We consider Mc Kean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations (MVSDEs), which are SDEs where the drift and diffusion coefficients depend not only on the state of the unknown process but also on its probability distribution. This type of SDEs was studied in statistical physics and represents the natural setting for stochastic mean-field games. We will first discuss questions of existence and uniqueness of solutions under an Osgood type condition improving the well known Lipschitz case. Then we derive various stability properties with respect to initial data, coefficients and driving processes, generalizing known results for classical SDEs. Finally, we establish a result on the approximation of the solution of a MVSDE associated to a relaxed control by the solutions of the same equation associated to strict controls. As a consequence, we show that the relaxed and strict control problems have the same value function. This last property improves known results proved for a special class of MVSDEs, where the dependence on the distribution was made via a linear functional. Key words: Mc Kean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation -- Stability -- Martingale measure - Wasserstein metric -- Existence -- Mean-field control -- Relaxed control.
We introduce a class of abstract nonlinear fractional pseudo-differential equations in Banach spaces that includes both the Mc-Kean-Vlasov-type equations describing nonlinear Markov processes and the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman(HJB)-Isaacs equation of stochastic control and games thus allowing for a unified analysis of these equations. This leads to an effective theory of coupled forward-backward systems (forward McKean-Vlasov evolution and backward HJB-Isaacs evolution) that are central to the modern theory of mean-field games.
We consider various approximation properties for systems driven by a Mc Kean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations (MVSDEs) with continuous coefficients, for which pathwise uniqueness holds. We prove that the solution of such equations is stable with respect to small perturbation of initial conditions, parameters and driving processes. Moreover, the unique strong solutions may be constructed by effective approximation procedures, without using the famous Yamada-Watanabe theorem. Finally we show that the set of bounded uniformly continuous coefficients for which the corresponding MVSDE have …
We consider the hydrodynamic limit in the macroscopic regime of the coupled system of stochastic differential equations, $ dλ_t^i=\frac{1}{\sqrt{N}} dW_t^i - V'(λ_t^i) dt+ \fracβ{2N} \sum_{j\not=i} \frac{dt}{λ^i_t-λ^j_t}, \qquad i=1,\ldots,N, $ with $β>1$, sometimes called generalized Dyson's Brownian motion, describing the dissipative dynamics of a log-gas of $N$ equal charges with equilibrium measure corresponding to a $β$-ensemble, with sufficiently regular convex potential $V$. The limit $N\to\infty$ is known to satisfy a mean-field Mc Kean-Vlasov equation. Fluctuations around this limit h…
In this paper, we present sufficient conditions and criteria to establish the large and moderate deviation principle of multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation by means of the weak convergence method.
We study ergodic properties of nonlinear Markov chains and stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations. For nonlinear Markov chains we obtain sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of an invariant measure and uniform ergodicity. We also prove optimality of these conditions. For stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations we establish exponential convergence of their solutions to stationarity in the total variation metric under Veretennikov-Khasminskii-type conditions.
In this article, the path independent property of additive functionals of McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations with jumps is characterised by nonlinear partial integro-differential equations involving $L$-derivatives with respect to probability measures introduced by P.-L. Lions. Our result extends the recent work [16] by Ren and Wang where their concerned McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations are driven by Brownian motions.
The work concerns deviation estimates for multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. First of all, we prove the large deviation principle for them by the weak convergence approach. Then the central limit theorem for them is shown with the help of a formula for $L$-derivatives. Finally, we establish the moderate deviation principle for them.
In this paper we study a type of stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations with non-Lipschitz coefficients. Firstly, by an Euler-Maruyama approximation existence of its weak solutions is proved. And then we observe pathwise uniqueness of its weak solutions. Finally, it is shown that the Euler-Maruyama approximation has an optimal strong convergence rate.
The work concerns a class of path-dependent McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations with unknown parameters. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of these equations under non-Lipschitz conditions. Second, we construct maximum likelihood estimators of these parameters and then discuss their strong consistency. Third, a numerical simulation method for the class of path-dependent McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations is offered. Moreover, we estimate the errors between solutions of these equations and that of their numerical equations. Finally, we give an example to expl…
The work concerns invariant measures for multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. First of all, we prove the exponential ergodicity of these equations. Then for a sequence of these equations, when their coefficients converge in the suitable sense, the convergence of corresponding strong solutions are presented. Finally, based on the convergence of these solutions, we establish the convergence of corresponding invariant measures.
This paper is devoted to investigating the Freidlin-Wentzell's large deviation principle for a class of McKean-Vlasov quasilinear SPDEs perturbed by small multiplicative noise. We adopt the variational framework and the modified weak convergence criteria to prove the Laplace principle for McKean-Vlasov type SPDEs, which is equivalent to the large deviation principle. Moreover, we do not assume any compactness condition of embedding in the Gelfand triple to handle both the cases of bounded and unbounded domains in applications. The main results can be applied to various McKean-Vlasov type SPDEs…
In this paper, we consider a class of Mckean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation with oblique reflection over an non-smooth time dependent domain. We establish the existence and uniqueness results of this class, address the propagation of chaos and prove a Fredlin-Wentzell type large deviations principle (LDP). One of the main difficulties is raised by the setting of non-smooth time dependent domain. To prove the LDP, a sufficient condition for the weak convergence method, which is suitable for Mckean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation, plays an important role.
In this paper we analyze a stochastic interpretation of the one-dimensional parabolic-parabolic Keller-Segel system without cut-off. It involves an original type of McKean-Vlasov interaction kernel. At the particle level, each particle interacts with all the past of each other particle by means of a time integrated functional involving a singular kernel. At the mean-field level studied here, the McKean-Vlasov limit process interacts with all the past time marginals of its probability distribution in a similarly singular way. We prove that the parabolic-parabolic Keller-Segel system in the whol…
In this paper we consider the stability for a type of stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations with non-Lipschitz coefficients. First, sufficient conditions are given for the exponential stability of the second moments for their solutions in terms of a Lyapunov function. Then we weaken the conditions and furthermore obtain exponentially 2-ultimate boundedness of their solutions. After this, the almost surely asymptotic stability of their solutions is proved. Finally we give an example to motivate the choice of Lyapunov functions.
In this paper, we aim to study the asymptotic behaviour for a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations with slow and fast time-scales. Using the variational approach and classical Khasminskii time discretization, we show that the slow component strongly converges to the solution of the associated averaged equation. In particular, the corresponding convergence rates are also obtained. The main results can be applied to demonstrate the averaging principle for various McKean-Vlasov nonlinear SPDEs such as stochastic porous media type equation, stochastic $p$-Laplace type e…
The purpose of this paper is to provide a detailed probabilistic analysis of the optimal control of nonlinear stochastic dynamical systems of the McKean Vlasov type. Motivated by the recent interest in mean field games, we highlight the connection and the differences between the two sets of problems. We prove a new version of the stochastic maximum principle and give sufficient conditions for existence of an optimal control. We also provide examples for which our sufficient conditions for existence of an optimal solution are satisfied. Finally we show that our solution to the control problem p…
We propose a new algorithm to approach weakly the solution of a McKean-Vlasov SDE. Based on the cubature method of Lyons and Victoir 2004, the algorithm is deterministic differing from the the usual methods based on interacting particles. It can be parametrized in order to obtain a given order of convergence. Then, we construct implementable algorithms to solve decoupled Forward Backward Stochastic Differential equations (FBSDE) of McKean-Vlasov type, which appear in some stochastic control problems in a mean field environment. We give two algorithms and show that they have convergence of orde…
In this article, we prove the existence of weak solutions as well as the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions for McKean-Vlasov multivalued stochastic differential equations with oblique subgradients (MVMSDEswOS, for short) by means of the equations of Euler type and Skorohod's representation theorem. For this type of equation, compared with the method in [19,13], since we can't use the maximal monotony property of its constituent subdifferential operator, some different specific techniques are applied to solve our problems. Afterwards, we give an example for MVMSDEswOS with time-depen…
Under a Lipschitz condition on distribution dependent coefficients, the central limit theorem and the moderate deviation principle are obtained for solutions of McKean-Vlasov type stochastic differential equations, which extend from the corresponding results for classical stochastic differential equations to the distribution dependent setting.
We study a class of McKean-Vlasov type stochastic differential equations (SDEs) which arise from the random vortex dynamics and other physics models. By introducing a new approach we resolve the existence and uniqueness of both the weak and strong solutions for the McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations whose coefficients are defined in terms of singular integral kernels such as the Biot-Savart kernel. These SDEs which involve the distributions of solutions are in general not Lipschitz continuous with respect to the usual distances on the space of distributions such as the Wasserstein…
In this paper, we consider the averaging principle for a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations with slow and fast time-scales. Under some proper assumptions on the coefficients, we first prove that the slow component strongly converges to the solution of the corresponding averaged equation with convergence order $1/3$ using the approach of time discretization. Furthermore, under stronger regularity conditions on the coefficients, we use the technique of Poisson equation to improve the order to $1/2$, which is the optimal order of strong convergence in general.
In this paper, we prove pathwise uniqueness for stochastic systems of McKean-Vlasov type with singular drift, even in the measure argument, and uniformly non-degenerate Lipschitz diffusion matrix. Our proof is based on Zvonkin's transformation \cite{zvonkin\_transformation\_1974} and so on the regularization properties of the associated PDE, which is stated on the space $[0,T]\times \R^d\times \mathcal{P}\_2(\R^d)$, where $T$ is a positive number, $d$ denotes the dimension equation and $\mathcal{P}\_2(\R^d)$ is the space of probability measures on $\R^d$ with finite second order moment. Especi…
The work concerns a type of backward multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for backward multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. Then, it is presented that their solutions depend continuously on the terminal values. Finally, we give a probabilistic interpretation for viscosity solutions of nonlocal quasi-linear parabolic variational inequalities.
This work concerns a type of coupled McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations (MVSDEs in short) with jumps. First, we prove superposition principles for these coupled MVSDEs with jumps and non-local space-distribution dependent Fokker-Planck equations. Since superposition principles are related to the well-posedness of weak solutions for coupled MVSDEs with jumps, then we give some conditions to assure it. After this, we construct space-distribution valued Markov processes associated with these coupled MVSDEs with jumps. Finally, the ergodicity of these coupled MVSDEs with jumps are inv…
This paper presents a new view of household epidemic models, where the interaction between the households is of mean field type. We thus obtain in the limit of infinitely many households a nonlinear Markov process solution of a McKean - Vlasov type Poisson driven SDE, and a propagation of chaos result. We also define a basic reproduction number R0, and show that if R0>1, then the nonlinear Markov process has a unique non trivial ergodic invariant probability measure, whereas if R0<=1, it converges to 0 as t tends to infinity.
In this paper we consider a class of {\it conditional McKean-Vlasov SDEs} (CMVSDE for short). Such an SDE can be considered as an extended version of McKean-Vlasov SDEs with common noises, as well as the general version of the so-called {\it conditional mean-field SDEs} (CMFSDE) studied previously by the authors [1, 14], but with some fundamental differences. In particular, due to the lack of compactness of the iterated conditional laws, the existing arguments of Schauder's fixed point theorem do not seem to apply in this situation, and the heavy nonlinearity on the conditional laws caused by …
In this paper, we first study the well-posedness of a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations driven by cylindrical $α$-stable process, where $α\in(1,2)$. Then by the method of the Khasminskii's time discretization, we prove the averaging principle of a class of multiscale McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations driven by cylindrical $α$-stable processes. Meanwhile, we obtain a specific strong convergence rate.
We propose a simple and original approach for solving linear-quadratic mean-field stochastic control problems. We study both finite-horizon and infinite-horizon pro\-blems, and allow notably some coefficients to be stochastic. Extension to the common noise case is also addressed. Our method is based on a suitable version of the martingale formulation for verification theorems in control theory. The optimal control involves the solution to a system of Riccati ordinary differential equations and to a linear mean-field backward stochastic differential equation; existence and uniqueness conditions…
This paper studies the numerical methods to approximate the solutions for a sort of McKean-Vlasov neutral stochastic differential delay equations (MV-NSDDEs) that the growth of the drift coefficients is super-linear. First, We obtain that the solution of MV-NSDDE exists and is unique. Then, we use a stochastic particle method, which is on the basis of the results about the propagation of chaos between particle system and the original MV-NSDDE, to deal with the approximation of the law. Furthermore, we construct the tamed Euler-Maruyama numerical scheme with respect to the corresponding particl…
