We firstly introduce some key concepts in category theory, such as quotient category, completion of limits, $\mathrm{Mor}$ category, and so on; then give the concept of topology algebras and sheaves, and discuss how to restore the structue of sheaves from their stalks; lastly, we introduce the sheaf-theoretical expression for topological spaces, and rediscribe some essential items in topology and geometry by defining a kind of generally existing category sheaves.
We show that the category of categories fibred over a site is a generalized Quillen model category in which the weak equivalences are the local equivalences and the fibrant objects are the stacks, as they were defined by J. Giraud. The generalized model category restricts to one on the full subcategory whose objects are the categories fibred in groupoids. We show that the category of sheaves of categories is a model category that is Quillen equivalent to the generalized model category for stacks and to the model category for strong stacks due to A. Joyal and M. Tierney.
We lift Grothendieck-Verdier-Spaltenstein's six functor formalism for derived categories of sheaves on ringed spaces over a field to differential graded enhancements. Our main tools come from enriched model category theory.
Under some assumptions we prove that the Deligne tensor product of categories of constructible perverse sheaves on pseudomanifolds X and Y is the category of constructible perverse sheaves on X\times Y. The Deligne external tensor product functor is identified with the geometrical external tensor product.
We consider categories of generalized perverse sheaves, with relaxed constructibility conditions, by means of the process of gluing $t$-structures and we exhibit explicit abelian categories defined in terms of standard sheaves categories which are equivalent to the former ones. In particular, we are able to realize perverse sheaves categories as non full abelian subcategories of the usual bounded complexes of sheaves categories. Our methods use induction on perversities. In this paper, we restrict ourselves to the two-strata case, but our results extend to the general case.
We show how derived categories build bridges across the current mathematical mainstream, linking geometric and algebraic, commutative and noncommutative, local and global banks. Arches in these bridges are pieces of semiorthogonal decompositions of triangulated categories. To appear in the Proceedings of the ICM 2002 in Beijing.
We study the question when a category of ind-objects is abelian. Our answer allows a further generalization of the notion of weakly Tannakian categories introduced by the author. As an application we show that, under suitable conditions, the category of coherent sheaves on the product of two schemes with the resolution property is given by the Deligne tensor product of the categories of coherent sheaves of the two factors. To do this we prove that the class of quasi-compact and semi-separated schemes with the resolution property is closed under fiber products.
The purpose of this paper is to develop an efficient computational model for Abelian categories of coherent sheaves over certain classes of varieties. These categories are naturally described as Serre quotient categories. Hence, our approach relies on describing general Serre quotient categories in a constructive way which leads to an efficient computer implementation.
We introduce new enhancements for the bounded derived category $D^b(Coh(X))$ of coherent sheaves on a suitable scheme $X$ and for its subcategory $Perf(X)$ of perfect complexes. They are used for translating Fourier-Mukai functors to functors between derived categories of dg algebras, for relating homological smoothness of $Perf(X)$ to geometric smoothness of $X,$ and for proving homological smoothness of $D^b(Coh(X)).$ Moreover, we characterize properness of $Perf(X)$ and $D^b(Coh(X))$ geometrically.
In this paper we establish an equivalence between the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W and the triangulated category of singularities of the fiber of W over zero. The main result is a theorem that shows that the graded triangulated category of singularities of the cone over a projective variety is connected via a fully faithful functor to the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on the base of the cone. This implies that the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W …
We consider categorical and geometric purity for sheaves of modules over a scheme satisfying some mild conditions, both for the category of all sheaves and for the category of quasicoherent sheaves. We investigate the relations between these four purities and compute a number of examples, in particular describing both the geometric and categorical Ziegler spectra for the category of quasicoherent sheaves over the projective line over a field.
The paper contains general results on the uniqueness of a DG enhancement for triangulated categories. As a consequence we obtain such uniqueness for the unbounded categories of quasi-coherent sheaves, for the triangulated categories of perfect complexes, and for the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves on quasi-projective schemes. If a scheme is projective then we also prove a strong uniqueness for the triangulated category of perfect complexes and for the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves. These results directly imply that fully faithful functors from the bounded derive…
For a quasi-compact quasi-separated scheme X and an arbitrary scheme Y we show that the pullback construction implements an equivalence between the discrete category of morphisms Y --> X and the category of cocontinuous tensor functors Qcoh(X) --> Qcoh(Y). This is an improvement of a result by Lurie and may be interpreted as the statement that algebraic geometry is 2-affine. Moreover, we prove the analogous version of this result for Durov's notion of generalized schemes over F_1.
Our aim is to give a fairly complete account on the construction of compatible model structures on exact categories and symmetric monoidal exact categories, in some cases generalizing previously known results. We describe the close connection of this theory to approximation theory and cotorsion pairs. We also discuss the motivating applications with the emphasis on constructing monoidal model structures for the derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves of modules over a scheme.
Let C be small category and A an arbitrary category. Consider the category C(A) whose objects are functors from C to A, and whose morphisms are natural transformations. Given a functor F : A --> B one obtains an induced functor F_C : C(A) --> C(B) . If A and B are abelian categories, we have that C(A) and C(B) are also abelian, and one has two functors R(F_C) : D(C(A)) --> D(C(B)) and (RF)_ C : C(D(A)) --> C(D (B)). The goals of this paper are: 1) to find a relationship between D (C(A)) and C(D(A)); 2) to relate the functors R(F_C) and (RF)_C. As an application, we prove a version of Mukai's T…
We present a fully abstract model of a call-by-value language with higher-order functions, recursion and natural numbers, as an exponential ideal in a topos. Our model is inspired by the fully abstract models of O'Hearn, Riecke and Sandholm, and Marz and Streicher. In contrast with semantics based on cpo's, we treat recursion as just one feature in a model built by combining a choice of modular components.
Let $G$ be a finite subgroup in SU(2), and $Q$ the corresponding affine Dynkin diagram. In this paper, we review the relation between the categories of $G$-equivariant sheaves on $P^1$ and $Rep Q_h$, where $h$ is an orientation of $Q$, constructing an explicit equivalence of corresponding derived categories.
Under certain conditions, a scheme can be reconstructed from its category of quasi-coherent sheaves. The Tannakian reconstruction theorem provides another example where a geometric object can be reconstructed from an associated category, in this case the category of its finite dimensional representations. Lurie's result that the pseudofunctor which sends a geometric stack to its category of quasi-coherent sheaves is fully faithful provides a conceptual explanation for why this works. In this paper we prove a generalized Tannakian recognition theorem, in order to characterize a part of the imag…
In this thesis we study two main topics which culminate in a proof that four distinct definitions of the equivariant derived category of a smooth algebraic group $G$ acting on a variety $X$ are in fact equivalent. In the first part of this thesis we introduce and study equivariant categories on a quasi-projective variety $X$. These are a generalization of the equivariant derived category of Lusztig and are indexed by certain pseudofunctors that take values in the 2-category of categories. This 2-categorical generalization allow us to prove rigorously and carefully when such categories are addi…
Constructible sheaves of abelian groups on a stratified space can be equivalently described in terms of representations of the exit-path category. In this work, we provide a similar presentation of the abelian category of perverse sheaves on a stratified surface in terms of representations of the so-called paracyclic category of the surface. The category models a hybrid exit-entrance behaviour with respect to chosen sectors of direction, placing it "in between" exit and entrance path categories. In particular, this perspective yields an intrinsic definition of perverse sheaves as an abelian ca…
We construct a weak representation of the category of framed affine tangles on a disjoint union of triangulated categories ${\mathcal D}_{2n}$. The categories we use are that of coherent sheaves on Springer fibers over a nilpotent element of $sl_{2n}$ with two equal Jordan blocks. This representation allows us to enumerate the irreducible objects in the heart of the exotic $t$-structure on ${\mathcal D}_{2n}$ by crossingless matchings of $2n$ points on a circle. We also describe the algebra of endomorphisms of the direct sum of the irreducible objects.
We introduce \emph{flagged $(\infty,n)$-categories} and prove that they are equivalent to Segal sheaves on Joyal's category ${\mathbfΘ}_n$. As such, flagged $(\infty,n)$-categories provide a model-independent formulation of Segal sheaves. This result generalizes the statement that $n$-groupoid objects in spaces are effective, as we explain and contextualize. Along the way, we establish a useful expression for the univalent-completion of such a Segal sheaf. Finally, we conjecture a characterization of flagged $(\infty,n)$-categories as stacks on $(\infty,n)$-categories that satisfy descent with…
The notion of Hochschild cochains induces an assignment from $Aff$, affine DG schemes, to monoidal DG categories. We show that this assignment extends, under some appropriate finiteness conditions, to a functor $\mathbb H: Aff \to AlgBimod(DGCat)$, where the latter denotes the category of monoidal DG categories and bimodules. Now, any functor $\mathbb A: Aff \to AlgBimod(DGCat)$ gives rise, by taking modules, to a theory of sheaves of categories $ShvCat^{\mathbb A}$. In this paper, we study $ShvCat^{\mathbb H}$. Vaguely speaking, this theory categorifies the theory of D-modules, in the same wa…
For a large class of geometric objects, the passage to categories of quasi-coherent sheaves provides an embedding in the 2-category of abelian tensor categories. The notion of weakly Tannakian categories introduced by the author gives a characterization of tensor categories in the image of this embedding. However, this notion requires additional structure to be present, namely a fiber functor. For the case of classical Tannakian categories in characteristic zero, Deligne has found intrinsic properties - expressible entirely within the language of tensor categories - which are necessary and suf…
We present an alternate proof of Giraud's Theorem based on the fact that given the conditions on a category E for being a topos, its objects are sheaves by construction. Generalizing sets to R-modules for R a commutative ring, we prove that a category with small hom-sets and finite limits is equivalent to a category of sheaves of R-modules on a site if and only if it satisfies Giraud's axioms and in addition is enriched in a certain symmetric monoidal category parametrized by an R-module.
Algebraic structures involving both multiplications and comultiplications (such as, e.g., bialgebras or Hopf algebras) can be encoded using PROPs (categories with PROducts and Permutations) of Adams and MacLane. To encode such structures on objects of a braided monoidal category, we need PROBs (braided analogs of PROPs). Colored PROBs correspond to multi-sorted structures. In particular, we have a colored PROB B governing non-negatively graded bialgebras in braided categories. As a category, B splits into blocks B_n according to the grading. We relate B_n with the category P_n of perverse shea…
It is proved that the category of simplicial complete bornological spaces over $\mathbb R$ carries a combinatorial monoidal model structure satisfying the monoid axiom. For any commutative monoid in this category the category of modules is also a monoidal model category with all cofibrant objects being flat. In particular, weak equivalences between these monoids induce Quillen equivalences between the corresponding categories of modules. On the other hand, it is also proved that the functor of pre-compact bornology applied to simplicial $C^\infty$-rings preserves and reflects weak equivalences…
We give sufficient conditions to ensure that the ideal $Φ(\mathcal E)$ of $\mathcal E$-phantom maps in a locally $λ$-presentable exact category $(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{E})$ is (special) (pre)covering ideal, where $\mathcal E$ is an exact substructure of $(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{E})$. As a byproduct, we infer the existence of various covering ideals in categories of sheaves which have a meaningful geometrical motivation. In particular we deal with a Zariski-local notion of phantom maps in categories of sheaves. We would like to point out that our approach is necessarily different from [FGHT13], …
If $X$ is a quasi-compact and quasi-separated scheme, the category $Qcoh(X)$ of quasi-coherent sheaves on $X$ is locally finitely presented. Therefore categorical flat quasi-coherent sheaves naturally arise. But there is also the standard definition of flatness in $Qcoh(X)$ from the stalks. So it makes sense to wonder the relationship (if any) between these two notions. In this paper we show that there are plenty of locally finitely presented categories having no other categorical flats than the zero object. As particular instance, we show that $Qcoh(\mathbf{P}^n(R)))$ has no other categorical…
