We study the Callan-Gross ratio $R={\rm d}σ_L/{\rm d}σ_T$ in heavy-quark pair leptoproduction, $lN\rightarrow l^{\prime}Q\bar{Q}X$, as a probe of linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized proton, where ${\rm d}σ_T$ (${\rm d}σ_L$) is the differential cross section of the $γ^*N\rightarrow Q\bar{Q}X$ process initiated by a transverse (longitudinal) virtual photon. Note first that the maximal value for the quantity $R$ allowed by the photon-gluon fusion with unpolarized gluons is large, about 2. We calculate the contribution of the transverse-momentum dependent gluonic counterpart of the Boer-Mulders function, $h_{1}^{\perp g}$, describing the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized proton. Our analysis shows that the maximum value of the ratio $R$ depends strongly on the gluon polarization; it varies from 0 to $\frac{Q^2}{4m^2}$ depending on $h_{1}^{\perp g}$. We conclude that the Callan-Gross ratio in heavy-quark pair leptoproduction is predicted to be large and very sensitive to the contribution of linearly polarized gluons. For this reason, future measurements of the longitudinal and transverse components of the charm and bottom production cross sections at the proposed EIC and LHeC colliders seem to be very promising for determination of the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized proton.
By examining the symmetry constraints on the semi-inclusive pseudoscalar particle production in unpolarized inelastic lepton-hadron scattering, we present a complete, exact Lorentz decomposition for the corresponding hadronic tensor. As a result, we find that it contains five independent terms, instead of the four as have been suggested before. The newly identified one is odd under the naive time reversal transformation, and the corresponding structure function is directly related to the single spin asymmetry in the semi-inclusive pseudoscalar meson production by a polarized lepton beam off an…
We investigate the origin of the cos 2 phi azimuthal asymmetry in unpolarized semiinclusive DIS. The contributions to this asymmetry arising from the intrinsic transverse motion of quarks are explicitly evaluated, and predictions for the HERMES and COMPASS kinematic regimes are presented. We show that the effect of the leading-twist Boer-Mulders function h_1^perp(x, k_T^2), which describes a correlation between the transverse momentum and the transverse spin of quarks, is quite significant and may also account for a part of the cos 2 phi asymmetry measured by ZEUS in the perturbative domain.
We study the azimuthal $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ asymmetries in heavy-quark pair leptoproduction, $lN\rightarrow l^{\prime}Q\bar{Q}X$, as probes of linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized proton, where the azimuth $φ$ is the angle between the lepton scattering plane $(l,l^{\prime})$ and the heavy quark production plane $(N,Q)$. First, we determine the maximal values for the $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ asymmetries allowed by the photon-gluon fusion with unpolarized gluons; these predictions are large, $(\sqrt{3}-1)/2$ and $1/3$, respectively. Then we calculate the contribution of the transverse-mo…
In order to extract the behavior and magnitude of the spin-dependent gluon distribution, we propose a semi-inclusive $Λ_c^+$ production using unpolarized lepton beams and polarized proton targets. The correlation between the target proton spin and the spin of $Λ_c^+$ produced in the target fragmentation region might be very effective for testing various models of polarized gluons.
We study the Sivers asymmetry in inelastic $J/ψ$ leptoproduction, $ep^\uparrow \to e+ J/ψ+X$, within a transverse momentum dependent scheme, the so-called generalized parton model (GPM). The effects of final-state interactions are properly taken into account by employing the color-gauge invariant GPM (CGI-GPM). For the $J/ψ$ formation the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) framework is adopted. Predictions for unpolarized cross sections and maximized Sivers asymmetries at EIC energies are given.
In this paper, we study the azimuthal asymmetry in the $J/ψ$ leptoproduction in unpolarized $ep$ collisions. There are two independent azimuthal asymmetry modulations, namely $\mathrm{cos}(ψ)$ and $\mathrm{cos}(2ψ)$, where $ψ$ is the azimuthal angle of the lepton scattering plane with respect to the hadron-interacting plane. We calculate the two modulations as functions of four kinematic variables, and find that they provide a very good laboratory to distinguish several models describing the heavy quarkonium production, including the color-singlet (CS) model, the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) as…
We present the leading order unpolarized and polarized cross sections in electroweak semi-inclusive deep inelastic leptoproduction. The azimuthal dependences in the cross section differential in the transverse momentum of the vector boson arise due to intrinsic transverse momenta of the quarks. However, the presented asymmetries are not suppressed by inverse powers of the hard scale. We discuss the different opportunities to measure specific asymmetries as offered by neutral compared to charged current processes and point out the optimal kinematical regions. The present and (proposed) future H…
We analyze the longitudinal-transverse double-spin asymmetry in lepton-nucleon collisions where a single hadron is detected in the final state, i.e., $\vec{\ell}\,N^\uparrow \rightarrow h\,X$. This is a subleading-twist observable in collinear factorization, and we look at twist-3 effects in both the transversely polarized nucleon and the unpolarized outgoing hadron. Results are anticipated for this asymmetry from both HERMES and Jefferson Lab Hall A, and it could be measured as well at COMPASS and a future Electron-Ion Collider. We also perform a numerical study of the distribution term, whic…
Considering the possible interpretation of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule violation that the strange quark in the polarized proton is remarkably polarized in the opposite direction of the proton spin, we investigate its implication in the semi-inclusive $Λ$ production in deep inelastic process with the electron beam unpolarized and proton target polarized longitudinally. As a result, we find that the measurement of the $Λ$ polarization in the process considered can provide clean information about the strange quark spin distribution in the proton.
We present the QCD predictions for the azimuthal $\cos 2φ$ asymmetry in charm leptoproduction for the kinematics of the COMPASS experiment at CERN. The asymmetry is predicted to be large, about 15%. The radiative corrections to the QCD predictions for the $\cos 2φ$ distribution are estimated to be small, less than 10%. Our calculations show that the azimuthal asymmetry in charm production is well defined in pQCD: it is stable both perturbatively and parametrically, and practically insensitive to theoretical uncertainties in the input parameters. We analyze the nonperturbative contributions to …
We present the study of accessing unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMDs in J/ψ and Υ(1S) production in unpolarized proton-proton collision at LHC, RHIC and AFTER energies. Non- relativistic QCD based color octet model (COM) is used for estimating quarkonium production rates within transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. A comparison is drawn between the experimental data and the transverse momentum distribution of quarkonium obtained in COM and color evaporation model.
We show that linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized hadrons can be directly probed in jet or heavy quark pair production in electron-hadron collisions. We discuss the simplest cos (2 phi) asymmetries and estimate their maximal value, concluding that measurements of the unknown linearly polarized gluon distribution in the proton should be feasible in future EIC or LHeC experiments. Analogous asymmetries in hadron-hadron collisions suffer from factorization breaking contributions and would allow to quantify the importance of initial and final state interactions.
Gluons inside unpolarized hadrons can be linearly polarized provided they have a nonzero transverse momentum. The simplest and theoretically safest way to probe this distribution of linearly polarized gluons is through cos(2 phi) asymmetries in heavy quark pair or dijet production in electron-hadron collisions. Future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) or Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) experiments are ideally suited for this purpose. Here we estimate the maximum asymmetries for EIC kinematics.
In recent papers [1,2], two new ways have been proposed to probe the linear polarization of gluons in unpolarized proton: using the azimuthal asymmetries and Callan-Gross ratio in heavy-quark pair leptoproduction, $lN\rightarrow l^{\prime}Q\bar{Q}X$. In this talk, we discuss in details the sensitivity of the QCD predictions for the azimuthal $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ asymmetries to the contribution of linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized proton, where the azimuth $φ$ is the angle between the lepton scattering plane $(l,l^{\prime})$ and the heavy quark production plane $(N,Q)$. Our analysi…
We consider the azimuthal $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ distributions and the Callan-Gross ratio $R={\rm d}σ_L/{\rm d}σ_T$ in heavy-quark pair electroproduction, $lN\rightarrow l^{\prime}Q\bar{Q}X$, as probes of linearly polarized gluons in unpolarized nucleons. Our analysis shows that the azimuthal asymmetries and Callan-Gross ratio are predicted to be large and very sensitive to the contribution of the gluonic counterpart of the Boer-Mulders function, $h_{1}^{\perp g}$, describing the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized nucleon. In particular, the maximum values of the azimuthal distri…
Linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized hadrons affects the transverse momentum distribution of produced spin-0 particles, such as of the Higgs or (pseudo-)scalar quarkonium states at LHC. Despite the currently unknown amount of linear gluon polarization, a range of predictions can be obtained, using TMD evolution, which indicates that their effect is on the few percent level in Higgs production, but can be much larger in quarkonium production. Together with asymmetries in open charm or bottom production in electro-production at an Electron-Ion Collider, the size and sign of the linea…
We study the possibility to probe the unpolarized and linearly polarized transverse momentum- dependent gluon distributions in unpolarized pp collision in charmonium and bottomonium produc- tion, employing non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) based color octet model within transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization framework. The transverse momentum (p T ) and rapidity distributions of J/ψ and Υ(1S) at LHCb, RHIC and AFTER energies are estimated. Significant modulations in transverse momentum spectrum of quarkonium in the low p T region is obtained when contributions of linearly polarized gluon…
We study how gluons carrying linear polarization inside an unpolarized hadron contribute to the transverse momentum distribution of Higgs bosons produced in hadronic collisions. They modify the distribution produced by unpolarized gluons in a characteristic way that could be used to determine whether the Higgs boson is a scalar or a pseudoscalar particle.
We investigate the possible role of linearly polarized gluons in Higgs production from unpolarized pp collisions. The transverse momentum distribution of the produced Higgs boson is found to exhibit a modulation with respect to the naive, unpolarized expectation, with the sign depending on the parity of the Higgs boson. The transverse momentum distribution of a scalar Higgs will, therefore, have a shape clearly different from a pseudoscalar Higgs. We suggest that this effect can be used to determine the parity of the Higgs at the LHC, without the need to use challenging angular distributions.
We use the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework to study the production of forward heavy quark-antiquark pairs in unpolarized proton-nucleus or proton-proton collisions in the small-x regime. In the limit of nearly back-to-back jets, the CGC result simplifies into the transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) factorization approach. For massless quarks, the TMD factorization formula involves three unpolarized gluon TMDs: the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon distribution, the adjoint-dipole gluon distribution, and an additional one. When quark masses are kept non-zero, three new gluon TMDs appear -- each …
We present a recent calculation of the transverse momentum dependent gluon distributions inside unpolarised protons and show how the ratio of the linearly polarized and the unpolarized gluon distribution in the proton can be probed by looking at $Cos(2ϕ_h)$ asymmetry in $J/ψ$ production in unpolarized $ep$ collision. We use NRQCD for estimating $J/ψ$ production and include contributions both from color singlet and color octet states.
We calculate the Sivers and $\cos2ϕ$ azimuthal asymmetries in $J/ψ$ production in polarized and unpolarized semi-inclusive $ep$ collision respectively, using the formalism based on transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs). Non-relativistic QCD based color octet model is employed for calculating the $J/ψ$ production rate. The Sivers asymmetry in this process directly probes the gluon Sivers function. The estimated Sivers asymmetry at $z=1$ is negative which is in good agreement with COMPASS data. We also investigate the effect of TMD evolution on the Sivers asymmetry. The $\cos…
The measurement of azimuthal modulations in hadron leptoproduction on unpolarized nucleons allows to get information on the intrinsic transverse momentum $\langle k_T^2 \rangle$ of quarks in a nucleon through both the Cahn effect and the Boer-Mulders function. We have compared the azimuthal asymmetries in the cross section of $160\, \rm{GeV}/c$ muons scattered off an unpolarised deuteron target as measured by COMPASS with a Monte Carlo program, based on the ${}^3P_0$ model of quark anti-quark pair production at string breaking, which accounts for the Cahn effect. Large differences have been ob…
We present a recent calculation of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ production in unpolarized $pp$ collision and show that this can be used to probe the unpolarized gluon as well as the linearly polarized gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs). We use the color evaporation model for the heavy quarkonium production and use a generalized factorized form of the cross section. We compare the results with experimental data.
The inclusive hadronic production of $η_Q$($η_c$ or $η_b$) pair is proposed to extract the transverse momentum dependent(TMD) gluon distribution functions. We use nonrelativistic QCD(NRQCD) for the production of $η_Q$. Under nonrelativistic limit TMD factorization for this process is assumed to make a lowest order calculation. For unpolarized initial hadrons, unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon distributions can be extracted by studying different angular distributions.
We propose the study of unpolarized transverse momentum dependent gluon parton distributions as well as the effect of linearly polarized gluons on transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ production within the framework of transverse momentum dependent factorization employing color evaporation model (CEM) in unpolarized proton-proton collision. We estimate the transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ at LHCb, RHIC and AFTER energies using TMD evolution formalism.
Radiation emitted by unpolarized high-energy electrons penetrating crystals may be linearly polarized. This occurs when the particle velocity makes an angle, with respect to some major crystal axis, being sufficiently larger than the axial-channelling angle. For such orientation, a complete description of spectral and polarization characteristics of the radiation is derived. At planar channelling, a non-perturbative contribution to the probability of the process appears caused by the plane field, and we must solve exactly a one~-~dimensional mechanical problem. For that, the approximate form o…
Gluons inside an unpolarized proton are in general linearly polarized in the direction of their transverse momentum, rendering the LHC effectively a polarized gluon collider. This polarization can be utilized in the determination of the spin and parity of the newly found Higgs-like boson. We focus here on the determination of the spin using the azimuthal Collins-Soper angle $ϕ$ distribution.
We present the potential of $η_{b,c}$ production in proton collisions to access the gluon transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs). In particular, we explore the phenomenology of the unpolarized and linearly-polarized gluon TMDs in unpolarized collisions for different kinematic settings, and the potential of a fixed-target experiment at the LHC.
We present a calculation of the $cos (2 ϕ_h)$ asymmetry in $J/ψ$ production in electron-proton collision at the future electron-ion collider (EIC), a useful channel to probe the gluon TMDs. We calculate the asymmetry at next-to-leading order (NLO) in $α_s$ in the framework of generalized factorization. The dominating sub-process is $γ^* +g \rightarrow J/ψ+g$. The production of $J/ψ$ is calculated in the non-relativistic QCD(NRQCD) framework with the inclusion of both color singlet and color octet contributions. Numerical estimates of the $cos(2ϕ_h)$ asymmetry are given in the kinematical regio…
The unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMDs can be directly probed in heavy quark and jet pair production in unpolarized electron-proton collisions by looking at observables, like transverse momentum distributions and azimuthal asymmetries, depending on the momentum imbalance of the pair. Analytical expressions are presented for these observables and for analogous ones in Higgs plus jet and quarkonium plus photon production in unpolarized proton-proton scattering experiments. It is shown how the proposed measurements, to be performed at a future EIC and at the LHC, could provide importan…
The back-to-back $J/ψ$ and $π$ associated production at $e^+ e^-$ colliders is proposed to detect the gluon transverse momentum dependent(TMD) fragmentation functions. TMD factorization is assumed for this process. With spinless pion, unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMD fragmentation functions can be defined. It is found at parton level the hadronic tensor can be described by four structure functions. As a result, there are three independent angular distributions, of which a $\cos{2ϕ}$ azimuthal asymmetry is sensitive to the linearly polarized gluon fragmentation function.
The one-loop correction to heavy quark pair back-to-back production in unpolarized semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering is given in this work in the framework of transverse momentum dependent(TMD) factorization. Both unpolarized and linearly polarized TMD gluon distribution functions are taken into account. A subtraction method based on diagram expansion is used to get finite hard coefficients. It is found the soft and collinear divergences of one-loop amplitude is proportional to tree level ones and can be expressed through several basic scalar triangle and bubble integrals. The subtracti…
We calculate in this paper the perturbative gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDPDFs) and fragmentation functions (TMDFFs) using the exponential regulator for rapidity divergences. We obtain results for both unpolarized and linearly polarized distributions through next-to-next-to leading order in strong coupling constant, and through ${\cal O}(ε^2)$ in dimensional regulator (finding discrepancy for the linearly polarized gluon TMDPDFs with a previous result in the literature). We find a nontrivial momentum conservation sum rule for the linearly polarized compo…
We study azimuthal asymmetries in heavy quark pair production in unpolarized electron-proton and proton-proton collisions, where the asymmetries originate from the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized hadrons. We provide cross section expressions and study the maximal asymmetries allowed by positivity, for both charm and bottom quark pair production. The upper bounds on the asymmetries are shown to be very large depending on the transverse momentum of the heavy quarks, which is promising especially for their measurements at a possible future Electron-Ion Collider or a Large Hadron …
Linearly polarized gluons inside an unpolarized proton contribute to the transverse momentum distributions of (pseudo)scalar particles produced in hadronic collisions, such as Higgs bosons and quarkonia with even charge conjugation ($η_c$, $η_b$, $χ_{c0}$, $χ_{b0}$). Moreover, they can produce azimuthal asymmetries in the associated production of a photon and a $J/ψ$ or a $Υ$ particle, in a kinematic configuration in which they are almost back to back. These observables, which can be measured in the running experiments at the LHC, could lead to a first extraction of both the polarized and the …
We consider transverse momentum dependent gluon distributions inside both unpolarized and transversely polarized protons and show how they can be probed by looking at azimuthal modulations in $e \, p \to e \, J/ψ\, \mathrm{jet} \, X$. We find that the contribution due to quark induced subprocesses is always suppressed in the considered kinematic regions, accessible in principle at a future Electron-Ion Collider. Our model-independent estimates of the maximal values of these asymmetries allowed by positivity bounds suggest the feasibility of their measurement. In addition, by adopting the McLer…
Gluons inside an unpolarized proton are in general linearly polarized. This polarization can, in principle, be used to determine the spin and parity of the newly found Higgs-like boson at the LHC. We focus here on the calculation of the degree of polarization.
The imbalance of dijets produced in hadronic collisions has been used to extract the average transverse momentum of partons inside the hadrons. In this paper we discuss new contributions to the dijet imbalance that could complicate or even hamper this extraction. They are due to polarization of initial state partons inside unpolarized hadrons that can arise in the presence of nonzero parton transverse momentum. Transversely polarized quarks and linearly polarized gluons produce specific azimuthal dependences of the two jets that in principle are not suppressed. Their effects cannot be isolated…
Generalized parton distributions describe the correlations between the longitudinal momentum and the transverse position of quarks and gluons in a nucleon. They can be constrained by measuring photon leptoproduction observables, arising from the interference between Bethe-Heitler and Deeply virtual Compton scattering processes. At leading-twist/leading-order, the amplitude of the latter is parameterized by complex integrals of the GPDs {H, E, H, E} . As data collected on an unpolarized or longitudinally polarized target constrains H and H, E is poorly known as it requires data collected with a…
We combine soft and collinear matrix elements to define transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) for gluons, free from rapidity divergences. We establish a factorization theorem at next-to-leading order for the Higgs boson transverse momentum ($q_T$) spectrum, and use it to derive evolution equations for gluon TMDs. The evolution for all gluon TMDs is driven by a universal kernel, i.e. the same for all polarizations. In the region of intermediate $q_T$ we match the unpolarized, helicity and linearly polarized gluon distributions onto PDFs. We calculate the resummed Higgs trans…

It has been recently shown that a chiral molecule accelerates linearly along a spatially uniform magnetic field, as a result of the parity-time symmetry breaking induced in its QED self-interaction. In this work we extend this result to fundamental particles which present EW self-interaction, in which case parity is violated by the EW interaction itself. In particular, we demonstrate that, in a spatially uniform and adiabatically time-varying magnetic field, an unpolarized proton coupled to the leptonic vacuum acquires a kinetic momentum antiparallel to the magnetic field, whereas virtual lept…
Asymmetries in heavy quark pair and dijet production in electron-proton collisions allow studies of gluon TMDs in close analogy to studies of quark TMDs in semi-inclusive DIS. Here we present expressions for azimuthal asymmetries for both unpolarized and transversely polarized proton cases and consider the maximal asymmetries allowed. The latter are found to be rather sizeable, except in certain kinematic limits which are pointed out. In addition, we consider the small-x limit and expectations from a McLerran-Venugopalan model for unpolarized and linearly polarized gluons and from a perturbati…
A high-energy Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) would offer a most promising tool to study in detail the transverse momentum distributions of gluons inside hadrons. This applies to unpolarized as well as linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized protons, and to left-right asymmetric distributions of gluons inside transversely polarized protons, the so-called gluon Sivers effect. The inherent process dependence of these distributions can be studied by comparing to similar, but often complementary observables at LHC.
General expressions for the unpolarized differential cross section and for various polarization observables in the coherent pseudoscalar meson photo- and electroproduction on the deuteron target have been obtained in one-photon-exchange approximation. The spin structure of the matrix element is explicitly derived in terms of structure functions. The correspondence with the helicity amplitudes is given. The polarization effects have been investigated for the case of a longitudinally polarized electron beam and vector or tensor polarized deuteron target. The polarization (vector or tensor) of th…
We present a detailed study of vector meson photoproduction in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions (UPCs). Using the dipole model, we develop a framework for the joint impact parameter and transverse momentum dependent cross sections. We compute the unpolarized cross section and $\cos 2ϕ$ azimuthal angular correlation for $ρ^0$ photoproduction with $ϕ$ defined as the angle between the $ρ^0$'s transverse momentum and its decay product pion meson's transverse momentum. Our result on unpolarized coherent differential cross section gives excellent description to the STAR experimental data. A firs…
Quarkonium production offers good possibilities to study gluon TMDs. In this proceedings contribution this topic is explored for the linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized hadrons and unpolarized gluons inside transversely polarized hadrons. It is argued that $χ_{b0/2}$ and $η_b$ production at LHC are best to study the effects of linearly polarized gluons in hadronic collisions, by means of angular independent ratios of ratios of cross sections. This can be directly compared to $\cos 2ϕ$ asymmetries in heavy quark pair and dijet production in DIS at a future high-energy Electron-Ion Coll…
Recently it has been put forward that linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized protons affect the transverse momentum distribution of final state particles in hadronic collisions. They lead to a characteristic modulation of the differential cross section in Higgs production and to azimuthal asymmetries in, for instance, heavy quark pair production. Here we study the effect on charmonium and bottomonium production in hadronic collisions, such as at LHCb and at the proposed fixed target experiment AFTER at LHC. We focus mainly on the scalar and pseudoscalar quarkonia, eta_c, chi_{c0}, eta_b,…
We investigate the gluon Wigner distributions for unpolarized, longitudinally polarized and transversely polarized target state. Instead of a nucleon, we take the target state to be a quark dressed with a gluon at one loop and investigate the gluon Wigner distributions at leading twist. Better numerical convergence is obtained compared to an earlier study, that removes the regulator dependence of the results. We present a first calculation of the Wigner distribution for the transversely polarized target and linearly polarized gluon. We study the spin densities in momentum and impact parameter …
We show that the production of a Higgs boson in association with a jet in proton-proton collisions is sensitive to the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized protons. We present the analytical expressions, at leading order in perturbative QCD, for various transverse momentum dependent observables, which can be measured at the LHC. Since there are no experimental constraints on the linearly polarized gluon distribution, its effects are studied by adopting two different models. In particular, we find that the $\cos2ϕ$ azimuthal asymmetry is a very promising observable because it could …
In the fragmentation of a transversely polarized quark several left-right asymmetries are possible for the hadrons in the jet. When only one unpolarized hadron is selected, it exhibits an azimuthal modulation known as Collins effect. When a pair of oppositely charged hadrons is observed, three asymmetries can be considered, a di-hadron asymmetry and two single hadron asymmetries. In lepton deep inelastic scattering on transversely polarized nucleons all these asymmetries are coupled with the transversity distribution. From the high statistics COMPASS data on oppositely charged hadron-pair prod…
Quark-antiquark pair (or dijet) production at the electron-ion collider (EIC) has been argued to be one of most important processes that allowing to access the Weizsäcker-Williams (WW) gluon distributions at small $x$ limit. Within the framework of Color Glass Condensate (CGC) effective field theory (EFT), we calculated the dijet cross sections and the azimuthal correlations by including the Sudakov resummations, numerical results shown that the back-to-back correlations are significantly suppressed when the Sudakov resummations are taken into account. In addition, by using the solutions of ru…
The polarization of bremsstrahlung photon in the processes $ee^\pm\to (eγ)e^\pm$, and $ep\to (eγ)p$ is calculated for peripheral kinematics, in the high energy limit where the cross section does not decrease with the incident energy. When the initial electron is unpolarized(longitudinally polarized) the final photon can be linearly (circularly) polarized. The Stokes parameters of the photon polarization are calculated as a function of the kinematical variables of process: the energy of recoil particle, the energy fraction of scattered electron, and the polar and azimuthal angles of photon. Num…
We study the azimuthal asymmetries for quark pair production in proton-nucleus collisions using a hybrid approach in which the nucleus is treated in the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework while the Lipatov approximation is applied on the proton side. Our treatment goes beyond the large N_c limit. We particularly focus on the so-called correlation limit where the imbalance of the transverse momentum of the quark pair is much smaller than the out-going individual quark transverse momenta. In this kinematic region, a matching between the hybrid approach and a factorization in terms of transve…
