We introduce a new type of models for two-component systems in one dimension subject to exact solutions by Bethe ansatz, where the interspecies interactions are tunable via Feshbach resonant interactions. The applicability of Bethe ansatz is obtained by fine-tuning the resonant energies, and the resulting systems can be described by introducing intraspecies repulsive and interspecies attractive couplings $c_1$ and $c_2$. This kind of systems admits two types of interesting solutions: In the regime with $c_1>c_2$, the ground state is a Fermi sea of two-strings, where the Fermi momentum $Q$ is constrained to be smaller than a certain value $Q^*$, and it provides an ideal scenario to realize BCS-BEC crossover (from weakly attractive atoms to weakly repulsive molecules) in one dimension; In the opposite regime with $c_1<c_2$, the ground state is a single bright soliton even for fermionic atoms, which reveals itself as an embedded string solution.
Three-body exclusion principle, duality mapping, and exact ground state of a harmonically trapped, ultracold Bose gas with three-body hard-core interactions in one dimension
This paper discusses exact relations in Bose--Einstein condensates (BECs), starting from basic properties of an ideal Bose gas. In particular, focused on are the Hugenholtz--Pines relation, Nepomnyashchii--Nepomnyashchii identity, and identities for the density response function. After introducing these exact relations, a few approaches of many-body approximations are discussed, which satisfy the exact relations in BECs. This paper will serve as a bridge between theories on exact relations and those on approximations in BECs.
Recent developments of experimental techniques in the field of ultra-cold gases open a path to study the crossover from 'few' to 'many' on the quantum level. In this case, accurate description of inter-particle correlations is very important since it is believed that they can be utilized by quantum engineers in quantum metrology, quantum thermometry, quantum heat engines, {\it etc}. Unfortunately, a theoretical description of these correlations is very challenging since they are far beyond any variational approaches. By contrast, the exact many-body description rapidly hits numerical limitatio…
We derive relations between various observables for N particles with zero-range or short-range interactions, in continuous space or on a lattice, in two or three dimensions, in an arbitrary external potential. Some of our results generalise known relations between large-momentum behavior of the momentum distribution, short-distance behavior of the pair correlation function and of the one-body density matrix, derivative of the energy with respect to the scattering length or to time, and the norm of the regular part of the wavefunction; in the case of finite-range interactions, the interaction e…
We study interacting ultracold atoms in a three-dimensional (3D) harmonic trap with spin-selective dissipations, which can be effectively described by non-Hermitian parity-time ($\mathcal{PT}$) symmetric Hamiltonians. By solving the non-Hermitian two-body problem of spin-1/2 (spin-1) bosons in a 3D harmonic trap exactly, we find that the system can exhibit third-order (fifth-order) exceptional point (EP) with ultra-sensitive cube-root (fifth-root) spectral response due to interaction anisotropies in spin channels. We also present the general principle for the creation of high-order EPs and the…
Knowledge of the ground state of a homogeneous quantum many-body system can be used to find the exact ground state of a dual inhomogeneous system with a confining potential. For the complete family of parent Hamiltonians with a ground state of Bijl-Jastrow form in free space, the dual system is shown to include a one-body harmonic potential and two-body long-range interactions. The extension to anharmonic potentials and quantum solids with Nosanov-Jastrow wavefunctions is also presented. We apply this exact mapping to construct eigenstates of trapped systems from free-space solutions with a va…
A recent experiment in the Rydberg atom chain observed unusual oscillatory quench dynamics with a charge density wave initial state, and theoretical works identified a set of many-body "scar states" showing nonthermal behavior in the Hamiltonian as potentially responsible for the atypical dynamics. In the same nonintegrable Hamiltonian, we discover several eigenstates at \emph{infinite temperature} that can be represented exactly as matrix product states with finite bond dimension, for both periodic boundary conditions (two exact $E = 0$ states) and open boundary conditions (two $E = 0$ states…
Quantum many-body scars have attracted much interest as a violation of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) due to recent experimental observation in Rydberg atoms and related theoretical studies. In this paper, we construct a model hosting exact Floquet quantum many-body scars, which violate the Floquet version of ETH. We consider two uniformly-driven static Hamiltonians prohibiting neighboring up spins (Rydberg blockade) like the PXP model, and construct a binary drive composed of them. We show that there exists a four-dimensional subspace which completely avoids thermalization to …
Quantum many-body scar states are exceptional finite energy density eigenstates in an otherwise thermalizing system that do not satisfy the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis. We investigate the fate of exact many-body scar states under perturbations. At small system sizes, deformed scar states described by perturbation theory survive. However, we argue for their eventual thermalization in the thermodynamic limit from the finite-size scaling of the off-diagonal matrix elements. Nevertheless, we show numerically and analytically that the nonthermal properties of the scars survive for a parame…

In this work, we construct an exact projector Hamiltonian with interactions, which is given by a sum of mutually commuting operators called stabilizers. The model is based on the recently studied Creutz-ladder of fermions, in which flat-band structure and strong localization are realized. These stabilizers are local integrals of motion from which many-body localization (MBL) is realized. All energy eigenstates are explicitly obtained even in the presence of local disorders. All states are MBL states, that is, this system is a full many-body localized (FMBL) system. We show that this system has…
We consider the many-body system of neutrinos interacting with each other through neutral current weak force. Emerging many-body effects in such a system could play important roles in some astrophysical sites such as the core collapse supernovae. In the literature this many-body system is usually treated within the mean field approximation which is an effective one-body description based on omitting entangled neutrino states. In this paper, we consider the original many-body system in an effective two flavor mixing scenario under the single angle approximation and present a solution without us…
We use the Bethe Ansatz technique to study dissipative systems experiencing loss. The method allows us to exactly calculate the Liouvillian spectrum. This opens the possibility of analytically calculating the dynamics of a wide range of experimentally relevant models including cold atoms subjected to one and two body losses, coupled cavity arrays with bosons escaping the cavity, and cavity quantum electrodynamics. As an example of our approach we study the relaxation properties in a boundary driven XXZ spin chain. We exactly calculate the Liouvillian gap and find different relaxation rates wit…
We investigate the full quantum evolution of ultracold interacting bosonic atoms on a chain and coupled to an optical cavity. Extending the time-dependent matrix product state techniques and the many-body adiabatic elimination technique to capture the global coupling to the cavity mode and the open nature of the cavity, we examine the long time behavior of the system beyond the mean-field elimination of the cavity field. We investigate the many body steady states and the self-organization transition for a wide range of parameters. We show that in the self-organized phase the steady state consi…
We present a major update to QuSpin, SciPostPhys.2.1.003 -- an open-source Python package for exact diagonalization and quantum dynamics of arbitrary boson, fermion and spin many-body systems, supporting the use of various (user-defined) symmetries in one and higher dimension and (imaginary) time evolution following a user-specified driving protocol. We explain how to use the new features of QuSpin using seven detailed examples of various complexity: (i) the transverse-field Ising chain and the Jordan-Wigner transformation, (ii) free particle systems: the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model, (iii…
Bose-Einstein condensates with balanced gain and loss in a double-well potential have been shown to exhibit PT-symmetric states. As proposed by Kreibich et al [Phys. Rev. A 87, 051601(R) (2013)], in the mean-field limit the dynamical behaviour of this system, especially that of the PT-symmetric states, can be simulated by embedding it into a Hermitian four-well system with time-dependent parameters. In this paper we go beyond the mean-field approximation and investigate many-body effects in this system, which are in lowest order described by the single-particle density matrix. The conditions f…
Quantum scars are non-thermal eigenstates characterized by low entanglement entropy, initially detected in systems subject to nearest-neighbor Rydberg blockade, the so called PXP model. While most of these special eigenstates elude an analytical description and seem to hybridize with nearby thermal eigenstates for large systems, some of them can be written as matrix product states (MPS) with size-independent bond dimension. We study the response of these exact quantum scars to perturbations by analysing the scaling of the fidelity susceptibility with system size. We find that some of them are …
We investigate the transition from the many-body localized phase to the ergodic thermalized phase at an infinite temperature in an $XY$ spin chain with $L$ spins, which experiences power-law decaying interactions in the form of $V_{ij}\propto1/\left|i-j\right|^α$ ($i,j=1,\cdots,L$) and a random transverse field. By performing large-scale exact diagonalization for the chain size up to $L=18$, we systematically analyze the energy gap statistics, half-chain entanglement entropy, and uncertainty of the entanglement entropy of the system at different interaction exponents $α$. The finite-size criti…
