In this note, we establish the following Second Main Theorem type estimate for every entire non-algebraically degenerate holomorphic curve $f\colon\mathbb{C}\rightarrow\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})$, in present of a {\sl generic} hypersuface $D\subset\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})$ of sufficiently high degree $d\geq 15(5n+1)n^n$: \[ T_f(r) \leq \,N_f^{[1]}(r,D) + O\big(\log T_f(r) + \log r \big)\parallel, \] where $T_f(r)$ and $N_f^{[1]}(r,D)$ stand for the order function and the $1$-truncated counting function in Nevanlinna theory. This inequality quantifies recent results on the logarithmic Green--Griffiths conjecture.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the geometric properties of real hypersurfaces of D'Angelo infinite type in ${\mathbb C}^n$. In order to understand the situation of flatness of these hypersurfaces, it is natural to ask whether there exists a nonconstant holomorphic curve tangent to a given hypersurface to infinite order. A sufficient condition for this existence is given by using Newton polyhedra, which is an important concept in singularity theory. More precisely, equivalence conditions are given in the case of some model hypersurfaces.
We consider the locus of $r$-tuples of homogeneous forms of some fixed degree whose common vanishing locus in $\mathbb{P}^r$ is positive dimensional. We show that any component of maximal dimension of that locus either consists of homogeneous forms all vanishing on some line or homogeneous forms where a proper subset fail to intersect properly.
Let $X$ be an irreducible holomorphic symplectic fourfold and $D$ a smooth hypersurface in $X$. It follows from a result by Amerik and Campana that the characteristic foliation (that is the foliation given by the kernel of the restriction of the symplectic form to $D$) is not algebraic unless $D$ is uniruled. Suppose now that the Zariski closure of its general leaf is a surface. We prove that $X$ has a lagrangian fibration and $D$ is the inverse image of a curve on its base.
For $q\leq 3$ smooth plane algebraic curves $\mathcal{C}_i$ having simple normal crossings, if the invariant logarithmic $2$-jet differential bundle associated to $(\mathbb{P}^2(\mathbb{C}), \sum_{i=1}^q \mathcal{C}_i)$ has a nonzero section vanishing on some ample divisor, then, for every algebraically nondegenerate entire holomorphic curve $f\colon\mathbb{C}\rightarrow\mathbb{P}^2(\mathbb{C})$, we have a Second Main Theorem type estimate: \[ T_f(r) \leq c\sum_{i=1}^q\,N_f^{[1]}(r,\mathcal{C}_i) + o\big(T_f(r) \big)\parallel, \] where $T_f(r)$ and $N_f^{[1]}(r,C_i)$ stand for the order functi…
We give a Kodaira-type classification of general singular fibers of a holomorphic Lagrangian fibration in Fujiki's class $\mathcal C$. Our approach is based on the study of the characteristic vector field of the discriminantal hypersurface, which naturally arises from the defining equation of the hypersurface via the symplectic form. As an application, we show that the characteristic foliation of the discriminantal hypersurface has algebraic leaves which are either rational curves or smooth elliptic curves.
In 1983, Nochka proved a conjecture of Cartan on defects of holomorphic curves in CP^n relative to a possibly degenerate set of hyperplanes. In this paper, we generalize the Nochka's theorem to the case of curves in a complex projective variety intersecting hypersurfaces in subgeneral position.
We study the birational geometry of irreducible holomorphic symplectic varieties arising as varieties of lines of general cubic fourfolds containing a cubic scroll. We compute the ample and moving cones, and exhibit a birational automorphism of infinite order explaining the chamber decomposition of the moving cone.
Let Y be a hypersurface in a 2n-dimensional holomorphic symplectic manifold X. The restriction $σ|_Y$ of the holomorphic symplectic form induces a rank one foliation on Y. We investigate situations where this foliation has compact leaves; in such cases we obtain a space of leaves Y/F which has dimension 2n-2 and admits a holomorphic symplectic form.

Let $Y$ be a smooth hypersurface in a projective irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifold $X$ of dimension $2n$. The characteristic foliation $F$ is the kernel of the symplectic form restricted to $Y$. Assume that $X$ is equipped with a Lagrangian fibration $π:X\to B$ and $Y=π^{-1}D$, where $D$ is a hypersurface in $B$. It is easy to see that the leaves of $F$ are contained in the fibers of $π$. We prove that a very general leaf is Zariski dense in a fiber of $π$.
Chern number formulas for holomorphic jet bundles are computed for projective curves and for projective surfaces. These formulas are used to show that certain minimal surfaces of general type (generic hypersurfaces of degree at least 5 in projective 3-spaces in particular) are hyperbolic in the sense of complex hyperbolic geometry.
For a one-parameter family of general type hypersurfaces with bases of holomorphic n-forms, we construct open covers using tropical geometry. We show that after normalization, each holomorphic n-form is approximately supported on a unique open component and such a pair approximates a Calabi-Yau hypersurface together with its holomorphic n-form as the parameter becomes large. We also show that the Lagrangian fibers in the fibration constructed by Mikhalkin are asymptotically special Lagrangian. As the holomorphic n-form plays an important role in mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds, our re…
Given an ample real Hermitian holomorphic line bundle $L$ over a real algebraic variety $X$, the space of real holomorphic sections of $L^{\otimes d}$ inherits a natural Gaussian probability measure. We prove that the probability that the zero locus of a real holomorphic section $s$ of $L^{\otimes d}$ defines a maximal hypersurface tends to $0$ exponentially fast as $d$ goes to infinity. This extends to any dimension a result of Gayet and Welschinger valid for maximal real algebraic curves inside a real algebraic surface. The starting point is a low degree approximation property which relates …
Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold and $α$ be a class in the Dolbeault cohomology class of bidegree $(1, 1)$ on $X$. When the numerical dimension of $α$ is one and $α$ admits at least two smooth semi-positive representatives, we show the existence of a family of real analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces in $X$ and a holomorphic foliation on a suitable domain of $X$ along whose leaves any semi-positive representative of $α$ is zero. As an application, we give the affirmative answer to \cite[Conjecture 2.1]{K2019} on the relation between the semi-positivity of the line bundle $[Y]$ and the analyti…
This article discusses the recent transcendental techniques used in the proofs of the following three conjectures. (1)~The plurigenera of a compact projective algebraic manifold are invariant under holomorphic deformation. (2)~There exists no smooth Leviflat hypersurface in the complex projective plane. (3)~A generic hypersurface of sufficiently high degree in the complex projective space is hyperbolic in the sense that there is no nonconstant holomorphic map from the complex Euclidean line to it.
We prove that square integrable holomorphic functions (with respect to a plurisubharmonic weight) can be extended in a square integrable manner from certain singular hypersurfaces (which include uniformly flat, normal crossing divisors) to entire functions in affine space. This provides evidence for a conjecture regarding the positivity of the curvature of the weight under consideration.
We study smooth quadric surfaces in the Pfaffian hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^{14}$ parameterising $6 \times 6$ skew-symmetric matrices of rank at most 4, not intersecting the Grassmannian $\mathbb{G}(1,5)$. Such surfaces correspond to quadratic systems of skew-symmetric matrices of size 6 and constant rank 4, and give rise to a globally generated vector bundle $E$ on the quadric. We analyse these bundles and their geometry, relating them to linear congruences of lines in $\mathbb{P}^5$.
The Eckardt hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^{19}$ parameterizes smooth cubic surfaces with an Eckardt point, which is a point common to three of the $27$ lines on a smooth cubic surface. We describe the cubic surfaces lying on the singular locus of the model of this hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^4$, obtained via restriction to the space of cubic surfaces possessing a so-called Sylvester form. We prove that inside the moduli of cubics, the singular locus corresponds to a reducible surface with two rational irreducible components intersecting along two rational curves. The two curves intersect in two …
Let $Y$ be a smooth hypersurface in a projective irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifold X of dimension 2n. The characteristic foliation $F$ is the kernel of the symplectic form restricted to Y. In this article we prove that a generic leaf of the characteristic foliation is dense in Y if Y has positive Beauville-Bogomolov-Fujiki square.
