Recently, there has been a growing interest in the study of deformed uranium-uranium ($U$-$U$) collisions in its various geometrical configurations due to their usefulness in understanding the different aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this paper we have studied the particle production in deformed $U$-$U$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = $193$ GeV using modified wounded quark model (WQM). At first, we have shown the variation of quark-nucleus inelastic scattering cross-section ($σ_{qA}^{in}$) with respect to centralities for various geometrical orientations of $U$-$U$ collisions in WQM. After that we have calculated the pseudorapidity density ($dn_{ch}/dη$) within WQM using two-component prescription. Further we have calculated the transverse energy density distribution ($dE_{T}/dη$) along with the ratio of transverse energy to charged hadron multiplicity ($E_{T}/N_{ch}$) for $U$-$U$ collisions and compared them with the corresponding experimental data. We have shown the scaling behavior of $dn_{ch}/dη$ and $dE_{T}/dη$ for different initial geometry of $U$-$U$ collision with respect to $p$-$p$ data at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV. Furthermore we have shown the Bjorken energy density achieved in $U$-$U$ collisions for various configurations and compared them with experimental data of $Au$-$Au$ at 200 GeV. We observe that the present model suitably describes the experimental data for minimum bias geometrical configuration of $U$-$U$ collisions. An estimate for various observables in different initial geometries of $U$-$U$ collisions is also presented which will be tested in future by experimental data.
We discuss multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles produced in nuclear collisions measured event-by-event by the NA49 experiment at CERN SPS within the Glauber Monte Carlo approach. We use the concepts of wounded nucleons and wounded quarks in the mechanism of multiparticle production to characterize multiplicity fluctuations expressed by the scaled variance of multiplicity distribution. Although Wounded Nucleon Model correctly reproduce the centrality dependence of the average multiplicity in Pb+Pb collisions, it completely fails in description of corresponding centrality dependence of…
The wounded nucleon and quark emission functions are extracted for different centralities in d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200\ \text{GeV}$ using Monte Carlo simulations and experimental data. The shape of the emission function depends on centrality in the wounded nucleon model, whereas it is practically universal (within uncertainties) in the wounded quark model. Predictions for $dN_{ch}/dη$ distributions in p+Au and $^3$He+Au collisions are presented.
We review the results of the wounded quark model, with a stress on eccentricity observables in small systems. A new element is a presentation of symmetric cumulants for the elliptic and triangular flow correlations, obtained in the wounded-quark approach.
Using the wounded nucleon, quark, and quark-diquark models, we extract the wounded source emission functions from the PHOBOS data for d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. We apply these models to compute charged particle multiplicity distributions as functions of pseudorapidity for p+p, p+Al, p+Au, d+Au, $^3$He+Au, Cu+Cu, Cu+Au, Au+Au, and U+U collisions at the same energy and compare them with experimental data from the PHOBOS and PHENIX collaborations. In symmetric collisions of heavy nuclei, the obtained distributions differ among the tested models. On the other hand, in asymmetri…
A model in which the soft collisions of the nucleon are described in terms of interactions of its two constituents (a quark and a diquark) is proposed. When adjusted to describe precisely the elastic proton-proton scattering data and supplemented with the idea of wounded constituents, the model accounts rather well for the centrality dependence of particle production in the central rapidity region at RHIC energies.
This article is focused on the multiplicity and probability distribution of the emitted charged pions <N_π> for interaction of ^{84}Kr_{36} projectile with nuclear emulsion targets at kinetic energy 1 GeV per nucleon. In the wounded nucleon model frame work, we have calculated the total number of wounded nucleons (W) and total number of interactions (ν). The obtained results revealed that the average multiplicity of the charged pions <N_π> is dependent on the projectile and target mass. The calculated values of the wounded nucleons (W) and total number of interactions (ν) shows strong dependen…
We explore predictions of the wounded quark model for particle production and properties of the initial state formed in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The approach is applied uniformly to A+A collisions in a wide collision energy range, as well as for p+A and p+p collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We find that generically the predictions from wounded quarks for such features as eccentricities or initial sizes are close (within 15\%) to predictions of the wounded nucleon model with an amended binary component. A larger difference is found for the size in p+Pb system, w…
We analyze the phenomenon of size-flow transmutation in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions in a model where the initial size fluctuations are driven by the wounded quarks and the collectivity is provided by viscous hydrodynamics. It is found that the model properly reproduces the data for the transverse momentum fluctuations measured for Pb+Pb collisions at 2.76TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. The agreement holds for a remarkably wide range of centralities, from 0-5% up to 70-80%, and displays a departure from a simple scaling with $(dN_{\rm ch}/dη)^{1/2}$ in the form seen in the data. The ov…
In this talk we summarize the main results of our recent paper, Phys. Rev. C94, 014902, where we explore predictions of the wounded quark model for particle production and the properties of the initial state formed in ultra-relativistic collisions of atomic nuclei.
We analyze a generic model where wounded quarks are amended with strings in which both end-point positions fluctuate in spatial rapidity. With the assumption that the strings emit particles independently of one another and with a uniform distribution in rapidity, we are able to analyze the model semi-analytically, which allows for its detailed understanding. Using as a constraint the one-body string emission functions obtained from the experimental data for collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV, we explore the two-body correlations for various scenarios of string fluctuations. We find that the…
We study the effect of the nucleon meson cloud on predictions of the Monte Carlo Glauber wounded nucleon model for $AA$, $pA$, and $pp$ collisions. From the analysis of the data on the charged multiplicity density in $AA$ collisions we find that the meson-baryon Fock component reduces the required fraction of binary collisions by a factor of $\sim 2$ for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV and $\sim 1.5$ for Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV. For central $AA$ collisions the meson cloud can increase the multiplicity density by $\sim 16-18$\%. We give predictions for the midrapidity cha…

We explore Glauber Monte Carlo predictions for the planned ultra-relativistic ${}^{16}{\rm O}$+${}^{16}{\rm O}$ and p+${}^{16}{\rm O}$ collisions, as well as for collisions of ${}^{16}{\rm O}$ on heavy targets. In particular, we present specific collective flow measures which are approximately independent on the hydrodynamic response of the system, such as the ratios of eccentricities obtained from cumulants with different numbers of particles, or correlations of ellipticity and triangularity described by the normalized symmetric cumulants. We use the state-of-the-art correlated nuclear distri…
The phase diagram of dense quark matter with chiral imbalance is considered with the conditions of electric neutrality and $β$-equilibrium. It has been shown recently that chiral imbalance can generate charged pion condensation in dense quark matter, so it was interesting to verify that this phenomenon takes place in realistic physical scenarios such as electrically neutral matter in $β$-equilibrium, because a window of pion condensation at dense quark matter phase diagram (without chiral imbalance) predicted earlier was closed by the consideration of these conditions at the physical current q…
In this short review we tried to give an outline of investigations of charged pion condensation (PC) in dense baryonic (quark) matter in the framework of effective Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) type models. The possibility of charged PC phase in dense quark matter with isospin asymmetry is investigated. First, it is demonstrated that this phase can be realized in the framework of massless NJL model. But the existence of this phase is enormously fragile to the values of current quark mass %.Then, and we show that charged PC phase is forbidden in electrically neutral dense quark matter with $β$-equi…
In this paper we investigate in the large-$N_c$ limit ($N_c$ is the number of colored quarks) the phase structure of a massless (1+1)-dimensional quark model with four-quark interaction and in the presence of baryon ($μ_B$), isospin ($μ_I$) and chiral isospin ($μ_{I5}$) chemical potentials as well as at nonzero temperature. It is established that chiral isospin chemical potential leads to the generation of charged pion condensation (PC) in dense (nonzero baryon density) and chiral asymmetric quark matter for a wide range of isospin densities. It is shown that there exists a duality corresponde…
A long standing question in the field of heavy-ion collisions is whether charm quarks are thermalized within the Quark Gluon Plasma. In recent years, progress in lattice QCD simulations has led to reliable results for the equation of state of a system of 2+1 flavors (up, down, and strange) and 2+1+1 flavors (up, down, strange, and charm). We find that the equation of state strongly affects differential flow harmonics and a preference is seen for thermalized charm quarks at the LHC. Predictions are also made for the event-plane correlations at RHIC AuAu $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV collisions, and t…
We evaluate the electric dipole moment of charged leptons in the standard model, where the complex phase of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix is the only source of CP violation. We first prove that, at the quark-gluon level, it is suppressed by a factor of $m_b^2 m_c^2 m_s^2$ at all orders of perturbation due to the Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani mechanism. We then calculate the hadronic long distance contribution generated by vector mesons at one-loop level. The $|ΔS|=1$ weak hadronic interaction is derived using the factorization, and the strong interaction is modeled by the hidden local symme…
We analyze mesons in constant magnetic fields ($B$) within a non-relativistic constituent quark model. Our quark model contains a harmonic oscillator type confining potential, and we perturbatively treat short range correlations to account for the spin-flavor energy splittings. We study both neutral and charged mesons taking into account the internal quark dynamics. The neutral states are labelled by two-dimensional momenta for magnetic translations, while the charged states by two discrete indices related to angular momenta. For $B \ll Λ_{\rm QCD}^2$ ($Λ_{\rm QCD} \sim 200$ MeV: the QCD scale…
The yield ratios of negatively to positively charged pions ($π^-/π^+$), negatively to positively charged kaons ($K^-/K^+$), and anti-protons to protons ($\bar p/p$) produced in mid-rapidity interval in central gold-gold (Au-Au) collisions, central lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions, and inelastic (INEL) or non-single-diffractive (NSD) proton-proton ($pp$) collisions, as well as in forward rapidity region in INEL $pp$ collisions are analyzed in the present work. Over an energy range from a few GeV to above 10 TeV, the chemical potentials of light flavor particles (pion, kaon, and proton) and quarks (…
Recent advances in nuclear theory combined with new astrophysical observations have led to the need for specific theoretical models that actually apply to phenomena on dense-matter physics. At the same time, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts the existence of non-nucleonic degrees of freedom at high densities in neutron-star matter, such as quark matter. Within a confining quark matter model, which consists of homogeneous, neutral 3-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections, we study the structure of compact stars made of a charged perfect fluid in the context of…
