In heavy quarkonia, hadronic transitions serve as an enlightened probe for the structure and help to establish the understanding of light quark coupling with a heavy degree of freedom. Moreover, in recent years, hadronic transitions revealed remarkable discoveries to identify the new conventional heavy quarkonia and extracting useful information about the so called "XYZ" exotic states. In this contribution, we present our predictions for heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) breaking hadronic transitions of higher $S$ and $D$ wave vector charmonia based on our recently proposed model (inspired by Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model) to create light meson(s) in heavy quarkonium transitions. We also suggest spectroscopic quantum numbers $(^{2S+1}L_J)$ for several observed charmoniumlike states. Our analysis indicates that the $Y(4360)$ is most likely to be a $3D$ dominant state.
We investigate the in-medium masses of open charm mesons ($D$($D^0$, $D^+$), $\bar{D}$($\bar{D^0}$, $D^-$), $D_s$(${D_{s}}^+$, ${D_{s}}^-$)) and charmonium states ($J/ψ$, $ψ(3686)$, $ψ(3770)$, $χ_{c0}$, $χ_{c2}$) in strongly magnetized isospin asymmetric strange hadronic matter using a chiral effective model. In the presence of the magnetic field, the number density and scalar density of charged baryons have contributions from Landau energy levels. The mass modifications of open charm mesons arise due to their interactions with nucleons, hyperons, and the scalar fields (the non-strange field $…
The phenomenology of leptonic decays of quarkonia holds many interesting features: for instance, it can establish constraints on scenarios beyond the Standard Model with the Higgs sector enriched by a light CP-odd state. In the following paper, we report on a two-flavor lattice QCD study of the $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ decay constants, $f_{η_c}$ and $f_{Jψ}$. We also examine some properties of the first radial excitation $η_c(2S)$ and $ψ(2S)$.
Momenta of charmonia created in Pb-Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider are so large that three or more mesons may be produced when the charmonia collide with light mesons in hadronic matter. We study the meson-charmonium collision in a mechanism where the collision produces two quarks and two antiquarks, the charm quark then fragmenting into charmed mesons, and the other three constituents as well as quarks and antiquarks created from vacuum give rise to two or more mesons. The absolute square of the transition amplitude for the production of two quarks and two antiquarks is derived fro…
We propose a new model to create a light meson in the heavy quarkonium transition, which is inspired by the Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. Hadronic transitions of $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ higher charmonia with the emission of an $η$ meson are studied in the framework of the proposed model. The model shows its potential to reproduce the observed decay widths and make predictions for the unobserved channels. We present our predictions for the decay width of $Ψ\to J/ψη$ and $Ψ\to h_{c}(1P)η$, where $Ψ$ are higher $S$ and $D$ wave vector charmonia, which provide useful references to search for higher ch…
We show that the newly measured branching ratios of vector charmonia ($J/ψ$, $ψ^\prime$ and $ψ(3770))$ into $γP$, where $P$ stands for light pseudoscalar mesons $π^0$, $η$, and $η^\prime$, can be well understood in the framework of vector meson dominance (VMD) in association with the $η_c$-$η(η^\prime)$ mixings due to the axial gluonic anomaly. These two mechanisms behave differently in $J/ψ$ and $ψ^\prime\to γP$. A coherent understanding of the branching ratio patterns observed in $J/ψ(ψ^\prime)\to γP$ can be achieved by self-consistently including those transition mechanisms at hadronic leve…
We investigate the production of psi(2S) in nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. We first address charmonium production in 200 GeV d-Au collisions at RHIC; the strong suppression of psi' mesons observed in these reactions indicates mechanisms beyond initial cold nuclear matter effects. We find that a more complete treatment of hadronic dissociation reactions leads to appreciable psi' suppression in the hadronic medium of an expanding fireball background for d-Au collisions. When implementing the updated hadronic reaction rates into a fireball for 2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions at LHC, the r…
The masses of charmonium s and p-states, pseudoscalar and vector decay constants, leptonic, hadronic as well as radiative decay widths for charmonia have been computed in the framework of extended harmonic confinement model without any additional parameters. The outcome in comparison with other contemporary theoretical and experimental results is presented.
We investigate mass shifts of charmonia driven by change of the gluon condensate below but near transition temperatures at finite baryonic chemical potential. Extending previous prescription on the relation between gluon condensates and thermodynamic quantities, we model the gluon condensates of hadronic matter at finite temperature and baryonic chemical potential such that the scalar gluon condensate fits with the latest lattice QCD data. By making use of the QCD sum rule and the second order Stark effect, we find that the smoother transition in the full QCD can lead to moderate mass shifts o…
In this work, we investigate the open-charm decay process $ψ\toΛ_c\barΛ_c$ via the hadronic loop mechanism for vector charmonia above $Λ_c\barΛ_c$ threshold. The branching ratios of these vector charmonium states to $Λ_c\barΛ_c$ are estimated. The charmonium explanation of the $Y(4630)$ observed in $e^+e^- \to Λ_c\barΛ_c$ is tested. Furthermore, for the predicted higher vector charmonia above 4.7 GeV, the branching ratios $\mathcal{B}[ψ(nS)\toΛ_c\barΛ_c]$ with $n=7,8,9$ are found to be of the order of magnitude of $10^{-4}-10^{-3}$ while $\mathcal{B}[ψ(mD)\toΛ_c\barΛ_c]$ with $m=6,7,8$ are of …
We study the phenomenology of the ground-state (pseudo-)scalar charmonia $η_c$ and $χ_{c0}$ in the framework of a $U(4)_r \times U(4)_l$ symmetric linear sigma model with (pseudo-)scalar and (axial-) vector mesons. Based on previous results for the spectrum of charmonia and the spectrum and (OZI-dominant) strong decays of open charmed mesons, we extend the study of this model to OZI-suppressed charmonia decays. This includes decays into 'ordinary' mesons but also particularly interesting channels with scalar-isoscalar resonances $f_0(1370),\, f_0(1500),\, f_0(1710)$ that may include sizeable c…
Since their advent, Parity Violating experiments have played a crucial role in testing the standard model (SM) of electroweak interactions. In recent years, these experiments have reached such a high degree of accuracy that they might test for physics beyond the SM. When making high precision measurements, a recurrent problem is how to properly include hadronic corrections. In this study we consider possible hadronic effects that appear in such experiments. These hadronic effects include, but are not limited to, sea quarks, perturbative QCD, target mass and higher twist corrections.
Transport and Langevin equations are employed to study hadronic medium effects on charmonium elliptic flows in heavy-ion collisions. In Pb-Pb collisions, the anisotropic energy density of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in the transverse plane is transformed into hadron momentum anisotropy after the phase transition. Charmonia with high transverse momentum $p_T$ are produced via the primordial hard process and undergo different degrees of dissociation along different paths in the QGP. They then scatter with light hadrons in the hadron phase. Both contributions to the charmonium elliptic flows are…
We analyze the one loop corrections to hadronic Z decays in an R-parity violating extension to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Performing a global fit to all the hadronic observables at the Z-peak, we obtain stringent constraints on the R-violating couplings constants lambda' and lambda''. As a result of the strong constraints from the b asymmetry parameters A_b and A_FB(b), we find that the couplings lambda'{i31}, lambda'{i32}, and lambda''{321} are ruled out at the 1 sigma level, and that lambda'{i33} and lambda''{33i} are ruled out at the 2 sigma level. We also obtain Baye…
An effective field theory program to analyze and interpret hadronic parity violation in two-, three-, and few-nucleon systems is described. Observables can be parameterized in terms of five low-energy constants, which have to be determined from experimental input. Results for parity-violating observables in the two- and three-nucleon sectors are presented, including a discussion of the relevance of parity-violating three-nucleon interactions.
We demonstrate that electron electric dipole moment experiments with molecules in paramagnetic state are sensitive to $P,T$-violating nuclear forces and other $CP$-violating parameters in the hadronic sector. These experiments, in particular, measure the coupling constant $C_{SP}$ of the $CP$-odd contact semileptonic interaction. We establish relations between $C_{SP}$ and different $CP$-violating hadronic parameters including strength constants of the $CP$-odd nuclear potentials, $CP$-odd pion-nucleon interactions, quark-chromo EDM and QCD vacuum angle. These relations allow us to find limits…
CP violating interactions are required to realize the matter abundance of our Universe. It is however known that the standard model of particle physics does not contain sufficient CP violation. The electric dipole moment (EDM) of atomic systems is a very sensitive experimental probe of CP violation beyond the standard model, and it is very actively studied in experiments. The atomic EDM has a significant sensitivity to hadronic CP violation, but its quantification has for long been obstructed by the nonperturbative physics of quantum chromodynamics. Quite recently, the contribution of the Wein…
We motivate lattice QCD studies of the parity-violating pion-nucleon coupling constant and extend flavor-conserving hadronic parity-violation from QCD to partially-quenched QCD. The parity-violating pion-nucleon coupling and the anapole form factor (and moment) of the proton are computed to one-loop order in the partially-quenched chiral expansion. For the parity-violating pion-nucleon interaction, we include the contributions from total derivative operators necessary to match the kinematics that will be used in lattice simulations.
The decay widths of the charmonium states to $D\bar D$ in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter in the presence of a magnetic field are studied, using a field theoretical model for composite hadrons with quark/antiquark constituents. The medium modifications of these partial decay widths arise due to the changes in the masses of the decaying charmonium state and the produced $D$ and $\bar D$ mesons in the magnetized hadronic matter, calculated within a chiral effective model. The decay widths are computed using the light quark--antiquark pair creation term of the free Dirac Hamiltonian in terms of…
The flavor changing and CP violating phenomena predicted in supersymmetric unified theories as a consequence of the large top quark Yukawa coupling, are investigated in the quark sector and compared with related phenomena in the lepton sector, considered previously. In particular we study $\varepsilon_K$, $\varepsilon_K'/\varepsilon_K$, $Δm_B$, $b\to sγ$, the neutron electric dipole moment, $d_n$, and CP violation in neutral $B$ meson decays, both in minimal~SU(5) and~SO(10) theories. The leptonic signals are generically shown to provide more significant tests of quark-lepton unification. Neve…
In recent years, many heavy mesons and charmonia were observed which do not fit in the conventional quark model expectations. Some of them are proposed to be hadronic molecules. Here we investigate the consequences of heavy quark spin symmetry on these heavy meson hadronic molecules. Heavy quark spin symmetry enables us to predict new heavy meson molecules and provides us with a method to test heavy meson molecule assumptions of some newly observed states. In particular, we predict an η_c'f_0(980) bound state as the spin-doublet partner of the Y(4660) proposed as a ψ'f_0(980) bound state with …
Parity-violating elastic electron-nucleon scattering at low momentum transfer allows one to access the nucleon's weak charge, the vector coupling of the $Z$-boson to the nucleon. In the Standard Model and at tree level, the weak charge of the proton is related to the weak mixing angle and accidentally suppressed, $Q_W^{p,\,{\rm tree}}=1-4\sin^2θ_W\approx0.07$. Modern experiments aim at extracting $Q_W^p$ at $\sim1\%$ accuracy. Similarly, parity non-conservation in atoms allows to access the weak charge of atomic nuclei. We consider a novel class of radiative corrections, an exchange of two pho…
Experiments with paramagnetic ground or metastable excited states of molecules (ThO, HfF$^+$, YbF, YbOH, BaF, PbO, etc.) provide strong constraints on electron electric dipole moment (EDM) and coupling constant $C_{SP}$ of contact semileptonic interaction. We compute new contributions to $C_{SP}$ arising from the nucleon EDMs due to combined electric and magnetic electron-nucleon interaction. This allows us to improve limits from the experiments with paramagnetic molecules on the $CP$-violating parameters, such as the proton EDM, $|d_p|< 1.1\times 10^{-23} e\cdot $cm, the QCD vacuum angle, $|\…
Meson-charmonium dissociation reactions governed by the quark interchange are studied with temperature-dependent quark potentials. Quark-antiquark relative-motion wave functions and masses of charmonia and charmed mesons are determined by the central spin-independent part of the potentials or by the central spin-independent part and a smeared spin-spin interaction. The prominent temperature dependence of the masses is found. Based on the potentials, the wave functions, and the meson masses, we obtain temperature-dependent cross sections for fifteen pion-charmonium and rho-charmonium dissociati…
We investigate the possible measurement of parity-violating spin asymmetries in jet pair production in proton-proton collisions at the Brookhaven Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), with the goal to constrain longitudinally polarized quark and antiquark distribution functions. A measurable asymmetry could be observed in the vicinity of the massive weak W boson resonance, where the parity-violating signal appears above the parity-conserving background and is enhanced by interference of the strong and electroweak production amplitudes. We discuss the potential for such measurements, perhaps …
The flavor-conserving non-leptonic weak interaction can be studied experimentally through the observation of parity violation in nuclear and few-body systems. At hadronic scales, matrix elements of parity-violating four-quark operators ultimately give rise to the parity violating couplings between hadrons, and such matrix elements can be calculated non-perturbatively using lattice QCD. In this work, we investigate the running of isovector parity-violating operators from the weak scale down to hadronic scales using the renormalization group. We work at next-to-leading order in the QCD coupling,…
We construct hadronic amplitudes for the three-body decays $η^{(\prime)}\toπ^+π^-π^0$ and $η'\toηπ^+π^-$ in a non-perturbative fashion, allowing for $C$- and $CP$-violating asymmetries in the $π^+π^-$ distributions. These amplitudes are consistent with the constraints of analyticity and unitarity. We find that the currently most accurate Dalitz-plot distributions taken by the KLOE-2 and BESIII collaborations confine the patterns of these asymmetries to a relative per mille level. Our dispersive representation allows us to extract the individual coupling strengths of the $C$- and $CP$-violating…
We study the evolution of charmonia as they collide with the constituents of the fireball produced in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. The latter evolves in a manner controlled by the equation of state as given by lattice QCD, and is constructed in such a way that the observed hadronic spectra are correctly reproduced. A kinetic description of charmonium interactions with both quark-gluon and hadronic degrees of freedom allows to study in detail the evolution in different regimes, controlled by collision energy, kinematics and geometry. The data collected at the CERN-SPS accelerator are…
We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, neutron and deuteron within a generic R-parity violating SUSY model (RPV SUSY) on the basis of a one-pion exchange model with CP-odd pion-nucleon interactions. We consider two types of the RPV SUSY contributions to the above hadronic EDMs: via the quark chromoelectric dipole moments (CEDM) and CP-violating 4-quark interactions. We demonstrate that the former contributes to all the three studied EDMs while the latter appears only in the nuclear EDMs via the CP-odd nuclear forces. We find that the RPV SUSY induced 4-quar…
The possibility of measuring the parity-violating asymmetry in M\oller scattering with sufficient accuracy to determine sin^2 theta_W to 0.1% offers a complementary path to the discovery of new physics to that followed at high energy colliders. We present a new calculation of the gamma-Z box contribution to parity-violating electron-proton scattering, which constitutes an important uncertainty in computing the background to this process. We show that while the gamma-Z correction grows rapidly with energy, it can be relatively well constrained by data from parity-violating inelastic scattering …
We discuss some key issues associated with duality-violating and non-perturbative OPE contributions to the theoretical representations of light quark current-current two-point functions and relevant to precision determinations of alpha_s from hadronic tau decay and electroproduction cross-section data. We demonstrate that analyses with an explicit representation of duality-violating effects are required to bring theoretical errors in such extractions under control, motivating the accompanying paper in these proceedings, which presents the results of such an analysis.
Combining the recently reported electric dipole moment (EDM) of $^{199}$Hg atom due to breaking of parity and time-reversal symmetries with the improved relativistic atomic calculations, precise limits on the tensor-pseudotensor (T-PT) electron-nucleus (e-N) coupling coefficient and the nuclear Schiff moment (NSM) interactions are determined. Using these limits with the nuclear calculations, we infer limits on the EDMs of neutron and proton as $d_n < 2.2 \times 10^{-26} |e| \rm{cm}$ and $d_p < 2.1 \times 10^{-25} |e| \rm{cm}$, respectively, and on the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) parameter and…
We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, deuteron, nucleons and neutral hyperons Lambda, Sigma(0) and Xi(0) in the framework of a generic SUSY model without R-parity conservation (RPV SUSY) on the basis of the SU(3) version of chiral perturbation theory (ChPT). We consider CP-violation in the hadronic sector induced by the chromoelectric quark dipole moments and CP-violating 4-quark effective interactions. From the null experimental results on the neutron and Hg(199) atom EDMs we derive limits on the imaginary parts of certain products Im(lambda' lambda'*) of…
We study constraints on the CP violating phase $γ$ in the Kobayashi-Maskawa model using available experimental data. We first follow the conventional method to up date the constraint on $γ$ by performing a $χ^2$ analysis using data from $|ε_K|$, $Δm_{B_{d,s}}$ and $|V_{ub}/V_{cb}|$. We also include the recent information on $\sin2β$ in the analysis. We obtain the best fit for $γ$ to be $66^\circ$ and the 95% C.L. allowed range to be $42^\circ \sim 87^\circ$. We then develop a method to carry out a $χ^2$ analysis based on SU(3) symmetry using data from $B\to ππ$ and $B\to K π$. We also discuss …
We compute contributions to the parity-violating (PV) inelastic electron-deuteron scattering asymmetry arising from hadronic PV. While hadronic PV effects can be relatively important in PV threshold electro- disintegration, we find that they are highly suppressed at quasielastic kinematics. The interpretation of the PV quasielastic asymmetry is, thus, largely unaffected by hadronic PV.
Relativistic many-body methods at different levels of approximations are employed to gain insights into the passage of the electron correlations from lower to higher levels in the accurate determination of the electric dipole polarizability ($α_d$) and electric dipole moment (EDM) due to the electron-nucleus tensor-pseudotensor (T-PT) and nuclear Schiff moment (NSM) interactions of the $^{199}$Hg ground state. Moreover, plausible reasons for the differences in the previous calculations are pointed out. Comparison between the calculated and experimental results of $α_d$ indicates that our EDM c…
A scheme to derive hadronic interactions induced by effective multi-quark terms is presented within the framework of chiral effective field theory. It is employed to work out the list of parity- and time-reversal-symmetry-violating hadronic interactions that are relevant for the computation of nuclear contributions to the electric dipole moments of the hydrogen-2, helium-3 and hydrogen-3 nuclei. We also derive the scattering and Faddeev equations required to compute electromagnetic form factors in general and electric dipole moments in particular.
QED radiative corrections have been calculated for leptonic and hadronic variables in parity-violating elastic ep scattering. For the first time, the calculation of the asymmetry in the elastic radiative tail is performed without the peaking-approximation assumption in hadronic variables configuration. A comparison with the PV-A4 data validates our approach. This method has been also used to evaluate the radiative corrections to the parity-violating asymmetry measured in the G0 experiment. The results obtained are here presented.
We construct the effective chiral Lagrangian involving hadronic and electromagnetic interactions originating from the QCD theta term. We impose vacuum alignment at both quark and hadronic levels, including field redefinitions to eliminate pion tadpoles. We show that leading time-reversal-violating (TV) hadronic interactions are related to isospin-violating interactions that can in principle be determined from charge-symmetry-breaking experiments. We discuss the complications that arise from TV electromagnetic interactions. Some implications of the expected sizes of various pion-nucleon TV inte…
Entangled pseudoscalar neutral meson pairs have been used in studying CP violation and searching CPT violation, but almost all the previous works concern $C=-1$ entangled state. Here we consider $C=+1$ entangled state of pseudoscalar neutral mesons, which is quite different from $C=-1$ entangled state and provides complementary information on symmetry violating parameters. After developing a general formalism, we consider three kinds of decay processes, namely, semileptonic-semileptonic, hadronic-hadronic and semileptonic-hadronic processes. For each kind of processes, we calculate the integra…
In this Ph.D. Thesis we analyze some CP-violating observables in Kaon decays. In Chapters 1-3 we describe the framework in which this Thesis has been developed and establish the definitions and notation. In Chapter 4 we study CP-violating asymmetries in the decays of charged Kaons K\to 3π. The calculation of the ΔI=3/2 contribution to $ε_K'$ in the chiral limit, is reported in Chapter 6. In Chapter 7 we perform a calculation of the direct CP-violating parameter $ε_K'$ using some of the results obtained in the other chapters. We also develop a new approach that can be used to systematically det…
We show how to determine the electric and weak dipole moments of the top quark simultaneously and independently from $e^+e^-\to t\bar t$ at $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV NLC. To obtain the best accuracies with which the dipole moments can be measured, we apply the optimal observables to extract the CP violating effects and consider only purely hadronic, hadronic-leptonic final state events. Results with left- and right- handed longitudinal polarized as well as unpolarized electron beams are given. We find that with $50fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity, the dipole moments can be measured to the accuracy of $…
An intrinsic parity violating hadronic tau lepton decay is investigated. $τ\to ππην$ is the process in which the dominant contribution to the amplitude is due to the intrinsic parity violation. To predict the hadronic invariant mass spectra and to compare them with experimental data, we extend the chiral Lagrangian with vector mesons so that it incorporates the intrinsic parity violating terms and $ϕ$ and $η^\prime$ mesons. The coefficients of the intrinsic parity violating terms will be determined by fitting the branching fractions for $V^I \rightarrow P γ$, $V^I \rightarrow 3 P$ and $P \to V…
The CP violating Weinberg operator (or the gluon chromo-electric dipole moment) is generated in many candidates of new physics beyond the standard model, and it contributes to observables such as the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutron, nuclei and atoms. In this proceedings contribution, we review the present understanding of the Weinberg operator as well as the result of the estimation of its effect to the EDM of $^3$He nucleus through the contact CP-odd nuclear force.
The interpretation of nuclear electric dipole moment (EDM) experiments is clouded by large theoretical uncertainties associated with nonperturbative matrix elements. In various beyond-the-Standard Model scenarios nuclear and diamagnetic atomic EDMs are expected to be dominated by CP-violating pion-nucleon interactions that arise from quark chromo-electric dipole moments. The corresponding CP-violating pion-nucleon coupling strengths are, however, poorly known. In this work we propose a strategy to calculate these couplings by using spectroscopic lattice QCD techniques. Instead of directly calc…
Within the Hadron-String Dynamics (HSD) transport approach we study the suppression pattern of charmonia at RHIC with respect to centrality and rapidity employing various model concepts such as variants of the 'comover absorption' model or the 'charmonium melting' scenario. We find that especially the ratio of the forward to mid-rapidity nuclear modification factors of J/Psi (R_AA (forward) / R_AA (mid)) cannot be explained by the interactions with 'formed' comoving mesons or by the 'color screening mechanism' alone. Only when incorporating interactions of the c or c-bar quark with a pre-hadro…
A new handed interaction between subconstituents of quarks could be at the origin of some small parity violating effects in one-jet inclusive production. Within a few years, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) will be used as a polarized proton-proton collider. In this context, we analyse the possibilities of disentangling some new parity violating effects from the standard spin asymmetries which are expected due to the Standard Model QCD-Weak interference. We also explore the possibilities of placing some more stringent limits on the quark compositeness scale $Λ$ thanks to measurements…
Charmonium spectroscopy provides strong guidelines to effective field theories, thereby gaining insight into quark confinement and the generation of hadron masses. Hadronic transitions between charmonium states have been measured with unprecedented high precision with the BESIII spectrometer at IHEP Beijing, China. We present systematic studies of isospin-violating decays in charmonium, such as $ψ' \rightarrow π^{0} J/ψ$, $ψ' \rightarrow π^{0} h_{c}$, $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow π^{0} J/ψ$ at $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.009 GeV, and their improved measurements of their branching fractions.
After almost five decades of study of parity violation in hadronic systems, the determination of the seven weak meson-nucleon couplings is still incomplete. Whereas parity violation in nuclear systems is complicated by the intricacies of QCD, measurements of parity violation in the much simpler proton-proton system are more straightforward to interpret. We now have three such precision pp experiments at 13.6, at 45, and 221 MeV. Today there are also better possibilities for theoretical interpretation using effective field theory. In electron-proton scattering, parity violating ep experiments s…
Leading twist light cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) are key ingredients in calculating various hadronic amplitudes using light cone QCD sum rules. This work concentrates on calculating the leading twist LCDAs of P-wave heavy quarkonia. Quark model wavefunctions for the ground, first and second excited states of P-wave charmonia and bottomonia have been calculated, and are used for calculating the relevant LCDAs and leptonic decay constants.
Hidden charm mesons continue playing an essential role as relevant probes to understand the evolution of partonic matter. It is expected that the charmonia that survived the quark-gluon plasma phase suffer collisions with other particles composing the hadronic matter. In this work, we intend to contribute on this subject by presenting an updated study about the interactions of $J/ψ$ with surrounding hadronic medium. The meson-meson interactions are described with a $SU(4)$ effective Lagrangian, and within the framework of unitarized coupled channel amplitudes projected onto s-wave. The symmetr…
If $R$-parity is not conserved, the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) could decay via lepton number violating or baryon number violating interactions. The latter case is particularly insidious since it leads to a reduction of the $\eslt$ as well as leptonic signals for supersymmetry. We evaluate cross sections for jets plus $\eslt$, 1$\ell$, $2\ell$ (same-sign and opposite sign) and $3\ell$ event topologies that result from the simultaneous production of all sparticles at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), assuming that the lightest supersymmetric particle $\tz_1$ decays hadronically i…
There are strong similarities between charge-parity (CP) violating observables in hadronic $B$ decays (in particular $ΔA^-_{\rm CP}$ in $B\to Kπ$) and direct CP violation in Kaon decays ($ε^\prime$): All these observables are very sensitive to new physics (NP) which is at the same time CP and isospin violating (i.e. NP with complex couplings which are different for up quarks and down quarks). Intriguingly, both the measurements of $ε^\prime$ and $ΔA^-_{\rm CP}$ show deviations from their Standard Model predictions, calling for a common explanation (the latter is known as the $B\to Kπ$ puzzle).…
We consider longitudinal, parity-violating single-spin asymmetries in proton-proton collisions at RHIC. The focus of this study is on the production of single-inclusive jets, as well as on jets that contain a charm quark. While the asymmetry for inclusive jets turns out to be small, we find considerably larger effects for the case of charm production. We also investigate the role of leading threshold logarithms and find that they increase the polarized and unpolarized cross sections and reduce the spin asymmetry.
