Advances in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) have provided the availability of small and low-cost sensors with the capability of sensing various types of physical and environmental conditions, data processing, and wireless communication. Since WSN protocols are application specific, the focus has been given to the routing protocols that might differ depending on the application and network architecture. In this work, novel routing protocols have been proposed which is a cluster-based security protocol is named as Efficient and Secure Routing Protocol (ESRP) for WSN. The goal of ESRP is to provide an energy efficient routing solution with dynamic security features for clustered WSN. During the network formation, a node which is connected to a Personal Computer (PC) has been selected as a sink node. Once the sensor nodes were deployed, the sink node logically segregates the other nodes in a cluster structure and subsequently creates a WSN. This centralized cluster formation method is used to reduce the node level processing burden and avoid multiple communications. In order to ensure reliable data delivery, various security features have been incorporated in the proposed protocol such as Modified Zero-Knowledge Protocol (MZKP), Promiscuous hearing method, Trapping of adversaries and Mine detection. One of the unique features of this ESRP is that it can dynamically decide about the selection of these security methods, based on the residual energy of nodes.

This paper presents comparison of different hierarchical (position and non-position based) protocols with respect to different mobility models. Previous work mainly focuses on static networks or at most a single mobility model. Using only one mobility model may not predict the behavior of routing protocol accurately. Simulation results show that mobility has large impact on the behavior of WSN routing protocols. Also, position based routing protocols performs better in terms of packet delivery compared to non position based routing protocols.
In this paper, we propose Regional Energy Efficient Cluster Heads based on Maximum Energy (REECH-ME) Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) . The main purpose of this protocol is to improve the network lifetime and particularly the stability period of the network. In REECH-ME, the node with the maximum energy in a region becomes Cluster Head (CH) of that region for that particular round and the number of the cluster heads in each round remains the same. Our technique outperforms LEACH which uses probabilistic approach for the selection of CHs. We also implement the Uniform Random…
Wireless sensor nodes along with Base Station (BS) constitute a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Nodes comprise of tiny power battery. Nodes sense the data and send it to BS. In Wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes sense the data from environment according to its functionality and forwards to its base station. This process is called Data collection. The Data collection process is done either directly or by multi-hop routing. In direct routing, every sensor node directly transfers its sensed data to base station which has an impact on energy consumption from sensor node due to the far distance between the sensor node and base station. In multi-hop routing, the sensed data is relayed through multiple nodes to the base station, it consumes less energy. This paper pr…

We divide the rest of nodes into two equal regions whose distance is beyond the threshold distance. We select cluster heads (CHs…
More and more critical Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) applications are emerging. Those applications need reliability and respect of time constraints. The underlying mechanisms such as MAC and routing must handle such requirements. Our approach to the time constraint problem is to bound the hop-count between a node and the sink and the time it takes to do a hop so the end-to-end delay can be bounded and the communications are thus real-time. For reliability purpose we propose to select forwarder nodes depending on how they are connected in the direction of the sink. In order to be able to do s…

Sink mobility is seen as a successful strategy to resolve the hotspot problem in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Mobile sinks roam in the network and collect data from special nodes such as Cluster Heads (CH) by means of short-range communications which improves the energy efficiency. Numerous mobile sink based routing protocols have been proposed, however, they incur high delays especially in large scale networks where the mobile sink has to travel for a long distance to collect data from CHs and consequently they failed to ensure a tradeoff between energy efficiency and delay. To resolve this…

Routing in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) aims to interconnect sensor nodes via single or multi-hop paths. The routes are established to forward data packets from sensor nodes to the sink. Establishing a single path to report each data packet results in increasing energy consumption in WSN, hence, data aggregation routing is used to combine data packets and consequently reduce the number of transmissions. This reduces the routing overhead by eliminating redundant and meaningless data. There are two models for data aggregation routing in WSN: mobile agent and client/server. This paper describes …
