We construct an alternative uniformly accelerated reference frame based on the 3+1 formalism in adapted coordinates. In this frame, time-dependent redshift drift exists between co-moving observers, which differs from that in Rindler coordinates. This phenomenon can be tested in laboratory and improve our understanding of non-inertial frames.
We show that a system is uniformly accelerated if and only if all of the clocks in the system can be synchronized to each other, and the clocks will remain synchronized as long as the acceleration remains uniform. In particular, it is possible to synchronize clocks on a disk rotating with constant angular velocity. Conventional thinking holds that this is impossible because a time gap invariably arises.
Quantization of the Proca field in the Rindler wedge and the interaction of uniformly accelerated currents with massive vector bosons from the Unruh thermal bath
This paper provides an analytical treatment of accelerated and geodesic motion within the framework of the Friedmann -Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) spacetime. By employing conformal time transformations we manage to convert second order differential equations of motion in FLRW spacetime to first order equations in the conformally transformed spacetime. This allows us to derive a general analytical solution in closed-form for accelerated motion in spatially curved FLRW spacetime. We provide few examples of this general solution for the spatially flat cases. The last part of our work focuses …
The analysis of uniformly longitudinally extended detector is performed and it is shown that the response of such a detector does not differ from the response of the Unruh detector, but the its excitation is caused not by the thermal bath, but by interaction with the fluctuations of the quantum field by virtual quanta.
We study the retarded field sourced by a uniformly accelerated particle in a non-local scalar field theory. While the presence of non-locality regularizes the field at the location of the source, we also show that Lorentz-invariant non-local field theories are particularly sensitive to the somewhat unphysical assumption of uniform acceleration, leading to logarithmic divergences on the acceleration horizon. Analytic properties of the non-local retarded Green function indicate that the divergences can be removed by placing appropriate sources on the acceleration horizon in the asymptotic past.
In this work we study the chiral phase transition as observed by an accelerating observer taking into account the Unruh effect. We use Chiral Perturbation Theory at leading order and the large $N$ limit ($N$ being the number of pions) as an effective description of low-energy QCD, and the Thermalization Theorem to compute the relevant partition function for the accelerating observer. As a result, we obtain that chiral symmetry is restored for uniformly accelerated observers with acceleration $a$ larger than the critical value $a_c=4πf_π$, with $f_π$ being the pion decay constant.
We investigate the quantum radiation emitted by a uniformly accelerated Unruh-DeWitt detector in de Sitter spacetime. We find that there exists a non-vanishing quantum radiation at late times in the radiation zone of the conformally flat coordinates, which cover the region behind the cosmological horizon for the accelerated detector. The theoretical structure of producing the late-time quantum radiation is similar to that of the same model in Minkowski spacetime: it comes from a nonlocal correlation of the quantum field in the Bunch-Davies vacuum state, which can be traced back to the entangle…
In this work we discuss the process of measurements by a detector in an uniformly accelerated rectilinear motion, interacting linearly with a massive scalar field. The detector model for field quanta is a point-like system with a ground state and a continuum of unbounded states. We employ the Glauber theory of photodetection. In an uniformly accelerated reference frame, the detector, interacting with the field prepared in an arbitrary state of the Rindler Fock space, is excited only by absorption processes. For the uniformly accelerated detector prepared in the ground state, we evaluate the tr…
We propose a new form for the quantum master equation in the theory of open quantum systems. This new formalism allows one to describe the dynamics of two-level systems moving along different hyperbolic trajectories with distinct proper times. In the Born-Markov approximation, we consider a quantum massless scalar field coupled with two-level systems. Starting from a separable state we show the emergence of entanglement harvesting. For different proper accelerations we verify also the entanglement sudden death.
We treat an Unruh-DeWitt detector as an open quantum system and evaluate the response of a uniformly accelerated detector: (i) interacting locally with the derivatives of a massless scalar field and (ii) linearly coupled to an electromagnetic field. We find that the early-time transition rate of the detector strongly depends on the type of the interaction between the detector and the quantum field, and may not follow a Planck distribution. In contrast, the late time asymptotic state is always thermal at the Unruh temperature and thus provides a more fundamental and persistent characterization …
We investigate the entanglement dynamics for a quantum system composed of two uniformly accelerated Unruh-DeWitt detectors in different spacetime dimensions. It is found that the range of parameters in which entanglement can be generated is expanded but the amount of generated entanglement is decreased with the increasing spacetime dimension, by calculating the evolution of two-atom states using the method for open quantum systems. We study the entanglement evolution between two accelerated atoms for different initial two-atom states, and the influence of corresponding spacetime dimensions for…
