigg decay formula. Masses and decay properties of the well-established $1S$ and $1P$ states can be reproduced by our method. $Σ_c(2800)^{0,+,++}$ can be assigned as a $Σ_{c2}(3/2^-)$ or $Σ_{c2}(5/2^-)$ state. We prefer to interpret the signal $Σ_c(2850)^0…
In this research, the strong coupling constants of the $D^*D_s^*K$, $D_1D_{s1}K$, $D^*D_sK$ and $D_1D_{s0}^*K$ vertices are evaluated, using the three-point QCD sum rules. In order to calculate the coupling constant of each vertex, either the kaon or the charmed meson is considered as the off-shell particle. The basic $g$ parameter, in the heavy quark effective theory, is related to the coupling constants of $D^*D_s^*K$ and $D^*D_sK$. Our obtained value for $g$ parameter is $0.24\pm 0.09$, which is in good agreement with the lower limits of the other existing predictions.

Possible $2S$ and $1D$ excited $D$ and $D_s$ states are studied, the charmed states $D(2550)^0$, $D^\ast(2600)$, $D(2750)^0$ and $D^\ast(2760)$ newly observed by the BaBar Collaboration are analyzed. The masses of these states are explored within the Regge trajectory phenomenology, and the strong decay widths are computed through the method proposed by Eichten {\it et al.}\cite{Eichten}. Both the mass and the decay width indicate that $D(2550)^0$ is a good candidate of $2^1S_0$. $D^\ast(2600)$ and $D_{s1}^\ast(2700)^\pm$ are very possible the admixtures of $2^3S_1$ and $1^3D_1$ with $J^P=1^-$ …
Heavy-hadron chiral perturbation theory (HH$χ$PT) is applied to the decays of the even-parity charmed strange mesons, D_{s0}(2317) and D_{s1}(2460). Heavy-quark spin symmetry predicts the branching fractions for the three electromagnetic decays of these states to the ground states D_s and D_s^* in terms of a single parameter. The resulting predictions for two of the branching fractions are significantly higher than current upper limits from the CLEO experiment. Leading corrections to the branching ratios from chiral loop diagrams and spin-symmetry violating operators in the HH$χ$PT Lagrangian …
We discuss few, apparently different, but actually tightly related problems: a)Strangeness in the nucleon; b) B --> eta' decays; c)Intrinsic charm in the proton spin problem. We argue that all these problems have a common origin and related to the OZI rule violation in 0^{\pm} vacuum channels . It leads to a noticeable role of a nonvalence component with 0^{\pm} quantum numbers in a hadron.}
The LHCb experiment at CERN has discovered a doubly charmed isoscalar tetraquark $T_{cc}$ with the quantum numbers of $c c \bar u \bar d$ and mass of about 3875 MeV/$c^2$, decaying to $D^0 D^0 π^+$ through the intermediate channel $D^{*+} D^0$. We present a study of its strange companions with the quantum numbers of $c c \bar q \bar s$, where $q = u, d$ and isospin violation is neglected.
We find a new $CP$ violating effect in charmed hadron decays into neutral kaons, which is induced by the interference between the Cabibbo-favored and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes with the $K^{0}-\overline K^{0}$ mixing. It is estimated to be of order of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$, much larger than the direct $CP$ asymmetry, but missed in the literature. To reveal this new $CP$ violation effect, we propose a new observable, the difference of the $CP$ asymmetries in the $D^{+}\to π^{+}K_S^0$ and $D_{s}^{+}\to K^{+} K_S^0$ modes. Once the new effect is determined by experiments, the direct $C…
In this work, we systematically investigate the dibaryons with charm number $C$=1 and strangeness number $S$=$\pm$ 1 from the interactions of a charmed baryon and a strange baryon $Λ_cΛ$, $Λ_cΣ^{(*)}$, $Σ_c^{(*)}Λ$, and $Σ^{(*)}_cΣ^{(*)}$, and corresponding interactions of a charmed baryon and an antistrange baryon $Λ_c\barΛ$, $Λ_c\barΣ^{(*)}$, $Σ^{(*)}_c\barΛ$, and $Σ^{(*)}_c\barΣ^{(*)}$. With the help of the effective Lagrangians with $SU(3)$, heavy quark, and chiral symmetries, the potentials of the interactions considered are constructed by light meson exchanges. To search for the possible…
This is an extension of the prediction of strange baryon decays to the decays of charmed baryons using QCD Sum Rules. Using QCD Sum Rules we estimate the decay $Λ^+_c (udc) \rightarrow Λ^o_s(uds)+ π^+$. Although some weak decays of the $Λ^+_c$ have been measured, since it is difficult to measure $Λ^+_c \rightarrow Λ^o_s+ π^+$ our estimates should be useful for future experiments
We study the $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetries and $CP$ violations in charm-baryon decays with neutral kaons in the final state. The $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetry can be used to search for two-body doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes of charm-baryon decays, with the one in $Λ^+_c\to pK^0_{S,L}$ as a promising observable. Besides, it is studied for a new $CP$-violation effect in these processes, induced by the interference between the Cabibbo-favored and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes with the neutral kaon mixing. Once the new CP-violation effect is determined by experiments, the direct $CP$ asymmetry…
The mass and current coupling constant of the $D_{s2}^* (2573)$ charmed-strange meson is calculated in the framework of two-point QCD sum rule approach. Although the quantum numbers of this meson is not exactly known, its width and decay modes are consistent with $I(J^P)=0(2^+)$, which we consider to write the interpolating current used in our calculations. Replacing the light strange quark with up or down quark we also compare the results with those of $D_{2}^*$ charmed tensor meson and estimate the order of SU(3) flavor symmetry violation.
The non-conservation of charmed-strange current in the neutrino deep inelastic scattering ($ν$DIS) strongly affects the longitudinal structure function, $F_L$, at small values of Bjorken $x$. The corresponding correction to $F_L$ is a higher twist effect enhanced at small-$x$ by the rapidly growing gluon density factor. As a result, the component of $F_L$ induced by the charmed-strange current prevails over the light-quark component and dominates $F_L=F_L^{cs}+F_L^{ud}$ at $x\lsim 0.01$ and $Q^2\sim m_c^2$. The color dipole analysis clarifies the physics behind the phenomenon and provides a qu…
In this work, using the covariant light front approach with conventional vertex functions, we estimate the production rates of $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via $B_{(s)}$ semileptonic decays. Due to these calculated considerable production rates, it is possible to experimentally search for $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via the semileptonic decays, which may provide extra approach to explore $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons.
Inspired by the newly observed $D_{sJ}(3040)^+$ state, in this work we systemically study the two-body strong decays of P-wave charmed-strange mesons with the first radial excitation. Under the assignment of $1^{+}(j^P=1/2^+)$, i.e. the first radial excitation of $D_{s1}(2460)^+$, we find that the width of $D_{sJ}(3040)^+$ is close to the lower limit of the BaBar measurement. This indicates that it is reasonable to interpret $D_{sJ}(3040)^+$ as the first radial excitation of $D_{s1}(2460)^+$. Our calculation further predicts that $0^-+1^-$ channels e.g. $D^+K^{*0}$, $D^0 K^{*+}$ and $D_s^+ϕ$ a…
In this paper the masses and decay processes of several new strange, charmed and bottomed exotic pentaquarks are predicted. Multiquarks are studied microscopically in a standard quark model. In pure ground-state pentaquarks the short-range interaction is computed and it is shown to be repulsive. The long-range and medium-range interactions are not expected to provide sufficient attraction. An additional quark-antiquark pair is then considered, and this is suggested to produce a narrow linear molecular system. The quarks assemble in three hadronic clusters, and the central hadron provides stabi…
We study the strangeness and charm productions induced by the pion beam, i.e. the $π^-$p $\rightarrow$ $K^{*0}Λ$ and $π^-$p $\rightarrow$ $D^{*-}Λ_c^+$ reactions, based on two different theoretical frameworks: an effective Lagrangian method and a Regge approach. In order to estimate the magnitude of the charm production relative to that of the strangeness production, we assume that the coupling constants for the charmed meson and baryon vertices are the same as those for the strangeness channel. We found that the total cross section for the charm production was about $10^3 - 10^6$ times smalle…
We make a systematic calculation of the spectra and hadronic decays of the $D_s$ system in a coupled channel framework, where the unquenched effects are induced by the $^3P_0$ model. In the calculation, the wave functions are obtained by using a nonrelativistic potential model and are handled precisely with Gaussian Expansion Method. Even though the fitting mainly focuses on the spectrum, our model agrees well with the experiments on both the spectra and the hadronic decays, suggesting that the coupled channel effect could result in a reasonable and coherent description of the $D_s$ mesons. Ba…
A semi-relativistic potential model is adopted to calculate the mass spectra of charmed and charmed-strange meson states up to the $2D$ excitations. The strong decay properties are further analyzed with a chiral quark model by using the numerical wave functions obtained from the potential model. By using the strong decay amplitudes extracted from the chiral quark model, we also systematically study the coupled-channel effects on the bare masses of the $1P$-wave states, since the masses of $D^*_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ cannot be explained with bare $1P$-wave states within the potential mod…
New resonance $Λ_c(2860)^+$, reported by LHCb, is a key to establish \emph{D}-wave charmed and charmed-strange baryon families. In this work, we first carry out an analysis of mass spectra of the $λ$-mode excited charmed and charmed-strange baryon states, which may reveal the relation of $Λ_c(2860)^+$, $Λ_c(2880)^+$, $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)^+$, $i.e.$, $Λ_c(2860)^+$ and $Λ_c(2880)^+$ can form a \emph{D}-wave doublet $[3/2^+,5/2^+]$ while $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)^+$ are the strange partners of $Λ_c(2860)^+$ and $Λ_c(2880)^+$, respectively. Further study of their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Ii…
We discuss the general method of the calculation of the nucleon matrix elements of an operator associated with nonvalence quarks. The method is based on the QCD sum rules and low energy theorems. As an application of these considerations, we calculate the strange quark matrix element as well as the momentum distribution of the strangeness in the nucleon. We also calculate the singlet axial constant associated with $η'$ meson as well as an axial constant associated with heavy quarks.
Goldstone boson decays of P-wave $D_s^{**}$ mesons are studied within the framework of Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory. We first analyze the simplest single kaon decays of these strange charmed mesons. We derive a model independent prediction for the width of $D_{s2}$ and use experimental information on $D_{s1}$ to constrain the S-wave contribution to $D_1^0$ decay. Single and double pion decay modes are then discussed and shown to be significantly restricted by isospin conservation. We conclude that the pion channels may offer the best hope for detecting one strange member of an other…
We investigate the possibility to study the charmed baryon $Λ_c(2940)$ by kaon-induced reaction on a proton target. By assuming the $Λ_c(2940)$ as a $pD^{*0}$ molecular state with spin-parity $J^{p}=1/2^{\pm}$, an effective Lagrangian approach was adopted to calculate the cross section, the $D^0p$ invariant mass spectrum and Dalitz plot of the $Λ(2940)$ production. The total cross section of the $K^{-}p\toΛ_c(2940)D_s^{-}$ reaction is found at an order of magnitude about 10 $μ$b. By considering the sub sequential decay $Λ_c(2940)\to{}D^0p$ with contributions from the $Λ_c(2286)$ and the $Σ_c(2…
The Belle Collaboration has recently reported a study of the decays $B \to D_{s1}(2536)^{+}\bar{D}^{(\ast)}$ and has given also estimates of relevant ratios between branching fractions of decays $B \to D^{(\ast)}D_{sJ}^{(\ast)}$ providing important information to check the structure of the $D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)$, $D_{s1}(2460)$ and $D_{s1}(2536)$ mesons. The disagreement between experimental data and Heavy Quark Symmetry has been used as an indication that $D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ mesons could have a more complex structure than the canonical $c\bar{s}$ one. We analyze these rati…
The hadronic decay widths and some ratios of branching fractions of the newly observed charmed strange baryons, $Ξ_c(3055)^0$, $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)^+$ are calculated in a $^3P_0$ model. In the calculation, they are considered as $34$ kinds of $D-wave$ charmed strange baryons. Among these assignments, $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ is very possibly a $J^P={5\over 2}^+$ $\hatΞ_{c3}^\prime(\frac{5}{2}^+)$ or $\checkΞ_{c3}^2(\frac{5}{2}^+)$, where $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ has the total decay width $Γ=10.1$ MeV and $Γ=7.6$ MeV. The predicted ratios $Γ(Ξ_c(3055)^+ \to ΛD^+ )/ Γ(Ξ_c(3055)^+ \to Σ_c^{++}K^-)=3.39$. $Ξ_c(…
The strong coupling constants, $g_{D_{s}DK_0^*}$, $g_{B_{s}BK_0^*}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K}$, $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K_1}$ and $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK_1}$, where $K_0^*$, $K$ and $K_1$ are scalar, pseudoscalar and axial vector kaon mesons, respectively are calculated in the framework of three-point QCD sum rules. In particular, the correlation functions of the considered vertices when both $B(D)$ and $K_0^*(K)(K_1)$ mesons are off-shell are evaluated. In the case of $K_1$, which is either $K_1(1270)$ or $K_1(1400)$, the mixing between these two states are also taken into account. A c…
The charmed-strange meson spectrum is calculated with the overlap valence fermions on 2+1 flavor domain wall dynamical configurations for $32^3\times 64$ lattices with a spatial size of 2.7 fm. Both charm and strange quark propagators are calculated with the overlap fermion action. The calculated scalar meson at 2304(22) MeV and axial-vector meson at 2546(27) MeV are in good agreement with the experimental masses of $D{s0}^*$(2317) and $D_{s1}$(2536).
The properties of pentaquarks containing a heavy anti-quark and strange quarks are studied in the bound state picture. In the flavor SU(3) limit, there are many pentaquark states with the same binding energy. When the SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are included, however, three states become particularly stable due to a ``Gell-Mann--Okubo mechanism''. They are the $\bar Qsuud$ and $\bar Qsudd$ states discussed by Lipkin, and a a previously unstudied $\bar Qssud$ state. These states will have $J^P={1\over2}^+$ and their masses are estimated. These states, if exist, may be seen in experiments in…
Inspired by the very recently discovered tetraquark states $T_{c\bar s 0}^a(2900)^{0,++}$ from the LHCb Collaboration, we predict the existence of a new charmed-strange pentaquark system, $c\bar s nnn$, which is closely connected to $c\bar s n\bar n$ by exchanging $\bar n$ into $nn$ with $n=u,d$. Especially, it is suggested to experimentally search for the predicted new pentaquark system via the weak decays of $B$ mesons or $b$-baryons, with the support from the study of the mass spectrum and the decay properties. The predicted new pentaquark system must attract extensive attention from experi…
The LHCb Collaboration has recently reported the observation for the first time of a spin-$3$ resonance in the heavy quark sector. They have shown that the $\bar{D}^{0}K^{-}$ structure seen in the $B_{s}^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}K^{-}π^{+}$ reaction and with invariant mass $2.86\,{\rm GeV}$ is an admixture of a spin-$1$ and a spin-$3$ resonances. Motivated by the good agreement between our theoretical predictions some time ago and the properties extracted from the experiment of the $D_{s1}^{\ast}(2860)$ and $D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860)$ states, we perform an extension of the study of the strong decay propert…
We examine charmed-strange mesons within the framework of the constituent quark model, focusing on the states with L=1. We are particularly interested in the mixing of two spin-states that are involved in $D_{s1}(2536)$ and the recently discovered $D_{sJ}(2460)$. We assume that these two mesons form a pair of states with J=1. These spin-states are mixed by a type of the spin-orbit interaction that violates the total-spin conservation. Without assuming explicit forms for the interactions as functions of the interquark distance, we relate the matrix elements of all relevant spin-dependent intera…
The interaction between pseudoscalar and/or vector mesons can be studied using hidden gauge Lagrangians. In this framework, the interaction between charmed mesons has been studied. Furthermore, doubly charmed states are also predicted. These new states are near the $D^*D^*$ and $D^*D^*_s$ thresholds, and have spin-parity $J^P=1^+$. We evaluate the decay widths of these states, named as $R_{cc}(3970)$ and $S_{cc}(4100)$ (with strangeness), and obtain $44$ MeV for the non-strangeness, and $24$ MeV for the doubly charm-strange state. Essentially, the decay modes are $DD_{(s)}π$ and $DD_{(s)}γ$, b…
In this work, we adopt the one-boson-exchange model to study the $D^{(*)}K^{(*)}$ interactions. With the same parameters, we can simultaneously reproduce the masses of the $D_{s0}(2317)$, $D_{s1}(2460)$, and $T_{c\bar{s}}^{a0(++)}(2900)$ recently observed by the LHCb collaboration in the hadronic molecular picture, where the $D_{s0}(2317)$, $D_{s1}(2460)$, and $T_{c\bar{s}}^{a0(++)}(2900)$ are regarded as the $DK[I(J^P)=0(0^+)]$, $D^*K[0(1^+)]$, and $D^*K^*[1(0^+)]$ charmed-strange molecular states, respectively. In addition, we extend to study the $Λ_cK^{(*)}$ and $Σ_cK^{(*)}$ interactions an…
Motivated by the recent surprising discovery of two new meson states with c s-bar quark content but unexpectedly low masses and narrow total decay widths, we work out, in a nonrelativistic potential-model approach developed already some two decades ago, the predictions for the energy levels of the corresponding charm-antistrange quark bound states. In spite of the fact that this simple quark model reproduces the mass spectrum of the previously observed hadrons remarkably well, we are led to the conclusion that, without considerable modifications, both the new states do not fit into this framew…

Strange and charmed baryon productions from proton-antiproton collisions are studied in the effective Lagrangian and Regge approaches. We include only the $t$-channel dynamics which is dominant for the diffractive region that is relevant in the present discussions. For strangeness productions, the coupling constants for $K$ meson are determined by $SU(3)$ relations while other unknown parameters for $K^{*}$ couplings and for form factors are fixed by existing observed data for strangeness productions. By extrapolating the amplitudes for strangeness productions to those for charm, we predict ch…
Excited states masses of the strange singly charmed baryons are calculated using the non-relativistic approach of hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). The hyper-Coulomb plus screened potential is used as a confinement potential with the first order correction. The spin-spin, spin-orbit and spin-tensor interaction terms are included perturbatively. Our calculated masses are allowed to construct the Regge trajectories in both $(n_r, M^2)$ and $(J, M^2)$ planes. The mass spectra and the Regge trajectories study predict the spin-parity of $Ξ{_c(2970)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(3080)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(312…
In this paper, we perform a combined study of $2S$ and $1D$ open-charm mesons with natural spin-parity. Our results indicate that $D^*_1(2600)/D^*_{s1}(2700)$ and $D^*_1(2760)/D^*_{s1}(2860)$ are predominantly the $2^3S_1$ and $1^3D_1$ charmed/charmed-strange mesons, respectively, while $D_3^*(2760)/D_{s3}^*(2860)$ can be regarded as the $1^3D_3$ charmed/charmed-strange mesons. In addition, some typical ratios of partial widths of the discussed natural states are predicted, by which future experiments can test these assignments, especially for the $2S$-$1D$ mixing scheme existing in $D^*_1(260…
We study pion induced reactions for charmed baryons $B$, $π$ + N $\rightarrow$ $D^*$ + $B$. First we estimate charm production rates in comparison with strangeness production using a Regge model which is dominated by vector ($D^*$ or $K^*$ ) Reggeon exchange. Then we examine the production rates of various charmed baryons $B$ in a quark-diquark model. We find that the production of excited states are not necessarily suppressed, a sharp contrast to strangeness production, which is a unique feature of the charm production with a large momentum transfer.
The width of a recently discovered excited charmed-strange baryon, a candidate for a state $Ξ_c^*$ with spin 3/2, is calculated. In the absence of configuration mixing between the ground-state (spin-1/2) charmed-strange baryon $Ξ_c^{(a)}$ and the spin-1/2 state $Ξ_c^{(s)}$ lying about 95 MeV above it, one finds $\tilde Γ(Ξ^*_c \to Ξ_c^{(a)} π) = (3/4) \tilde Γ(Ξ^* \to Ξπ)$ and $\tilde Γ(Ξ^*_c \to Ξ_c^{(s)} π) = (1/4) \tilde Γ(Ξ^* \to Ξπ)$, where the tilde denotes the partial width with kinematic factors removed. Assuming a kinematic factor for P-wave decay of $p_{\rm cm}^3$, one predicts $Γ(Ξ^…
Two broad charmed mesons, the D_0^* and D_1', have recently been observed. We examine the quark model predictions for the D_0^* and D_1' properties and discuss experimental measurements that can shed light on them. We find that these states are well described as the broad, j=1/2 non-strange charmed P-wave mesons. Understanding the D_0^* and D_1' states can provide important insights into the D_{sJ}^*(2317), D_{sJ}(2460) states whose unexpected properties have led to renewed interest in hadron spectroscopy.
Effects of the spin orbit-force on hadronic systems with strangeness or charm are investigated by a valence quark model with the instanton-induced interaction. By introducing this interaction, the spin-orbit splittings in the negative-parity hyperons becomes 0.14 -- 0.37 times smaller. The flavor-octet baryon mass spectrum and the splittings in the charmed baryons become consistent with the experiments. Though the splitting is also reduced in the flavor-singlet baryons, it still gives two third of the experimental value. The reduction comes from the cancellation between the one-gluon exchange …
