Let $G$ be a split semisimple algebraic group over a field and let $A^*$ be an oriented cohomology theory in the sense of Levine--Morel. We provide a uniform approach to the $A^*$-motives of geometrically cellular smooth projective $G$-varieties based on the Hopf algebra structure of $A^*(G)$. Using this approach we provide various applications to the structure of motives of twisted flag varieties.
Relying on recent advances in the theory of motives we develope a general formalism for derived categories of motives with Q-coefficients on perfect (ind-)schemes. As an application we give a motivic refinement of Zhu's geometric Satake equivalence for Witt vector affine Grassmannians in this set-up.
Let G be an adjoint simple algebraic group of inner type. We express the Chow motive (with integral coefficients) of some anisotropic projective G-homogeneous varieties in terms of motives of simpler G-homogeneous varieties, namely, those that correspond to maximal parabolic subgroups of G. We decompose the motive of a generalized Severi-Brauer variety SB_2(A), where A is a division algebra of degree 5, into a direct sum of two indecomposable motives. As an application we provide another counter-example to the uniqueness of a direct sum decomposition in the category of motives with integral co…
This paper addresses the problem of calculating the Amitsur subgroup of a proper $k$-scheme. Under mild hypothesis, we calculate this subgroup for proper $k$-varieties $X$ with $\mathrm{Pic}(X)\simeq \mathbb{Z}^{\oplus m}$, using a classification of so called absolutely split vector bundles ($AS$-bundles for short). We also show that the Brauer group of $X$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Br}(k)$ modulo the Amitsur subgroup, provided $X$ is geometrically rational. Our results also enable us to classify $AS$-bundles on twisted flags. Moreover, we find an alternative proof for a result due to Merkurje…
In this paper we prove that a finite product of Brauer--Severi varieties is categorical representable in dimension zero if and only if it admits a $k$-rational point if and only if it is rational over $k$. The same is true for certain isotropic involution varieties over a field $k$ of characteristic different from two. For finite products of generalized Brauer--Severi varieties, categorical representability in dimension zero is equivalent to the existence of a full exceptional collection. In this case however categorical representability in dimension zero is not equivalent to the existence of …
We start by developing a theory of noncommutative (=NC) mixed motives with coefficients in any commutative ring. In particular, we construct a symmetric monoidal triangulated category of NC mixed motives, over a base field k, and a full subcategory of NC mixed Artin motives. Making use of Hochschild homology, we then apply Ayoub's weak Tannakian formalism to these motivic categories. In the case of NC mixed motives, we obtain a motivic Hopf dg algebra, which we describe explicitly in terms of Hochschild homology and complexes of exact cubes. In the case of NC mixed Artin motives, we compute th…
In the present article we investigate ordinary and equivariant Rost motives. We provide an equivariant motivic decomposition of the variety X of full flags of a split semisimple algebraic group over a smooth base scheme, study torsion subgroup of the Chow group of twisted forms of X, define some equivariant Rost motives over a field and ordinary Rost motives over a general base scheme, and relate equivariant Rost motives with classifying spaces of some algebraic groups.
In this article we compute the motive associated to a cellular fibration $Γ$ over a smooth scheme $X$ inside Veovodsky's motivic categories. We implement this result to study the motive associated to a $G$-bundle, and additionally to study motives of varieties admitting a resolution of singularities by a tower of cellular fibrations (e.g. affine Schubert varieties in a twisted affine flag variety).
We introduce and study various categories of (equivariant) motives of (versal) flag varieties. We relate these categories with certain categories of parabolic (Demazure) modules. We show that the motivic decomposition type of a versal flag variety depends on the direct sum decomposition type of the parabolic module. To do this we use localization techniques of Kostant-Kumar in the context of generalized oriented cohomology as well as the Rost nilpotence principle for algebraic cobordism and its generic version. As an application, we obtain new proofs and examples of indecomposable Chow motives…
We introduce two new general methods to compute the Chow motives of twisted flag varieties and settle a 20-year-old conjecture of Markus Rost about the Rost invariant for groups of type E7.
We study the Milnor-Witt motives which are a finite direct sum of $\mathbb{Z}(q)[p]$ and $\mathbb{Z}/η(q)[p]$. We show that for MW-motives of this type, we could determine an MW-motivic cohomology class in terms of a motivic cohomology class and a Witt cohomology class. We define the motivic Bockstein cohomology and show that it corresponds to subgroup of Witt cohomology, if the MW-motive splits as above. As an application, we give the splitting formula of Milnor-Witt motives of Grassmannian bundles and complete flag bundles. This in particular shows that the integral cohomology of real comple…
In the present article we prove some results about the Morava K-theory. In particular, we construct an operation from the Morava K-theory to the Chow theory analogous to the second Chern class for Grothendieck's K0-theory. Furthermore, we investigate ordinary and equivariant oriented cohomology theories in the sense of Levine-Morel of projective quadrics, and discuss the Rost motives.
In the present article we investigate properties of the category of the integral Grothendieck-Chow motives over a field. We discuss the Krull-Schmidt principle for integral motives, provide a complete list of the generalized Severi-Brauer varieties with indecomposable integral motive, and exploit a relation between the category of motives of twisted flag varieties and integral $p$-adic representations of finite groups.
Let A, A' be two central simple algebras over a field F and \mathbb{F} be a finite field of characteristic p. We prove that the upper indecomposable direct summands of the motives of two anisotropic varieties of flags of right ideals X(d_1,...,d_k;A) and X(d'_1,...,d'_s;A') with coefficients in \mathbb{F} are isomorphic if and only if the p-adic valuations of gcd(d_1,...,d_k) and gcd(d'_1,..,d'_s) are equal and the classes of the p-primary components A_p and A'_p of A and A' generate the same group in the Brauer group of F. This result leads to a surprising dichotomy between upper motives of a…
We construct covariant $q$-deformed holomorphic structures for all finitely-generated relative Hopf modules over the irreducible quantum flag manifolds endowed with their Heckenberger--Kolb calculi. In the classical limit these reduce to modules of sections of holomorphic homogeneous vector bundles over irreducible flag manifolds. For the case of simple relative Hopf modules, we show that this covariant holomorphic structure is unique. This generalises earlier work of Majid, Khalkhali, Landi, and van Suijlekom for line modules of the Podleś sphere, and subsequent work of Khalkhali and Moatadel…
This is a sequel to our previous paper (joint with Furusho). It will give a more natural framework for constructing elements in the Hopf algebra of framed mixed Tate motives according to Bloch and Kriz. This framework allows us to extend our previous results to interpret all multiple zeta values (including the divergent ones) and the multiple polylogarithms in one variable as elements of this Hopf algebra. It implies that the pro-unipotent completion of the torsor of paths on projective line minus three points, is a mixed Tate motive in the sense of Bloch-Kriz. Also It allows us to interpret t…
In this article, the comodule structure of Chow rings of Flag manifolds $\operatorname{CH}(G/B)$ is described by Schubert cells. Its equivariant version gives rise to a Hopf structure of the equivariant cohomology of flag manifolds $H^*_B(G/B)$. We get two identities of generalized Schubert polynomials as explanations of the geometric facts.
Let G be a split semisimple linear algebraic group over a field k0. Let E be a G-torsor over a field extension k of k0. Let h be an algebraic oriented cohomology theory in the sense of Levine-Morel. Consider a twisted form E/B of the variety of Borel subgroups G/B over k. Following the Kostant-Kumar results on equivariant cohomology of flag varieties we establish an isomorphism between the Grothendieck groups of the h-motivic subcategory generated by E/B and the category of finitely generated projective modules of certain Hecke-type algebra H which depends on the root datum of G, on the torsor…
Two semisimple algebraic groups are said to be motivic equivalent if the motives of the associated twisted flag varieties are isomorphic modulo any prime p. The purpose of this note is to construct the combinatorial invariants which characterize motivic equivalence and which are the motivic analogues of the Tits indices which appear in the classification of semisimple algebraic groups. The expression of these invariants -the Tits p-indexes- in terms of the classical invariants associated to the natural underlying structures of semisimple algebraic groups allow to produce algebraic criteria of …
Let G be a compact connected Lie group with a maximal torus T\subsetG. In the context of Schubert calculus we obtain a canonical presentation for the integral cohomology ring H^{\ast}(G/T) of the complete flag manifold G/T. The result have been applied in [15] to construct the integral cohomology ring H^{\ast}(G) in terms of Schubert classes on G/T, and in [16] to determine the structure of the modp cohomology H^{\ast}(G;F_{p}) as a Hopf algebra over the Steenrod algebra.
The first author has recently shown that semisimple algebraic groups are classified up to motivic equivalence by the local versions of the classical Tits indexes over field extensions, known as Tits p-indexes. We provide in this article the complete description of the values of the Tits p-indexes over fields. From this exhaustive study, we also deduce criteria of motivic equivalence for semisimple groups of many types, hence giving a dictionary between classic algebraic structures, representation theory, cohomological invariants and Chow motives of the twisted flag varieties for those groups.
We prove that the structure algebra of a Bruhat moment graph of a finite real root system is a Hopf algebroid with respect to the Hecke and the Weyl actions. We introduce new techniques (reconstruction and push-forward formula of a product, twisted coproduct, double quotients of bimodules) and apply them together with our main result to linear algebraic groups, to generalized Schubert calculus, to combinatorics of Coxeter groups and finite real root systems. As for groups, it implies that the natural Hopf-algebra structure on the algebraic oriented cohomology $h(G)$ of Levine-Morel of a split …
This is a set of working notes which give a second proof of the Shareshian--Wachs conjecture, the first (and recent) proof being by Brosnan and Chow in November 2015. The conjecture relates some symmetric functions constructed combinatorially out of unit interval graphs (their $q$-chromatic quasisymmetric functions), and some symmetric functions constructed algebro-geometrically out of Tymoczko's representation of the symmetric group on the equivariant cohomology ring of a family of subvarieties of the complex flag variety, called regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties. Brosnan and Chow's pro…
