We compute the masses of the singly and doubly charmed baryons in full QCD using the relativistic Fermilab action for the charm quark. For the light quarks we use domain-wall fermions in the valence sector and improved Kogut-Susskind sea quarks. We use the low-lying charmonium spectrum to tune our heavy-quark action and as a guide to understanding the discretization errors associated with the heavy quark. Our results are in good agreement with experiment within our systematics. For the Ξ_{cc}, we find the isospin-averaged mass to be M_{Ξ_{cc}} = 3665 +/- 17 +/- 14 +0 -78 MeV; the three given uncertainties are statistical, systematic and an estimate of lattice discretization errors, respectively. In addition, we predict the mass splitting of the (isospin-averaged) spin-1/2 Ω_{cc} with the Ξ_{cc} to be M_{Ω_{cc}} - M_{Ξ_{cc}} = 98 +/- 9 +/- 22 +/- 13 MeV (in this mass splitting, the leading discretization errors are also suppressed by SU(3) symmetry). Combining this splitting with our determination of M_{Ξ_{cc}} leads to our prediction of the spin-1/2 Ω_{cc} mass, M_{Ω_{cc}} = 3763 +/- 19 +/- 26 +13 -79 MeV.
We report on the calculation of the CP-violating form factor $F_3$ and the corresponding electric dipole moment for charmed baryons in the spin-1/2 sector generated by the QCD $θ$-term. We work in the framework of covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory within the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme up to next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion.
We investigate the possible deuteron-like molecules composed of a pair of charmed spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ baryons, or one charmed baryon and one charmed antibaryon within the one-boson-exchange (OBE) model. For the spin singlet and triplet systems, we consider the couple channel effect between systems with different orbital angular momentum. Most of the systems have binding solutions. The couple channel effect plays a significant role in the formation of some loosely bound states. The possible molecular states of $Ω_c^*Ω_c^*$ and $Ω_c^*\barΩ_c^*$ might be stable once produced.
We systematically derive the analytical expressions of the magnetic moments of the spin-$1\over 2$ singly charmed baryons to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). We discuss the analytical relations between the magnetic moments. We estimate the-low energy constants (LECs) in two scenarios. In the first scenario, we use the quark model and Lattice QCD simulation results as input. In the second scenario, the heavy quark symmetry is adopted to reduce the number of the independent LECs, which are then fitted using the data from the Lattice QCD s…
We systematically investigate the possible molecular states composed of (1) two spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons, and (2) a pair of spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ and spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons. The one-boson-exchange (OBE) model is used to describe the potential between two baryons. The channel mixing effect is considered for the systems with the same quantum number $(I(J^P))$ but different total spin ($S$) and orbital angular momenta ($L$). We also study the channel mixing effect among the systems composed of various doubly charmed baryons if they have the same quantum number. Ma…
We present the energy spectra of the low lying doubly-charmed baryons using lattice quantum chromodynamics. We precisely predict the ground state mass of the charmed-strange Omega(cc) (1/2+) baryon to be 3712(11)(12) MeV which could well be the next doubly-charmed baryon to be discovered at the LHCb experiment at CERN. We also predict masses of other doubly-charmed strange baryons with quantum numbers 3/2+, 1/2-, and 3/2-.
In this work we study the possible QCD exotic states in the doubly charmed baryon sector. Within chiral effective theory, it is predicted that several excited baryons result from the $S$-wave scattering of ground-state doubly charmed baryons ($Ξ_{cc}^{++}, Ξ_{cc}^{+}, Ω_{cc}^{+}$) and light pseudoscalar mesons ($π, K, η$). The excited doubly charmed baryons can be classified by the strangeness ($S$) and isospin ($I$) quantum numbers. Two of the excited states are clearly exotic, in the sense that they cannot be explained by the conventional baryons with three quarks, since their quantum number…
Stimulated by the newly reported doubly-charmed tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ by LHCb, we carry out a systematic investigation of the $S$-wave interactions between the charmed meson ($D,\,D^{*}$) in $H$-doublet and the charmed meson ($D_{1},\,D_{2}^{*}$) in $T$-doublet by adopting the one-boson-exchange model. Both the $S$-$D$ wave mixing effect and the coupled channel effect are taken into account. By performing a quantitative calculation, we suggest that the $S$-wave $D^{*} D_{1}$ states with $I(J^{P})=0(0^{-},\,1^{-})$ and the $S$-wave $D^{*}D_{2}^{*}$ state with $I(J^{P})=0(1^{-})$ should be…
Recent experimental advances have reignited theoretical interests in heavy-flavor hadrons. In this work, we study the magnetic moments of the spin-1/2 singly charmed baryons up to the next-to-leading order in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory with the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. The pertinent low energy constants $g_{1-4}$ are fixed with the help of the quark model and the heavy quark spin flavor symmetry, while the remaining $d_2$, $d_3$, $d_5$ and $d_6$ are determined by fitting to the lattice QCD pion-mass dependent data. We study the magnetic moments as a funct…
We have systematically investigated the spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ to spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryon transition magnetic moments to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). Numerical results of transition magnetic moments and decay widths are presented to the next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*++}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{++}}=-2.35μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{+}}=1.55μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΩ_{cc}^{+}}=1.54μ_{N}$, $Γ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*++}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{++}}=22.0$ keV, $Γ_{Ξ_{cc}^{*+}\rightarrowΞ_{cc}^{+}}=9.57$ keV, $Γ_{Ω_{cc}^{…
We present the ground and excited state spectra of singly, doubly and triply-charmed baryons by using dynamical lattice QCD. A large set of baryonic operators that respect the symmetries of the lattice and are obtained after subduction from their continuum analogues are utilized. These operators transform as irreducible representations of SU(3)$_F$ symmetry for flavour, SU(4) symmetry for Dirac spins of quarks and O(3) symmetry for orbital angular momenta. Using novel computational techniques correlation functions of these operators are generated and the variational method is exploited to extr…
The isospin breaking effect plays an essential role in generating hadronic molecular states with a very tiny binding energy. Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration observed a very narrow doubly charmed tetraquark $T_{cc}^+$ in the $D^0D^0π$ mass spectrum, which lies just below the $D^0D^{*+}$ threshold around 273 keV. In this work, we study the $D^0D^{*+}/D^+D^{*0}$ interactions with the one-boson-exchange effective potentials and consider the isospin breaking effect carefully. We not only reproduce the mass of the newly observed $T_{cc}^+$ very well in the doubly charmed molecular tetraquark s…
Until now, the first reported doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$ is still a puzzle. It was discovered and confirmed by SELEX collaboration, but not confirmed by LHCb, BABAR, BELLE, FOCUS, or any other collaboration. In the present paper, by employing Regge phenomenology, we first express the mass of the ground state ($L$=0) doubly charmed baryon $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ as a function of masses of the well established light baryons and singly charmed baryons. Inserting the recent experimental data, the mass of $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ is given to be 3809$\pm$36 MeV, which is independent of any unobservable par…
We systematically study the $S$-wave doubly charmed baryons using the method of QCD sum rules. Our results suggest that the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ recently observed by LHCb can be well identified as the $S$-wave $Ξ_{cc}$ state of $J^P = 1/2^+$. We study its relevant $Ω_{cc}$ state, whose mass is predicted to be around 3.7 GeV. We also systematically study the $P$-wave doubly charmed baryons, whose masses are predicted to be around 4.1 GeV. Especially, there can be several excited doubly charmed baryons in this energy region, and we suggest to search for them in order to study the fine structure of the …
We present results for masses of spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 double-charm baryons in quenched lattice QCD, from an exploratory study using a non-perturbatively improved clover action at beta=6.2. We have studied local operators and we observe, after appropriate projections, a good signal for the ground states. We also present results for single-charmed baryons and spin-splittings for both double- and single-charmed states.
Hadron masses are calculated in quenched lattice QCD with a fermion action of the D234 type on an anisotropic lattice. Hyperfine splittings for singly charmed baryons are found to be in agreement with expectations from the quark model and with a magnitude slightly larger than experimental values. Masses of doubly charmed baryons are also calculated and compared to a variety of model calculations. Hyperfine splittings in doubly charmed baryons are found to be slightly smaller than in singly charmed states.
The chiral dynamics of the doubly heavy baryons is solely governed by the light quark. In this work, We have derived the chiral corrections to the mass of the doubly heavy baryons up to N$^3$LO. The mass splitting of $Ξ_{cc}$ and $Ω_{cc}$ at the N$^2$LO depends on one unknown low energy constant $c_7$. With the experimental mass of $Ξ_{cc}(3520)$ as the input, we estimate the mass of $Ω_{cc}$ to be around 3.678 GeV. Moreover, we have also performed a systematical analysis of the chiral corrections to the axial currents and axial charges of the doubly heavy baryons. The chiral structure and ana…
We calculate the magnetic moments of spin-$3\over 2$ singly charmed baryons in the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). The analytical expressions are given up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$. The heavy quark symmetry is used to reduce the number of low energy constants (LECs). With the lattice QCD simulation data as the magnetic moments of the charmed baryons, the numerical results are given up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ in three scenarios. In the first scenario, we use the results in the quark model as the leading order input. In the second scenario, we use the heavy quark symmetry and neglect…
We investigate the electromagnetic transitions of the singly charmed baryons with spin 3/2, based on a pion mean-field approach, also known as the chiral quark-soliton model, taking into account the rotational $1/N_c$ corrections and the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. We examine the valence- and sea-quark contributions to the electromagnetic transition form factors and find that the quadrupole form factors of the sea-quark contributions dominate over those of the valence-quark ones in the smaller $Q^2$ region, whereas the sea quarks only provide marginal contributions to the magnet…
We adopt the heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT) to calculate the scattering lengths of $ϕB_{cc}^{(*)}$ up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$, where $ϕ$ is the pseudoscalar mesons. The recoil effect and the mass splitting between the spin-$1\over 2$ and spin-$3\over 2$ doubly charmed baryons are included. In order to give the numerical results, we construct the chiral Lagrangians with heavy diquark-antiquark (HDA) symmetry in a formally covariant approach. Then, we relate the low energy constants (LECs) of the doubly charmed baryons to those of $D^{(*)}$ mesons. The LECs for the $ϕD^{(*)}$ sca…
The doubly charmed exotic state $T_{cc}$ recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration could well be a $DD^{*}$ molecular state long predicted in various theoretical models, in particular, the $DD^*$ isoscalar axial vector molecular state predicted in the one-boson-exchange model. In this work, we study the $DDD^*$ system in the Gaussian Expansion Method with the $DD^*$ interaction derived from the one-boson-exchange model and constrained by the precise binding energy of $273\pm63$ keV of $T_{cc}$ with respect to the $D^{*+}D^0$ threshold. We show the existence of a $DDD^*$ state with a bindin…
The discovery of $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ by the LHCb Collaboration triggers predictions of more doubly charmed baryons. By taking into account both the $P$-wave excitations between the two charm quarks and the scattering of light pseudoscalar mesons off the ground state doubly charmed baryons, a set of negative-parity spin-1/2 doubly charmed baryons are predicted already from a unitarized version of leading order chiral perturbation theory. Moreover, employing heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry the relevant low-energy constants in the next-to-leading order are connected with those describing light pseudos…
The chiral corrections to the magnetic moments of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons are systematically investigated up to next-to-next-to-leading order with heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HBChPT). The numerical results are calculated up to next-to-leading order: $μ_{Ξ^{++}_{cc}}=-0.25μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ξ^{+}_{cc}}=0.85μ_{N}$, $μ_{Ω^{+}_{cc}}=0.78μ_{N}$. We also calculate the magnetic moments of the other doubly heavy baryons, including the doubly bottomed baryons (bbq) and the doubly heavy baryons containing a light quark, a charm quark and a bottom quark ($\{bc\}q$ and $[bc]q$)…
We study the electromagnetic form factors of the doubly charmed baryons, using covariant chiral perturbation theory within the extended on-mass-shell (EOMS) scheme. Vector-meson contributions are also taken into account. We present results for the baryon magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii. While some of the chiral Lagrangian parameters could be set to values determined in previous works, the available lattice results for $Ξ_{cc}^+$ and $Ω_{cc}^+$ only allow for robust constraints on the low-energy constant (LEC) combination, $c_{89}(=-\frac{1}{3}c_8+4c_9)$. The couplings of the doubly…
We perform a systematic study on the interactions of the $Σ_c^{(*)}D^{(*)}$ systems within the framework of chiral effective field theory. We introduce the contact term, one-pion-exchange and two-pion-exchange contributions to describe the short-, long-, and intermediate-range interactions. The low energy constants of the $Σ_c^{(*)}D^{(*)}$ systems are estimated from the $N\bar{N}$ scattering data by introducing a quark level Lagrangian. With three solutions of LECs, all the $Σ_c^{(*)}D^{(*)}$ systems with isospin $I=1/2$ can form bound states, in which different inputs of LECs may lead to dis…
We present the ground and excited state spectra of doubly charmed baryons from lattice QCD with dynamical quark fields. Calculations are performed on anisotropic lattices of size 16^3 X 128, with inverse spacing in temporal direction 1/a_t = 5.67(4) GeV and with a pion mass of about 390 MeV. A large set of baryonic operators that respect the symmetries of the lattice yet which retain a memory of their continuum analogues are used. These operators transform as irreducible representations of SU(3) symmetry for flavor, SU(4) symmetry for Dirac spins of quarks and O(3) for spatial symmetry. The di…
The phenomenology of the so-called X, Y and Z hadronic resonances is hard to reconcile with standard charmonium or bottomonium interpretations. It has been suggested that some of these new hadrons can possibly be described as tightly bound tetraquark states and/or as loosely bound two-meson molecules. In the present paper we focus on the hypothetical existence of flavored, doubly charmed, tetraquarks. Such states might also carry double electric charge, and in this case, if discovered, they could univocally be interpreted in terms of compact tetraquarks. Flavored tetraquarks are also amenable …
We compute the electromagnetic properties of Ξ_cc baryons in 2+1 flavor Lattice QCD. By measuring the electric charge and magnetic form factors of Ξ_cc baryons, we extract the magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii as well as the Ξ_cc Ξ_cc ρcoupling constant, which provide important information to understand the size, shape and couplings of the doubly charmed baryons. We find that the two heavy charm quarks drive the charge radii and the magnetic moment of Ξ_cc to smaller values as compared to those of, e.g., the proton.
The LHCb Collaboration, using its full data set from runs $1$ and $2$, announced in $2019$ a surprising update of the hidden-charm pentaquark states $P_c(4380)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$, observed in 2015. A new state, $P_c(4312)^+$, was clearly seen at lower energies; furthermore, the original $P_c(4450)$ resonance was resolved into two individual states, named the $P_c(4440)^+$ and the $P_c(4457)^+$. Motivated by the fact that these new hidden-charm pentaquark states were successfully predicted by our chiral quark model, we extend herein such study to the doubly charmed sector. The analyzed total …
The mass, current coupling, and width of the doubly charmed four-quark meson $T_{cc}^{+}$ are explored by treating it as a hadronic molecule $ M_{cc}^{+}\equiv D^{0}D^{\ast +}$. The mass and current coupling of this molecule are calculated using the QCD two-point sum rule method by including into analysis contributions of various vacuum condensates up to dimension $ 10 $. The prediction for the mass $m=(4060\pm 130)~\mathrm{MeV}$ exceeds the two-meson $D^{0}D^{\ast +}$ threshold $3875.1~\mathrm{MeV}$, which makes decay of the molecule $M_{cc}^{+}$ to a pair of conventional mesons $ D^{0}D^{\as…

As a continuation of our recent work on the electromagnetic properties of the doubly charmed $Ξ_{cc}$ baryon, we compute the charge radii and the magnetic moments of the singly charmed $Σ_c$, $Ω_c$ and the doubly charmed $Ω_{cc}$ baryons in 2+1 flavor Lattice QCD. In general, the charmed baryons are found to be compact as compared to the proton. The charm quark acts to decrease the size of the baryons to smaller values. We discuss the mechanism behind the dependence of the charge radii on the light valence- and sea-quark masses. The magnetic moments are found to be almost stable with respect t…
The mass and coupling of the doubly charmed $J^P=0^{-}$ diquark-antidiquark states $T_{cc;\bar{s} \bar{s}}^{++}$ and $T_{cc;\bar{d} \bar{s}}^{++}$ that bear two units of the electric charge are calculated by means of QCD two-point sum rule method. Computations are carried out by taking into account vacuum condensates up to and including terms of tenth dimension. The dominant $S$-wave decays of these tetraquarks to a pair of conventional $ D_{s}^{+}D_{s0}^{\ast +}(2317)$ and $D^{+}D_{s0}^{\ast +}(2317)$ mesons are explored using QCD three-point sum rule approach, and their widths are found. The…
Inspired by the recent discovery of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ by the LHCb Collaboration, we study the magnetic moments of the spin-1/2 doubly charmed baryons up to the next-to-leading order in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory with the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. There are three low energy constants at this order, $a_1$, $a_2$ and $g_a$. The latest lattice QCD simulations allow us to fix a combination of $a_1$ and $a_2$, while the axial-vector coupling $g_a$ can be determined in three different ways, either by fitting to the lattice QCD data, or by the quark model, or by t…
Inspired by the discovery of the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ and the subsequent theoretical studies of its magnetic moments, we study the magnetic moments of its spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ heavy quark spin symmetry counterparts, up to the next-to-leading order in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory (BChPT) with the extended-on-mass-shell renormalization (EOMS) scheme. With the tree-level contributions fixed by the quark model while the two low energy constants (LECs) $C$ and $H$ controlling the loop contributions determined in two ways: the quark model (case 1) and l…
In this work, we investigate the mass corrections of the doubly charmed baryons up to $N^2LO$ in the extended-on-mass-shell (EOMS) renormalization scheme, comparing with the results of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. We find that the terms from the heavy baryon approach are a subset of those obtained in the EOMS scheme. By fitting the lattice data, we can determine the parameters $\tilde{m}$, $α$, $c_1$ and $c_7$ from the Lagrangian, while in the heavy baryon approach no information on $c_1$ can be obtained from the baryons mass. Correspondingly, the masses of $m_{Ξ_{cc}}$ and $m_{Ω_{…
We present the ground and excited state spectra of doubly and triply-charmed baryons by using lattice QCD with dynamical clover fermions. A large set of baryonic operators that respect the symmetries of the lattice and are obtained after subduction from their continuum analogues are utilized. Using novel computational techniques correlation functions of these operators are generated and the variational method is exploited to extract excited states. The lattice spectra that we obtain have baryonic states with well-defined total spins up to 7/2 and the low lying states remarkably resemble the ex…
In this work, we treat the newly observed doubly charmed four-quark state $ T_{cc}^{+}$ as an axial-vector tetraquark with content $cc\overline{u} \overline{d}$, and calculate its spectroscopic parameters and width. The mass and current coupling of the tetraquark $T_{cc}^{+}$ are found by means of the QCD two-point sum rule method by taking into account quark, gluon and mixed condensates up to dimension $10$. The width of the $T_{cc}^{+}$ is evaluated using partial widths of decay processes $T_{cc}^{+} \to \widetilde{ T}π^{0}$ and $T_{cc}^{+} \to T_{cc;\overline{u}\overline{u}}^{0}π^{+}$ , whe…
The doubly charmed $Ξ_{cc}^{++} (ccu)$ state is the only listed baryon in PDG, which was discovered in the experiment. The LHCb collaboration gets closer to discovering the second doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{+} (ccd)$, hence the investigation of the doubly charmed/bottom baryons from many aspects is of great importance that may help us not only get valuable knowledge on the nature of the newly discovered states, but also in the search for other members of the doubly heavy baryons predicted by the quark model. In this context, we investigate the strong coupling constants among the $Ξ_{cc}^{+…
Nowadays, it is generally accepted that the $DK$ interaction in isospin zero is strongly attractive and the $D_{s0}^*(2317)$ can be described as a $DK$ molecular state. Recent studies show that the three-body $DDK$ system binds as well with a binding energy about 60$\sim$70 MeV. The $DDK$ bound state has isospin $1/2$ and spin-parity $0^-$. If discovered either experimentally or in lattice QCD, it will not only provide further support on the molecular nature of the $D_{s0}^*(2317)$, but also provide a way to understand other exotic hadrons expected to be of molecular nature. In the present wor…
In recent years, several charmed baryons have been discovered, with more states likely to be found in the future. We investigate the spectra of singly and doubly charmed baryons on the lattice. The spin J=1/2 and J=3/2 states are calculated for both positive and negative parity.
Masses of singly and doubly charmed baryons are calculated in quenched lattice QCD using an improved action of the D234 type on an anisotropic lattice. The mass differences between spin 3/2 and spin 1/2 baryon states are calculated and compared to mass differences between vector and pseudoscalar mesons. The suppression of spin splittings in mesons containing heavy quarks, characteristic of quenched QCD simulations, is not observed in the baryon sector. The mass dependence of color hyperfine effects is discussed within the context of the quark model and heavy quark effective theory.
By extending the SU(3) flavour symmetry breaking expansion from up, down and strange sea quark masses to partially quenched valence quark masses we propose a method to determine charmed quark hadron masses including possible QCD isospin breaking effects. Initial results for some open charmed pseudoscalar meson states and singly and doubly charmed baryon states are encouraging and demonstrate the potential of the procedure. Essential for the method is the determination of the scale using singlet quantities, and to this end we also give here a preliminary estimation of the recently introduced Wi…
We study the spectra of charmonia, charmed mesons, singly and doubly charmed baryons using Lattice QCD, with 2+1 flavours of fermions. In the case of mesons, we include higher spin states, while for baryons, both positive and negative parity channels were investigated. By means of the variational method, we were able to extract a clean signal from the correlation functions and information about the excited states.
