Related to the classification of regular foliations in a complex algebraic surface, we address the problem of classifying the complex surfaces which admit a flat pencil of foliations. On this matter, a classification of flat pencils which admit foliations with a first integral of genus one and isolated singularities was done by Lins Neto. In this work, we complement Lins Neto's work, by obtaining the classification of compact complex surfaces which have a pencil with an invariant tangency set.
Let $\mathcal{P}_4$ be the linear family of foliations of degree 4 in $\mathbb{P}^2$ given by A. Lins Neto, whose set of parameters with first integral $I_p(\mathcal{P}_4)$ is dense and countable. In this work, we will calculate explicitly the degree of the rational first integral of the foliations in this linear family, as a function of the parameter.
We classify two dimensional neighborhoods of an elliptic curve C with torsion normal bundle, up to formal equivalence. The proof makes use of the existence of a pair (indeed a pencil) of formal foliations having C as a common leaf, and the fact that neighborhoods are completely determined by the holonomy of such a pair. We also discussanalytic equivalence and show, for each formal model, that the corresponding moduli space is infinite dimensional.
We prove the non-existence of real analytic Levi flat hypersurface whose complement is 1-convex and Levi foliation is transversely affine in compact Kahler surfaces.
It is shown that the Levi foliation of a real analytic Levi-flat hypersurface extends to a $d$-web near a nondicritical singular point and admits a multiple-valued meromorphic first integral.
We study Levi-flat real analytic hypersurfaces with singularities. We prove that the Levi foliation on the regular part of the hypersurface can be holomorphically extended, in a suitable sense, to neighbourhoods of singular points.
We study holomorphic foliations tangent to singular real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces in compact complex manifolds of complex dimension two. We give some hypotheses to guarantee the existence of dicritical singularities of these objects. As consequence, we give some applications to holomorphic foliations tangent to real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces with singularities in $\mathbb{P}^2$.
Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a codimension one holomorphic foliation in $\mathbb{P}^n$, $n\geq 2$, leaving invariant a real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurface $M$ with regular part $M^{*}$. Then every leaf of $\mathcal{F}$ outside $\overline{M^{*}}$ accumulates in $\overline{M^{*}}$.
We study Segre varieties associated to Levi-flat subsets in complex manifolds and apply them to establish local and global results on the integration of tangent holomorphic foliations.
A singular real analytic foliation $\mathcal{F}$ of real codimension one on an $n$-dimensional complex manifold $M$ is Levi-flat if each of its leaves is foliated by immersed complex manifolds of dimension $n-1$. These complex manifolds are leaves of a singular real analytic foliation $\mathcal{L}$ which is tangent to $\mathcal{F}$. In this article, we classify germs of Levi-flat foliations at $(\mathbb{C}^{n},0)$ under the hypothesis that $\mathcal{L}$ is a germ holomorphic foliation. Essentially, we prove that there are two possibilities for $\mathcal{L}$, from which the classification of $\…
The set $\mathbf{F}(3)$ of foliations of degree three on the complex projective plane can be identified with a Zariski's open set of a projective space of dimension $23$ on which acts $\mathrm{Aut}(\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}})$. The subset $\mathbf{FP}(3)$ of $\mathbf{F}(3)$ consisting of foliations of $\mathbf{F}(3)$ with a flat Legendre transform (dual web) is a Zariski closed subset of $\mathbf{F}(3)$. We classify up to automorphism of $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$ the elements of $\mathbf{FP}(3)$. More precisely, we show that up to automorphism there are $16$ foliations of degree three wit…
Let $C$ be a smooth elliptic curve embedded in a smooth complex surface $X$ such that $C$ is a leaf of a suitable holomorphic foliation of $X$. We investigate complex analytic properties of a neighborhood of $C$ under some assumptions on complex dynamical properties of the holonomy function. As an application, we give an example of $(C, X)$ in which the line bundle $[C]$ is formally flat along $C$ however it does not admit a $C^\infty$ Hermitian metric with semi-positive curvature.
We discuss various problems regarding the structure of the foliation of some foliated submanifolds S of C^n, in particular Levi flat ones. As a general scheme, we suppose that S is bounded along a coordinate (or a subset of coordinates), and prove that the leaves of its foliation are complex planes.
The aim of this work is to study the foliations on the complex projective plane with flat \textsc{Legendre} transform (dual web). We establish some effective criteria for the flatness of the dual $d$-web of a homogeneous foliation of degree $d$ and we describe some explicit examples. These results allow us to show that up to automorphism of $\mathbb{P}^2$ there are $11$ homogeneous foliations of degree $3$ with flat dual web. We will see also that it is possible, under certain assumptions, to bring the study of flatness of the dual web of a general foliation to the homogeneous framework. We ge…
We study the singular set of a singular Levi-flat real-analytic hypersurface. We prove that the singular set of such a hypersurface is Levi-flat in the appropriate sense. We also show that if the singular set is small enough, then the Levi-foliation extends to a singular codimension one holomorphic foliation of a neighborhood of the hypersurface.
In this work we study analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces in complex algebraic surfaces. First, we show that if this foliation admits chaotic dynamics (i.e. if it does not admit a transverse invariant measure), then the connected components of the complement of the hypersurface are modifications of Stein domains. This allows us to extend the CR foliation to a singular algebraic foliation on the ambient complex surface. We apply this result to prove, by contradiction, that analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces admitting a transverse affine structure in a complex algebraic surface have a transverse inva…
Let $H \subset {\mathbb P}^n$ be a real-analytic subvariety of codimension one induced by a real-analytic curve in the Grassmannian $G(n+1,n)$. Assuming $H$ has a global defining function, we prove $H$ is Levi-flat, the closure of its smooth points of top dimension is a union of complex hyperplanes, and its singular set is either of dimension $2n-2$ or dimension $2n-4$. If the singular set is of dimension $2n-4$, then we show the hypersurface is algebraic and the Levi-foliation extends to a singular holomorphic foliation of ${\mathbb P}^n$ with a meromorphic (rational of degree 1) first integr…
Let $Y$ be a compact complex manifold embedded in a complex manifold with unitary flat normal bundle. Our interest is in a sort of the linearizability problem of a neighborhood of $Y$. As a higher-codimensional generalization of Ueda's result, we give a sufficient condition for the existence of a non-singular holomorphic foliation on a neighborhood of $Y$ which includes $Y$ as a leaf with unitary-linear holonomy. We apply this result to the existence problem of a smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive curvature on a nef line bundle.
One can easily give examples of rank 2 flat connections over $\mathbb{P}^2$ by rational pull-back of connections over $\mathbb{P}^1$. We give an example of a connection that can not occur in this way; this example is constructed from an algebraic solution of Painlevé VI equation. From this example we deduce a Hilbert modular foliation. The proof of this relies on the classification of foliations on projective surfaces due to Brunella, Mc Quillan and Mendes. Then, we get the dual foliation and, by a precise monodromy analysis, we see that our twice foliated surface is covered by the classical H…
A semiholomorphic foliations of type (n, d) is a differentiable real manifold X of dimension 2n + d, foliated by complex leaves of complex dimension n. In the present work, we introduce an appropriate notion of pseudoconvexity (and consequently, q-completeness) for such spaces, given by the interplay of the usual pseudoconvexity, along the leaves, and the positivity of the transversal bundle. For 1-complete real analytic semiholomorphic foliations, we obtain a vanishing theorem for the CR cohomology, which we use to show an extension result for CR functions on Levi flat hypersurfaces and an em…
Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a singular codimension one holomorphic foliation on a compact complex manifold $X$ of dimension at least three such that its singular set has codimension at least two. In this paper, we determine Lehmann-Suwa residues of $\mathcal{F}$ as multiples of complex numbers by integration currents along irreducible complex subvarieties of $X$. We then prove a formula that determines the Baum-Bott residue of simple almost Liouvillian foliations of codimension one, in terms of Lehmann-Suwa residues, generalizing a result of Marco Brunella. As an application, we give sufficient condi…
We prove that the normal bundle to the Levi foliation of a smooth Levi flat hypersurface does not admit a Hermitian metric with positive curvature along the leaves in compact Kähler manifolds of dimension at least 3. This represents an answer to a conjecture of Marco Brunella.
We explore connections between geometric properties of the Levi foliation of a Levi-flat hypersurface M and holomorphic convexity of compact sets in M, or bounded in part by M. Applications include extendability of Cauchy-Riemann functions, solvability of the dibar_b-equation, approximability of holomorphic and CR functions, and global regularity of the dibar-Neumann operator.
We study singular real analytic Levi-flat subsets invariant by singular holomorphic foliations in complex projective spaces. We give sufficient conditions for a real analytic Levi-flat subset to be the pull-back of a semianalytic Levi-flat hypersurface in a complex projective surface under a rational map or to be the pull-back of a real algebraic curve under a meromorphic function. In particular, we give an application to the case of a singular real analytic Levi-flat hypersurface. Our results improve previous ones due to Lebl and Bretas -- Fernández-Pérez -- Mol.
Let $X$ be a connected complex manifold of dimension $\geq 3$ and $M$ a smooth compact Levi-flat real hypersurface in $X$. We show that the normal bundle to the Levi foliation does not admit a Hermitian metric with positive curvature along the leaves. This generalizes a result obtained by Brunella.
