We report finding high-velocity components in the Hα emission wings of St 2-22 spectra, obtained in 2005. This discovery have encouraged us to start the present study, aiming to show that this little studied object is a jet producing symbiotic system. We used high-resolution optical and low-resolution near infrared spectra, as well as available optical and infrared photometry, to evaluate some of the physical parameters of the St 2-22 components and the characteristics of the jets. The evaluated parameters of the components confirmed that St 2-22 is a S-type symbiotic star. Our results demonstrate that an unnoticed outburst of St 2-22, similar to those in classical symbiotics, occurred in the first half of 2005. During the outburst, collimated, bipolar jets were ejected by the hot component of St 2-22 with an average velocity of about 1700 km/s.

本文通过多波段观测分析高度双极天体 Hen 2-57,发现其具有沙漏形态、中红外过剩及中心核共生星特征,提出其由尘埃包裹的D型共生中央引擎塑造双极星云,是M 2-9的类似体。
We studied the central region of bipolar nebula M\,2-9 using radio-continuum observations obtained from the Jansky Very Large Array (JVLA) and the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) interferometers. This work presents new images at $\sim$ 43 GHz ($\sim$ 7.0 mm) and $\sim$ 345 GHz ($\sim$ 0.9 mm) with angular resolutions of $\sim$ 0$\rlap{.}^{\prime\prime}$047 and 0$\rlap{.}^{\prime\prime}$09, respectively. The continuum emission at $\sim$ 43 GHz shows an elongated jet-like structure perpendicular to the $\sim$ 345 GHz observation. We conclude that both emissions could correspond to tracing …

Symbiotic stars belong to a group of interacting binaries that display a wide variety of phenomena, including prominent outbursts connected with mass transfer, as well as stellar winds, jets, eclipses, or intrinsic variability of the components. Dozens of new symbiotic stars and candidates have been discovered in recent years. However, there are many objects which are still poorly studied. Some symbiotic candidates suspected in the literature have never been studied spectroscopically. In this contribution, we present the first results of the ongoing campaign focused on symbiotic candidates. In…
The role of bipolar jets in the formation of stars, and in particular how they are launched, is still not well understood. We probe the protostellar jet launching mechanism, via high resolution observations of the near-IR [FeII] 1.53,1.64 micron lines. We consider the bipolar jet from the Classical T Tauri star, DO Tau, & investigate jet morphology & kinematics close to the star, using AO-assisted IFU observations from GEMINI/NIFS. The brighter, blue-shifted jet is collimated quickly after launch. This early collimation requires the presence of magnetic fields. We confirm velocity asymmetries …
St 2-22 is a relatively poorly studied S-type symbiotic system that belongs to a small group of jet-producing systems as a result of disc accretion onto a white dwarf fed by its red giant companion. The goal of this paper is to analyse the nature and derive the basic parameters of St 2-22, and to follow the jet evolution. Photometric monitoring for over 16 yrs and high-quality spectroscopic data enabled us to shed new light on its nature. The high-resolution SALT spectra and $V I_C$ photometry obtained during and between the last two outbursts have been used to search for periodic changes, to …
Formation of Bipolar Planetary Nebulae by Intermediate-Luminosity Optical Transients
We explore a new, efficient mechanism that can power toroidally magnetized jets up to two to three times their original terminal velocity after they enter a self-similar phase of magnetic acceleration. Underneath the elongated outflow lobe formed by a magnetized bubble, a wide-angle free wind, through the interplay with its ambient toroid, is compressed and accelerated around its axial jet. The extremely magnetic bubble can inflate over its original size, depending on the initial Alfvén Mach number $M_A$ of the launched flow. The shape-independent slope $\partial{}v_r/\partial{}r=2/3t$ is a sa…
Kinematic signatures of the jet, winds, multicavities, and episodic shells arising in the unified model of bipolar outflows developed in Shang et al.\ (2020), in which an outflow forms by radially directed, wide-angle toroidally magnetized winds interacting with magnetized isothermal toroids, are extracted in the form of position--velocity diagrams. Elongated outflow lobes, driven by magnetized winds and their interplay with the environment, are dominated by extended bubble structures with mixing layers beyond the conventional thin-shell models. The axial cylindrically stratified density jet c…

Current models predict that binary interactions are a major ingredient for the formation of bipolar planetary nebulae (PNe) and pre-planetary nebulae (PPNe). Despite years of radial velocity (RV) monitoring, the paucity of known binaries amongst the latter systems is insufficient to examine this relationship in detail. In this paper, we report on the discovery of a long period (P=2654$\pm$124 d) binary at the centre of the Galactic bipolar PPN, IRAS 08005-2356 (V510 Pup) determined from long-term spectroscopic and near-infrared time series data. The spectroscopic orbit is fit with an eccentric…
Very low-mass stars are known to have jets and outflows, which is indicative of a scaled-down version of low-mass star formation. However, only very few outflows in very low-mass sources are well characterized. We characterize the bipolar molecular outflow of the very low-mass star Par-Lup3-4, a 0.12 M$_{\odot}$ object known to power an optical jet. We observed Par-Lup3-4 with ALMA in Bands 6 and 7, detecting both the continuum and CO molecular gas. In particular, we studied three main emission lines: CO(2-1), CO(3-2), and $^{13}$CO(3-2). Our observations reveal for the first time the base of …
