We investigate the possible deuteron-like molecules composed of a pair of charmed spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ baryons, or one charmed baryon and one charmed antibaryon within the one-boson-exchange (OBE) model. For the spin singlet and triplet systems, we consider the couple channel effect between systems with different orbital angular momentum. Most of the systems have binding solutions. The couple channel effect plays a significant role in the formation of some loosely bound states. The possible molecular states of $Ω_c^*Ω_c^*$ and $Ω_c^*\barΩ_c^*$ might be stable once produced.
We report on the calculation of the CP-violating form factor $F_3$ and the corresponding electric dipole moment for charmed baryons in the spin-1/2 sector generated by the QCD $θ$-term. We work in the framework of covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory within the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme up to next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion.
We provide an extensive study of the lifetimes of singly charmed baryons and mesons, within the heavy quark expansion with all known corrections included. A special attention is devoted to the choice of the charm mass and wavefunctions of heavy baryons. We give our predictions for lifetimes, lifetime ratios, and semileptonic branching ratios of singly charmed baryons. Our results accommodate the experimentally-favoured hierarchy of singly charmed baryon lifetimes \begin{eqnarray*} τ\left(Ξ_c^{0}\right) < τ\left(Λ_c^{+}\right)< τ\left(Ω_c^{0}\right) < τ\left(Ξ_c^{+}\right)\, \end{eqnarray*} in …
We systematically derive the analytical expressions of the magnetic moments of the spin-$1\over 2$ singly charmed baryons to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). We discuss the analytical relations between the magnetic moments. We estimate the-low energy constants (LECs) in two scenarios. In the first scenario, we use the quark model and Lattice QCD simulation results as input. In the second scenario, the heavy quark symmetry is adopted to reduce the number of the independent LECs, which are then fitted using the data from the Lattice QCD s…
We compute the masses of the singly and doubly charmed baryons in full QCD using the relativistic Fermilab action for the charm quark. For the light quarks we use domain-wall fermions in the valence sector and improved Kogut-Susskind sea quarks. We use the low-lying charmonium spectrum to tune our heavy-quark action and as a guide to understanding the discretization errors associated with the heavy quark. Our results are in good agreement with experiment within our systematics. For the Ξ_{cc}, we find the isospin-averaged mass to be M_{Ξ_{cc}} = 3665 +/- 17 +/- 14 +0 -78 MeV; the three given u…
The magnetic moments, transition magnetic moments and the radiative decay widths of singly charmed baryons are calculated with $ {J^P = \frac{1}{2}}^+$ and $ {J^P = \frac{3}{2}}^+$ in the constitute quark model. Further, the strong decay rates for $ S $, $ P $ and $ D $ wave transitions are also presented. The singly charmed baryon masses used in the calculations were obtained from the hypercentral Constitute Quark Model (hCQM) without and with first order relativistic correction. Obtained results are compared with experimental observation as well as with the other theoretical predictions.
Recent experimental advances have reignited theoretical interests in heavy-flavor hadrons. In this work, we study the magnetic moments of the spin-1/2 singly charmed baryons up to the next-to-leading order in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory with the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. The pertinent low energy constants $g_{1-4}$ are fixed with the help of the quark model and the heavy quark spin flavor symmetry, while the remaining $d_2$, $d_3$, $d_5$ and $d_6$ are determined by fitting to the lattice QCD pion-mass dependent data. We study the magnetic moments as a funct…
In the paper, we study the production of pentaquark $\bar{c}q qqq$ from singly bottom baryon. The tensor representations of pentaquark $\bar{c}q qqq$ are completed at first. Under the light quark symmetry analysis, we decompose the singly charmed pentaquarks into $6$, $15$ and $15'$ multiple states, and deduce the representations of these states. Then we construct the production Hamiltonian of the multiple states in proper order. For completeness, we systematically study the production channels of pentaquark states, including the possible production amplitudes and cross section relations betwe…
We present the ground and excited state spectra of singly, doubly and triply-charmed baryons by using dynamical lattice QCD. A large set of baryonic operators that respect the symmetries of the lattice and are obtained after subduction from their continuum analogues are utilized. These operators transform as irreducible representations of SU(3)$_F$ symmetry for flavour, SU(4) symmetry for Dirac spins of quarks and O(3) symmetry for orbital angular momenta. Using novel computational techniques correlation functions of these operators are generated and the variational method is exploited to extr…
Hadron masses are calculated in quenched lattice QCD with a fermion action of the D234 type on an anisotropic lattice. Hyperfine splittings for singly charmed baryons are found to be in agreement with expectations from the quark model and with a magnitude slightly larger than experimental values. Masses of doubly charmed baryons are also calculated and compared to a variety of model calculations. Hyperfine splittings in doubly charmed baryons are found to be slightly smaller than in singly charmed states.
We calculate the magnetic moments of spin-$3\over 2$ singly charmed baryons in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). The analytical expressions are given up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$. The heavy quark symmetry is used to reduce the number of low energy constants (LECs). With the lattice QCD simulation data as the magnetic moments of the charmed baryons, the numerical results are given up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ in three scenarios. In the first scenario, we use the results in the quark model as the leading order input. In the second scenario, we use the heavy quark symmetry and neglect…
We investigate the electromagnetic transitions of the singly charmed baryons with spin 3/2, based on a pion mean-field approach, also known as the chiral quark-soliton model, taking into account the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. We examine the valence- and sea-quark contributions to the electromagnetic transition form factors and find that the quadrupole form factors of the sea-quark contributions dominate over those of the valence-quark ones in the smaller $Q^2$ region, whereas the sea quarks only provide marginal contributions to the magnet…
We study the masses of radial and orbital excited states of nonstrange singly charmed baryons in the framework of hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). To obtain the mass spectra, the Coulomb plus screened potential is employed with the first order correction, which gives a relativistic effect of order $\cal{O}$$(1/m)$. The spin-spin, spin-orbit and tensor interactions are included (perturbatively as a spin dependent potential) in order to generate the splitting in mass spectra. We compare our computed mass spectra of nonstrange singly charmed baryons with the other theoretical predicti…
Excited states masses of the strange singly charmed baryons are calculated using the non-relativistic approach of hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). The hyper-Coulomb plus screened potential is used as a confinement potential with the first order correction. The spin-spin, spin-orbit and spin-tensor interaction terms are included perturbatively. Our calculated masses are allowed to construct the Regge trajectories in both $(n_r, M^2)$ and $(J, M^2)$ planes. The mass spectra and the Regge trajectories study predict the spin-parity of $Ξ{_c(2970)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(3080)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(312…
Mass spectra of excited states of the singly charmed baryons are calculated using the hypercentral description of three body system. The baryon consist of a charm quark and light quarks (u, d and s) are studied in the framework of QCD motivated constituent quark model. The form of confinement potential is hyper coloumb plus power potential with potential index $ν$, varying from 0.5 to 2.0. The first order correction to the confinement potential is also incorporated in this approach. The radial as well as orbital excited state masses of $Σ_{c}^{++}, Σ_{c}^+, Σ_{c}^0, Ξ_c^+, Ξ_c^0, Λ_c^+, Ω_c^0$…

As a continuation of our recent work on the electromagnetic properties of the doubly charmed $Ξ_{cc}$ baryon, we compute the charge radii and the magnetic moments of the singly charmed $Σ_c$, $Ω_c$ and the doubly charmed $Ω_{cc}$ baryons in 2+1 flavor Lattice QCD. In general, the charmed baryons are found to be compact as compared to the proton. The charm quark acts to decrease the size of the baryons to smaller values. We discuss the mechanism behind the dependence of the charge radii on the light valence- and sea-quark masses. The magnetic moments are found to be almost stable with respect t…
Approximate heavy-quark spin and flavor symmetry and chiral symmetry play an important role in our understanding of the nonperturbative regime of strong interactions. In this work, utilizing the unitarized chiral perturbation theory, we explore the consequences of these symmetries in the description of the interactions between the ground-state singly charmed (bottom) baryons and the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. In particular, at leading order in the chiral expansion, by fixing the only parameter in the theory to reproduce the $Λ_b(5912)$ [$Λ_b^*(5920)$] or the $Λ_c(2595)$ [$Λ_c^*(2625)$], we…
The weak decay of charmed baryons multiplets into ground state and mesons are investigated using current algebra technique. Some of the interesting results on the partial decays rates and the asymmetry parameters for $Δ$C=$Δ$S=-1 the mode are calculated and consequences discussed
We propose a modification of the mechanism of charmed quarks fragmentation into $D$ mesons in hadronic collisions. It is shown that the distinction in valence quark distributions in the initial $π^{\pm}$ and $K^{\pm}$ mesons leads to different inclusive spectra of $D$ and $D_s$ mesons produced in $π^{\pm}$ and $K^{\pm}$ beams.
In this work, we extended our statistical model with charmed and bottomed hadrons, and fit the quark creational probabilities for the heavy quarks, using low energy inclusive charmonium and bottomonium data. With the finalized fit for all the relevant types of quarks (up, down, strange, charm, bottom) at the energy range from a few GeV up to a few tens of GeV's, the model is now considered complete. Some examples are also given for proton-proton, pion-proton, and proton-antiproton collisions with charmonium, bottomonium, and open charm hadrons in the final state.
The mass, current coupling, and width of the doubly charmed four-quark meson $T_{cc}^{+}$ are explored by treating it as a hadronic molecule $ M_{cc}^{+}\equiv D^{0}D^{\ast +}$. The mass and current coupling of this molecule are calculated using the QCD two-point sum rule method by including into analysis contributions of various vacuum condensates up to dimension $ 10 $. The prediction for the mass $m=(4060\pm 130)~\mathrm{MeV}$ exceeds the two-meson $D^{0}D^{\ast +}$ threshold $3875.1~\mathrm{MeV}$, which makes decay of the molecule $M_{cc}^{+}$ to a pair of conventional mesons $ D^{0}D^{\as…
We review recent experimental results on B meson decays. These include measurements of the inclusive production of charmed and non-charmed mesons and baryons, the reconstruction of a large number of exclusive hadronic final states with charmed mesons, the search for exclusive hadronic final states without charmed mesons, and the first observation of the decay B-> K* gamma which is described by an electromagnetic penguin diagram. The theoretical implications of these results will be considered. The figures can be obtained in postscript format EMAIL from kh@ohstpy.mps.ohio-state.edu.
Recent data on the production of $D$ mesons and $Λ_c^+$ baryons in heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider exhibit a number of striking characteristics such as enhanced yield ratios $D_s^+/D^0$, $Λ_c^+/D^0$ and their transverse momentum dependences. In this paper, we derive the momentum dependence of open charm mesons and singly charmed baryons produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions via the equal-velocity quark combination. We present analytic expressions and numerical results of yield ratios and compare them with the experimental …
The two body Cabibbo favored hadronic decays of charmed baryons $Λ^{+}_{c}$, $Ξ^{+}_{c}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ into an octet or decuplet baryon and a pseudoscalar meson are examined in the SU(3) symmetry scheme. The numerical estimates for decay widths and branching ratios of some of the modes are obtained and are in good agreement with experiment.
We perform a systematical investigation of the possible deuteron-like bound states with configuration $Ξ_{cc}N (\bar{N})$, where $N(\bar{N})$ denotes the nucleon (anti-nucleon), in the framework of the one-boson-exchange-potential model. In the spin-triplet sector we take into account both the ${}^3S_1$ and ${}^3D_1$ channels due to non-vanishing tensor force. There exist several candidates of the loosely bound molecular states for the $Ξ_{cc}N$ and $Ξ_{cc}\bar{N}$ systems, which lie below the threshold of $Λ_cΛ_c$ or $Λ_c{\barΛ}_c$. We also investigate the possible loosely bound states with c…
The nonleptonic decays of $Ξ_c^0$ and $Λ_c^+$ that are dominated by $W$-exchange are studied. In particular, we anlayse the decay modes $Ξ_c^0 \rightarrow Ξ^{*-} π^+, Σ^{*+}K^-, Ω^-K^+$ and $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Σ^0π^+, Ξ^0 K^+$, $Ξ^0_c\rightarrow Σ^+K^-$.
The scattering cross sections of charm mesons with hadrons such as the pion, rho meson, and nucleon are studied in an effective Lagrangian. In heavy ion collisions, rescattering of produced charm mesons by hadrons affects the invariant mass spectra of both charm meson pairs and dileptons resulting from their decays. These effects are estimated for heavy ion collisions at SPS energies and are found to be significant.
We study hadronic molecules formed by a heavy meson and a nucleon, DN and D*N (BbarN and Bbar*N) systems. Respecting the heavy quark symmetry and chiral symmetry, we consider the DN-D*N (BbarN-Bbar*N$) mixing induced by the one boson exchange potential including the tensor force. We find many bound and resonant states with J^P=1/2^\pm, 3/2^\pm, 5/2^\pm and 7/2^- in isospin singlet channels, while only a few resonant states with J^P=1/2^- in isospin triplet channels. The analysis of DN and D*N (BbarN and Bbar*N) molecules will be useful to study mass spectra of excited charmed (bottom) baryons …
We study hadronic molecular states in a coupled system of $J/ψN - Λ_c\bar{D}^{(*)} - Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ in $I(J^P) = \frac{1}{2}(\frac{3}{2}^-)$ channel, using the complex scaling method combined with the Gaussian expansion method. We construct the potential including one pion exchange and one $D^{(*)}$ meson exchange with $S$-wave orbital angular momentum. We find that the both mass and width of the pentaquark $P_c(4380)$ can be reproduced within a reasonable parameter region, and that its main decay mode is $Λ_c\bar{D}^*$. We extend our analysis to a coupled system of $Λ_c D^{(*)} - Σ_c…

Flavor $SU(3)$ symmetry is a powerful tool to analyze charmed baryon decays. In this work, we propose an approach to generate $SU(3)$ sum rules for the singly and doubly charmed baryon decays without writing the Wigner-Eckhart invariants explicitly. The $SU(3)$ sum rules are computed routinely in several master formulas. Hundreds of $SU(3)$ sum rules are found to serve as test of the flavor symmetry in the charmed baryon decays.
Masses of singly and doubly charmed baryons are calculated in quenched lattice QCD using an improved action of the D234 type on an anisotropic lattice. The mass differences between spin 3/2 and spin 1/2 baryon states are calculated and compared to mass differences between vector and pseudoscalar mesons. The suppression of spin splittings in mesons containing heavy quarks, characteristic of quenched QCD simulations, is not observed in the baryon sector. The mass dependence of color hyperfine effects is discussed within the context of the quark model and heavy quark effective theory.
The three pentaquark states, $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, discovered by the LHCb Collaboration in 2019, can be arranged into a complete heavy quark spin symmetry multiplet of hadronic molecules of $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$. In the heavy quark mass limit, the $Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ baryons can be related to the doubly charmed tetraquark states of isospin 1, i.e., $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{(\ast)}$( $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{0}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{1}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{2}$), via heavy antiquark diquark symmetry, which dictates that the $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ interactions are…
The isotriplet Sigmac(2800) baryon with possible quantum numbers J(P) = 1/2(+), 1/2(-) or 3/2(+), 3/2(-) is considered as a hadronic molecule composed of a nucleon and a D meson. We determine the strong two-body decay widths Sigmac to Lambdac + pi which are shown to be consistent with current data for the J(P) = 1/2(+) and J(P) = 3/2(-) assignments.
The mass spectra of singly charmed and bottom baryons, $Λ_{c/b}(1/2^\pm,3/2^-)$ and $Ξ_{c/b}(1/2^\pm,3/2^-)$, are investigated using a nonrelativistic potential model with a heavy quark and a light diquark. The masses of the scalar and pseudoscalar diquarks are taken from a chiral effective theory. The effect of $U_A(1)$ anomaly induces an inverse hierarchy between the masses of strange and non-strange pseudoscalar diquarks, which leads to a similar inverse mass ordering in $ρ$-mode excitations of singly heavy baryons.

We calculated the contribution of the photon hadronic component in the charmed structure function of the leptoproduction. The contribution comes from scattering of the c quarks of the virtual photon on the quarks and gluons of the proton. Comparison of our calculations with the measurements of the charm production in $μ^+p$-scattering by EMC shows, that contribution of resolved photon can explain the excess of EMC data over the predictions of the photon-gluon fusion model at large momentum transfers. Thus, one does not need to use a non-perturbative admixture of the charmed quarks in the proto…
The production of baryons containing two charmed quarks Xi_cc in hadronic interactions at high energies and large transverse momenta is considered. It is supposed, that Xi_cc-baryon is formed during a non-perturbative fragmentation of the (cc)-diquark, which was produced in the hard process of $c$-quark scattering from the colliding protons: c+c -> (cc) +g. It is shown that such mechanism enhances the expected doubly charmed baryon production cross section on Tevatron and LHC colliders approximately 2 times in contrast to predictions, obtained in the model of gluon - gluon production of (cc)-d…
We determine the ground state and first excited state masses of singly and doubly charmed spin 1/2 and 3/2 baryons with positive and negative parity. Configurations with $N_f=2+1$ non-perturbatively improved Wilson-clover fermions were employed, with the same quark action also being used for the valence quarks, including the charm. The spectrum is calculated for pion masses in the range $M_π\sim 259-460$ MeV at a lattice spacing $a\sim 0.075$ fm. Finite volume effects are studied comparing lattices with two different linear spatial extents ($1.8\,{\rm fm}$ and $2.4\,{\rm fm}$). The physical po…
The analysis of singly charmed hadrons has been extended to the case of doubly charmed baryons, $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$. Doubly charmed baryons are described as a system containing a heavy $cc$-diquark and a light quark, similarly as in a heavy-light meson. This leads to preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and nonleptonic decays which are essentially proportional to the meson wave function. Interplay between preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and/or nonleptonic decay rates leads to very clear predictions for semileptonic branching ratios and lifetimes of doubly charme…
We study exclusive B decays to final states containing a charmed baryon within the pole model framework. Since the strong coupling for $Λ_b\bar B N$ is larger than that for $Σ_b \bar BN$, the two-body charmful decay $B^-\toΣ_c^0\bar p$ has a rate larger than $\bar B^0\toΛ_c^+\bar p$ as the former proceeds via the $Λ_b$ pole while the latter via the $Σ_b$ pole. By the same token, the three-body decay $\bar B^0\toΣ_c^{++}\bar pπ^-$ receives less baryon-pole contribution than $B^-\toΛ_c^+\bar pπ^-$. However, because the important charmed-meson pole diagrams contribute constructively to the former…
We give a systematic study of ${\bf B}_c\to {\bf B}_n V$ decays, where ${\bf B}_c$ and $ {\bf B}_n$ correspond to the anti-triplet charmed and octet baryons, respectively, while $V$ stand for the vector mesons. We calculate the color-symmetric contributions to the decays from the effective Hamiltonian with the factorization approach and extract the anti-symmetric ones based on the experimental measurements and $SU(3)_F$ flavor symmetry. We find that most of the existing experimental data for ${\bf B}_c\to {\bf B}_n V$ are consistent with our fitting results. We present all the branching ratios…
Two-body hadronic weak decays of the charmed baryon $Ω_c$, including Cabibbo-favored (CF), singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) modes, are studied systematically in this work. To estimate nonfactorizable contributions, we work in the pole model for the $P$-wave amplitudes and current algebra for the $S$-wave amplitudes. Among all the channels decaying into a baryon octet and a pseudoscalar meson, $Ω_c\to Ξ^0\overline{K}^0$ is the only allowed CF mode. The predicted branching fraction of order $3.8\%$ and large and positive decay asymmetry of order $0.50$ indicate…
This paper serves as an update of the previous work entitled ``Heavy-Flavor-Conserving Hadronic Weak Decays of Charmed and Bottom Baryons". We make an improvement on the bag wave functions by removing the center-of-mass motion of the bag. All the baryon matrix elements are now calculated under the same framework without introducing new parameters. The matrix elements of 4-quark operators are found to be nearly twice larger than the previous ones. The calculated branching fractions of $ Ξ_c ^0 \to Λ_c ^+π^-$ and $Ξ_b^- \to Λ^0_b π^-$ are both in agreement with current experimental results. For …
We study singly Cabibbo-suppressed two-body hadronic decays of the charmed baryon $Λ_c^+$, namely, $Λ_c^+\to ΛK^+, pπ^0, pη, nπ^+,Σ^0K^+,Σ^+ K^0$. We use the measured rate of $Λ_c^+\to pϕ$ to fix the effective Wilson coefficient $a_2$ for naive color-suppressed modes and the effective number of color $N_c^{\rm eff}$. We rely on the current-algebra approach to evaluate $W$-exchange and nonfactorizable internal $W$-emission amplitudes, that is, the commutator terms for the $S$-wave and the pole terms for the $P$-wave. Our prediction for $Λ_c^+\to pη$ is in excellent agreement with the BESIII mea…
Singly-Cabibbo-suppressed decays of charmed particles governed by the quark subprocesses $c \to s u \bar s$ and $c \to d u \bar d$ are analyzed using a flavor-topology approach, based on a previous analysis of the Cabibbo-favored decays governed by $c \to s u \bar d$. Decays to $PP$ and $PV$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson and $V$ is a vector meson, are considered. We include processes in which $η$ and $η'$ are produced.
Many efforts have been made to reveal the nature of the overabundant resonant structures observed by the worldwide experiments in the last two decades. Hadronic molecules attract special attention because many of these seemingly unconventional resonances are located close to the threshold of a pair of hadrons. To give an overall feature of the spectrum of hadronic molecules composed of a pair of heavy-antiheavy hadrons, namely, which pairs are possible to form molecular states, we take charmed hadrons for example to investigate the interaction between them and search for poles by solving the B…
