For a classical group $G$ and a Coxeter element $c$ of the Weyl group, it is known that the coordinate ring $\mathbb{C}[G^{e,c^2}]$ of the double Bruhat cell $G^{e,c^2}:=B\cap B_-c^2B_-$ has a structure of cluster algebra of finite type, where $B$ and $B_-$ are opposite Borel subgroups. In this article, we consider the case $G$ is of type ${\rm B}_r$, ${\rm C}_r$ or ${\rm D}_r$ and describe all the cluster variables in $\mathbb{C}[G^{e,c^2}]$ as monomial realizations of certain Demazure crystals.
Let $G$ be a simply connected simple algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$, $B$ and $B_-$ be its two opposite Borel subgroups. For two elements $u$, $v$ of the Weyl group $W$, it is known that the coordinate ring ${\mathbb C}[G^{u,v}]$ of the double Bruhat cell $G^{u,v}=BuB\cap B_-vB_-$ is isomorphic to a cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}(\textbf{i})_{\mathbb C}$ [arXiv:math/0305434, arXiv:1602.00498]. In the case $u=e$, $v=c^2$ ($c$ is a Coxeter element), the algebra ${\mathbb C}[G^{e,c^2}]$ has only finitely many cluster variables. In this article, for $G={\rm SL}_{r+1}(\mathbb{C})$, we obtain explic…
The conjecturally perfect Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR) crystals are known to be isomorphic as classical crystals to certain Demazure subcrystals of crystal graphs of irreducible highest weight modules over affine algebras. Under some assumptions we show that the classical isomorphism from the Demazure crystal to the KR crystal, sends zero arrows to zero arrows. This implies that the affine crystal structure on these KR crystals is unique.
We show that every Weyl module for a current algebra has a filtration whose successive quotients are isomorphic to Demazure modules, and that the path model for a tensor product of level zero fundamental representations is isomorphic to a disjoint union of Demazure crystals. Moreover, we show that the Demazure modules appearing in these two objects coincide exactly. Though these results have been previously known in the simply laced case, they are new in the non-simply laced case.
Demazure crystals are subcrystals of highest weight irreducible $\mathfrak{g}$-crystals. In this article, we study tensor products of a larger class of subcrystals, called extremal, and give a local characterization for exactly when the tensor product of Demazure crystals is extremal. We then show that tensor products of Demazure crystals decompose into direct sums of Demazure crystals if and only if the tensor product is extremal, thus providing a sufficient and necessary local criterion for when the tensor product of Demazure crystals is itself Demazure. As an application, we show that the p…
A Demazure crystal is the basis at $q=0$ of a Demazure module. Demazure crystals play an important role in Schubert calculus because the character of a Demazure crystal in type A is identical to a key polynomial, which is closely related to Schubert polynomials. In this paper, we study tensor products of Demazure crystals. Each connected component of a tensor product of Demazure crystals need not be isomorphic to some Demazure crystal. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for every connected component of a tensor product to be isomorphic to some Demazure crystal. Also, we obtain the…
We study finite dimensional representations of current algebras, loop algebras and their quantized versions. For the current algebra of a simple Lie algebra of type {\tt ADE}, we show that Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules and Weyl modules are in fact all Demazure modules. As a consequence one obtains an elementary proof of the dimension formula for Weyl modules for the current and the loop algebra. Further, we show that the crystals of the Weyl and the Demazure module are the same up to some additional label zero arrows for the Weyl module. For the current algebra $\Lgc$ of an arbitrary simple Lie…
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for an MV polytope $P$ in a highest weight crystal to lie in an arbitrary fixed Demazure crystal (resp., opposite Demazure crystal), in terms of the lengths of edges along a path through the 1-skeleton of $P$ corresponding to a reduced word for the longest element of the Weyl group $W$. % Also, we give an explicit description as a pseudo-Weyl polytope for extremal MV polytopes in a highest weight crystal. % Finally, by combining the results above, we obtain a polytopal condition for an MV polytope $P$ to lie in an arbitrary fixed opposite Demazure c…
In this paper, we give a polytopal estimate of Mirković-Vilonen polytopes lying in a Demazure crystal in terms of Minkowski sums of extremal Mirković-Vilonen polytopes. As an immediate consequence of this result, we provide a necessary (but not sufficient) polytopal condition for a Mirković-Vilonen polytope to lie in a Demazure crystal.
We give a parametrization for crystal bases of Demazure modules as a set of lattice points in some convex polytope and we also describe explicitly the extremal vectors as solutions of some system of linear equations.
Naoi showed that tensor products of perfect Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals are isomorphic to certain generalized Demazure crystals. We extend Naoi's results to address distinguished subsets of these tensor products. In type A, these are naturally described in terms of katabolizable tableaux which was key to resolving conjectures of Shimozono-Weyman and Chen-Haiman in arXiv:2007.04952.
We show that there exists a suitable sequence $\{w^{(k)}\}_{k \ge 0}$ of Weyl group elements for the perfect crystal $B = B^{1,3l}$ such that the path realizations of the Demazure crystals $B_{w^{(k)}}(lΛ_2)$ for the quantum affine algebra $U_q(D_4^{(3)})$ have tensor product like structure with mixing index $κ=1$.
We give a criterion for the Demazure crystal $B_w(λ)$ defined by Kashiwara to have a tensor product structure. We study the $\sln$ symmetric tensor case, and see some Demazure characters are expressed using Kostka-Foulkes polynomials.
The Key map is an important tool in the determination of the Demazure crystals associated to Kac-Moody algebras. In finite type A, it can be computed in the tableau realization of crystals by a simple combinatorial procedure due to Lascoux and Sch{ü}tzenberger. We show that this procedure is a part of a more general construction holding in the Kac-Moody case that we illustrate in finite types and affine type A. In affine type A, we introduce higher level generalizations of core partitions which notably give interesting analogues of the Young lattice and are expected to parametrize distinguishe…
It has previously been shown that, at least for non-exceptional Kac-Moody Lie algebras, there is a close connection between Demazure crystals and tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals. In particular, certain Demazure crystals are isomorphic as classical crystals to tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals via a canonically chosen isomorphism. Here we show that this isomorphism intertwines the natural affine grading on Demazure crystals with a combinatorially defined energy function. As a consequence, we obtain a formula of the Demazure character in terms of the energy functi…
We show that a tensor product of nonexceptional type Kirillov--Reshetikhin (KR) crystals is isomorphic to a direct sum of Demazure crystals; we do this in the mixed level case and without the perfectness assumption, thus generalizing a result of Naoi. We use this result to show that, given two tensor products of such KR crystals with the same maximal weight, after removing certain $0$-arrows, the two connected components containing the minimal/maximal elements are isomorphic. Based on the latter fact, we reduce a tensor product of higher level perfect KR crystals to one of single-column KR cry…
We establish the equality of the specialization $E_{wλ}(x;q,0)$ of the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomial $E_{wλ}(x;q,t)$ at $t=0$ with the graded character $\mathop{\rm gch} U_{w}^{+}(λ)$ of a certain Demazure-type submodule $U_{w}^{+}(λ)$ of a tensor product of "single-column" Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules for an untwisted affine Lie algebra, where $λ$ is a dominant integral weight and $w$ is a (finite) Weyl group element, this generalizes our previous result, that is, the equality between the specialization $P_λ(x;q,0)$ of the symmetric Macdonald polynomial $P_λ(x;q,t)$ at $t=0$ and the grad…
In this paper, we study a tensor product of perfect Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals (KR crystals for short) whose levels are not necessarily equal. We show that, by tensoring with a certain highest weight element, such a crystal becomes isomorphic as a full subgraph to a certain disjoint union of Demazure crystals contained in a tensor product of highest weight crystals. Moreover, we show that this isomorphism preserves their gradings, where the grading on the tensor product of KR crystals is given by the energy function, and that on the other side is given by the minus of the action of the degr…
We study, in the path realization, crystals for Demazure modules of affine Lie algebras of types $A^{(1)}_n,B^{(1)}_n,C^{(1)}_n,D^{(1)}_n, A^{(2)}_{2n-1},A^{(2)}_{2n}, and D^{(2)}_{n+1}$. We find a special sequence of affine Weyl group elements for the selected perfect crystal, and show if the highest weight is $l\La_0$, the Demazure crystal has a remarkably simple structure.
Catalan functions, the graded Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on the flag variety, are a rich class of symmetric functions which include $k$-Schur functions and parabolic Hall-Littlewood polynomials. We prove that Catalan functions indexed by partition weight are the characters of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_\ell)$-generalized Demazure crystals as studied by Lakshmibai-Littelmann-Magyar and Naoi. We obtain Schur positive formulas for these functions, settling conjectures of Chen-Haiman and Shimozono-Weyman. Our approach more generally gives key positive formulas for graded Eul…
Answering a question of Kuniba, Misra, Okado, Takagi, and Uchiyama, it is shown that certain Demazure characters of affine type A, coincide with the graded characters of coordinate rings of closures of conjugacy classes of nilpotent matrices. This entails a translation of the affine type A crystal theory into the language of tableaux following Nakayashiki and Yamada, for the case of tensor products of the classical crystals indexed by rectangular partitions. In particular the explicit action of the zero-th crystal raising operator on the above crystals is given, and its direct connection with …
In this paper, we give a characterization of the crystal bases $\mathcal{B}_{x}^{+}(λ)$, $x \in W_{\mathrm{af}}$, of Demazure submodules $V_{x}^{+}(λ)$, $x \in W_{\mathrm{af}}$, of a level-zero extremal weight module $V(λ)$ over a quantum affine algebra $U_{q}$, where $λ$ is an arbitrary level-zero dominant integral weight, and $W_{\mathrm{af}}$ denotes the affine Weyl group. This characterization is given in terms of the initial direction of a semi-infinite Lakshmibai-Seshadri path, and is established under a suitably normalized isomorphism between the crystal basis $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ of the le…
Let $G$ be a simply connected simple algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$, $B$ and $B_-$ its two opposite Borel subgroups, and $W$ the associated Weyl group. It is shown that the coordinate ring ${\mathbb C}[G^{u,v}]$ ($u$, $v\in W$) of the double Bruhat cell $G^{u,v}=BuB\cap B_-vB_-$ is isomorphic to the cluster algebra ${\mathcal{A}}(\textbf{i})_{\mathbb C}$ and the initial cluster variables of ${\mathbb C}[G^{u,v}]$ are the generalized minors $Δ(k;\textbf{i})$ by Berenstein, Fomin, Zelevinsky, Goodearl and Yakimov. In the case that a classical group $G$ is of type ${\rm B}_r$, ${\rm C}_r$ or $…
Let $W$ be a Coxeter group. The goal of the paper is to construct new Hopf algebras that contain Hecke algebras $H_{\bf q}(W)$ as (left) coideal subalgebras. Our Hecke-Hopf algebras ${\bf H}(W)$ have a number of applications. In particular they provide new solutions of quantum Yang-Baxter equation and lead to a construction of a new family of endo-functors of the category of $H_{\bf q}(W)$-modules. Hecke-Hopf algebras for the symmetric group are related to Fomin-Kirillov algebras, for an arbitrary Coxeter group $W$ the "Demazure" part of ${\bf H}(W)$ is being acted upon by generalized braided …
We study the path realization of Demazure crystals related to solvable lattice models in statistical mechanics. Various characters are represented in a unified way as the sums over one dimensional configurations which we call unrestricted, classically restricted and restricted paths. As an application characters of Demazure modules are obtained in terms of $q$-multinomial coefficients for several level 1 modules of classical affine algebras.
We characterize, in the case of affine sl(2), the crystal base of the Demazure module E_w(\La) in terms of extended Young diagrams or paths for any dominant integral weight \La and Weyl group element w. Its character is evaluated via two expressions, 'bosonic' and 'fermionic'.
Using the classification of finite Weyl groupoids we prove that crystallographic arrangements, a large subclass of the class of simplicial arrangements which was recently defined, are hereditarily inductively free. In particular, all crystallographic reflection arrangements are hereditarily inductively free, among them the arrangement of type $E_8$. With little extra work we prove that also all Coxeter arrangements are inductively free.
Let $\{B(Λ_m)|m\in\Z/e\Z\}$ be the set of level one $\mathfrak{g}(A^{(1)}_{e-1})$-crystals, and consider the realization of $B(Λ_m)$ using $e$-restricted partitions. We prove a purely Young diagrammatic criterion for an element of $B(Λ_0)^{\otimes d_1}\otimes B(Λ_m)^{\otimes d_2}$ to be in the component $B(d_1Λ_0+d_2Λ_m)$. As an application, we give a non-recursive characterization of simple modules of the Hecke algebra of type $B$. In the course of the proof, we also obtain a combinatorial description of the second type of Kashiwara's Demazure crystal in $B(Λ_m)$.
We give a new model for the crystal graphs of an affine Lie algebra g^, combining Littelmann's path model with the Kyoto path model. The vertices of the crystal graph are represented by certain infinitely looping paths which we call skeins. We apply this model to the case when the corresponding finite-dimensional algebra g has a minuscule representation (classical type and E_6, E_7). We prove that the basic level-one representation of g^, when considered as a representation of g, is an infinite tensor product of fundamental representations of g. A similar tensor product phenomenon holds for ce…
Let $G$ be a simply connected simple algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$, $B$ and $B_-$ be two opposite Borel subgroups in $G$ and $W$ be the Weyl group. For $u$, $v\in W$, it is known that the coordinate ring ${\mathbb C}[G^{u,v}]$ of the double Bruhat cell $G^{u,v}=BuB\cap B_-vB_-$ is isomorphic to an upper cluster algebra $\bar{\mathcal A}({\bf i})_{\mathbb C}$ and the generalized minors $\{Δ(k;{\bf i})\}$ are the cluster variables belonging to a given initial seed in ${\mathbb C}[G^{u,v}]$ [Berenstein A., Fomin S., Zelevinsky A., Duke Math. J. 126 (2005), 1-52, math.RT/0305434]. In the case …
The most general construction of double affine Artin groups (DAAG) and Hecke algebras (DAHA) associates such objects to pairs of compatible reductive group data. We show that DAAG/DAHA always admit a faithful action by automorphisms of a finite index subgroup of the Artin group of type $A_{2}$, which descends to a faithful outer action of a congruence subgroup of $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ or $PSL(2,\mathbb{Z})$. This was previously known only in some special cases and, to the best of our knowledge, not even conjectured to hold in full generality. The structural intricacies of DAAG/DAHA are captured b…
This paper considers the geometry of $E_8$ from a Clifford point of view in three complementary ways. Firstly, in earlier work, I had shown how to construct the four-dimensional exceptional root systems from the 3D root systems using Clifford techniques, by constructing them in the 4D even subalgebra of the 3D Clifford algebra; for instance the icosahedral root system $H_3$ gives rise to the largest (and therefore exceptional) non-crystallographic root system $H_4$. Arnold's trinities and the McKay correspondence then hint that there might be an indirect connection between the icosahedron and …
