Linear second order differential equations of the form $d^{2}w/dz^{2}-\left \{ {u^{2}f\left( u,z\right) +g\left( z\right) }\right\} w=0$ are studied, where $\left| u\right| \rightarrow \infty $ and $z$ lies in a complex bounded or unbounded domain $\mathbf{D}$. If $f\left( u,z\right) $ and $g\left( z\right) $ are meromorphic in $\mathbf{D}$, and $f\left(u,z\right) $ has no zeros, the classical Liouville-Green/WKBJ approximation provides asymptotic expansions involving the exponential function. The coefficients in these expansions either multiply the exponential, or in an alternative form appear in the exponent. The latter case has applications to the simplification of turning point expansions as well as certain quantum mechanic problems, and new computable error bounds are derived. It is shown how these bounds can be sharpened to provide realistic error estimates, and this is illustrated by an application to modified Bessel functions of complex argument and large positive order. Explicit computable error bounds are also derived for asymptotic expansions for particular solutions of the nonhomogeneous equations of the form $d^{2}w/dz^{2}-\left\{ {u^{2}f\left(z\right) +g\left( z\right) }\right\} w=p\left( z\right)$.
We study the inverse problem of recovering Sturm-Liouville operators on the half-line with a Bessel-type singularity inside the interval from the given Weyl function. The corresponding uniqueness theorem is proved, a constructive procedure for the solution of the inverse problem is provided, also necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse problem are obtained.
In this present paper our aim is to deal with two integral transforms which involving the Gauss hypergeometric function as its kernels. We prove some compositions formulas for such a generalized fractional integrals with k Bessel function. The results are established in terms of generalized Wright type hypergeometric function and generalized hypergeometric series. Also, the authors presented some corresponding assertions for Riemann Liouville and Erdelyi Kober fractional integral transforms.
In this paper, we aim to present new extensions of incomplete gamma, beta, Gauss hypergeometric, confluent hypergeometric function and Appell-Lauricella hypergeometric functions, by using the extended Bessel function due to Boudjelkha [4]. Some recurrence relations, transformation formulas, Mellin transform and integral representations are obtained for these generalizations. Further, an extension of the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative operator is established.
We aim to introduce the generalized multiindex Bessel function $J_{\left( β_{j}\right) _{m},κ,b}^{\left( α_{j}\right)_{m},γ,c}\left[ z\right] $ and to present some formulas of the Riemann-Liouville fractional integration and differentiation operators. Further, we also derive certain integral formulas involving the newly defined generalized multiindex Bessel function $J_{\left( β_{j}\right) _{m},κ,b}^{\left( α_{j}\right)_{m},γ,c}\left[ z\right] $. We prove that such integrals are expressed in terms of the Fox-Wright function $_{p}Ψ_{q}(z)$. The results presented here are of general in nature an…
We show that the percentage of primitive forms of level one and weight $4k\rightarrow \infty$ for which the associated $L$-function at the central point is no less than $(\log{k})^{-2}$ is at least 20%. The key ingredients of our proof are the Kuznetsov convolution formula and the Liouville-Green method.
In this paper, we investigate the sampling analysis for a new Sturm-Liouville problem with symmetrically located discontinuities which are defined to depending on a neighborhood of a midpoint of the interval. Also the problem has transmission conditions at these points of discontinuity and includes an eigenparameter in a boundary condition. We establish briefly the needed relations for the derivations of the sampling theorems and construct Green's function for the problem. Then we derive sampling representations for transforms whose kernels are either solutions or Green's functions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a new class of boundary value transmission problems (BVTP's) for Sturm-Liouville equation on two separate intervals. We introduce modified inner product in direct sum space $L_{2}[a,c)\oplus L_{2}(c,b]\oplus\mathbb{C}^{2}$ and define symmetric linear operator in it such a way that the considered problem can be interpreted as an eigenvalue problem of this operator. Then by suggesting an own approaches we construct Green's function for problem under consideration and find the resolvent function for corresponding inhomogeneous problem.
The purpose of this paper is to extend some spectral properties of regular Sturm-Liouville problems to the special type discontinuous boundary-value problem, which consists of a Sturm-Liouville equation together with eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions and two supplementary transmission conditions. We construct the resolvent operator and Green's function and prove theorems about expansions in terms of eigenfunctions in modified Hilbert space $L_{2}[a, b]$. \vskip0.3cm\noindent Keywords: Boundary-value problems, transmission conditions, Resolvent operator, expansion theorem.
Using the new conformable fractional derivative, which differs from the Riemann-Liouville and Caputo fractional derivatives, we reformulate the second-order conjugate boundary value problem in this new setting. Utilizing the corresponding positive fractional Green's function, we apply a functional compression-expansion fixed point theorem to prove the existence of a positive solution. We then compare our results favorably to those based on the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative.
We use the newly introduced conformable fractional derivative, which is different from the Caputo and Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives, to reformulate several common boundary value problems, including those with conjugate, right-focal, and Lidstone conditions. With the fractional differential equation and fractional boundary conditions established, we find the corresponding Green's functions and prove their positivity under appropriate assumptions.
Let $Γ$ be geometric tree graph with $m$ edges and consider the second order Sturm-Liouville operator $Ł[u]=(-pu')'+qu$ acting on functions that are continuous on all of $Γ$, and twice continuously differentiable in the interior of each edge. The functions $p$ and $q$ are assumed uniformly continuous on each edge, and $p$ strictly positive on $Γ$. The problem is to find a solution $f:Γ\to \R$ to the problem $Ł[f] = h$ with $2m$ additional conditions at the nodes of $Γ$. These node conditions include continuity at internal nodes, and jump conditions on the derivatives of $f$ with respect to a p…
This paper is devoted to the derivation of expansion a associated with a discontinuous Sturm-Liouville problems defined on $[-π, 0)\cup(0,π]$. We derive an eigenfunction expansion theorem for the Green's function of the problem as well as a theorem of uniform convergence of a certain class of functions.
This paper presents a new approach to the two-interval Sturm-Liouville eigenfunction expansions, based essentially on the method of integral equations. We consider the Sturm-Liouville problem together with two supplementary transmission conditions at one interior point. Further we develop Green's function method for spectral analysis of the considered problem in modified Hilbert space.
We consider two main inverse Sturm-Liouville problems: the problem of recovery of the potential and the boundary conditions from two spectra or from a spectral density function. A simple method for practical solution of such problems is developed, based on the transmutation operator approach, new Neumann series of Bessel functions representations for solutions and the Gelfand-Levitan equation. The method allows one to reduce the inverse Sturm-Liouville problem directly to a system of linear algebraic equations, such that the potential is recovered from the first element of the solution vector.…

In recent years, the theory for Leibniz integral rule in the fractional sense has not been able to get substantial development. As an urgent problem to be solved, we study a Leibniz integral rule for Riemann-Liouville and Caputo type differentiation operators with general fractional-order of $n-1 <α\leq n$, $n \in \mathbb{N}$ . A rule of fractional differentiation under integral sign with general order is necessary and applicable tool for verification by substitution for candidate solutions of inhomogeneous multi-term fractional differential equations. We derive explicit analytical solutions o…
In this paper we study the local zero behavior of orthogonal polynomials around an algebraic singularity, that is, when the measure of orthogonality is supported on $ [-1,1] $ and behaves like $ h(x)|x - x_0|^λdx $ for some $ x_0 \in (-1,1) $, where $ h(x) $ is strictly positive and analytic. We shall sharpen the theorem of Yoram Last and Barry Simon and show that the so-called fine zero spacing (which is known for $ λ= 0$) unravels in the general case, and the asymptotic behavior of neighbouring zeros around the singularity can be described with the zeros of the function $ c J_{\frac{λ- 1}{2}…
We provide explicit representations of Green's functions for general linear fractional differential operators with {\it variable coefficients} and Riemann-Liouvilles derivatives. We assume that all their coefficients are continuous in $[0, \infty)$. Using the explicit representations for Green's function, we obtain explicit representations for solution of inhomogeneous fractional differential equation with variable coefficients of general type. Therefore the method of Green's function, which was developed in previous research for solution of fractional differential equation with constant coeff…
We derive refined rigorous error estimates for approximate solutions of Sturm-Liouville and Riccati equations with real or complex potentials. The approximate solutions include WKB approximations, Airy and parabolic cylinder functions, and certain Bessel functions. Our estimates are applied to solutions of the angular Teukolsky equation with a complex aspherical parameter in a rotating black hole Kerr geometry.
The linear operator $c + (-Δ)^{α/2}$, where $c > 0$ and $(-Δ)^{α/2}$ is the fractional Laplacian on the periodic domain, arises in the existence of periodic travelling waves in the fractional Korteweg--de Vries equation. We establish a relation of the Green's function of this linear operator with the Mittag--Leffler function, which was previously used in the context of Riemann--Liouville's and Caputo's fractional derivatives. By using this relation, we prove that Green's function is strictly positive and single-lobe (monotonically decreasing away from the maximum point) for every $c > 0$ and e…
