The last decade has seen great advancements in the field of modified gravity, motivated by the dark energy problem, or by the search for a fundamental quantum gravity theory. With a phenomenologically-driven approach, we consider dRGT theory and its extension, quasi-dilaton massive gravity (QDMG). When looking for ways to constrain the theory, a promising direction appeared to be astrophysical tests. The scalar gravitational degree of freedom and quasi-dilaton degree of freedom alter the evolution of Bardeen potentials, which in turn affects the galaxy rotation curves. We find an upper bound on graviton mass in QDMG to be $m \leq 10^{-31} {\rm eV}$. This result agrees with bounds from LIGO and numerous Solar System tests. However, the extremely small mass of the graviton remains a detection out of reach, with LISA's sensitivity exploring the parameter space up to $m \leq 10^{-25} {\rm eV}$.
Massive particles' Hawking radiation via tunneling from the G.H Dilaton black hole
We present the cosmological analysis of the Gauss-Bonnet quasi-dilaton massive gravity theory. This offers a gravitational theory with a non-zero graviton mass. We calculate the complete set of background equations of motion. Also, we obtain the self-accelerating background solutions and we present the constraints on parameters to indicate the correct sign of parameters. In addition, we analyse tensor perturbations and calculate the mass of graviton and find the dispersion relation of gravitational waves for two cases. Finally, we investigate the propagation of gravitational perturbation in th…
Although quasi-dilaton massive gravity is a well-defined gravitational theory, it exhibits instabilities and suffers from the strong coupling problem. In this work we construct an extension of the theory, through the inclusion of the aether field. Focusing on flat Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker geometry, we show the existence of exact, self-accelerating solutions at the background level, characterized by an effective cosmological constant arising from the graviton mass. Additionally, we perform a detailed perturbation analysis, investigating separately the tensor, vector, and scalar pertu…
We numerically calculate the quasinormal frequencies of the Klein-Gordon and Dirac fields propagating in a two-dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter black hole of the dilaton gravity theory. For the Klein-Gordon field we use the Horowitz-Hubeny method and the asymptotic iteration method for second order differential equations. For the Dirac field we first exploit the Horowitz-Hubeny method. As a second method, instead of using the asymptotic iteration method for second order differential equations, we propose to take as a basis its formulation for coupled systems of first order differentia…

Gravitational spectroscopy - the measurement of the quasi-normal modes of a black hole from the ringdown signal of a binary black hole coalescence - is one of the most promising tools to test gravity in the strong-field, large-curvature regime, but without the knowledge of the black hole quasi-normal modes in specific cases of modified gravity theories, only null tests of general relativity are possible. More specifically, we need to know the modes of rotating black holes, because typical compact binary mergers lead to black holes with large spins. In this article we compute, for the first tim…
