In this paper, we construct and analyse the symmetries and conservation laws (conserved densities) of a model of a nonlinear Scrodinger equation with PT-symmetric potentials and inhomogeneity.
In this paper, we consider a general form of nonlinear Schrödinger equation with time-dependent nonlinearity. Based on the linear eigenvalue problem, the complete integrability of such nonlinear Schrödinger equation is identified by admitting an infinite number of conservation laws. Using the Darboux transformation method, we obtain some explicit bright multi-soliton solutions in a recursive manner. The propagation characteristic of solitons and their interactions under the periodic plane wave background are discussed. Finally, the modulational instability of solutions is analyzed in the prese…
The scattering problem for the Klein-Gordon equation with cubic convolution nonlinearity is considered. Based on the Strichartz estimates for the inhomogeneous Klein-Gordon equation we prove the existence of the scattering operator.
We consider the mass-critical focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation in the presence of an external potential, when the nonlinearity is inhomogeneous. We show that if the inhomogeneous factor in front of the nonlinearity is sufficiently flat at a critical point, then there exists a solution which blows up in finite time with the maximal (unstable) rate at this point. In the case where the critical point is a maximum, this solution has minimal mass among the blow-up solutions. As a corollary, we also obtain unstable blow-up solutions of the mass-critical Schrodinger equation on some surfaces. …
We report branches of explicit expressions for nonlinear modes in parity-time (PT) symmetric potentials of several types. For the single-well and double-well potentials the found solutions are two-parametric and appear to be stable even when the PT-symmetry of respective underlying linear models is broken. Based on the examples of these solutions we describe an algorithm of excitation of a stable nonlinear mode in a model, whose linear limit is unstable. The method is based on the adiabatic change of the control parameter driving the mode along a branch bifurcating from a stable linear mode. T…
Short-wave perturbations in a relaxing medium, governed by a special reduction of the Ostrovsky evolution equation, and later derived by Whitham, are studied using the gradient-holonomic integrability algorithm. The bi-Hamiltonicity and complete integrability of the corresponding dynamical system is stated and an infinite hierarchy of commuting to each other conservation laws of dispersive type are found. The well defined regularization of the model is constructed and its Lax type integrability is discussed. A generalized hydrodynamical Riemann type system is considered, infinite hierarchies o…
In this article, we construct novel explicit solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems with spatially inhomogeneous nonlinearity by means of the Lie symmetry method. We focus the attention to solutions with non-trivial phase, which have been scarcely considered in the related literature. To get started, the theoretical method based on Lie symmetries is exposed, thus reducing the problem to the integrability of an ODE. The non-trivial phase introduces a singular term into the ODE. Then, the method is used to construct new families of analytical solutions. Some illustrative examples are provid…
We define and study the Cauchy problem for a 1-D nonlinear Dirac equation with nonlinearities concentrated at one point. Global well-posedness is provided and conservation laws for mass and energy are shown. Several examples, including nonlinear Gesztesy-Šeba models and the concentrated versions of the Bragg Resonance, Gross-Neveu, and Soler type models, all within the scope of the present paper, are given. The key point of the proof consists in the reduction of the original equation to a nonlinear integral equation for an auxiliary, space-independent variable (the "charge").
We consider a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with concentrated nonlinearity. In both the focusing and defocusing case we prove local well-posedness, i.e., existence and uniqueness of the solution for short times, as well as energy and mass conservation. In addition, we prove that this implies global existence in the defocusing case, irrespective of the power of the nonlinearity, while in the focusing case blowing-up solutions may arise.
We present most general one-parametric solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations (YBE) for one spectral parameter dependent $R_{ij}(u)$-matrices of the six- and eight-vertex models, where the only constraint is the particle number conservation by mod(2). A complete classification of the solutions is performed. We have obtained also two spectral parameter dependent particular solutions $R_{ij}(u,v)$ of YBE. The application of the non-homogeneous solutions to construction of Zamolodchikov's tetrahedral algebra is discussed.
A universal KP-like equation in 2+1 dimensions, which models general nonlinear wave phenomena exhibiting p-power nonlinearity, dispersion, and small transversality, is studied. Special cases include the integrable KP (Kadomtsev-Petviashvili) equation and it is modified version, as well as their p-power generalizations. Two main results are obtained. First, all low-order conservation laws are derived, including ones that arise for special powers p. The conservation laws comprise momenta, energy, and Galilean-type quantities, as well as topological charges. Their physical meaning and properties …
The study of hyperbolic waves involves various notions which help characterise how these structures evolve. One important facet is the notion of \emph{genuine nonlinearity}, namely the ability for shocks and rarefactions to form instead of contact discontinuities. In the context of the Whitham Modulation equations, this paper demonstrate that a loss of genuine nonlinearity leads to the appearance of a dispersive set of dynamics in the form of the modified Korteweg de-Vries equation governing the evolution of the waves instead. Its form is universal in the sense that its coefficients can be wri…
We study a confined system of Dirac fermions in the presence of inhomogeneous magnetic field. Splitting the system into different regions, we determine their corresponding energy spectrum solutions. We underline their physical properties by considering the conservation energy where some interesting relations are obtained. These are used to discuss the reflexion and transmission coefficients for Dirac fermions and check the probability condition for different cases. We generalize the obtained results to a system with gap and make some analysis. After evaluating the current-carrying states, we a…
A system of high-order adaptive multiresolution wavelet collocation upwind schemes are developed for the solution of hyperbolic conservation laws. A couple of asymmetrical wavelet bases with interpolation property are built to realize the upwind property, and address the nonlinearity in the hyperbolic problems. An adaptive algorithm based on multiresolution analysis in wavelet theory is designed to capture moving shock waves and distinguish new localized steep regions. An integration average reconstruction method is proposed based on the Lebesgue differentiation theorem to suppress the Gibbs p…
We consider an interacting unbounded spin system, with conservation of the mean spin. We derive quantitative rates of convergence to the hydrodynamic limit provided the single-site potential is a bounded perturbation of a strictly convex function with polynomial growth, and with an additional random inhomogeneous linear term. This additional linear term models the impact of a random chemical potential. The argument adapts the two-scale approach of Grunewald, Otto, Villani and Westdickenberg from the quadratic to the general case. The main ingredient is the derivation of a covariance estimate t…
We discuss a general procedure to construct an integrable real-time trotterization of interacting lattice models. As an illustrative example we consider a spin-$1/2$ chain, with continuous time dynamics described by the isotropic ($XXX$) Heisenberg Hamiltonian. For periodic boundary conditions local conservation laws are derived from an inhomogeneous transfer matrix and a boost operator is constructed. In the continuous time limit these local charges reduce to the known integrals of motion of the Heisenberg chain. In a simple Kraus representation we also examine the nonequilibrium setting, whe…
Generalized hydrodynamics (GHD) was proposed recently as a formulation of hydrodynamics for integrable systems, taking into account infinitely-many conservation laws. In this note we further develop the theory in various directions. By extending GHD to all commuting flows of the integrable model, we provide a full description of how to take into account weakly varying force fields, temperature fields and other inhomogeneous external fields within GHD. We expect this can be used, for instance, to characterize the non-equilibrium dynamics of one-dimensional Bose gases in trap potentials. We furt…
In this paper, we investigate the global structure of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the scalar viscous conservation law where the far field states are prescribed. Especially, we deal with the case when the viscous/diffusive flux $σ(v) \sim |\, v \,|^p$ is of non-Newtonian type (i.e., $p>0$), including a pseudo-plastic case (i.e., $p<0$). When the corresponding Riemann problem for the hyperbolic part admits a Riemann solution which consists of single rarefaction wave, under a condition on nonlinearity of the viscosity, it has been recently proved by Matsumura-Yoshida \cite{matsumura-yoshi…
